Sigmund Freud was wicked smart. His concept of displacing one’s feelings onto a different person, aka projection, in order to avoid confronting uncomfortable or unacceptable feelings or impulses about oneself is a brilliant coping mechanism. “It’s not me, it’s totally you.” The problem with projection, Blazer Nation, is that it inhibits connection and keeps us from acceptance of our true self. Noone is perfect and when we project we fail to recognize our own faults and insecurities. We don’t own our s&*t and we get stuck. This week Katie and Nora talk projection and wonder what each of us assumes about others. What qualities do we unfairly attribute to others in order to shame dump? How do we reconcile blame shifting and how can we stop the projection cycle? Better yet, how do we recognize when and why we project (because, let’s face it, we all do) and what can we do to healthily cope when we are in a self-critical state? As always, we want to hear from (gorgeous) YOU!! What assumptions do you make? Tell us how you project? Been projected on? How do you recognize when you aren’t owning your S*&%? What do you do when no one is watching, Blazer Nation? Do you keep your promises? Do you tell the truth? Are you a person of your word? This week, Katie and Nora talk integrity - in the workplace, in your relationships and with yourself. We talk the talk, but do we walk the walk? Dive deep in the “I” word to avoid the traps, follow your moral compass and stay the course. How does your self-story get in the way of living a life of integrity? Before we can be our best selves we need to know ourselves. In order to honor our truth we need to be honest with ourselves about WHO we want to be and WHAT our values are. What virtues are our non-negotiables? At our core, what is our character? Are we the person we say we are when the path gets difficult? Do we falter in the face of adversity? Do we cut corners? This episode is an integral (see what I did there?) part of our journey to become, be, and remain our best selves - so tune in! Hey! We went FaceBook LIVE for number 53! You know, ‘cuz we’re so tech savvy… Like our FaceBook page and follow us to keep up-to-date and be part of the party. As always, we want to hear from (gorgeous) YOU!! Do you believe you live with integrity? What trips you up? Have you been successful in your resolutions (let’s get to that 8%)? Share your tips and tricks? How much water are you drinking? What is your self-story and how does it align with the person you aim to be? Is your self- story in line with or in conflict with your integrity? Spill the tea - we want to hear it all!! Happy New Year, Blazer Nation! New year, new us, right?? This year I am going to lose 50 pounds, pay off all debt, quit booze, stop drinking caffeine, run a marathon, become a golf pro, cure cancer, and purchase every child a puppy dog. Oh, who am I kidding? I could never stop drinking caffeine - hello? COFFEE!! If you're anything like 92% of the population, Blazer Nation, you have follow-through issues when it comes to your resolutions. Why is it so difficult to make, keep and succeed when it comes to the goals we set for ourselves? Perhaps it's because of our lack of planning. Because we search for the easy way out. We lack follow through and support. We have an inability to see the forest through the trees. Maybe we aren't willing to make a "firm purpose of amendment" (thank you, Bob Conlon). What if the self-story we tell ourselves is in direct conflict with our goal? This week Katie and Nora hash all things resolutions and we invite you along on our journey. Let's finally be part of the eight percent, Blazer Nation. Let's stop being wishy washy and start believing in ourselves and trusting in our ability to work hard for what we want.As always, we want to hear from (gorgeous) YOU!! What are your resolutions? Have you been successful in your goals? Share your tips and tricks? How do you think Katie is faring in her 75 Hard AF Day challenge? Boundaries. Wanna talk about 'em? Well here it goes... Free your mind, Blazer Nation and tune in this week to gab with the girls about boundaries. Not to be confused with over-sharing (think - areolas), boundaries are the limits you decide work for you on how others can treat you, how others can behave around you, and what others can expect from you. You might have a boundaries problem if, you're constantly taking responsibility for other people's feelings and reactions and/or expecting others to take responsibility for your own feelings or reactions. Sound complicated? Not your circus, Blazer Nation. Struggle with guilt? Anxiety? Decision making? Sounds like a boundaries problem to us. Setting clear boundaries is a sign of physical and emotional health. You don't need to please everyone. You don't need to sacrifice your own comfort and well-being for the sake of anyone else's. Repeat after Nora. "No." Did you know that "no" is a complete sentence? Explanation not needed. Stop pleasing and start living. Gain confidence. Earn