On this episode, host Chris Adkins speaks with Gerry Farrell, a seasoned expert with over two decades of experience in the CDMO space and current executive advisor at Kymanox. Their discussion explores three key areas of the evolving bioprocessing landscape: 1. The Evolution from Antibodies to Gene Therapy. How bioprocessing has grown increasingly complex from the relatively straightforward days of monoclonal antibody manufacturing to today's gene therapy challenges. Gerry highlights the critical importance of analytical development for early-stage companies and why having the right methods—not necessarily more methods—is crucial for success. 2. Economic Realities and CDMO Dynamics. Gerry offers perspectives on the current economic environment facing biotech, including investor sentiment and funding challenges. The discussion unpacks the paradox of some CDMOs expanding capacity while others close facilities, and explores the strategic considerations driving companies toward either in-house manufacturing or outsourcing. 3. Manufacturing Technologies and Future Trends. The episode delves into the ongoing debate between single-use and stainless steel manufacturing systems, with insights into why large-scale stainless steel facilities continue to dominate commercial antibody production. Gerry shares thoughts on emerging technologies, the potential impact of AI and machine learning on bioprocessing, and how sponsor companies can better leverage CDMO expertise to navigate these evolving landscapes. Naveen Agarwal, PhD and Nate Blazei discuss the QMSR and the relationship to ISO 13485:2016 and how Risk Management is the cornerstone to success. The new Quality Management System Regulation (QMSR) from the FDA represents a significant shift in expectations for how medical device companies manage their quality systems. At its core, QMSR requires companies to take a more process-based and risk-based approach that fully integrates risk management activities throughout the entire product lifecycle and organizational processes. This episode features:Naveen Agarwal, Ph.D. - Principal and Founder, Let's Talk Risk!Nathan Blazei, Senior Director, Regulatory Affairs, Kymanox with your host Shannon Hoste, Vice President of Human Factors Engineering at Kymanox Key Points:- Risk management can no longer be a separate activity but must be embedded into all quality processes under QMSR.- Process mapping and understanding information/data flows is critical for building an integrated risk management system.- A lifecycle approach to continually updating risk assessments based on real-world data is expected, not just a one-time activity.- The two-year transition period allows companies to identify gaps, update processes, and make a plan to implement QMSR's risk-based expectations.- While not mandating ISO 14971 specifically, the FDA acknowledges it provides an excellent model for risk management that most companies should leverage.About the Factor:The Factor, your trusted podcast for the life sciences industry. Roy K. saved my life, just as his inspirations and guidance have helped save most of our lives. Roy gave me hope, something I had lost a decade prior to meeting him. Roy helped me find my soul, my conscience, my humanity, my spirituality, and my Higher Power. Roy was our highly spiritual, soft-spoken, dignified founder. He was a deep thinking man who had many brilliant insights which were gifted to us through his writings, his talks, and his way of living soberly. He left much for all of us to ponder and discover. For me, his greatest gift was his insight into how addiction works; and specifically how sexaholism works. He was also insightful in giving us suggestions and guidance in living soberly.

I see you posting on Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram, appearing on guest blogs and podcasts, creating your content, sharing your story, perfecting your elevator pitch, working out the kinks in your about page, learning the ins and outs of copy that converts and sales pages that sell. I see you doing all the right things, checking all the boxes, showing up, diving in, giving it your all and then some. Your drive, your devotion, and your ambition are practically tangible. I see you plagued with self doubt, uncertain whether you have what it takes to make this entrepreneurial thing work. mistakes, vacillating between a mindset of abundance and opportunity, and one of anxiety and self condemnation, desperately trying to brave the storms in your business and your life as the winds swirl and the rain pours. I see you. I see you because I am you. I know all too well what it's like to have a dream, a passion, a desire for something great. When I began my coaching business, I wanted to change the world by connecting with mindful, energized, motivated people who wanted to love their work and their lives. I saw myself serving people powerfully and changing lives. Then shortly after I began my vision clouded. These are just a few words in the letter to the intrepid entrepreneur from my guest today, former psychotherapist and social worker, now executive coach working with entrepreneurs, Lee Shea McDonough, author of Act on Your Business. This is a great conversation where we explore the intersection between therapy and coaching, entrepreneurship, and values leading the decisions that we make as entrepreneurs. Once again, I love the conversation. I hope you do too. Thanks for listening. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/nathan-leslie/message

So where did this love for the United Kingdom spring from? Kate Parker: My mother had the entire collection of Agatha Christie murder mysteries. I grew up on that. And what I wanted to do more than anything else, and still do, would be to go to Great Britain in the 1930s to experience that world that she wrote about. And since I cannot build a time machine in my backyard, I haven't figured it out yet, I like to travel to Britain, but I also like to write. Jenny Wheeler: That's fantastic. And you've certainly done that. You've got 16 books to your credit in three different series. The one we are talking about today, the 17th is part of your Deadly series and it's called Deadly Rescue. It's Book nine in the series, and set in War Time Britain, but quite a lot of the rest are set in 19th century Britain, aren't they? Kate Parker: Yes. The first two series are set in the late Victorian era and the Edwardian era, so it's just the Deadly series that's set just before the war, and then now War Time Britain. Jenny Wheeler: You've had particular breakthrough success with the Deadly Series, haven't you? Kate Parker: Yes, it has been the, the biggest boost for me so far, Things you'll learn in this episode How a connection with Congo refugees in her local church sparked her interest in what happened to the World War II refugees fleeing Hitler's Germany - and helped lead to the Deadly seriesHow her Olivia character was inspired by a 1950s cartoon reporter named Brenda StarrKate wrote 18 books before she had one accepted by a...

