I recently shared a concept with one of my coaching groups, and I knew I needed to bring it to you as well because I think it's pretty powerful! I want you to think about gravity, and how it's always around us, even when we don't notice it; it can't be taken away. The same thing is true for our personal power-it's a massive force and energy that lives within us. I want to dive deeper into this topic today, because it's so important for all of us to understand. In today's episode, I'm talking about: -Why your personal power is always within you, and you can't ever lose it -2 ways you can work through to figure out if you are living in your most powerful state -How to evaluate where you are currently, and then how you can begin to level up and start showing up as your most powerful self for your family, community, job, and more I really want you to remember the importance of your personal power, and to know that nobody can take it from you. Even if you feel like you aren't living in your highest and most powerful place, you have the potential to tap into more, and level up at ANY time. It's a beautiful and amazing thing once you realize this, and it's never too late to take action! I had a fascinating conversation with someone at an event recently (one of my favorite things is to strike up conversations with complete strangers), and we were discussing what we had witnessed over the last two and a half years with the pandemic. We talked about all of our favorite places initially shutting down, the stress we were under, and ultimately, how our healthy coping mechanisms have changed. Even though most of the lockdowns and restrictions are gone, you may not be getting out and utilizing services and activities like you used to. I'm excited to dive more into how you can get back to connecting (or reconnecting) with your community, and everything that is going on there. In today's episode, I'm talking about: -How you can start getting out of your house and begin learning about new businesses in your community (or those that have changed since the pandemic) -Why you need to get out and reconnect with your friends and your community now, more than ever -The importance of taking the time to learn about the people, businesses, and events going on in your community You're not meant to stay in the exact same place your whole life-things are going to look different now, compared to when you were 15 or 30 years old. You're meant to evolve, and grow, and contribute to society (this doesn't have to be scary either-it can actually be exciting). You really can find so much joy when you get out into your community, and try new things (or things you used to enjoy doing, but haven't in awhile). I hope you choose to get out of your comfort zone a bit, and get more connected with your community, the wonderful people there, and the fun things going on-I know you won't regret it! The theme of ‘connection' I've been doing is so important to me, and the topic I'm sharing about today is no different. Connecting with your partner is needed now, more than ever-especially with the huge disconnect we're experiencing from real people in our society. If you truly want to be with your partner and you're willing to put in the work, you have to understand the evolution of a relationship, and recognize where you are in your relationship. I'm excited to dive more into all of this, and what it looks like to connect with your partner on a deeper level. In today's episode, I'm talking about: -The different stages your relationship goes through over time -What it can look like for you to push your partner out and drift apart (especially with kids in the mix), even if you don't mean to -How you can reconnect with your partner if you're feeling totally disconnected -Getting really honest with yourself about how YOU'RE showing up in your relationship You can't be super tight and connected and have a great relationship with your partner if you're trying to do it all alone, and you refuse to be vulnerable. Your partner is the one person you need to allow that vulnerability, and that true ‘you', to come through. This is the person you love and cherish; they're here for a reason, and it's important for you to let them know that. I want to encourage you to work on rebuilding and maintaining that deep connection with your partner so you both feel fully supported and fulfilled in your relationship! When it comes to your kids, do you try to protect them by removing every discomfort they may experience? You want to keep them as safe as possible from the negativity and challenges that happen in life, but this actually ends up creating a disconnect (which is the opposite of what you're trying to do). I've learned that connecting with your kids can never be done as a one-size-fits-all approach (especially if you have multiple kids), so I want to share more about what that can look like, no matter how old your kids are. In today's episode, I'm talking about: -Getting really present (avoiding distractions as much as possible) and connecting in a way that is unique to each kid -Recognizing that the same things that worked for your kids when they were young won't necessarily work as they get older -Why you need to stop trying to be someone or something you're not (your kids WILL be able to tell), and instead, choose to be your authentic self -Learning to not always feel like we have to control our kids, and make them believe and see things the same way we do -Finding new ways and tools that will help you learn how to connect with your kids I want you to remember-you are raising your kids to fly and leave the nest, so they should become independent. Learning to trust your kids and