👋🏾 I’m Rebecca Nedelec— and I‘m fascinated by the nuances of social impact— how the activist convinced the big company, how the child prompted change (like seriously, Greta!) and really, that split moment where the influence was lit. Here, we’ll forget the big concepts and hear stories of the unseen moments that changed things for the better.

This episode was recorded back in the spring of 2021, when the conversation around COVID-19 vaccinations was different. As the world experienced lockdown, getting a vaccination out to the world was the number 1 priority. For some, that urgency felt like a responsibility to contribute in some way. And so 1DaySooner was born- a movement where 40,000 people globally raised their hands to participate in challenge trials if they were to be approved. What is a challenge trial? A choice to be voluntarily infected with COVID-19 in order to advance clinical trials and ultimately, get the vaccine out but 1 Day Sooner. Ultimately, challenge trials for the COVID-19 vaccine were not approved, but what did emerge from the actions of these 40,000 volunteers was solidarity and altruism. Something our world could use a little more of these days. Learn more about 1DaySooner HERE.