In this episode with Dr. Carlos Sanchez, we're going to take a look at the concept of additive equilibration as a way of managing tooth wear. In other words, it's an occlusion-based technique that involves adding composite or ceramic to achieve the ideal restorative results and we're going to try to help you understand what that is. In this episode, we're discussing additive equilibrations for managing tooth wear. Jaz's IntroductionSo this is an occlusion-based one. Dental students and young dentists, it's a lot of things that we discussed that might stretch your mind a little bit. So if you're new to the world of occlusion, you might have to listen to it a couple of times, you have to hit the books, you have to speak some mentors. It's okay to listen to something that might be a little bit beyond your depth at this stage. Certainly, when I was doing inclusion, I had a lot of that. And I slowly, slowly, slowly, you know, gained more knowledge, spoke to more mentors gain new perspectives. So just because we cover some themes that you might not understand in this episode, doesn't mean you shouldn't give it your best shot. Now on that note, if you are looking for some basic, but powerful, impactful, actionable, and practical occlusion tips, then I've set up a free monthly resource right to your inbox. Starting from August, it's worthwhile just joining now, if you head to www.occlusion.wtf, that's right. It's www.occlusion.wtf. Listen, I'm on a mission to demystify occlusion. So people think a equilibration is usually when you get to a bur and start drilling teeth away. Well, this is additive equilibration, we are creating the "ideal occlusion" or "ideal occluding" scheme by adding for example composite or ceramic or whatever it might be to get to our ideal restorative...

It's 1961. It's North Carolina USA and a Boeing B52 Stratofortress has just mislaid two 3.8 megaton Hydrogen Bombs somewhere in the sky above Goldsboro. In what, despite the best efforts of Pentagon whitewashers, we now know to be the newly declassified 44th episode of the CB Wallop podcast, join Phil Lucas and Phil Jerrod as they discuss The Goldsboro B-52 Crash - the gigantic military plane that fell out of the sky, dumped two of the most dangerous pieces of equipment the world has ever seen into a tree and ended up creating the tensest picnic spot in North America. Did the Pentagon keep it all secret? Well ... ****REDACTED ....REDACTED ....REDACTED**** Trigger Warning: FIRE THE NUCLEAR WEAPONS! This episode is one of the closest shaves in the history of close shaves, but it's all about what could have happened, rather than what ended up happening - so unless you've got a really vivid imagination, you should be fine. My next guest piqued my interest and so I invited her to be a part of The Ethical Evolution. Jennifer Pearson is based in North Carolina USA and is a Shamanic Minister, Spiritual Coach, Reiki Master and soon to be Shamanic Breathwork Facilitator. Of course, everything within her wheelhouse got me curious and I had a lot of curious questions just like what exactly does a Shamanic Minister do? I am super keen to try the Shamanic Breathwork though despite Jen's description of her experience. So let's open up our minds and sink in for how shamanic principles align with the mission of this very podcast! This podcast is brought to you by http://www.ethicalchangeagency.com (Ethical Change Agency).

