„Walking to Germany… No money, no train, bus or taxi,“ říká pro ZdraveZpravy.cz lámavou angličtinou mladý Syřan, který s mnoha dalšími Syřany tráví na pražském hlavním nádraží už několikátý den. Což děláme s maximální intenzitou a jakákoliv ´péče´ o uprchlíky a osoby pohybující se v okolí nádraží není v naší kompetenci,“ vysvětluje. V podobném duchu pro ZdraveZpravy.cz odpovídá vedoucí oddělení médií a tiskový mluvčí pražského magistrátu Vít Hofman: „Situaci na Hlavním nádraží bedlivě sledujeme a řídíme se pokyny Policie ČR. Pan primátor je ostatně kvůli tomu v kontaktu s krajským ředitelem Policie ČR. […]

Snowden, 39, fled the United States to Russia after revealing information about extensive surveillance operations being conducted by the National Security Agency (NSA). He is now a Russian citizen by presidential decree, Reuters reported Monday. The announcement comes roughly two years after Russia granted Snowden permanent residency in the country. The country first granted Snowden asylum in 2014 and has since resisted calls to extradite him to the U.S. Snowden faces espionage charges that could land him in prison for up to 30 years in the U.S. Strategic intelligence expert and author of "Putin’s Playbook" Rebekah Koffler says the move likely signals that Snowden is working more closely with the Russian government. She says he is likely now subject to Putin's mobilization order but will be assisting Russian intelligence rather than serving on the front lines. Snowden stated in 2019 that he would be willing to return to the U.S. on the condition that he got a fair trial. "That is the ultimate goal, but if I’m going to spend the rest of my life in prison then my one bottom-line demand that we all have to agree to is that at least I get a fair trial," Snowden told "CBS This Morning" at the time. Former President Donald Trump had stated he was considering Snowden's case for a potential pardon in 2020 but never took action. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has been one of Snowden's major allies in the U.S., saying the whistleblower unveiled schemes by the U.S. government to surveil American citizens both here and abroad. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/congress-flirts-government-shutdown-manchin-permitting-bill-drag-down-funding-package On to our government here at home: Congress flirts with government shutdown as Manchin permitting bill may drag down funding package The government is days away from shutting down, and the Senate may not have the votes to pass the initial version of its funding bill as top Democrats press ahead on a deal with Sen. Joe Manchin that may fail Tuesday. Manchin, D-W.Va., agreed to help Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., pass Democrats' social tax and spending bill last month. In exchange, Schumer promised Manchin a vote on an energy permitting reform to speed new projects. They are combining that with a government funding bill that must pass by Friday night or else trigger a government shutdown. However, with a major test vote with a 60-vote threshold set for Tuesday night, the legislation may not have the support to pass, with opposition coming from both parties. Manchin's office says he is still optimistic. Schumer has also insisted he will follow through on his deal with Manchin. He said Thursday he is "working hard to have it pass." If the vote fails, Congress will be forced to scramble to pass a government funding bill before midnight Friday. That could be a tall task with three legislative days to spare. It is possible that Manchin's permitting reform provision will be stripped from the funding bill if it fails Tuesday night, so lawmakers can advance the rest of the package later in the week. However, that timing could be close. Among options to help avert a shutdown, lawmakers could pass a one-day or two-day funding bill before passing a bigger package to keep the government funded until after the elections. Another possibility would be both parties in the Senate could cooperate to speed along the funding bill and beat the Friday night buzzer. Other issues may also impact votes on the funding bill. According to a source, the package will include disaster relief for Jackson, Mississippi, winter heating assistance, Food and Drug Administration user fee reauthorization and more than $12 billion in new assistance for Ukraine. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., is pushing fellow liberal Democrats to oppose the bill because he does not want to speed along new fossil fuel projects. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., says she wants permitting reform and the funding bill voted on separately. Additionally, the more moderate Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., said he is upset about language that would give special treatment to the Mountain Valley Pipeline project in West Virginia. None of those Democrats have explicitly said yet that they will vote against the government funding package over the permitting reform bill. Even if more Republicans break ranks and vote for the funding bill with Manchin's permitting reform, it is still unclear if it will be enough for the bill to clear the 60-vote filibuster threshold. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is funding a Clinton Health Access Initiative aimed at making developing countries reliant on China for healthcare and medical products, The National Pulse can reveal. The Microsoft co-founder’s foundation authorized a $560,021 grant to the Clinton Health Access Initiative in September, which will run for 18 months. The Clinton Health Access Initiative was originally a part of the controversial Clinton Foundation started by former President Bill Clinton but spun off into a separate organization in 2010 though Chelsea Clinton – the daughter of the former president and his wife Hillary – joined the initiative’s board in 2011. The purpose of the grant is “to leverage manufacturing capabilities in China to increase supply security and enhance the supply of key health commodities in low- and middle-income countries.” While the foundation omitted any further details on how the objective would be accomplished, the grant will likely boost China’s manufacturing capabilities and make countries reliant on the communist nation for “key” healthcare items. The grant comes amidst China rolling out its controversial “Belt and Road” initiative, a key component of the regime’s efforts to expand its control globally through predatory infrastructure loans. As the U.S. State Department has warned, Beijing “uses the Belt and Road Initiative and other undertakings to expand foreign markets for Chinese companies and as a means of drawing nations, particularly their political and economic elites, into Beijing’s geopolitical orbit.” China has been accused of using similar tactics amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, engaging in “healthcare diplomacy” to broaden its influence over developing countries. Products manufactured in the country also often have poor efficacy and are tainted with toxic chemicals. The Gates Foundation grant appears to aid the Chinese Communist Party’s ambitions to intertwine itself within the healthcare infrastructure of countries across the world. The unearthed grant follows Bill Gates’s long history of working with the Chinese Communist Party on business and philanthropic ventures. His foundation appears to demonstrate a similar affinity for the Communist regime, sending sizable grants to additional Chinese entities, including those with ties to the lab believed to be the birthplace of COVID-19. https://thepostmillennial.com/alex-baldwin-likely-to-face-charges-in-shooting-death-of-cinematographer-halyna-hutchins?utm_campaign=64487 In entertainment news… Alex Baldwin likely to face charges in shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins Alec Baldwin is likely to be charged for shooting and killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of his low budget movie Rust in Bonanza City, New Mexico on October 21, 2021. The Daily Mail reports that Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies submitted a letter on August 30 to the New Mexico financial board, asking for funding to indict four defendants and that it was recently approved. In the letter Carmack-Altwie wrote, "One of the possible defendants is well known movie actor Alec Baldwin." Carmack-Altwie asked for $635,000 to prosecute and said that murder charges were on the table along with other weapons related offenses. She said that a "final piece of evidence" was Baldwin's phone, as authorities were waiting results from its analysis. After the shooting, Baldwin had issued a statement: "There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours." The movie was filming at the Bonanza Creek Ranch, a popular production location south of Santa Fe. Baldwin was also a producer on the film and previously said he doesn't blame himself for the accident. "I feel that someone is responsible for what happened, and I can't say who that is, but I know it's not me," Baldwin previously said. He said that 24-year-old armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed handed him the gun and he thought it was prepared properly. Gutierrez-Reed has denied she did anything wrong but she was named by Hutchins' family in a wrongful death lawsuit as being responsible for the tragedy In August, an FBI analysis concluded that Alec Baldwin pulled the trigger of the gun that killed cinematographer Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza. And now… it’s time for