Chaplin Gordon James Klingenschmidt is a former elected Colorado State Representative and also a TV show host. He served honorably as a 20-year veteran who graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Political Science and made national headlines as the former Navy Chaplain who dared to pray "in Jesus' name." He is an ordained minister with an earned PhD in Theology, and founded the Pray in Jesus' Name Project. It was 20 years ago on Crosstalk when we first introduced you to Chaplain Klingenschmidt, who came under attack by a commander who punished him in writing on three occasions because he dared to quote Bible verses in church that claim Jesus is the way to heaven. He was downgraded in his evaluations for praying "in Jesus' name" on the ship's microphone, for obtaining Kosher meals for a Jewish sailor, and for refusing to support mandatory attendance quotas for a homosexual church. He was told repeatedly to stop praying in Jesus' name. This left him with a choice; to deny Jesus Christ or to take a stand. He chose to take a stand which cost him his career and related pension. He is now reaching out to President Trump seeking a presidential pardon that could reinstate him to the military for one day so that he can retire and have his pension and back pay restored. Don't miss this opportunity to hear his testimony and learn how these 20 years later, you can push this effort, as Chaplain Klingenschmidt put it, "across the finish line." We are called to be houses of prayer—temples of the Holy Spirit where selfish desires are exchanged for God's. Pastor Jordan Deal unpacks Jesus' High Priestly Prayer in John 17, the true meaning of prayer as an exchange of wishes, and the call to repent of self-focused praying so we can pray His will in Jesus' name. A powerful invitation to deeper surrender and intercession.

Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. 2 And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to [a]ask alms from those who entered the temple; 3 who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms. 4 And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, "Look at us." 5 So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. 6 Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk." 7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. 8 So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God. 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God. 10 Then they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

In this episode of We Should Know Better, the guys dive headfirst into a hilariously chaotic mix of viral street culture, heavy theological head-scratchers, and unsolicited physical observations. Zack and Andy break down a bizarre viral video of a street preacher casting quite the extreme "biblical" curse on a dancing Jesus impersonator. They then pivot into a raw, honest conversation about their own insecurities—from Zack's legendary "missing link" brow ridge to Andy's sudden realization that his bladder is working overtime. Later, they tackle the mental shift of unexpected inheritance money, debate the controversial new Texas law mandating Bible reading in public schools, and pull up the receipts on Genesis 9 to figure out exactly what happened when Noah got a little too drunk in his tent. Finally, they question whether a lack of modern creativity means the global simulation is simply running out of memory. Pull up a chair, crack a cold IPA, and remember: we should probably know better. 00:00 – Warm Beers & Setting the Curls Free 02:30 – Zack's "Missing Link" Sun Visor Ridge 05:00 – Testing the South Pacific IPA 08:45 – Reacting to the Street Preacher vs. Dancing Jesus Video 11:45 – Cursing People with Cancer in Jesus' Name? 13:15 – Our General Disposition on Street Preachers 19:30 – Pouring One Out for LeBron's Lakers Era (and Melting Hair) 23:00 – Jordan Peterson as Kermit and Miss Piggy 25:40 – The Smell of Sound Dampening Material 27:00 – What Would You Do With a Surprise $50,000? 34:30 – Non-Profits, Free Trips to Hawaii, and Financial Awkwardness 46:30 – Texas Mandates Bible Reading in Public Schools 53:00 – Balancing Faith Integration vs. State Coercion 59:00 – Fact-Checking Genesis: When Noah Got Drunk & Naked 01:05:00 – Did the Flood Actually Fail to Stop Violence? 01:21:00 – Knowing the Heart of God Through Jesus 01:24:00 – Simulation Theory: Did the World Run Out of Memory in the 90s? 01:27:00 – Giving Power to the State Always Bites Back SUBSCRIBE & SHARE us this week!Contact Us: brosbiblesbeer@gmail.com Leave Us A VoicemailYouTubeSimpleCastSpotifyApple PodcastsXInstaWe Should Know Better is: Zack Krater & Andy McCraw Find us wherever fine podcasts are distributed.
