On today's episode, we're joined by Kat Armstrong, Kat is an author and Bible teacher. Her latest Bible study series is Mountains and Valleys. This month, we are in a series on Mental Health. What could you be getting wrong about these struggles you are battling? - and this week we are discussing: What I Learned In Therapy. Heather shares that self-care isn't just about binge-watching your favorite show or indulging in snacks — true self-care is about practices that genuinely refresh and restore you. Join host Heather Thompson Day and submission specialist Haley as they explore the topic of therapy. In Day in the Bible, Heather highlights how Jesus often withdrew to quiet places for solitude and renewal, showing us the importance of stepping away to be refreshed. Have a story to share? How do you step into what God is calling you towards when others seem to discourage you? What does it look like to use your gifts for the kingdom in the face of challenges? For author and Bible Teacher Kat Armstrong, it was her study of scripture that led her to rethink her own beliefs on her role in the kingdom as a woman. Having experienced pushback from others who seemed to not value her voice and giftings as a scholar and woman in ministry, Kat began to see how her own misinterpretations led to her not stepping fully into the call God had on her life. As she examined some of the strange ways in which people had taught about women in the Bible and their role in the kingdom of God, she began to grow in God-given confidence that she was made to teach and lead. In this episode, Aubrey sits with Kat to discuss how women are used by God throughout scripture, what it looks like to step into your calling, and how our storylines intersect with God's greater one. If you've ever found yourself shrinking back from what you've been called to do, this conversation will encourage you that if God has called you towards something, nothing can stop you. Jamie recently released a statement on Instagram that she is stepping away from podcasting for a while. As a team, we have decided to air the six conversations that were recorded prior to May 20th. We decided to do this to honor the guests, the projects they have worked on, and the stories they are sharing. On today's show Jamie Ivey and Kat Armstrong discuss the podcast series 'Holy Curiosity' and the encounter of the Samaritan woman with Jesus at the well. Kat Armstrong was born in Houston, Texas, where the humidity ruins her Mexi-German curls. She is a powerful voice in our generation as a sought-after Bible teacher, innovative ministry leader, and the host of the Holy Curiosity podcast. She holds a master's degree from Dallas Theological Seminary and is pursuing a D.Min. from Houston Christian University. Kat is the author of No More Holding Back, The In-Between Place, and a 6-study Bible study series, the Storyline Project. In 2008, Kat cofounded the Polished Network to embolden women in their faith and work. She and her husband, Aaron, have been married for twenty one years and live in Dallas, Texas, with their son, Caleb, and attend Dallas Bible Church, where Aaron serves as the lead pastor.Jamie and Kat address misconceptions about the Samaritan woman's character and explore the theological conversation she had with Jesus. They also highlight the impact of her testimony on the people in her town and the significance of Jesus prioritizing this encounter. We hope after this conversation you'll see how everyone can encounter Jesus in unexpected places and be transformed by the power of encountering Him in our own lives. Thanks for listening and sharing with a friend! The fourth commandment states, "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy," and for thousands of years, faithful Jews around the world have abstained from working on the sacred day. Should Christians do the same? On the one hand, Paul said we are not under the law but under grace (Rom 6:14). On the other hand, all of the other commandments are restated in the New Testament. This week on Honestly, Though, Rebecca Carrell, Liz Rodriguez, and Nika Spaulding discuss the spirit of the law and what it means to keep it.We love hugs! Today we are going to be talking about “Rediscovering your vision and restoring your hope in God's presence through the symbol-driven world of the Bible." Locations in the Bible didn't just matter, these locations had meaning. How does this affect our Bible reading today? Well, our guest, Kat Armstrong, creator of a new and upcoming Bible study series called, “Storyline Bible Studies,” is here to answer that question and many more about the way in which we are reading our Bibles can immensely shift our perspectives.Coffee and Bible Time Prayer JournalCoffee and Bible Time Prayer Journal BinderCoffee and Bible Time CoursesCoffee and Bible Time MembershipStoryline Bible StudiesIG: @katarmstrong1Pens: LePensBible: CSB BibleWebsite: thestorylineproject.comFavorite App: Logos Bible SoftwareSupport the show
The same way you fall in love with your favorite authors and storytellers, whether it's through movies or podcasts… allow God to become that again in your life” – Kat Armstrong If you are like me walking into the year, you have all these thoughts about wanting to eat better, exercise more, and maintain great friendships. Or maybe you are saying, “I want to get back into God's Word.” If that is you, I have a great show for you today! My guest is Kat Armstrong and she is one of my favorite Bible teachers. Not only that, but she's in the running for the guest we've maybe had on more times than anyone else – five times! Kat is wise, she is genuine, and she has two new Bible studies releasing next week. What I love about these studies is that they can be done individually or with a group. The “Storyline Bible Studies” will guide you through the storylines of scripture as they each follow people, places, or things in the Bible. Kat and I spend time today talking about the first two studies, Mountains and Valleys. We talk about what it means to get back into God's Word if you've been afraid, if you've been hurt, or if you have felt unwelcome because of His Word. Kats shares how she would introduce someone who's scared or overwhelmed to start reading the Bible. She says to keep reading until you run into a rabbit trail, and if you find yourself overwhelmed, pause your plan and give your brain a break to help dive in again. We really want to encourage you to look at God's Word as one whole big story, telling God's story of love toward us. Christians know that we should read the Bible. But often, the "should" eclipses the "why"—the fact that Scripture presents a unified, powerful, mysterious story written by God for the benefit of his people. In this episode, Dru interviews Kat Armstrong, a Bible teacher, speaker, and author who aims to cultivate joyful, imaginative reading of Scripture. The Bible contains rich networks of imagery, but we must read carefully to notice them. Kat's new Bible study series, Storyline Bible Series, takes a deep dive into some of the recurring motifs in Scripture, from mountains and valleys to sticks and stones. Additionally, Kat discusses how her son helps her pay closer attention to the Bible, why the Bible isn't an instruction manual, and how Scripture eschews dividing its characters into "good guys" and "bad guys." Kat Armstrong is a Bible teacher from Dallas who is passionate about helping people develop holy curiosity and delve more deeply into the story of the Bible. Her work includes speaking at events and conferences and writing books and Bible studies. You can find out more about her at her website. Many of us are living in the in-between places: in between sickness and health, divorce and lasting love, job frustration, and fulfillment. Today, Janell talks to the Co-founder of The Polished Network, Kat Armstrong, Author of "The In-Between Places: Where Jesus Changes Your Story" and engages in a remarkable conversation about how Kat's visit to Israel led her to begin writing this book. Through sharing her story of "in-between places," you will find great encouragement and empowerment to move through your in-between places.
Liminality is the in-between space when the old is no longer, and the new is not clear yet. It's betwixt and between – where we, by definition – are not in control. It's this foggy, confusing space. Sound Familiar?Start your year with our discussion with Kat Armstrong, author of In The In-Between Place.