supporting them in the best ways possible (through all of their seasons) will help so much when you're trying to build that connection. We all make mistakes when it comes to parenting our kids (don't beat yourself for doing your best-we've all been there). I truly believe that whatever your relationship is like with your kids, you can strengthen and improve it if you're willing to put in the work, so I hope you choose to! When you think about what your purpose is, do you think it's your profession, or what you're ‘good' at doing? During childhood, we're often asked what we want to be when we grow up, and it can feel like a lot of pressure (especially as we get older). Our self-worth gets tied up in trying to meet other people's (or even our own) expectations, but that's just not how it should be. I want to dive more into your purpose, and specifically, what it looks like when you're connecting with your purpose. In today's episode, I'm talking about: -How you can find your purpose, and the things that really light you up -3 important parts to consider when you're identifying your unique gifts and talents -Why you can live out your purpose, no matter what profession you're in When you've aligned with your purpose, it will completely change everything in your life-your decisions, your choices, and even your relationships. Once you choose to start connecting with your purpose, the sky really is the limit. I want you to dig deep and get those creative juices flowing when it comes to thinking about who you are, and what your purpose is. I know this will only strengthen your self-love, and positively impact how you show up and connect with others too! You probably know by now I love to really step back and observe every situation and everything going on in life, from a detached place. I actually teach this kind of practice in my mini-course, The Hot Mess Method, in order to create lasting change in your life, and I've been doing a lot more of it recently. I keep picking up the common theme of ‘disconnect' with humanity; there is a lot of fear and hate going on, and it all stems from us being disconnected. This is something I want to dive into more on this episode, and specifically, I want to focus on connecting with yourself. In today's episode, I'm talking about: -Why you have to be connected with and taking care of yourself in order to take care of those around you (hint-if you are, nothing in life can knock you down for long) -Taking some time to really think about (and write out) where you are connected with yourself, and where you are disconnected -How easily you can pick up and consume thoughts and values from other people if you aren't fully connected with yourself The best thing you can do is to get connected with who you are and what your values are-not what everyone else is telling you. When you take the time to really dig deep and become aware of where you're connected and disconnected with yourself, you have the knowledge you need, and you know what you need to do moving forward. I can't wait to hear how everything else begins to change in your life once you do this, because I promise you, it will! I recently heard the phrase “stop hoping for a better past”, and while that maybe isn't quite what you or I would expect to hear, it really hit home with me. We've all been through something in our past that really hurt our hearts, and we wish we could change. How much time, energy, and attention are you still giving to hoping for a better past though, and how is it affecting you now? In today's episode, I'm talking about: -All of your past experiences that have shaped you and taught you something, and also made you who you are today -Understanding that who you really are should matter more than what others think -Why worrying about your past will keep you from moving forward with your present, and your future If you continue being angry at the fact you didn't have a better past experience, then you're not living; life is meant to be lived! If you're really struggling with some of your past issues, therapy may be a great option for you (it's helped me tremendously). Once your ‘stuff' is out and you've worked through what you needed to, it's gone, and it doesn't have a permanent residency within you anymore. I want you to find what lights up your soul and focus on being more in the present; this is what's going to create a beautiful future for you! Do you remember when everything shut down two and a half years ago, and so many of us were in our homes with extra time to take care of the house, spend more time with our kids, etc.? Even though we were concerned about what was going on, it was pretty nice to just kick back and relax, and not have much of a set schedule. Unfortunately, this ended up leading to a major mental health crisis that has been tough for so many. With everything going on in our world, we also stopped caring about how we can improve ourselves and our lives, so it's time to talk about leveling up, and taking back our lives going forward. In today's episode, I'm talking about: -How we stopped striving for excellence and taking positive action in our lives -Recognizing if/where you are still living in that ‘shut down' phase -Understanding that you have a choice to decide what you're going to do with your life It's totally okay to take time to heal, but I don't want you to stay stuck there for years and years either. It's time to get out of your own way, and start taking control of your life again; find the excitement, make a decision to level up, and go full steam ahead after your dreams! I'm bringing back a listener-favorite episode today, and it's all about relationships! Sometimes, we bring in past