Hello lovelies! Please be aware todays episode discusses mental health, eating disorders, medication/drug use, bullying and body image/dysmorphia. Nothing is backed by any relevant sources or articles. This is all based off personal experience, and no advice should be taken without consulting with a relevant medical professional. Please see bottom of show notes for mental health support links. In todays episode I decided to really open up about:- My backstory about where body image issues become known to myself, and how I allowed some other individuals dictate the way I viewed myself which then ultimately affected my actions- The vicious cycle I found myself in due to a poor relationship with food, binge eating issues, and lack of education/support- Why I have kept this story relatively 'hush hush' despite newspapers and other individuals asking me to speak out about this particular circumstance- Reflecting and understanding that competing in bodybuilding was initially for the wrong reasons. I was seeking gratification and peer support despite all the warning signs I needed to heal my body image issues first. - How reflections, lessons and time allowed me to move forward to improve my mental health, increase my self-confidence and my ability to be a good athlete/bodybuilder- Post-comp being a really dark place if you have not prepared for it or understood any previous issues you need to unravel first.- Learning to love yourself regardless of how you LOOK or what others think of you- Why I choose to not spend a majority of my off-season tracking macros/calories and hyper-focusing on being a bodybuilder- Finding other hobbies or aspects of life that support your ability to overcome confidence or body image issues. As a bodybuilder, we should be more than just that.- How social media can actually open us up for others to judge us.. filters and only showcasing your best can allow others to pry- Update and overview of my experience with my ADHD diagnosis and ADHD medication so far, 3 weeks in. - How resurfacing some trauma to external mental health support actually negatively impacted my mental stability initially Where to find Brooke:@brookehoskin@openbrookepodcastMental Health Support Services:https://www.lifeline.org.au/ - 13 11 14https://www.respect.org.au/ - 1800 737 732https://www.relationshipsnsw.org.au/https://www.beyondblue.org.au/ - 1300 22 4636https://www.suicidecallbackservice.org.au/ - 1300 659 467https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/mentalhealth/Pages/mental-health-line.aspx - 1800 011 511https://www.openarms.gov.au/ - 1800 011 046https://headspace.org.au/Support the show Support the show

Hello lovelies. Please be aware todays episode discusses mental health and mental conditions, and is not backed by any relevant sources or articles. This is all based off personal experience, and no advice should be taken without consulting with a relevant medical professional. Hello everyone! I hope you are well. Please be aware that todays episode does discuss drug use, mental health issues and even suicide. Please see the bottom of show notes for mental health support links. All discussion is based on personal opinions and experiences, and is not backed my science or medical data. Today we have Dave, the owner of Natural Weapon Nutrition (NW Nutrition) who is an experienced personal trainer, nutrition coach, powerlifter and business owner. Dave has a great wealth of knowledge and experience in the fitness world, but also has a very open mind. This makes Dave the perfect candidate for todays interview, as I really wanted someone to talk from both perspectives on the PED discussion. In todays episode we talk about:A little bit about who Dave is, his experience and about his businessWhat are Dave's goals for NW Nutrition and what barriers has he faced running his online supplement and health retail storeHow did Dave become aware of PED use, and is it common? Are people who take PEDs lazy? Is it a magic pill? The pros and the cons of taking PEDs, and what the individual needs to be aware of before considering use (be aware some CONS seem extreme, but are true)Safe ways to minimise long term effects (such as seeking medical advice)How some people 'do some dodgy sh*t'Do people in natural/tested sport use? How do they get away with it?Do you need PEDs to be successful in some sports? When is an appropriate time for someone to consider use?The reality of PED use in social media, and coaches forcing it down clients throatsParents opening discussions with their children as they get into the fitness or sporting world to create a safe space for their child to minimise poor use Where to find Dave/NW Nutrition:Website - https://nwnutrition.com.au/ Instagram - @nwnutrition Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/nwnutrition.au Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnTBG8hUVo-s3Y3QWz3DnZQ Email - info@nwnutrition.com.auWhere to find Brooke:@brookehoskin@openbrookepodcastMental Health Support Services:https://www.lifeline.org.au/ - 13 11 14https://www.beyondblue.org.au/ - 1300 22 4636https://www.suicidecallbackservice.org.au/ - 1300 659 467https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/mentalhealth/Pages/mental-health-line.aspx - 1800 011 511https://www.openarms.gov.au/ - 1800 011 046https://headspace.org.au/ Support the show

So, it's time I be honest and open up a different can of worms today. It's very easy as competitors to show the good side on social media. Especially when you want a goal so bad..But it is beyond normal to experience extreme difficulties or lack of drive. This prep was very hard for me mentally due to some inner work I need to focus on post-comp. While I don't delve too deep, have a listen and hopefully it might make you feel a little more at ease knowing that bikini pros struggle too..@brookehoskin@openbrookepodcast Support the show

Hello beautiful people! Welcome back once again. Today's episode we get a little deep, and talk about "Human Design". I chat with my good friend, Tess, who is a human design reader. Tess knows a lot about human design after finding a passion for it during her dancing career and lockdown. Human design basically is the definition of who we are and how we use our energy to live our lives. If you love manifestation, astrology, readings etc... this is the kind of topic that will resonate with you. In fact, I think if you want to learn more about yourself, this is a great place to start. You can find your free human design chart here. But if you are not thriving, don't worry... that makes two (million times 4 to equal 8 million) of us!Obviously, COVID-19 has f**ked everything. Bodybuilding/bikini comps being one of those things. The athletes prepping for these shows would be feeling so hard done by and are most likely struggling. Today I want to shed some light to show my love to those people, and also remind the OTHERS to not tell them shit they don't want or need to hear! Let's provide each other with some support

However, It is still so hard to act like we shouldn't live normally. We compare ourselves to others, and beat ourselves up for not achieving certain things.
