Trimble is the Resident Bishop of the Indiana Area of the United Methodist Church.Bishop Trimble has the personal mission to encourage all people with the love of Jesus Christ to rise to their highest potential. It is his commitment to his personal mission that led Bishop Trimble to create the “To Be Encouraged” Podcast along with co-host Rev.Dr. Brad Miller. Bishop Trimble says, “I am compelled by Jesus to share with you an encouraging word or two about Jesus, theology, the Bible, the pandemic, the environment, racism, voting rights, human sexuality, and the state of the United Methodist Church.” To Be Encouraged with Bishop Julius C. Trimble is to be published weekly and is available at www.tobeencouraged.com and all the podcast directories.https://www.inumc.org/bishop/office-of-the-bishop/The Arc Benders: Young People Leading the Way in Creating a Just and Peaceful WorldIn episode 065 of "To Be Encouraged," host Bishop Julius C. Trimble and co-host Rev.Dr. Brad Miller are joined by the Director of "Alive Fort Wayne (www.alivefw.org) Rev. Angelo Mante and by members of that organizations summer youth leadership training program Peacemaker Academy Timothy Poindexter and Samantha Morris, The episode explores the power of forgiveness, the significance of peacemaking, and the transformative impact of intentional community. Here are three key takeaways from the episode:1. Forgiveness is a Healing Process:The episode emphasizes that forgiveness is not about condoning the harmful actions of others, but rather an act of self-liberation. Unforgiveness is compared to drinking poison and expecting the enemy to suffer. The process of forgiveness includes telling one's story, naming the harm, considering forgiveness, and either renewing or releasing the relationship. Telling one's story and naming the harm is essential in moving towards forgiveness and healing.2. Peacemaking: Creating Positive Change:The episode highlights the remarkable work being done through the Peacemaker Academy, a three-week program that focuses on teaching nonviolence and addressing trauma. The program, spearheaded by Rev. Angelo Mante, has exceeded expectations, positively impacting students in Southside High School in Fort Wayne. The academy includes activities such as guest speakers, field trips, and peace circles, where students can share personal experiences and bond with each other. The program's success has caught the attention of the district for potential expansion to other schools.3. Beloved Community and Intentional Relationships:The episode emphasizes the importance of creating intentional communities, known as beloved communities. By embracing the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the speakers recognize that peace is not merely the absence of tension but the presence of justice. They discuss the need to work towards a world where everyone is seen as God's children and can come together to create peace, unity, and understanding. The power of intentional relationships and smaller clusters fosters a sense of belonging and promotes a positive and peaceful future. Conclusion:This episode of "To Be Encouraged" highlights the transformative power of forgiveness, the significance of peacemaking, and the importance of intentional community. Listeners are encouraged to embrace forgiveness as a healing process, actively participate in creating positive change through peacemaking initiatives, and work towards the establishment of beloved communities. By doing so, individuals can contribute to a more peaceful, just, and inclusive world. For More Information on Alive Ft Wayne and Rev. Angelo Mante and the Peacemaker Academy go to (

So often we define ourselves by "what we do". But is this the same as "who we are"? Who are we??? I navigated this topic with this week's #truthseekers guest Samantha Morris. Samantha is a woman on a mission to inspire women to become entrepreneurs, business leaders and successful business owners in their own right. But this mission didn't happen overnight. Samantha sits here today with experience in a wide variety of things, starting with a stint in the Navy. Listen for what she says about her journey over the past decades, following rules, and how she changed her story of her own identity. It's another reminder that there's no substitute for experience. Samantha has a great foundation with which to coach other female entrepreneurs because not only has she talked the talk, but she has walked the walk... Come talk the talk with us on this week's episode; and please enjoy my conversation with Samantha Morris! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/nick-davies7/support
Professor Sam Morris from Washington University in St. Louis is elucidating how cells make developmental decisions as they navigate the space of cell identity. She had a rocky start in science, but falling in love with her projects led her to stick it out. Luckily so: she now runs a highly successful and highly creative lab. Sam thoughtfully discusses how terminology - such as ‘dead end states' versus ‘partially reprogrammed states' - can influence the interpretation of results in a project. She also allowed us to peek into her lab meetings: every time, in addition to the progress reports on ongoing projects, one person presents a bold, new idea on any topic. For more information on Night Science, visit www.night-science.org .
https://www.samanthamorris.fempirecoa... After 15 years in small business in Victoria, my mission is to help as many women as possible to develop their business idea, work with them to get their business started, and to grow their business without overwhelming them.I want to help women who start a business to end up with a business you love. You might have been told to dream big, but that is hard when you have been conditioned not to. I love working through whatever is stopping you from achieving real success. When I announced that I was going to do my Bachelors degree, people thought I was crazy. I was forty(ish) at the time and had five young children to look after, a business to run and we were building a home extension - and I was registered as the owner builder! Rather than give up in the face of negativity, I was offended that people thought I couldn't do it all.
Writer, preacher, reformer, martyr. Girolamo Savonarola was an inspiration to Martin Luther and an early martyr for the Protestant Reformation. He's also a controversial figure – more Old Testament prophet than humble friar. He tried to end the Renaissance, to create a city of God. We can learn a lot from his story today. Our guest Samantha Morris discusses her book Girolamo Savonarola: The Renaissance Preacher and the history of the “mad preacher of Florence”. Her new book is "The Pope's Greatest Adversary: Girolamo Savonarola". Think you could end a movement? Destroy some of the best art ever made? Nearly topple the Italian Renaissance? Of course not, but that's what one man tried to do at the end of the 1400s. He was a righteous man who fought against the evil of Pope Alexander VI. But he went too far—trying to make the world behave in a godly fashion instead of changing the hearts of Florence. In a time before the Bible was readily available in people's own languages, Girolamo Savonarola was put to death by the very superstition he tried to defeat. Learn more about your ad choices. Samantha Morris, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Genetics and Developmental Biology at Washington University in St. Louis. She established her research group in 2015, focusing on developing new single-cell experimental and computational approaches to dissect mechanisms of cell fate reprogramming. Sam trained at the University of Cambridge with Magdalena Zernicka-Goetz, investigating early mammalian fate specification. She then joined the laboratory of George Daley at Harvard Medical School, where she focused on the analysis of gene regulatory networks to dissect and engineer cell identity. Together with her group, she continues in pursuit of her goal to engineer clinically relevant cell populations, translating new insights in cell fate specification into better models of disease and development.

Girolamo Savonarola was an inspiration to Martin Luther and an early martyr for the Protestant Reformation. He's also a controversial figure – more Old Testament prophet than humble friar. Our guest Samantha Morris (https://theborgiabull.com) discusses her book Girolamo Savonarola: The Renaissance Preacher and the history of the “mad preacher of Florence”. Think you could end a movement? Destroy some of the best art ever made? Nearly topple the Italian Renaissance? Of course not, but that's what one man tried to do at the end of the 1400's. He was a righteous man who fought against the evil of Pope Alexander the VI. But he we went too far—trying to make the world behave in a godly fashion instead of changing the hearts of Florence. In a time before the Bible was readily available in people's own languages, Girolamo Savonarola was put to death by the very superstition he tried to defeat. Truce is a listener-supported podcast.
