Hi my little bears! This week's episode is all about a competition that is happening NEXT week (May 10th-May 14th) and that is the 66th Eurovision Songwriting Contest. I have to admit I am not a huge fan of televised music competitions, as you know I only enjoy watching the performances, but I wanted to do a shorter episode for you guys giving you some fun facts on this particular competition. If you have no idea what the Eurovision is, this episode is PERFECT for you because we go over all the info you need to know. Last year's winners, Måneskin, represented Italy so this year the competition will take place in Turin, Italy. Will you be watching? And most importantly, who do you think is going to win? I hope you enjoy this episode and if there's anything you want to discuss, feel free to reach out on Instagram! EP.12- Coachella 2022/Revolve Festival 2022 Review

One of the most scrutinized festivals in music is taking place in California so obviously I was dying to review weekend 1 of Coachella 2022 and Revolve Festival 2022 and trust me: they were SOMETHING ELSE (both positively & negatively)Coachella's Headliners for this year are Harry Styles, Billie Eilish and Swedish House Mafia with The Weeknd. Further performances included Doja Cat, Justin Bieber, Megan Thee Stallion, Carly Rae Jepsen, Mäneskin, Karol G & Becky G and many many more. Are you following the festival? Have you ever been or are you planning on going? Revolve Festival or Fyre Festival pt.2? Have you heard about what happened? I personally think festivals organizers MUST take into more consideration the fact that people are human beings and not just walking wallets: they need to provide infrastructures, services and personnel who are able to meet basic human needs. This ain't no joke, we're talking about people's health and safety here. If you are at a concert/festival/show where you have even the slightest feeling that something just isn't right PLEASE GET OUT OF THERE as soon as you can. FOMO can fuck off honestly. I hope you enjoy this episode and if there's anything you want to discuss, feel free to reach out on Instagram! This past weekend the 64th Grammy Awards were held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and you knew I had to do a review. Please keep in mind that I am IN NO WAY affiliated with the Grammy Awards or any artists I mention in the episode so everything you hear is 100% my personal opinion. No one paid me to say these things, they are genuinely what I think of the show after having watched the performances/red carpet and read the list of winners. I have previously talked about the Grammys both on my podcast and my TikTok so you kinda know where I stand when it comes to "the biggest night in music" but nevertheless, I did want to give you my honest opinion on this year's show. I hope you enjoy this episode and if there's anything you want to discuss, feel free to reach out on Instagram! This is a topic very dear to me and one I think is not talked about enough. Whether you like it or not, it's undeniable that the way we have been portraying bodies in the media/music/cinema/entertainment business has changed in the last few years: so what has changed? Are you comfortable with what you see in the media? Do you feel represented enough or at all? Just a few years ago the most beautiful women on earth were considered those with a size 0, what about now? What about curvy girls? What has allowed artists like Lizzo, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion and more to finally have a voice in the music business? Could have they had a chance at a glorious career back in the early 2010s? And most importantly, are we out of the woods (yet)? Let's talk yall!I hope you enjoy this episode and if there's anything you want to discuss, feel free to reach out on Instagram! The music business is no joke: I'm sure every industry has its pros and cons but after 5 years in the music world both on the business and the creative side, I decided to write down a list of the 10 things people who want to get into this industry seem to forget a little too often. If you already are working in music, these things may sound as "common knowledge" but I promise you that coming from the outside, these are not so obvious. I am also tired of treating this world as a taboo where only the surface is talked about. Let's go behind the scenes, let's talk about what goes on behind the flashing lights and red carpets. It's a tough world and definitely not for the soft hearted!I hope you enjoy this episode and if there's anything you want to discuss, feel free to reach out on Instagram! This is something I think it's about time we talk about. Do you trust the Grammys' reputation and authority in the music industry? Is everything so clear as it appears to be? I never questioned the Academy's authority until artists themselves started to speak out against this organisation that has played a big role in deciding "who is hot and who's not" for the past 60+ years but should they continue to do so? In this episode I refer to the New York Times' article "Can The Grammys Be Trusted?", you can find it here --> https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/25/arts/music/grammys-controversy.html I hope you enjoy this episode and if there's anything you want to discuss, feel free to reach out on Instagram! I mean, the amount of talent on stage is always outstanding and no matter who performs, I'm always left speechless (some times more than others). This year's show was left to Dr. Dre (with the help of some friends): have you watched it? If not I HIGHLY recommend you go and check it out! Nothing short of a millenial's dream! In this episode I also talk about a couple of artists I thought they would have performed by now and I drop in some predictions on who I think will be asked to perform in the next, let's say, 5 years. Were you a Disney Channel kid? I definitely was! And looking back, those years, those shows, those characters were crucial to creating the person I am today. Was it the same for you? Or did something else like a show, a song, a band, a cultural movement  shape your  reality and helped create the foundations of your being?Music has always played a huge role in my life but when I stopped and thought about it on a deeper level I realised that it has not only played a huge role, it also shaped me. It MADE me. I am who I am because of those shows, because of that era and if you want to understand where my musical taste comes from, I deeply believe the Disney Channel era is a good place to start. If you have any questions regarding something you've heard in this episode or want to start a conversation about this, don't hesitate to DM me on Instagram and I'll be glad to answer all your questions. All my socials/ playlists/ projects --> https://linktr.ee/AlexiaWoods

The question I get asked at least once a day is always the same: "how do I grow on TikTok?" I don't have a magic formula, I don't think anyone does but I can tell you exactly what I did (and what I've learned) that has allowed me to reach over 350k followers. If you are trying to grow on TikTok yourself or are just curious, you will definitely find this episode interesting. Way too often I see creators treating this topic as a big secret and I don't like that: if I can help you grow just by sharing my experience, I want to do that. If you have any questions regarding something you've heard in this episode or are simply curious to learn more about my journey on TikTok, don't hesitate to DM me on Instagram and I'll be glad to answer all your questions. All my socials/ playlists/ projects --> https://linktr.ee/AlexiaWoods

As you can probably guess from all my social media, I am a music person BIG TIME. Just like so many people out there, from a young age I developed a passion for music and I was determined to work in the music industry one way or the other. What pretty much nobody out there tells you is how to actually start a career in the music business. How do you get your name out there? How do you get your foot in the door? I don't have an answer for you, nobody does. But what I CAN tell you is how I did it and what were the choices I made that led me to where I am today. If you have any questions regarding working in the music business, songwriting or are simply curious about something I talk about in this episode, don't hesitate to DM on Instagram and I'll be glad to answer all your questions. All my socials/ playlists --> https://linktr.ee/AlexiaWoods

This is always one of my most frequently requested topics and "I thought you were American" is probably one of the most common phrases in my comment section. I am aware I don't sound Italian when I speak English and my year as an exchange student in North Carolina (USA) is  one of the reasons why. I tried to cover all areas of my experience: from the application process to being accepted in the program to leaving my friends and family behind all the way to what I experienced once I came back home. If you have any questions regarding being an exchange student (maybe you are thinking about becoming one!!!), don't hesitate to DM on Instagram and I'll be glad to answer all your questions. All my socials / playlists --> https://linktr.ee/AlexiaWoods