beliefs, habits, and trauma we've experienced into new relationships-it can be easy to do so, because that's what we know, and are used to. I want to dive into how this affects us and our relationships though, because it's important work we need to do. In today's episode, I'm talking about: -Really digging into what you're bringing from past relationships into new ones, and how it's affecting the people in your life -How to discover what's upsetting you and/or hurting your feelings in relationships -Learning to see people as actual people, and not lumping them into a certain category -Why you need to take ownership of where you are and make positive changes moving forward Honestly, it all starts with you, and the work you have to do on yourself-no one is going to do that for you. Once you're aware of this, you're able to make different (and better) choices for your future. I want you to create more self-confidence and self-love, because this will lead to you having some truly awesome relationships in your life that you deserve! Whether you're looking to stay in your relationship or you know it's time to get out, there is no shortage of information, and it can be overwhelming to know what to do. Do you have big goals and dreams for your life, but you also allow excuses to get in the way? It's pretty easy to let the chaos and uncertainty keep us from pursuing what we really want and need to do (especially over the last couple of years). If you just keep waiting around for things to get better though, you'll be waiting forever! It's time to stop that, and take positive action to make great things happen in your life. In today's episode, I'm talking about 4 steps you can take to make great things happen in your life. I'm diving into how you can choose the right project for you (what feels right and makes sense for you), the importance of having focused and dialed-in time when working on your dream, and more. It's okay for you to take things at your own pace, but I don't want you to get upset or complain that things are taking too long, and nothing has changed for you either; this is up to YOU after all. It's time to get back on track, go all in, and focus one hundred percent on your goals. Do you get nervous when you think about change? Maybe you recognize that you need some change in your life, but you wonder if it's even possible, because you've already tried everything there is to try. Sound familiar? You probably feel pretty discouraged when you think about change, but I want you to understand that change is a choice, and it won't actually happen until you start taking action. In today's episode, I'm talking about: -Why certain choices will keep you exactly where you are, and others will advance you to something greater -Choosing to really believe that change is a choice, and it can be simple -Learning that it's just as easy for you to change as you think it is for others (your partner, family, friends, etc.) Start asking yourself “what is it that I need to see, or do differently”? Do you struggle to talk with your partner about finances? Do you feel like you are on opposite paths, and you're not sure you'll ever be able to see eye-to-eye on things? If you struggle in this area, you're definitely not alone, but it can create a pretty crappy dynamic. Money and finances can be one of the biggest conflicts in relationships, so I want to help you uncover what may be happening with you and your partner, so you can get on the same financial path. In today's episode, I'm talking about: -5 different types of financial control you and/or your partner may be exhibiting -Why you both need to take responsibility for your actions, no matter who did what to get there -How to actually talk with and have those difficult conversations with your partner about your finances This is not a surface level topic, so really digging deep, being vulnerable, and honestly sharing with your partner about what you're feeling is key. Remember-you can't change or control your partner, but you are responsible for YOU, and you have to own your crap-plain and simple. Don't be afraid to ask for help, whether it's a financial coach, advisor, etc., so you can get to a solid place with your finances, and show up fully in your relationship. I'm excited to bring you a special episode today from my Perfectly Imperfect Membership, and it's all about the “shoulds” we carry around. I want you to become more aware of what is going on in your life, from the outside influences, as well as the inner fears and beliefs you have. In today's episode, I'm talking about: -Why you need to stop “shoulding” all over the place -How to notice when you're placing “shoulds” and expectations on yourself, and on others -How to notice when others are putting their “shoulds” and expectations on you I'm now in a place where I'm completely at peace with how I'm living my life, and I no longer carry around others' burdens and expectations on my shoulders. Once you can get crystal clear and be really honest about what you want your life to look like, you have to take action to get there; it's ok to ask for help when doing so! Have you ever thought to yourself “why am I not good enough”, or “why doesn't he love me”? You've convinced yourself that something has to be wrong with you, and you don't deserve better. If any of this rings true with you, I want you to know there IS a better way. I used to struggle with this type of thinking, but the good news is, you absolutely can change your mindset, and your life, for the better! In today's episode, I'm talking about: -My own story of thinking something was “wrong” with me for most of my adult life (which stemmed from thoughts being planted in my head