It was a bleak and dreary day.. .Kate and I connected with Eleanor Stevenson, Professor of Nursing from Duke University, North Carolina USA and Kevin McEleny, Consultant Urologist at Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Trust to discuss a brilliant new initiative to support men struggling with infertility. Together Kevin and Eleanor have created https://all-about-fertility.com/ (All about fertility )an evidence-based resource providing couples with up to date articles, webinars and videos created by experts from the field of fertility. But they didn't want to just stop there. From their research Kevin and Eleanor identified that men didn't want to engage with support from counsellors and so they created a support forum just for men to access support in a way that was accessible to them and on their terms. Peer Support In the future, Kevin and Eleanor hope to roll out other versions of this platform to include support forums for same-sex couples and women. In the US, Eleanor is seeing that professionals are becoming more aware of male fertility but as yet, US men aren't opening up. Whereas conversely, in the UK men are beginning to talk and there are a number of men that are leading the way, some of who have been recent guests on the podcast. Educating medical professionals Kevin talks about the need for greater awareness and sensitivity among professionals. The evidence that has come out of their research shows that what men are told at the very start can have enormous consequences on their emotional wellbeing. Eleanor tells us that while men continue to feel that their problems are not real. It reinforces stigma and men get further silenced. My next guest was another amazing online find who approached me to be on the show - it was a no-brainer that I had to speak to this guy and I am so glad that I did. Terry Earthwind Nichols is the Evolutionary Healer based in North Carolina USA. After standing on the edge of a 28-story building, Terry heard a voice saying, “I have something for you to do.” Within 6 months he had created a process that helps his clients find a forgotten memory from early childhood that has consistently been controlling their life and driving their behaviors. With RBCR, everything is in its place and one's entire life makes sense for the very first time in a long time. After leading a life of self-sabotage, Terry was relieved to get off of the proverbial Merry-Go-Round himself. And we're actually in a interesting area. This is called the Research Triangle, Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill has a lot of research companies are big companies, especially in biotechnology technology. And something I was talking to someone today we were talking about the different types of innovation. And, you know, a lot of companies and also a lot of like speakers, we focus on the kind of incremental and incremental innovation. So for example, trying to get, you know, increase the number of daily inquiries that we receive, or increasing number of pitches we're doing every day by a little bit more. And that's all great. That's all part of what you have to do. However, sometimes it what actually is required is more transformational innovation. And that requires actually asking a lot of questions. No, they say, I think Tony Robbins said the quality of Your life is the quality of the questions that you ask the rights of all tasks that judge your process by the quality by that by the questions, not their answers. And so if you really want to create those big seismic changes in your speaking career, there's transformational changes, to really step things up. And in a big, big way, it does require asking some more fundamental questions. And certainly, really thinking a little bit more kind of strategically as well. So there's definitely a place for incremental innovation, which is, you know, doing all those individual things. Sometimes it's called that the value chain, improving the value chain or efficient marketing know and improving the funnel, your marketing and sales funnel. And that's really important. But often, it's actually really important to do some of the bigger incremental innovation and asking those bigger questions so others may have questions for you. Big Questions could be around am I speaking in the right territory? am I working with the right partners? The right speaker bureaus? Is my topic that I'm speaking on, do I need to maybe switch up the angle? I'm coming on my topic, so it makes it a little bit more relevant. Where is the speaking industry going to be in the next five years? How do I change? We've got a lot of change in terms of online and offline asking some of those bigger questions will have a more profound effect on your speaking business, and it certainly has a more profound effect on the kind of transformational side of what you do. So my name is James Taylor, here in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Thanks for watching. #SpeakersLife #ProfessionalSpeaking

For our second podcast of Ops Fitness, meet Garry Pomerleau who is a Tactical Paramedic who has 20 plus years experience out of North Carolina in the United States.Find out how important fitness is towards his profession and how he overcame his accident. Plus why he will never use a BB gun again and what he really thinks of The Rock! 1. Tell me a little about yourself and how fitness has made an impact on your life, especially as a paramedic. Well, we have to go back a couple of years. I have been a paramedic for 25 years, and 28 years in the profession. I distinctly remember being about 19 or 20 years old and I was up at 1:00 in the morning. I remember being in high school and I never went to bed late; I was always an early to bed/early to rise kind of guy. On occasion I would be up late, but I was always doing something that wasn’t that late, so when I got into the EMS profession I was initially a volunteer and then, of course, became part of the paid staff where I was working in, and I distinctly remember being up at 1:00 in the morning and I was thinking that this was kinda neat and this was kinda cool and how did this happen? It was kind of like a little fold in my memory, if you will, on how things work out. A couple of years down the road I was probably 23 or 24 years old, and I was playing basketball, and I quickly caught on that I was out of shape. My mom commented that a lot of the guys who I worked with were kind of fat or were out of shape and she alluded to that, and I almost didn’t identify, and then it hit me. I was like wow, this is a huge issue. When I was a little older, and I moved a little bit more and had more aches and pains but didn’t sustain an injury until 2011. I hurt my back in ‘05, but that was such a minor incident that I only took one day off from work. But when it comes down to fitness once I started trying to get back into shape, ironically enough before I got married, I discovered the work that you had to put into it and profoundly how fitness and movement and everything plays together whether you are a paramedic or whether you are a paralegal or whatever you are it makes you do things better, it makes you move better, it makes you move more efficiently. It makes you just feel better in general. So over the years, it has been an interesting evolution that it was exercise, it was when you were working and moving, and then it became more a discussion of lifting better and doing better and then it became a conversation of just as you get older you don’t want to be limited. You hear so many people in this profession say it is a young man’s profession and I don't agree with that. It can be anyone's profession. I remember being a very young educator and having someone walk up to me who was in his mid 40’s and this guy is still a medic today, I mean 20 years later he is in his 60’s and working in the County here in North Carolina, and he is still out there doing it and he loves it. He has found a way to rejuvenate himself. I think that fitness and the impact as a medic is movement. You are meant to move; you are meant to lift things. If you believe it is too big of a quest for you, then you are defeated. It is a very interesting mix of how fitness plays hand in hand with being anything, especially in a very physical profession and especially in para medicine where you mentally and physically have to be in shape to be able to conquer a lot of the things that we see. 2. What was the hardest time of your life? What tools did you use to get through it? Everyone thinks about interesting times in their life, but I had a double whammy. In ‘09 I was working for a big agency here in North Carolina, fairly successful, I was doing very well. I was a lieutenant, and I was a tactical medic. Everything was coming together and then I had, I guess you could call it a falling out if you will, and it was almost like a mental breakdown or a mental meltdown. It shook my belief in any system to believe in anyo