my favorite topic, sports! https://mynorthwest.com/3614418/rantz-sounders-fans-coach-throw-player-under-bus-over-different-political-opinion/ Sounders fans, coach throw player under bus over different political opinion An online mob of radical Seattle Sounders FC fans went after the team’s star defender. And his coach threw him under the bus. Xavier Arreaga (ARI-AGA) posted a political cartoon to his Instagram account. It depicted a TV sending rainbows into the brains of two kids, while handing the boy a dress, and the girl men’s pants. Behind the kids, two parents are tied up. The point was to call out the media for trying to influence or confuse kids on gender identity. Intolerant fans slammed Arreaga for not holding a position they disagree with. Some pretended the cartoon was “violence,” while others criticized him for being religious. Some want the Sounders to kick him off the team. And his fate may be determined by how he reacts to shameful, intolerant re-education attempts by the head coach. Arreaga’s position, in as much as the comic represented it, is mainstream. While culture warriors on the Left aim to bully folks into submission, there is widespread concern that the media (along with educators and activists) is pushing adult issues on children. They’re indoctrinating kids with extreme left-wing views on gender, claiming gender is fluid and biology doesn’t matter. Whether or not you subscribe to this criticism is immaterial: it’s a common position that people of all political stripes hold. But in Seattle, you must hold the “right” position — the one the city’s most extreme activists demand you hold. Sounders fans are disproportionately progressive and socialist. A subsection of the group is irredeemably aggressive in their demands that you think exactly as you do. The overwhelmingly white group of activists gets especially angry when a racial or ethnic minority strays from the script. And they came out in full force against Arreaga. After Twitter uproar, and what some speculate was a conversation with the Sounders communications staff, the Ecuadorian defender responded with an apology. “Dear Fans – Last night I reposted a post of a famous Christian artist in my Instagram stories which at the time seemed normal to me and without thinking that this image was going to cause [sic] and hurt the people of our community, which never it [sic] was my intention. I want to express that I respect the way of life and thinking of all people. Thank you,” Arreaga wrote. Head coach Brian Schmetzer is a nice guy and a talented coach. But when he spoke to bloggers demanding he react to Arreaga’s post, Schmetzer came off as a condescending, ideological bigot. He’s the literal White Knight who is demanding the Ecuadorian think differently. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?ref=external&v=620965259559336 - Play 0:00-1:04 This has been your CrossPolitic Daily News Brief. This is Garrison Hardie with your CrossPolitic Daily News Brief for Tuesday, September 27th, 2022. I hope you and your family had a great weekend with you and yours, so here’s what you may have missed, over the weekend! First… FLF Conference Plug: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word didn’t stay in Heaven. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory of the Father, full of grace and truth. Grace and Truth became flesh. The Word became flesh. The story of God’s grace became flesh. And it is that Word, that truth, that story that will fill the world. That is why this year’s Fight Laugh Feast Conference in Knoxville Tennessee is on Lies, Propaganda, storytelling, and the serrated edge. The Word is a sword. The Word is our glory. So join us, October 6-8, as we fight, laugh, and feast, with beer & psalms, speakers including Pastor Doug Wilson, George Gilder, Ben Merkle, Jared Longshore, and Pastor Toby Sumpter, Chocolate Knox will be doing a round table with the Wilsons and Merkles on why stories are so potent for building family cultures that wine, all culminating in a live show with Megan Basham and Jason Whitlock talking Lies and Journalism. And we just announced a one day Saturday-only pass for 99$. Tomasz Rožycki: Teorija praznine

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 29, 2022 5:18

Różycki, soimenjak legendarnega češkega nogometaša, zelo svobodno in z užitkom preigrava ritme in rime. Pesmi v prvem delu opusa pogosto govorijo skozi perspektivo dveh. Svet je doživet izrazito skozi izkušnjo ljubezenskega sobivanja in skupnega zaznavanja. Dva sta povezana v razcepu in razcepljena v povezanosti. Držita vsak svoj tečaj, skozi katerega se vliva svet v svoji barviti trpkosti. Tu so pesmi izraziteje zaznamovane z neposrednostjo občutja, medtem ko v poznejšem opusu vanje vstopa tudi filozofija in z njo filozofsko motrenje.

