Today is all about girl talk! The topic, "Do I have a heart of gratitude that is thankful for the life God allows me to live?" The podcast opens with Andrea sharing a behind the scenes story of speaking at a national event. At the event, God taught Andrea the valuable lesson that our struggles are worth the tears because they provide an opportunity to trust God, be vulnerable with others, and encourage others with the comfort we have received from God. In the final portion of the conversation, Andrea and Bethany talk about Genesis 47 and the story of Jacob, Joseph, and the brothers as they settle in Goshen. The story makes a valid point for our daily walks with Jesus. Our life is a pilgrimage or a journey to a final destination in heaven. We will experience hardships along the way. These challenges provide an opportunity for us to look to Jesus and embrace the call to be like Jesus during the good, the bad, and the ugly moments of life. The final take away from today's conversation is that we all have a chance to thank God for the journey as we recognize that He is always with us... every step of the way!

Andrea continues to shares her story and gets very personal about lies that plagued her during the early days of her life and ministry. The lies of the enemy were debilitating and she often normalized them and accepted the lies as truth. God never leaves us in our lies! He is faithful to show us the truth. Thankfully Andrea engaged in spiritual battle and replaced the the lies with truth! Three Lies Andrea Believed in the Past 1. "I was a burden to the people around me." 2. "I have to pay a kindness back by doing something nice or equally nicer for the people around me." 3. "I am always living on the outside." God intersected Andrea's life with truth. Instead of the lies, she began to believe: 1. "God created me for a purpose! My life is not an accident." 2. "I can accept the kindness of God and the kindness of others as I enjoy the spacious place of grace. I can be real with God and others as I embrace and celebrate community in authentic ways." 3. "I am a member of the family of God. Jesus bought my life with His blood and I am connected to others based on the blood of Jesus Christ!" How about you? What lies do you believe? How can you replace the lies with truth? This sanctifying exercise will change the way you think and the way you live! Bethany failed to read the instructions and the outcome was a mess. Andrea reminds everyone that failing to read the instructions in the Bible always leads to a mess! Often disobedience leads to issues of fear in our lives. Discussing the Old Testament story found in 1 Chronicles 13, Andrea and Bethany talk about specific things David and the Children of Israel did while moving the Ark of God and the terrible outcome that resulted from doing it the wrong way. In 1 Chronicles 13, David put human standards, emotions, and desires to please people above the clear instructions found in God's Word. Here is a quick recap of what NOT to do in our walk's with God. (Listen to the show to hear all the details!) 1. Consult others before consulting God. 2. Look to the actions of others to determine our actions. 3. Think like "worldly" people. 4. Experience sensational worship instead of genuine worship. 5. Run from God instead of running to God. Are you in a place where you are doing the wrong thing and as a result you are experiencing fear in your walk with God? If so, take heart! God is willing and able to forgive and redirect you. 1. Let us never forget that we can enjoy the life God calls us to live. We can embrace God, His plan, and trust His power over the circumstances of life. Andrea and Shelly share about the power of faith and how faith is real always comes from God . In the first half of the conversation, Andrea and Shelly talk about the different types of faith discussed in the Bible and how our faith journey is a process. Saving Faith: Placing our faith or belief in Jesus. Sanctifying Faith: Believing God for more and more as we grow from little faith to great faith. Glorified Faith: The moment when we are finally home and free from all the sin and struggle of this world. Our faith will finally be sight. We can have an active faith that is growing as we embrace the transformation process. Andrea shares about a helpful journaling activity that is helping her grow in her faith. Step 1: Identify the fear. Step 2: Trace the roots of the fear back to their origin. Step 3: Find a scripture or two that speaks to the fear. Step 4: Ask God to show you the truth of His Word during your day as you ask him to rewrite how you think about the fear. Step 5: Journal God's activity at the end of your day. Step 6: Do this over and over and over again. The conversation ends with this powerful truth, "The faith you cultivate is the faith you communicate." A strong faith is a real faith that communicates everything about God. Today you can be encouraged. Your faith can and should grow!