during childhood) -How to reframe your way of thinking and realize you may not be the “broken” one in your relationships -The importance of letting someone go if they're showing you ‘red flags', and making you feel unlovable, or like something is wrong with you I want you to realize that you are deserving of love and compassion, and no one should make you feel like you aren't. You don't have to be angry or place blame, because ultimately, it's about making a simple mindset shift. Once you understand it really isn't about you (feel free to repeat that mantra over and over), the true magic happens, and you'll be able to love yourself, and others, more fully. Do you tend to ignore that little voice that's speaking to you when you're going through hot mess moments? Whether you want to call it your intuition, your heart, your gut, your higher self, or something else, it's there for a reason. Unfortunately, we like to tune it out and don't think it matters (been there, done that), but over time, we can lose touch with it all together. I've learned how important it is to listen to my intuition, and I want you to get back to that place too! In today's episode, I'm talking about: -Why you need to start thinking of your intuition like your best friend -How you actually can get back in touch with your intuition if you feel like you've lost it, and aren't “hearing” it anymore -My own real-life stories of not listening to my intuition, and what happened when I didn't, as well as what happened when I did listen to my intuition Once we start listening to our intuition again and follow those little “nudges” we keep receiving, things will just naturally start to fall into place. Of course, this doesn't mean we won't ever face any obstacles, or everything will be easy from here on out (if only, right?!) However, I've noticed that the more I tune into my intuition, the more ‘flow' I have, and I'm not experiencing as much inner chaos. I know this can happen for you as you continue to build the relationship with your intuition, and I'm excited to see where it takes you! Have you ever felt so passionate about something, and started visualizing it becoming a reality? My guest on today's episode, Vivianna Thomas, shares her story about going against the grain and pursuing her dream of starting her own beauty company in 2021. Vivianna is a mother to 2 beautiful children and a wife to a federal police officer. She is the owner and founder of American Woman Beauty, and it is unlike any other beauty company out there. Vivianna wanted to create a unique brand that supports other women who love America, love God, and aren't afraid to exercise their right to practice the First Amendment. One of the main goals for American Woman Beauty is to create a positive community for women to come together, and celebrate all that they are with American-made makeup and beauty products. In today's episode, we're talking about: -Vivianna's story of growing up in a military family and eventually, dealing with unsupportive people when it came to her husband's line of work -Realizing her deep love for her country, and her inspiration to start her own beauty brand -Her desire to help women break out of their shells and come together, so no one is left feeling like an outcast -The steps she took to actually start her business, and everything she's learned since doing so -Not being afraid to pursue something new and ask for help along the way, no matter your experience or background -Her own work-life balance, and why she loves building her business with her kids by her side I loved getting to chat with Vivianna, and everything she has been able to do with American Woman Beauty in such a short time is truly incredible! Something I see fairly often when talking with people is a transfer of the parental role to their partner. While this is most common in romantic relationships, it can also occur in friendships and boss-employee relationships as well. No matter where this is happening, it tends to be somewhat hidden, and it can negatively impact the entire dynamic of your relationship. In today's episode, I'm covering: -My own story of getting married young, and how I transferred the parental role to my then partner -How to recognize when this is happening in your relationship, and how to go about making a positive change -Learning the importance of having difficult (but very necessary) conversations with your partner, so you can build a stronger and united relationship Changing your behavior and taking certain actions will take time-this won't all happen overnight. I don't want you to blame your partner, friend, boss, etc., or feel like you need to tear them down, because this is not a hierarchy. When you're tapping into your higher power and empowering yourself, you'll be able to show up with more compassion, power, and love for your partner, and your relationship. I don't know about you, but I absolutely love this time of year. The weather is warming up, so you'll probably find me camping, riding my motorcycle, or even hanging out with friends. Honestly, I just feel like my spirits are lifted because I love being outside. I think spending more time outdoors is beneficial for all of us, and we need to make it a priority, now more than ever! In today's episode, I'm talking about: -The importance of planning and making time in our schedule to get outside with family, friends, or even by yourself -How spending more time in nature can actually improve our overall health and well-being -Why the scenery and environment where we live doesn't really matter as long as we're getting outside more While there is no such thing as a “magic pill”, spending time outside is actually a form