A k tomu navyše efekty extrémneho charakteru. Nastali a budú pokračovať. Dan Mitchinson: Trump spurned aides' pleas to call off Capitol mob

Heather du Plessis-Allan Drive

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 22, 2022 3:49

Despite desperate pleas from aides, allies, a Republican congressional leader and even his family, Donald Trump refused to call off the Jan. 6 mob attack on the Capitol, instead “pouring gasoline on the fire” by aggressively tweeting his false claims of a stolen election and celebrating his crowd of supporters as “very special," the House investigating committee showed Thursday night. The next day, he declared anew, “I don't want to say the election is over." That was in a previously unaired outtake of an address to the nation he was to give, shown at the prime-time hearing of the committee. The panel documented how for some 187 minutes, from the time Trump left a rally stage sending his supporters to the Capitol to the time he ultimately appeared in the Rose Garden video, nothing could compel the defeated president to act. Instead, he watched the violence unfold on TV. “President Trump didn't fail to act,” said Rep. Adam Kinzinger, a fellow Republican but frequent Trump critic who flew combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. “He chose not to act.” After months of work and weeks of hearings, the prime-time session started the way the committee began — laying blame for the deadly attack on Trump himself for summoning the mob to Washington and sending them to Capitol Hill. The defeated president turned his supporters' “love of country into a weapon,” said the panel's Republican vice chair Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming. Far from finishing its work after Thursday's hearing, probably the last of the summer, the panel will start up again in September as more witnesses and information emerge. Cheney said “the dam has begun to break” on revealing what happened that fateful day, at the White House as well as in the violence at the Capitol. “Donald Trump made a purposeful choice to violate his oath of office,” Cheney declared. “Every American must consider this: Can a president who is willing to make the choices Donald Trump made during the violence of Jan. 6 ever be trusted in any position of authority in our great nation?” she asked. Trump, who is considering another White House run, dismissed the committee as a “Kangaroo court,” and name-called the panel and witnesses for “many lies and misrepresentations.” Plunging into its second prime-time hearing on the Capitol attack, the committee aimed to show a “minute by minute” accounting of Trump's actions with new testimony, including from two White House aides, never-before-heard security radio transmissions of Secret Service officers fearing for their lives and behind-the-scenes discussions at the White House. With the Capitol siege raging, Trump was “giving the green light” to his supporters by tweeting condemnation of Vice President Mike Pence's refusal to go along with his plan to stop the certification of Joe Biden's victory, a former White House aide told the committee. Two aides resigned on the spot. “I thought that Jan. 6 2021, was one of the darkest days in our nation's history,” Sarah Matthews told the panel. “And President Trump was treating it as a celebratory occasion. So it just further cemented my decision to resign.” The committee played audio of Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, reacting with surprise to the president's inaction during the attack. “You're the commander-in-chief. You've got an assault going on on the Capitol of the United States of America. And there's Nothing? No call? Nothing, Zero?” he said. On Jan. 6, an irate Trump demanded to be taken to the Capitol after his supporters had stormed the building, well aware of the deadly attack, but his security team refused. “Within 15 minutes of leaving the stage, President Trump knew that the Capitol was besieged and under attack,” said Rep. Elaine Luria, D-Va. At the Capitol, the mob was chanting “Hang Mike Pence,” testified Matt Pottinger, the former deputy national security adviser, as Trump tweeted his condemnation of his vice president. Pottinger, testifying Thursday, said that when he saw Trump's tweet he immediately decided to resign, as did Matthews, who said she was a lifelong Republican but could not go along with what was going on. She was the witness who called the tweet “pouring gasoline on the fire.” Meanwhile, recordings of Secret Service radio transmissions revealed agents at the Capitol trying to whisk Pence to safety amid the mayhem and asking for messages to be relayed telling their own families goodbye. The panel showed previously unseen testimony from the president's son, Donald Trump, Jr., with a text message to his father's chief of staff Mark Meadows urging the president to call off the mob. Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner also testified in a recorded video of a “scared” GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy calling him for help. And in a gripping moment, the panel showed Trump refusing to deliver a speech the next day declaring the election was over, despite his daughter, Ivanka Trump, heard off camera, encouraging him to read the script. “The president's words matter,” said Luria, D-Va., a former Naval officer on the panel. “We know that many of the rioters were listening to President Trump.” Luria said the panel had received testimony confirming the powerful previous account of former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson of an altercation involving Trump as he insisted the Secret Service drive him to the Capitol. Among the witnesses testifying Thursday in a recorded video was retired District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department Sgt. Mark Robinson who told the committee that Trump was well aware of the number of weapons in the crowd of his supporters but wanted to go regardless. “The only description that I received was that the president was upset, and that he was adamant about going to the Capitol and that there was a heated discussion about that,” Robinson said. Chairman Bennie Thompson, appearing virtually as he self-isolates with COVID-19, opened Thursday's hearing saying Trump as president did “everything in his power to overturn the election” he lost to Joe Biden, including before and during the deadly Capitol attack. “He lied, he bullied, he betrayed his oath,” charged Thompson, D-Miss. “Our investigation goes forward,” said Thompson. “There needs to be accountability.” The hearing room was packed, including with several police officers who fought off the mob that day, and the family of one officer who died the day after the attack. While the committee cannot make criminal charges, the Justice Department is monitoring its work. So far, more than 840 people have been charged with federal crimes related to the Capitol riot. Over 330 of them have pleaded guilty, mostly to misdemeanors. Of the more than 200 defendants to be sentenced, approximately 100 received terms of imprisonment. No former president has ever been federally prosecuted by the Justice Department. THINK Business with Jon Dwoskin

Ryan Kugler was the President and Co-Owner of DVA, Inc, one of the nation's largest distributors of excess inventory. Ryan was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Los Angeles shortly thereafter. Right from the start, Ryan took a strong interest in film and everything surrounding the medium. At the age of 13, Ryan made his way onto several studio lots with the intent of soaking it all up. On one particular day, Ryan found himself at Paramount and stumbled onto the set of the hit TV show, Cheers. He soon met the entire cast. When asked by Ted Danson about his interest in TV and films, Ryan replied, “I want to be a Director.” It was then that Mr. Danson made him an offer too good to pass up. Ryan was to write and direct his own short-movie in which Mr. Danson and several other Cheers cast members would appear. Several months later, Ryan made good. He directed his first short film, “The Question,” right there on the Paramount Lot, starring none other than Ted Danson, Kirsty Alley, Woody Harrelson and George Wendt. Soon thereafter, Ryan began working for DVA, Inc. on his summer breaks, and when he completed his schooling, he relocated to Florida to work full-time in the sales division at DVA, Inc. After learning the ropes, he soon moved up to Buyer, and eventually followed that by getting promoted to VP of Purchasing. With his unique blend of creative intuition and operational strength, as well as his exceptional skills in sales, Ryan founded the Closeout Division of DVA, Inc., making DVA, Inc. the largest buyer of closeouts in the Entertainment industry — and selling to the largest retailers across the United States. In 1998, Ryan opened up offices in Los Angeles to specifically serve the Movie Studios, Music Labels, and Game Publishers. Since then, he has developed relationships with all of the major studios, labels and publishers, helping them with their inventory issues that arise as well as servicing over 350 retail accounts with 25,000 storefronts. With an account base of over 350 companies, including such retailers as Best Buy, Target, Sear/Kmart, Pep Boys, Staples and more, Ryan has built and grown the Division to 30+ employees, selling over 20 million units per year and generating $20+ million in annual sales. As a public face for the entertainment industry as well as the overstock world, Ryan routinely appears on both National TV and in print. He has appeared on the CBS Early Show, ABC7 News in Los Angeles, and on the KTLA Prime Time News. Ryan has also been featured in Entrepreneur Magazine, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Business Journal, Moviemaker Magazine and the New York Times. Ryan has continually lent his voice and vast knowledge of the entertainment industry to conferences and seminars as well as to students. Most recently, Ryan spoke to postgraduates at the Peter F. Drucker & Masotoshi Ito Graduate School of Management at Claremont Graduate University. He also spoke to current students at Art Center College of Design. In addition to speaking at seminars and conferences, Ryan also hosts film seminars which provide practical, real-world advice to filmmakers, actors, producers and anyone else who wants to succeed in the movie production and distribution industry. Ryan recently completed work co-authoring a book with best-selling author Eric Sherman, detailing the ins and outs of film distribution business. As