Shelly Chandler from Go3Ministries joins Andrea to continue the discussion of faith over fear. The conversation begins with an all important question. "Why do we have fear in our lives?" Shelly shares that unknown circumstances often lead to a life of fear. In the midst of the unknown, we have the chance to recognize that we serve the God who sees and knows everything. In the second half of the conversation, Shelly and Andrea talk about two important instructions found in the Bible. We are called to "Fear Not" as we make the choice to "Fear God." The heart of God is always for our good. He is redeeming our lives every way. Shelly and Andrea talk about the beauty of Romans 8:15. "The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” Think about when you were a child and your daddy told you to jump. For most of us we had the trust that our daddy would catch us. The same is true in our relationship with God. God says, "I see you. I know you, I am redeeming your life in every way. I will catch you" Often the problem is that we have lost faith and belief that God is going to catch us! Thankfully, we do not have to stay in this place. We can be honest about our feelings and our fears. God already knows what is going on inside of us. He is willing and able to heal us and to give faith to us in the middle of our fear. The conversation concludes with three steps to move from Fear to Faith: 1. Fear must be recognized. Name it! 2. Fear must be surrendered. Give it over! 3. Faith must be applied. Claim it! "Now the Lord is Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." 2 Corinthians 3:17

Honest question! Have you ever found yourself in a situation and you have no idea how you got there and you certainly do not know how to get out? (I like to call this a spiritual ditch, and I have had my fair share of them!) In this podcast, Andrea and Bethany talk about the reality of a spiritual ditch and the action steps we can take to get out of the ditch and back on the path God has for us! Proverbs 2:1-5 provides five steps to get out of the spiritual ditch! 1. Accept God's Wisdom- Find out what God says about the situation by going to the Bible and seeking out every verse that speaks to your situation. Then cling to God's truth and begin to live it out! 2. Turn Your Ear to Wisdom- This step is all about valuing God's will and ways over the temporary desires of the flesh. If you do not want wisdom more than the current sin or situation going in your life, pray, "Lord, help me to want You more than I want ___." This cry of faith is a powerful commodity and provides the path out of the ditch! (Also, don't beat yourself up if this is where you are at in the process. God's mercy and grace are more than enough to cover you! At the same time, don't minimize the fact that sin has become a stronghold. Be honest with God and yourself!) 3. Apply God's Wisdom to your heart- Sometimes a spiritual ditch can cause us to be afraid to go back to a former way of life, afraid to stay in the present situation, and afraid to move forward to a new reality. The outcome is that we are paralyzed by sin. As a result, we sight tight in the situation and the sin becomes more and more embedded in our lives. We can admit our fear and stop normalizing our sin. This step helps us to get real and to begin to fight for freedom. 4. Call out for Insight and Cry Aloud for Understanding- This step is all about surrender! We can say, "I don't want this place." "Help me to see the truth in the midst of this situation." God in His grace shows us our motives as well as the reality of our situation. The Spirit draws us to the Lord and helps us break the chains that currently bind our hearts and mind. This leads to freedom! 5. Look for Wisdom like you Look for Silver- When we are in a spiritual ditch, we have to be committed to God and His ways no matter what. We have to recognize that God's way of life is like a treasure and it requires intensity and focus in order for us to find and accept it. When we take these five steps, we have peace because God holds victory for us. He offers His protection! He gives us His perspective! He provides the path to victory as we put on a God-Size filter for the situation we currently face which helps us to understand what is right, just, and fair! The outcome of the spiritual ditch can be: Discretion that protects us! Knowledge that is pleasant to our souls! Wisdom that enters our hearts! If you are in a spiritual ditch... Cry out and call aloud for understanding. Seek God and His way like a hidden treasure. You will find the hidden treasure because you will find HIM! Don't give up sweet friend. Don't. Give. Up.

