Ten years ago, Maggie Rogers was a senior at NYU, scrambling to finish a song for a music production class she was close to failing. The guest critic that week happened to be Pharrell Williams. She played him "Alaska," a track she'd written in about fifteen minutes. It is a bit of folk songwriting crossed with the electronic music she'd fallen for studying abroad. Pharrell told her he'd never heard anything that sounded like it. Someone was filming. The clip went viral, and it launched Maggie into pop stardom.  Ten years later, she's released three studio albums, earned a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, and gone back to school to pick up a master's from Harvard Divinity School, where she studied the spirituality of public gatherings. And in the last few months she's been as visible offstage as on — advocating for free speech in DC, performing for 200,000 people at a protest in Minneapolis alongside Joan Baez, and delivering a haunting performance during the final run of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which CBS is ending in May. This week host Charlie Harding got to sit down with Maggie live at Chelsea Studios, in front of a room of current NYU students. It's the same school, ten years later, now with Charlie in the professor's chair and Maggie as the visiting artist. Two-time GRAMMY and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominee Rich Robinson joins us to chat about his songwriting with The Black Crowes. PART ONE Paul and Scott talk about their deep Black Crowes history that goes all the way back to high school. Then they revert to their high school selves and try to make each other laugh by proposing ridiculous imaginary partnerships between artists and restaurant chains (think Michael McDonald's or Ice-T.G.I. Fridays).PART TWO Our in-depth conversation with Rich Robinson of The Black CrowesABOUT RICH ROBINSON Rich Robinson is best known as the founding guitarist and one of the two primary songwriters of The Black Crowes alongside his brother Chris. Formed in Atlanta, the band's 1990 debut album $hake Your Money Maker produced the successful singles “Jealous Again,” “She Talks to Angels,” “Seeing Things,” and a wildly popular cover of Otis Redding's “Hard to Handle.” The album earned the band a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist and was eventually certified five-times platinum. The multi-platinum follow-up, The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, debuted at number one on the Billboard album chart and yielded four consecutive chart-topping rock singles with “Remedy,” “Sting Me,” “Thorn in My Pride,” “and “Hotel Illness.” Subsequent releases such as Amorica, By Your Side, Lions, and Warpaint explored new sonic territory while remaining rooted in the quintessential Black Crowes aesthetic. In total, the band has released eleven studio albums, with 2024's Happiness Bastards, breaking a more than decade-long recording hiatus and earning the band another Grammy nomination. Over more than three decades of volatility, breakups, lineup shifts, and offstage drama, the Black Crowes are still making pure rock & roll at the highest level. Their latest album, A Pound of Feathers, was recently released, and they are among the nominees for potential induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for the class of 2026.  Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. The Marías is a band from Los Angeles, made up of María Zardoya, Josh Conway, Jesse Perlman, and Edward James. They released their first EPs in 2017 and 2018, and their first album in 2021. But then, as you'll hear, there was a period of a lot of uncertainty around the band's future. Eventually, their second album, Submarine, came out in 2024, and it was incredibly successful. Stereogum called it one of the best albums of the year, and the band was nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist. But all of that almost didn't happen. I talked to María about the making of their hit song “No One Noticed.” The story's beginning, middle, and end all took place during different eras of the band's existence. In the middle section, when maybe they weren't going to even be a band anymore, María enlisted the help of Grammy-nominated producer Gianluca Buccellati. The Grammys were pure chaos—Cher forgot to present an award, walked off stage, came back and accidentally announced Luther Vandross as the winner (he died in 2005). Bieber performed in his boxers, Lola Young dropped an F-bomb, and Olivia Dean won Best New Artist. Brooklyn Beckham's getting roasted for making "spaghetti bolognese" with orechiette pasta instead of actual spaghetti—guess he couldn't ear the recipe properly. A UFC fighter's toupee got knocked off mid-fight and he blamed his mum's shampoo. We opened the mailbag after announcing the big changes and listeners are in their feelings. Plus Mariah sat stone-faced watching artists attempt her impossible songs at the MusiCares tribute—her shade face was everything.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Dive into the group's rapid rise—from their 2023 formation on The Debut: Dream Academy (featured in Netflix's Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE) to their 2025 EP Beautiful Chaos, which debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 and remains charting strong. With members Sophia Laforteza, Lara Raj, Yoonchae Jeung, Megan Skiendiel, Daniela Avanzini, and Manon Bannerman blending global perspectives and K-pop precision with Western pop flair, KATSEYE continues to redefine the girl group landscape."Internet Girl" marks their biggest streaming debut yet, launching at #13 on Spotify Global Daily Top Songs with 2.871 million streams (US #6 with 919K streams), surpassing previous highs like "Gabriela."
