We'll break down a specific topic into weekly challenges to help you grow towards your goals and improve your walk with God. We hope you'll join us on this challenge and share your suggestions and experiences with everyone!
Each episode comes about by God's leading and connecting us to certain people in just the perfect time. We are thrilled that we are able to share with you one such connection, Family Dr. Melanie Orange. We truly believe her personal story and experiences will have an impact in other's lives and literally save lives! This is real stuff in practice here, not theories or speculation. Please SHARE THIS WITH ANYONE YOU KNOW WITH DIABETES this could be a catalyst for major lifestyle change! Dr. Melanie Orange shares with us about how roughly a year ago she was blown away when she stumbled upon classes and research of how WFPBD (Whole Food Plant Based Diet) and lifestyle changes is impacting health. She had never heard of these studies previously but as a Type 1 Diabetic she felt she had to immediately start applying these changes into her personal life. These changes can be a shock to many who have heard the traditional recommended diet of a diabetic should be low carbs.... but she explains why that's not actually the best diet direction and the Whole Food Plant Based Diet when low fat and removing the animal protein is beneficial. She tells of her own personal journey into the lifestyle changes and some tools and resources she found to help her make the transition. BUT HERE"S the amazing part.... She found not only in her personal life but her patient's as well, that these changes can be HEALING - medicines reduced, improved health and energy. She was so moved by these results she started presenting lectures at her local church and is putting together programs to help others get access to these resources and studies AND help provide them with practical tools to implement in their own lives. We pray this blesses you and your loved ones! PLEASE SHARE! We want to hear from you. Are you concerned about a watered down message of Jesus entering your church? Have you heard of the Emerging Church, have you wondered what it is and means? Have you known of a church that split due to differences in worship styles? You have to listen to Stephanie's personal story and research. Stephanie Griffin joins us this week to give us some insight into her book "Silence No More" and where the journey has taken her into researching what the movement is really about. She was recruited under seemingly innocent and genuine help with her prayer life by someone she trusted in a Godly position. It wasn't until after God revealed to her that these theologies were in direct contradiction to His Word and lies about His Character that she began to uncover the system that she was unknowingly involved with for nine years. This movement is sneaking into the back door of our own churches, courting our youth with an allurement of feel good experience, cutting pieces of Jesus and His Word from the message as not important. To be on guard of the wolf in sheep's clothing we need to be armed with awareness so we aren't easily deceived. To Find out more about Stephanie and her book - Go to her website: Silence No More
We love hearing people's stories, what's on their hearts and what they are passionate about. We also love to hear how amazing young people are on fire for doing God's work. Today we sat down with an amazing young lady, who is very involved in missions aboard and at home. Macaela Strothers is everywhere it seems! She has a beautiful light that shines from within and it's impossible not to get caught up in her joy and energy whether she's playing music or telling a story about cleaning up storm damage while witnessing. We happen to know Macaela from our church and even though we know how active she is with missions, we were shocked when she said she was just back from a trip to Bolivia with Maranatha - The Ultimate Workout mission trip! We shouldn't be surprised though, you'll understand when you hear her story. This is her Living Remnant Story.
Today's dating scene is more a horror movie to many parents instead of a romance one. When we heard that friends of ours were using the principle of courting with their teenage daughter we had to hear more! John and Candy Howells were so wonderful to open up about their own experience of courting for each their own second marriage and then how they are using it with their daughter Madison. It sounds something way too old to be even possible for today's world... but we had to admit by the end of this discussion we were intrigued and can see some benefits to creating this safe space for young adults to focus on a future marriage bond than letting hormones lead them to "practicing" for someday. A set of boundaries can give pause to really seek God's approval in the union instead of getting so caught up in emotions. We hope you will find this helpful as we did, that you find something in their stories that can benefit your families lives. Thank you Howells' we really enjoyed this chat!
This week Brad has the opportunity to sit down with Peter Cousins and Don Williams for a Bible study on God's Core 4 Promises. Peter Cousins is the principal at Tri-City Christian Academy and today he takes us through a deeply profound study that peels back another layer of the beauty found in scripture. We begin at Hebrews 8:6 and introduce the difference between old covenant and new covenant promises, and more importantly the new covenant, the new promises are ultimately so much better. Then Peter takes us through the CORE FOUR. Throughout the Bible there are promises, and these core four promises can be found in them from Genesis 3:15 all the way through the Bible to Revelation 14:7. Join us for this amazing study. This week Nicki sits down with Sarah Carter of Natural Baby Doulas https://www.naturalbabydoulas.com. Sarah was our Doula and taught our childbirth class. She has been a tremendous blessing to us. The fact of the matter is childbirth in America is risky, at least when compared with the rest of the developed world. The statistics are scary, but why is the US ranked so low. Why is the mortality rate so high? And are there safer options? Is there a choice to be made about how a pregnancy and childbirth can go? As Bible believers we believe that God created us. He designed everything about us and we know that pregnancy and childbirth are a part of that very design. This belief always leads us to seek decisions that uplift that design and have the least amount of intervention possible. We want to hear from you. Welcome back to the Living Remnant podcast. This week we sit down and talk about our recent trip to SC to hear Prof Walter Veith speak in person. It was a great experience, but a rare opportunity in this part of the world. We discuss why, and how his lectures played a role in my testimony and my friend Justin Sheffield's testimony who is joining me in the studio this evening for this talk. This episode is very informal, but it's a topic that has been so influential in our journey. Hope you enjoy. Please get connected with us. www.livingremnant.com and www.facebook.com/livingremnant
Living Remnant Podcast Episode 09 - The Soy Debate: Is it healthy or not? The question, is soy healthy or not? Some say yes, some say not. But what does the science tell us. After having a heated run in with a friend over soy, Nicki and I were concerned. We consumed a moderate amount, a lot more after pulling most of the meat out of our diet. We had both felt like it was a good food, but some of the accusations lobbed by our friend got us to thinking. Have we ever really done any actual reading or research on the topic? I know from my background everyone in bodybuilding trashes soy, but it is a staple protein source of a vegetarian diet and the diet's of some 2 billion people in Asia. Join us as we discuss this topic and find out is soy good or bad after all? Join the Movement - www.livingremnant.com www.fb.com/livingremnant
The Case for Transparency This week we sit down with Karie Sheffield and talk about Transparency and more importantly, how being transparent can make a huge impact in your life. It's a challenge, but if we're talking topics that can enrich your life on a deep and spiritual level, this is some powerful stuff. In today's culture showing your weaknesses doesn't seem advisable however we discuss how it can actually make you stronger. We also discuss passages in the Bible that actually show us how to keep it real and how it can strengthen our fellow church members. I'd like to take this to the next level and start discussing how we can empower our churches to help encourage this. Ideas and discussion are welcome! Ep 07 - Why Adventist Education Matters - Interview with Principal Peter Cousins Education for our children is very important. We often as parents feel the weight of how certain decisions will affect our children's future.... education is usually one of those decisions. As a society we are taught that our performance in school will make or break us in the "real world". However, as we discuss with Peter, the Adventist Education system puts a different priority over test scores. We are grateful for the chance to sit down with the Principal of Tri-City Christian Academy to talk over the importance of Adventist Education. The historic mission really brings to the forefront a reminder that we are to be preparing for the Lord's Return. That especially makes the decision of where your children spend about 8 hours, 5 days a week and with what influences. Peter has such a rare perspective as he not only attended both public and Adventist schools but he also was an educator in both settings. That perspective enriches his passion to develop the spirit, mind and body for Christ of each of his students. We were blessed by this episode and we hope you will be as too!
