“We can't concern ourselves with what was. We must act on what is.” Back by popular demand, our REACTION & REVIEW segment a.k.a R²! We tested this out a few months ago with Drag Race Thailand and since everyone loved them so much, we decided to make it permanent and feature a new Netflix show. In episode three, Aang is eager to take Sokka and Katara to the Air Temple where he was raised, but it seems that the temple is not at all how Aang remembers it. Meanwhile, Zuko stops to make repairs to his ship and is greeted by Zhao, a commander in the Fire Nation navy. Things pop off and Zuko challenges General Zhao to a firebending duel (known as an Agni Kai). This season we are covering all of Book One of AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER! This will not be like regular "moment" episodes. We just do a quick check-in and then jump straight into A:TLA. We will be posting new R² episodes EVERY FRIDAY until we finish the whole series. We are so happy to be doing these episodes again. Make sure you email us or DM us to let us know you're loving our new segment, R²! Vedic Sanskrit word Aatmana or Atman is often translated as Spirit by a great many people. And hence the science, or knowledge, of Atman – Adhyatma - is translated as Spirituality. But is that an accurate translation?

There's just too much to say about the finale of Avatar: The Last Airbender to not have its own episode. So let's get into it. We talk about the final battle between Aang and Ozai, the Agni Kai between Zuko and Azula, Sokka's space sword, and Aang's unwillingness to kill. This is probably one of the greatest finales written for a series. There is a lot to talk about and Lily and Sabrina get into it. The themes in Avatar reflect our real world in ways we didn't even expect - like the death penalty! Buckle in because this is a finale for the ages. This episode we talk about the very fun new anime called 7 Seeds! And our lovely guest this time was Aarushi Agni (like Agni-Kai!! Her last name means fire!) Anywayyyy... we discuss everything from cultural appropriation, to our very own survival skills (we don't have any), and what it would take to live in this world. Aarushi is fairly new to the anime game, but it was so much fun talking to her about 7 Seeds! Let us know how you like the show! You can connect with Aarushi on Instagram @aarushifire, And as always you can connect with me your host @wizardofaubs & @animtrashpod! In (probably) the last edition of the rarepairs series, join me for, among other things, the hidden pleasures of bloodbending, Iroh's tragic backstory becoming even more tragic, the hunt for some blue fabric on the Fire Nation black market, women who will kill you without even thinking about it, The First Annual Republic City Surprise Blowjob Week, and the sex version of Agni Kai with Mai's ass as the battleground (while Ursa watches from Azula's hallucination).
The dismal music, the animation, the choreography of the fight, the believable voice acting, and the emotional weight. I believe this fight is one that is under appreciated, and I wanted to shed some light on why I loved it so much. Enjoy! Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/sagesrain)
(ft. Mark Neely)Things get serious when the gang visits the Southern Air Temple, Zuko gets into a pickle with Commander Zhao, and a certain lemur pops up in this episode! Listen along as Mark and I discuss and break down the first Agni Kai and much more!
On this week's episode, Alex and Vincent chat while the Fire Nation attacks.Brandon is still busy with life this week, so Alex managed to find some people willing to put up with him for a few hours. Vincent returns to the show along with Robyn (sort of) and new guest Jasmine to talk about all kinds of nerdy things. After a highly controversial ABC's of Geekdom segment, Alex launches into corrections from the previous week, including The Hunger Games, Sherlock, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Joy, Aqualad, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Narnia, The Mechanic Resurrection, Moana, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Resident Evil, lots of Pokémon stuff, Arrow, Ghost Rider, Suicide Squad, and Assault on Arkham. After that, the gang talks about the news from the past week, including a new animated Batman movie, Harley Quinn and Deadshot coming to Injustice 2, Kenny Baker's death, Natalie Portman leaving the MCU, a new Marvel series coming to Hulu, even more Pokémon news, Jared Leto in Blade Runner 2, casting for The Flash TV show, Cyborg appearing in The Flash movie, a new take on Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, an animated Godzilla movie, and a new character coimg to Arrow. With the news taken care of, Alex gets to do a segment he's waited a long time for, Everything Wrong With The Legend of Korra (major spoilers from around 2:02:48-2:32:00). The intrepid trio talks about all the things they didn't like with Nickelodeon's disappointing follow up to the beloved Last Airbender series, as well as the few things they did like. Tempers flare more than an Agni Kai under Sozin's Comet, so you don't want to miss that. Endings are hard. Storytellers have struggled with bringing narratives to a satisfying conclusion for as long as there have been storytellers. And audiences love to debate how well even the most venerated series have pulled it off. On this episode of The Avatar Returns Podcast our hosts have their say on whether, with "Sozin's Comet," the four-chapter series finale film event, co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino have successfully completed the epic tale of Avatar: The Last Airbender, or if the whole thing goes down like a shattered war balloon. Topics discussed include the emotional grandeur of Zuko and Azula's final Agni Kai, the resolution of Aang and Katara's "will they/won't they," the music of The Track Team, and of course the ol' deus ex Lion Turtle. Midichlorian-bending has come at last! Our journey through the world of Avatar has been emotional and inspiring, and we're sad to see it come to a close. But the show must go on, and for us it will go on with The Legend of Korra! New characters, new adventures, a brand new Avatar! But first... Next: we refuse to let the Aang Gang go quite yet, so before we begin our Korra discussions, we read the first collected volume of Dark Horse Comics' official tie-in series of graphic novels, Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Promise. The Breakdown Intro / Banter (00:00 - 07:12) Main Topic (07:12 - 1:43:54) Outro / Next (1:43:54 - 1:47:51)