Andrea and Bethany kick-off a five-part series on wisdom from the book of Proverbs. You will be challenged and encouraged as you think about the role wisdom plays in your life. The conversation opens by asking, "What advice did your parents give to you when you were a child?" Solomon says, be sure and remember the advice of your parents. It should shape you and help you! Wisdom reveals the direction of our lives and the condition of our hearts. Proverbs provides practical wisdom for our daily lives. The purpose of the book of Proverbs is to attain wisdom, discipline, understanding insight, and how to live a prudent life. This book is for everyone and there is something in it just for you! Proverbs 1:7 says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline." A proper fear of the Lord sets us up for success because it reminds us that God is God and we are not! In the second half of the program, Andrea and Bethany answer the question, "What is Wisdom?" (Think about it... how would you define wisdom) The word wisdom in the book of Proverbs means to be skillful, knowledgeable, have experiences, have insight, have judgment, and the word is always used in a positive sense that provides discernment and a reverent attitude towards the Lord. This means that wisdom is crucial if we want our lives to honor God! Wisdom reminds us to be careful about sin! There are two paths in life: the broad path that leads to destruction and the narrow path that leads to Godliness. Wisdom is not hidden from us! Wisdom makes herself known. When we seek the Lord and His wisdom, He will reveal sin in our lives. This leads us to answer the question, "How do we respond to the correction of the Lord in light of wisdom?" Wisdom will show us what is right and wrong. Proverbs 1:23 says, "If you had responded to my rebuke, I would have poured out my heart to you and made my thoughts known to you." When we respond to the rebuke of God, we experience His heart, path, and plan. Wisdom always positions us to experience a safe life that is at ease without fear of harm. How are you doing on the wisdom scale? Are you seeking God's wisdom or do you need to make focus on seeking and attaining God's insights for life? Tune in to this five-part series and learn practical ways to seek and apply wisdom to your life!

The conversation begins with a recap of the individual pieces of God's armor: Belt of Truth, Breastplate of Righteousness, Sandals of Peace, Shield of Faith, and Helmet of Salvation. The final two pieces of the armor are discussed: Sword of the Spirit and Prayer. The Sword of the Spirit is God's Holy Word. This is the only piece of the armor that is offensive in nature. We use the Bible to go after the enemy and to slay his lies. The benefit of the Bible is described in Psalm 119. God's Word produces: 1. A blessed life (1-2) 2. A blameless life (9-11) 3. A free life (vs. 45) 4. A peaceful life (vs. 165) The Bible allows us to defensively stand against the lies of the enemy as we offensively move forward by faith! We area called to pray in the Spirit on all occasions! (Eph 6:18) Prayer activates our faith and moves the heart of God in the midst of our circumstances. A balanced prayer life honors God and protects us from living according to a temporary mindset. ACTS Prayer Model Adoration- Praise for Who God is Confession- Confess sin of sin in our life Thanksgiving- Heart of gratitude for all that God has done Supplication- Requests for deliverance and help At the end of the program, Andrea shares about taking her kids to a haunted house and how it ultimately taught her about spiritual warfare. Here is the bottom life: our enemy is real, but he can't touch you. You are protected by the power of God and the Word of God. It is our right as believers in Jesus Christ to walk through life and know, live, and share truth. We are protected by the word of God and armor of God. Thankfully we have the armor of God to protect us from the top of our head to the bottom of our feet. In this conversation, Andrea and Bethany talk about several pieces of the Armor. Listen and enjoy! Belt of Truth: The soldier put on the belt first, and it was the only piece worn at all times. The calling card of Satan is deceit. Therefore, we must know the truth, live the truth, and share the truth! God's truth must be at the center of our lives. It is through the Word of God that we are set free from the lies of the enemy. Truth is the path to freedom. Daily we can say, "God, I am going to choose your way. Today, it is all about Your will and Your way for my life. Breastplate of Righteousness: The breastplate guarded the vital organs. The heart is the well spring of life. Thankfully we are protected by the righteousness of Jesus and His finished work on the cross. We will never be righteous apart from Jesus because He gave us His righteousness in exchange for our sinfulness. Through Jesus, we are chosen, forgiven, loved, seen, known, valued, and empowered. Sandals of Peace The sandals were made for fighting and marching. The best part... they became more comfortable as the soldier wore them. We must put on gospel shoes which is a gospel mindset. The outcome is we will take Jesus into every conversation and situation we face. The outcome will be peace. This peace protects us from the traps of the enemy. Shield of Faith The shield was used to defend the entire body, including the back. (Hello! God's got our back!) Daily we need to walk by faith. Of course, this requires us to step out in faith. Faith only grows as we use it. Satan attacks with doubt, but God's Word shields us from the blow. When temptation comes, faith keeps us steadfast in Jesus. Faith is a gift from God. Faith is the realization that God is able! In response, we know that we can't, but God can! Helmet of Salvation The helmet protects the head or brain which represents our thinking. What do you know to be true? How does this knowledge direct our lives? How does your position in Christ impact the way you battle? Do you battle from a place of victory or defeat? We can know God. We know that we are saved. And, we can know the truth! Daily we can have an active faith knowing that our God is able!