of preventative medicine in some countries, and it really can bring us the peace and calm we truly need (and crave). I want to encourage you to focus on being present, and take in all of the beauty around you. Something I hear often from my coaching clients is the lack of fun they're having in their lives. It's pretty easy to get caught up in the busyness and day-to-day duties of having jobs, families, and all of the adult responsibilities. We don't remember how to have fun, and we don't even know what we enjoy anymore-sound familiar? You're not alone if you feel this way, but I want to show you how bringing more fun into your life is totally doable! In today's episode, I'm talking about 4 steps to take so you can bring more fun into your life; we can do this by creating a 'fun' menu. I'll dive into the importance of choosing things YOU want to do by yourself (and why you shouldn't feel guilty about it), how to have fun with your partner and friends, simple ways to go about making your list, and more. Whether you decide to try something you loved doing in your childhood, or you want to try something brand new you've always dreamt about doing, I want you to be open to new things, and get out of your comfort zone a bit. Life is too short to not have fun; it's time to find our joy again, and I can't wait to see what you come up with! Do you get caught up in the comparison trap? You may look at someone you see often on social media, and you envy what she has-her house, her car, her relationship, her body, etc. Without even realizing it, you've put her up on a pedestal, and you beat yourself up for not being like her, or having everything she has. If this sounds familiar, you're not alone-I've definitely been guilty of this too! In today's episode, I'm talking about: -Why comparing ourselves to others takes away from our own self-love, and all that we've done -My own story of only wanting to share the ‘good' parts of a previous relationship -How we can learn to stop comparing and instead, be inspired to create better habits for our own lives It's so easy to fall into the comparison trap when we're constantly seeing what others are doing around us-especially in the online world. Remember though-you're more than likely only seeing the ‘highlight reel', aka the best parts of other people's lives. Let those people give you hope, and start thinking about a shift you can make to better your life for today, and for the future. Have you ever dealt with a friendship where it was all one-sided, and no matter how much you did for the other person, they never seemed to care? Trust me when I say, I've experienced this first hand, and it can be super frustrating when you feel like you're the only one contributing to the relationship. In today's episode, I'm sharing: -My personal experience with a one way friendship, and what I learned during the process -Three things you can do to handle your friendship in a healthy way, or at least prevent it from fading away all together -How to recognize if you're the friend who is doing all of the taking and no giving I've learned that some friendships aren't meant to last forever; sometimes we outgrow people, and that's okay! Maybe you do recognize that your relationship is in a bad place, but you're not sure how to improve it for the better, or if that's even possible. In today's episode, I'm sharing 9 signs that you may be in a toxic relationship. Embarrassment, poor communication, dishonesty, and lack of self care are just a few of the topics I'll be covering. I also want you to consider how these things may be affecting the relationship you have with yourself. Nope-it's not just about negative relationships with your significant other, parent, boss, coworker, etc. While it can be pretty difficult to change someone else's toxic traits, we do have the power to change ourselves, which is amazing! The words we say carry a lot of power and strength, don't you think? We use words for good and to benefit others, and we use them to be destructive and tear others (or ourselves) down. With just a simple shift in our language, the words we're saying can have an entirely different meaning. In today's episode, I'm talking about: -Keeping track of the words we're saying out loud, and really digging into why we're saying the things we are -How we can change our negative words and complaints to more positive and compassionate phrases, no matter what we're doing -The importance of having accountability and support from a friend, significant other, child, or colleague when we're in a negative space I want to encourage you to start using more words and phrases that are empowering, uplifting, optimistic, and supportive of you and those around you. Your energy levels will rise, and you'll be more open to your dreams and creativity, and all the goodness around you. Spring is in the air, and I'm so excited-can you feel it too?! I recently received a plant as a gift, and it says “bloom where you're planted”. I definitely don't have a green thumb, but I thought this was the perfect reminder that no matter what is happening in our lives, WE are the constant, and need to look within if we want to change our circumstances. In today's episode, I'm talking about why we shouldn't always be looking for the “next best thing”, to make us happy. I'm also sharing 6 important steps to growing a successful “garden”, which in this case, is actually you. Remember, having both time and patience is key to becoming the best and highest version of yourself. Even if nothing in your external environment changes right away, you can still be proud of the knowledge and clarity you've gained from doing the inner work, and you'll be ready to rock!
