On today's episode of Hustle and Flowchart, I sat down with Helen Christoni, an expert in reverse osmosis (RO) water filtration and marketing. We delved deep into the dangers of tap water and the necessity of clean water and the effectiveness of RO systems. The episode covered important topics like how these systems work, why they are essential for health, especially for children, and the role of social media in spreading this crucial information. Our conversation also brought to light the entrepreneurial aspects of scaling a business rooted in wellness technology.Water Filtration MethodsHelen explained the difference in taste and quality between regular single filters and advanced reverse osmosis (RO) systems. RO systems like AquaTru use a four-stage filtration process to remove harmful contaminants such as forever chemicals, drug residues, and antibiotics. While many commercial bottle filling stations only address chlorine and lead, AquaTru tackles a wide range of pollutants.Importance of Changing FiltersChanging filters regularly in fridges and pitchers is crucial to avoid contamination. Neglecting this can result in more harm than good. Helen emphasized that even the best filters lose effectiveness over time, and timely replacements are necessary for maintaining water quality.AquaTru's Mission and ProductsHelen Christoni highlighted that AquaTru is the first patented countertop RO system designed specifically for families. The company just released AquaTru Pro for enterprise settings, equipped with certified bottle filling stations. These products aim to provide pure water, free of contaminants, for homes and businesses.Effective Filtration for ChildrenWe also talked about the importance of water filtration for children, advocating for heightened awareness about environmental toxins. By incorporating high-quality water filtration systems at home, parents can significantly reduce their kids' exposure to harmful chemicals.Utilizing the Environmental Working Group (EWG) WebsiteHelen suggested checking local water contaminants using the Environmental Working Group (EWG) website. This resource allows people to see what's in their tap water, giving them informed reasons to invest in quality water purification systems.Environmental Working Group (EWG) WebsiteSocial Media and Marketing StrategiesHelen stresses the pivotal role of social media in making complex scientific information relatable. Platforms like TikTok allow for shareable, bite-sized content that people can easily engage with. Instead of long-form content like webinars, focused, engaging videos spread the message of water purification more effectively.Partnering for ImpactStrong partnerships and authentic connections are crucial for AquaTru's business. Helen prefers genuine relationships over large-scale, impersonal campaigns. Success in their affiliate programs comes from having a small group of dedicated partners who share the company's mission and create genuine content.Addressing Water ContaminantsHelen shared her personal “aha moment” when she discovered several cancer-causing contaminants in her local water. This led to broader discussions about the limitations of boiling water and the persistence of chemicals like Chromium 6 and fluoride. AquaTru's certified to remove 84 contaminants, including microplastics, offers a solution to these health hazards.Personal Health Stories and MotivationHelen's journey from the beauty industry to wellness was fueled by a personal health crisis—severe osteoporosis due to early menopause. This experience reshaped her approach to...

How the mental load takes over women's livesHow not to lose yourself in motherhood"I resent the fact that you (dads) get to maintain your individuality, while I do not."The Mental Load often takes over women's lives leaving us feeling unfulfilled and like we lost ourselves in motherhood. It's a form of identity theft that nobody warns us about. When you become a mom, everyone starts to view you as "{insert kid's name} mom" while dads don't become {insert kid's name} dad". Men get to retain their individuality while women are taught to only look at the positive of motherhood. That kids are a gift and you should feel blessed...all the time. And nobody prepares us for this identity theft that happens immediately. We're swallowed into motherhood and suddenly find ourselves lacking time and energy for anything but mothering. Which leaves us struggling to feel like we haven't lost ourselves. In today's episode, Angie and Katlynn explore why, when we take on the mental load, it feels like we lose ourselves because:We have less time to think of and anticipate my own needs so I feel blindsided by them (KP)We have no time to think freely or do something that feels luxuriousThere's no more time to do my own personal hobbiesOthers assuming that our only role and source of satisfaction is our childrenWe start feeling guilty that I have this huge privilege of raising kids but harboring this “secret” that we want more out of life than just being a momNew this season:reach us at: thementalloadpodcast@gmail.comSupport us when you buy merch from our store