ever, Ryan remains very busy with all of these endeavors, while also fulfilling his desire to help the community. He is the Executive Director of the Say No to Drugs Race for twelve years running, and serves on the Toluca Lake city council. When asked what he considers his greatest strength, Ryan responded with a few key principles, saying: “Be nice to everyone, always return phone calls, and stay in communication with everyone. Try your hardest to make anything happen.” In 2014, Ryan created three new companies: A5 Events, Ideal Content and Plan B Distribution. The audio you just heard was from Youtuber and political commentator John Doyle, as he confronted parents (child abusers), who were taking their children to an event called “Drag the kids to Pride.” Whenever I see a child who has clearly been corrupted by adults with LGBTQ agendas, I get angry at the kid’s father. Did he abandon his children to the full-time attentions of a deranged mother? Is he present but too whipped to be a strong father? What man would allow such a thing to be done to his son or daughter? Yes, the mother enrages me as well, but a society in which real men exist would never allow the over-the-top grooming and wholesale destruction of childhood innocence that goes on these days. A recent example of real men in action occurred at a disgusting grooming party in a gay bar called Mr. Misster (get it??) in Dallas, Texas. The bar held an event called “DRAG THE KIDS TO PRIDE – A Family Friendly Drag Show” on Saturday. While most of us understand that a drag show fundamentally cannot be a family-friendly event, Mr. Misster thinks it’s just fine: Mr. Misster’s Drag The Kids To Pride Drag Show provides the ultimate family friendly pride experience. Then the children were made part of the act. First, they were brought on stage to play a game of musical chairs while a dragged-out emcee called the shots and the audience whooped and cheered: Once the children were comfortable being the center of attention, it was time for the next step in the groomy progression. We had 490,000 structure fires in 2020 in the United States. We see a lot of fires every year.” Last month, rumors began to circulate on social media that a string of fires and other destructive incidents, including a plane crash, at food processing plants throughout the United States appeared suspicious—despite no law enforcement officials saying that was the case. Conspiracy theorists implied the blazes were connected in some way and even that the federal government could have something to do with them. The rumors came to a head on April 22, when Fox News host Tucker Carlson stoked the conspiracy theorists’ flames, asking his viewers, “What’s going on here?” https://twitter.com/i/status/1517341372851703808 -Play Video According to NFPA.org, The truth, however, is that nothing is unusual about any of the fires that have occurred in food processing plants over the first few months of the year. Although no data is kept on fires that occur strictly at food processing facilities, the National Fire Incident Reporting System tracks fires within broader categories like manufacturing, refrigerated storage, and agricultural facilities. In 2019, the number of fires at all manufacturing or processing plants in the country topped 5,300—nearly 15 a day. Additionally, more than 2,000 fires occurred in agricultural, grain and livestock, and refrigerated storage facilities, which could all include food processing operations. Okay so maybe it is a conspiracy theory, but I’m just saying, conspiracy theorists have been proved right a lot lately. Democratic congressman proposes 1,000% tax on certain firearms https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/democratic-congressman-proposes-tax-firearms A U.S. House Democrat is proposing a federal 1,000% excise tax on assault weapons, and wants to pass it through reconciliation. Rep. Donald Beyer, D-Va., is introducing the bill which would tax all AR-15-style weapons at 1,000%, according to Business Insider. Beyer, a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, told Business Insider that the measure is "sensible gun control." "What it's intended to do is provide another creative pathway to actually make some sensible gun control happen," Beyer said. "We think that a 1,000% fee on assault weapons is just the kind of restrictive measure that creates enough fiscal impact to qualify for reconciliation." A 1,000% tax on AR-15 style guns could add as much as $5,000 to $20,000 to the sale price, as the price for them is typically from $500 to over $2,000. The report states that several details of the bill aren't finalized yet, according to the report. Under the legislation which Beyer will propose, bullets would not be included in the 1,000% tax, but high-capacity magazines that have the ability to carry more than 10 rounds of ammunition would be included. He told Business Insider that he's open to discussing the high-percentage tax. "There's nothing magical about that thousand percent number. It's severe enough to actually inhibit and restrict sales. But also successful enough that it's not seen as an absolute ban." That bill just screams freedom doesn’t it? But hey, if you live in a state where your freedoms have been taken, it may be time for a change of scenery. What about