On October 19th 1990 a man who thought divorce was not an option was sentenced for the role he played in his wife's murder. A sentencing that concluded a trial where all of the information we know on the case was finally brought to light through testimony and police work. https://murderpedia.org/male.S/s/stephenson-jonathan.htm, https://law.justia.com/cases/tennessee/supreme-court/2006/e2003-01091-sc-ddt-dd.html, https://law.justia.com/cases/tennessee/court-of-criminal-appeals/2013/m2013-00720-cca-r3-hc.html, https://www.tncourts.gov/courts/supreme-court/opinions/2006/06/02/state-tennessee-v-jonathan-wesley-stephenson-0, https://deathrow2019usa.blogspot.com/2019/09/jonathan-stephenson-tennessee.html, https://mycrimelibrary.com/jonathan-stephenson-tennessee-death-row/, http://www.cncpunishment.com/forums/showthread.php?2453-Jonathan-Wesley-Stephenson-Tennessee-Death-Row&p=71822

What would you do if quite suddenly and unexpectedly you lost everything and had to start all over again? That is exactly where our guest found herself years ago.  Lisa Stephenson not only lost her home, security, and any sense of certainty, but what was most devastating is that she lost her identity.  However, she discovered that the choices we make about who we are going to be when life is challenging and impossibly hard often matter the most.  The choices we make in the moments when we don't feel like we can, because it seems like we have nothing left, are the ones that most shape us.  Lisa believes that it was the choice to be curious in the face of fear that allowed her to see possibilities beyond her current situation.  Today she is one of the most reputable and sought after executive coaches in her industry.  In this episode she shares with us her insights on discovering and living your own version of success.  Where you can find more of Lisa?www.thecoachplace.com Readmefirst.com.au

If only life came with a set of instructions. What a great concept. I’m not sure we’d all follow them or if many of us would even read them. But it’d be nice to know they were there. But there not or perhaps, they we not, until now. Here at the Team Guru podcast I get a lot of books come my way. But the one belonging to Lisa Stephenson, my guest in this episode, jumped out at me from the moment I saw it. It’s title Read Me First. Is simple and intriguing. So I read it. And found inside I found a fabulous story, wonderfully written about a women piloting herself through life. And learning a bunch of heavy lessons along the way. Through the pages of her book, I could feel Lisa’s personality. Her tenacity, her intelligence, and her energy. And that’s exactly what I found when I chatted to her for this episode. Lisa has taken the lessons she has extracted from life. She’s made sense of them, and found a way to share them so we can make a little more sense of our own lives.

In her delivery of it she is fearless. She challenges people to think harder about who they are, what they want most in life, and what they are prepared to do to get it. Lisa asks if people can answer the question, “Who am I?”, as this self-awareness is the essential prerequisite to any efforts to create a better or different life, and to achieve greater success. She inspires people to seek clarity around what matters most, to prioritise time and energy, and to align life choices with what is most valued. Lisa speaks about the human way our experiences create the beliefs we hold; the way our emotions drive our responses and actions; and how we may mindlessly go through our day on ‘default', doing what we've always done, in response to the thinking we've habitually thought.