She homeschools her two children (aged 10 & 7) on the Surfcoast of Victoria where they are surrounded by national park, the beach and immersed in nature.SUMMARYHow Micarlé and her husband came to be living in Anglesea, her long standing connection to this small seaside town and wanting for her kids what both she and her husband had growing up in small country town communitiesMicarlé's education saw her throwing herself into everything and anything and milking school for the all extracurriculars on offer, in contrast to her husband's experience feeling disengaged from learning and not being reached by his teachersAs a service orientated person she was drawn to the teaching profession and taught in a range of secondary schools before taking the leap into home educating her own childrenWe discuss applied learning pathways for teens in high school, a space she worked in for many years under the VCAL/VCEVM program and how different schools have differing stigmas around these streamsAfter 15 years teaching in the secondary space, she began questioning whether the mainstream school system would even work for her own childrenMicarlé recalls how the pandemic gave their family a glimpse into what homeschooling could be like and how they transitioned over the lock down years from remote learning and remote teaching to fully fledged homeschoolersBusting the myth “You're a teacher, it makes sense for you to homeschool" - deschooling for any parent is hard but deschooling for teachers is even harderHomeschooling has given their daughter time and space to rebuild her confidence and self-worth and for that reason alone it has been the best decision they ever madeHow Micarlé came to be the owner of Fearless Homeschool and what to expect from the 8th Australian Homeschooling Summit, that runs from the 4th-15th March 2024The summit includes 30+ online workshops such as how to afford homeschooling, curriculum comparisons, sustainable living, feeling empowered in unschooling, as well as teen, graduate, neurodiversity and tech panels. This podcast is from Just Know How Coaching, presented by Stephanie Steggehuis a NLP Coach with her focus on Time Management and Mindset. In today's episode we talk about: Growth Mindset for ChildrenWe all generally tend towards one of two types of mindsets: a fixed mindset or a growth mindset. We as parents or teachers, or anyone working with kids. Have it in our hands what kind of mindset they develop. Especially in the age up to 8 years old their brain is really implementing the mindset they get to learn. Praise that focuses on intelligence promotes a fixed mindset, which is the belief that intelligence cannot be changed in any meaningful way. Children with a fixed mindset believe they are born with certain character traits and a fixed amount of intelligence and creativity, and that nothing they do will change that in any meaningful way.A growth mindset, which is the belief that intelligence can grow and be strengthened with effort. Children with a growth mindset believe that they are capable of achieving what they want if they put in the time and effort to get there. In this episode I talk about the tips and tricks on how you can help your kids implement the Growth Mindset! In this special episode I talk with my dear college friend Tina Jayes about growing up as the sibling in a house where her brother was addicted to drugs and the dysfunction of that combined with an alcoholic mom and little supervision or money. She shares so much:the heartbreak of losing her adored, older brother to an overdose how a lack of resources contributed to keeping him in an unhealthy lifestylewhat she wishes her mom would have done to help her understand what was going on with her brotherhow her mom and brother's addiction has impacted her life todayher choices around communicating hard information when raising her own childrenthoughts for parents wondering how to talk to their "other" childrenWe transition from the sibling conversation to self-care and coping strategies she recommends based on her life experience and over 16 years in the beauty industry. We talk all things from maca powder to boxing, puffy eyes, and cucumber facials. Tina gives us practical but important ways to take care of our bodies and minds when faced with incredible life-challenges.This is a great episode to listen to if you have a child with substance use disorder and there are other kids in the home, and if you're looking for ways to feel better as you endure the pain that's related to your child's addiction. We usually think of faith as an active, personal commitment to Christ. This is true, but it's only part of what faith is. Faith is also a treasure we inherit, so that future generations can be blessed. This sermon on 2 Timothy challenges us to see faith not only as a personal benefit to us, but also the way God gathers a community of people over time. This challenge works out in a responsibility to consider how we pass faith to our children, and how we help our church pass faith on to future generationsScripture Reference: 2 Timothy 1:1-14Preached on the 17th Sunday after Pentecost, October 6th, 2019 by Rev. Stephen SilverthorneSermon HighlightsThe modern church stresses individual relationship with GodSaint Paul stresses responsibility of community in passing on faithFaith is an inheritance to receiveFaith is an inheritance to nurtureWe are called to pass it to our childrenWe are called to make sacrifices to help our church pass it onFurther InterestComrade Detective A satirical look at propaganda in Eastern Europe during communist rule. Some stories in the bible are so well known, they have a tendency to lose their power from over-hearing. The story of the prodigal son is one of those stories. Yet, when we read it with fresh eyes we start to see why it has become so popular. It is a story of profound challenge and profound hope. In this sermon, Fr. Stephen explores why the story of the prodigal son should shock us into a greater trust in God and a greater love for people who wander far from the right path.Scripture references: Luke 15:11-32Preached on the Fourth Sunday in Lent, March 31, 2019 by Rev. Stephen SilverthorneSermon HighlightsThe prodigal son's ruin brought shame to his familyThe father's acceptance shows he doesn't care how his love looks to othersGod is more concerned with saving His children than with obeying our idea of fairnessBoth sons failed to trust that they were beloved childrenWe can trust we are children because God says we areThe story teaches patience to parents with wayward kidsFurther ReadingThe Road to Wigan Pier by George Orwell See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