respect. Walk the walk and blazer up!As always, we want to hear from (gorgeous) YOU!! Did this episode resonate? Do you struggle with establishing clear boundaries? Are you a people pleaser? How have you handled a boundary blunder? What are your top threes? We want to hear it all!!We'll be taking a Holiday Hiatus, BUT can't wait to re-connect in the new year! See you back in Blazer Nation on January 6th, 2021 (woohooo!!!) - until then, be well, be safe, be happy and be kind! xoxoFollow us on Instagram at wednesdayblazernation#wednesdayblazernationCheck out our website: onwednesdayswewearblazers.comContact us thru our website or wednesdayblazernation@gmail.comTell us your stories, recommend a charity, let us know if you'd like to be a guest! Tune in and listen to us and a few of our faithful followers dish all things friendship. In honor of our 50th, we decided to invite some BN friends to the discussion to dish and celebrate with us. So, what are the benefits of friendship? The social structures? The hierarchy of friendship? The traps of friendship? And - do you have the eight types of friends needed for success?? Remember the honeymoon phase? The days where everything he or she said was perfection? The magical make-out sessions that you hoped would never end? Now think of the moments when his breathing irritated you? The times you thought looking at her for one more second might make you puke? Was it his lopsided face? Her smell of communicable disease or hereditary incompatibility (it's totally a thing)? What makes us such suckers for love? And, why can love be such a sucker punch? This week Katie and Nora fall hard for and dive deep into the L-Word. That's right, Blazer Nation - we are talking LOVE. Learn about the four stages of love and how our hormones totally f&*k us up at every turn. Forgive yourself - the dopamine made you blind. Let go of the past - it was all that crazy oxytocin. Intuition, or the ability to understand something immediately without the need for conscious reasoning, is powerful and real. When we are able to tap into and TRUST ourselves the world becomes our oyster, Blazer Nation. This week Katie and Nora gab about the powerful connections between our intuition and our mental well being. Learning how to listen to our gut and trusting our ability to understand ourselves leads to a calmer, happier and better YOU. So tune in (literally and figuratively) and let your internal compass shine. Learn the difference between expansive and contractive feelings, accept the gift that is fear, gain confidence and slow down. If all else fails - remember to apologize later and get the hell out of situations that make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. As the OG's of True Crime podcasting always say - "F%&k politeness."We want to hear from (gorgeous) YOU!! When has your intuition, your North Star, if you will, saved you? You, Gorgeous, may be a world class "ruminator" - cue dramatic music. What is compassion? If you're like Nora, you think you know, but you're only going so far. There is a hierarchy to compassion - beginning with pity, inching towards sympathy, creeping into the empathy realm and ending with the big C. Compassion is being willing to aid in someone else's struggle to end his or her suffering. It's loaded, Blazer Nation. It's easy to show compassion to those of us we love, but how can we give compassion to those people we cannot stand? We live in a very polarizing world. There is a lot of divisiveness around us - think politics, pandemic, social injustice, and unrest - you smell what we're stepping in. How can we show compassion? How can we take on the struggles of others when our own struggles can be suffocating. Tune in this week and listen to Katie and Nora hash it out. "Just like us," you too can follow the teachings of the Dalai Lama and practice being compassionate both with yourself and others. Newsflash - like most areas in life, compassion is a muscle that needs to be flexed in order to grow. Start the work here. As always, we want to hear from YOU!! Hint - make it conversational and not transactional. #givegiveget. Perhaps, you're already networking and doing a damn good job. Listen up and learn, Blazer Nation. Merriam Webster defines success as "the fact of getting or achieving wealth, respect, or fame." But, is it? Are fame, wealth and respect synonymous with success? This week, Katie and Nora are a study in success. Tune in and listen as we examine the four tenants of success and soul search to define success for ourselves. Success is personal and subjective. So stop looking at other people's yoga mats, Blazer Nation. You do you and establish your own definition of success. Here's Nora's (second attempt) definition: Success is my ability to remain curious, full of awe, perseverant, honest, authentic, loving, loved, never complacent, healthy and above all always kind not only in the face of adversity but also when the going is easy.As always, we want to hear from YOU, Blazer Nation?