the Palouse? Well I’d point you to Story Real Estate. Story Real Estate: Home. US gas averaged $2.39 per gallon the day of President Biden's inauguration. It's since risen dramatically to $4.82 per gallon. Amid rising prices, the White House's official position has been to blame Russian President Vladimir Putin. Following Russia's invasion in Ukraine, the global economy largely sanctioned Russian oil. Meanwhile, President Biden claims he is largely helpless to stem the skyrocketing gasoline prices, as well as those of food items. "There’s a lot going on right now, but the idea we’re gonna be able to, you know, click a switch, bring down the cost of gasoline is not likely in the near term, nor is it with regard to food," he said during a recent speech. Biden's critics say the president's policies are largely responsible for runaway national inflation. For example, Biden famously stopped construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, a project that could have solved America's energy crisis. Now it’s time for the topic I love… sports! Some good news out of Tampa Bay… Several Rays players break from organization's Pride Night logos, citing religious reasons https://www.foxnews.com/sports/rays-players-break-pride-night-logos-religious The Rays have been celebrating Pride Night 16 years, but that hasn’t stopped Some Tampa Bay Rays players from reportedly breaking from the organization’s support of the LGBTQ+ community Saturday during the team’s Pride Night against the Chicago White Sox. Most Rays players were wearing rainbow logos on their caps and sleeves. But the Tampa Bay Times noted that pitchers Jason Adam, Jalen Beeks, Brooks Raley, Jeffrey Springs and Ryan Thompson were among those who didn’t wear the logos of support. Adam made a statement on behalf of the players who opted out and cited religious beliefs. "A lot of it comes down to faith, to like a faith-based decision. So it’s a hard decision. Because, ultimately, we all said what we want is them to know that all are welcome and loved here," he said, via the Tampa Bay Times. "But when we put it on our bodies, I think a lot of guys decided that it’s just a lifestyle that maybe — not that they look down on anybody or think differently — it’s just that maybe we don’t want to encourage it if we believe in Jesus, who’s encouraged us to live a lifestyle that would abstain from that behavior. Just like (Jesus) encourages me as a heterosexual male to abstain from sex outside of the confines of marriage. It’s no different. "It’s not judgmental. It’s not looking down. It’s just what we believe the lifestyle he’s encouraged us to live, for our good, not to withhold. But, again, we love these men and women, we care about them and we want them to feel safe and welcome here." According to the newspaper, the Rays wanted full participation from all players but gave the option to "opt in." Wrapping up sports, last night, game 2 of the NBA Finals took place in San Francisco California… The Boston Celtics shocked many, myself included in game 1 of the finals, as they defeated the Warriors 120-108. The Celtics had a chance to do the unthinkable last night… going up 2-0 at Golden State… well, there’s a reason it’s unthinkable, because it didn’t happen. Golden State took game 2 by a score of 107-88. Throughout the first half it was close, with the Celtics’ defense really stifling the Warriors’ offense. However, in the third quarter, the Warriors blew the doors off of the C’s, winning the quarter 35-14. Steph Curry lead the way for the Warriors with 29 points, while Jordan Poole, the third splash brother added 17. On the Celtics’ side, Jayson Tatum showed up with 28 points, but had an ugly second half, while Jaylen Brown added 17 points. Game 3 takes place in Boston, at 9PM ET. Before we go, how about a little history… I noticed Google had a little gif in honor of Angelo Moriondo of Turin Italy. Apparently he’s the inventor of the Espresso Machine, and it’s his 171st birthday! Moriondo presented his invention at the General Expo of Turin in 1884, where it was awarded the bronze medal. The patent was awarded for a period of six years on 16 May 1884 under the title of "New steam machinery for the economic and instantaneous confection of coffee beverage, method ‘A. Moriondo’." The machine was built by a mechanic named Martina, working under the direct supervision of the inventor. It was successively updated with a patent on 20 November 1884, Vol 34, No, 381.The invention was then confirmed by international patent application after being registered in Paris on 23 October 1885. In the following years, Moriondo continued to improve his invention drastically, each improvement being patented Moriondo never took the invention to industrial-scale production. He limited himself to the construction of a few hand-built machines, which he jealously conserved in his establishments, convinced that this was a significant advertisement for them. Ian Bersten, a historian chronicling the history of coffee, describes the device as "the first Italian bar machine that controlled the supply of steam and water separately through the coffee" and Moriondo as "one of the earliest discoverers of the espresso machine".[8] Unlike true espresso machines, it was a bulk brewer, and did not brew coffee for the individual customer.
