Join Andrew and Aaron as they delve into the high-octane world of The Transporter, the 2002 action-thriller that solidified Jason Statham (The Expendables, Crank) as a leading action star. Statham portrays Frank Martin, a professional driver with a strict code, whose latest assignment leads him into unexpected danger. The film also features Shu Qi (The Assassin, Journey to the West) as Lai, a mysterious passenger who becomes central to the unfolding plot, and François Berléand (Tell No One, The Chorus) as Inspector Tarconi, the persistent law enforcer on Frank's trail. Notable scenes include the adrenaline-pumping "Greased Fighting" sequence, where Frank ingeniously uses motor oil to outmaneuver his adversaries, and the daring "Skydive onto the Convoy" stunt, showcasing his fearless determination. These sequences have captivated audiences and are among the film's most viewed clips on YouTube. For fans eager to explore more of Statham's filmography, some of his most popular movies include Snatch (2000), Crank (2006), The Expendables series (2010-2014), Safe (2012), Parker (2013), Furious 7 (2015), Mechanic: Resurrection (2016), and The Meg (2018). This week, Michelle Yeoh plays a supporting role in 2016's MECHANIC: RESURRECTION, the sequel to 2011's THE MECHANIC, which was itself a remake of 1972's THE MECHANIC. The Jason Statham vehicle features lots of fun action scenes... and unfortunately, the movie doesn't have Michelle Yeoh get involved with any of them! Instead, we've got a gonzo Tommy Lee Jones performance, rooftop pools turning into deathtraps, and more anonymous henchmen than can be counted.

So plaudert der gebürtige Hannoveraner u.a.

Every once in a while, a sequel comes along that makes you sit back, take stock, and wonder, “What the hell is Hollywood thinking?!” Our topic this week is unnecessary sequels, why do we have them? Not the worst sequels, mind you, we are talking about the most UNNECESSARY sequels ever made. Movies where the original didn’t even do well financially, it’s been too many years, the original stars didn’t return, or maybe the story was already complete. Those movies where, by most standards of reasoning, a sequel shouldn’t even be a thought. And ultimately, what IS the most unnecessary movie sequel ever? Join in on our conversation and listen to the latest episode of The Hollywood Outsider. Discussed on this episode of The Hollywood Outsider Movie and TV Podcast: (0:00 – 17:39) Hugh Jackman hangs up his claws as Wolverine, a Big Lebowski spin-off is secretly filming, remakes are in place for Clue, The Lost Boys, Anne of Green Gables, The Departed, and much more (17:40 – 1:05:14) From The Outside In Topic: What is the most unnecessary movie sequel of all time?  | Listener topic comments (1:05:15 – 1:42:19) What’s This Movie? | Spoiler-Free Reviews of Don’t Breathe, Imperium, The Bronze and Hell or High Water  | Box Office | New Releases: Hands of Stone, Mechanic Resurrection, and Don’t Breathe  | Blu-Ray and VOD Releases | Significant Anniversary (1:42:20 – 2:00:14) Recommendations and Outrage | Closing | Outtakes Find John Davenport on Twitter @rjohn_draws or at Facebook.com/rjohnart Listen to our Star Trek Beyond or Suicide Squad Reactions Podcast or our latest Remake This Movie RIGHT on Stephen King’s The Mist Email us your thoughts on the episode, answer our ‘What’s This Movie?’, or suggest a topic to feedback@thehollywoodoutsider.com or leave us a message at 818-814-6246. ABC Podcast: Alex and Brandon Chat

On this week's episode, Alex and Vincent chat while the Fire Nation attacks.Brandon is still busy with life this week, so Alex managed to find some people willing to put up with him for a few hours. Vincent returns to the show along with Robyn (sort of) and new guest Jasmine to talk about all kinds of nerdy things. After a highly controversial ABC's of Geekdom segment, Alex launches into corrections from the previous week, including The Hunger Games, Sherlock, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Joy, Aqualad, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Narnia, The Mechanic Resurrection, Moana, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Resident Evil, lots of Pokémon stuff, Arrow, Ghost Rider, Suicide Squad, and Assault on Arkham. After that, the gang talks about the news from the past week, including a new animated Batman movie, Harley Quinn and Deadshot coming to Injustice 2, Kenny Baker's death, Natalie Portman leaving the MCU, a new Marvel series coming to Hulu, even more Pokémon news, Jared Leto in Blade Runner 2, casting for The Flash TV show, Cyborg appearing in The Flash movie, a new take on Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, an animated Godzilla movie, and a new character coimg to Arrow. With the news taken care of, Alex gets to do a segment he's waited a long time for, Everything Wrong With The Legend of Korra (major spoilers from around 2:02:48-2:32:00). The intrepid trio talks about all the things they didn't like with Nickelodeon's disappointing follow up to the beloved Last Airbender series, as well as the few things they did like. Tempers flare more than an Agni Kai under Sozin's Comet, so you don't want to miss that. Arthur Bishop is) retired from the contract killing profession, but gets pulled back in again by one of his old enemies, an international arms dealer named Riah Crain, looking to root him out for another contract that Bishop initially rebuffs. While on the resort beaches of Thailand, Bishop ends up saving an abused damsel named Gina and soon enters into a romance with her. When the big-bad ends up kidnapping Bishop's new lover, he reluctantly consents to perform three near-impossible assassinations of extremely well-guarded targets within a day and a half, and has to make them all look like they were fluke accidents. Failure means the end of Gina, and probably Bishop too, if Crain manages to find him again.

This episode’s a bit different than most:  No entertainment news roundtable, no movie review, just sheer listmania from start to finish. Here’s the deal:  The Screeners have decided to try their hands at picking the top summer movies of 2016, as determined by their box office haul. The “official” rules are here, but Chad didn’t read them, so why should you? It’s pretty simple, actually:  Rank the gross domestic (US + Canada) profit of movies released between May 6 and September 5 from 1 to 10 in descending order, and pick 3 more “dark horses” that you’re not as confident about but think might make a good showing. We won’t summarise the gory scoring details here, but rest assured:  There will be a winner, and that winner will inflict some form of horrific cinematic torture on the rest of our beloved Screeners. Some of them might not make it, but they knew that when they signed up for this.Just so no one can back out of their terrible, terrible picks after the fact, we’re going to post them all right here, right now; don’t read on if you want to play along unbiased by your favorite Screener’s opinions. OK—we’ll list Josh’s first so you can have just a taste of how this goes; we’re pretty sure he’s not your favorite Screener anyway.Josh:Captain America: Civil WarSuicide SquadIndependence Day ResurgenceX-Men ApocalypseStar Trek BeyondJason BourneTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the ShadowsMechanic: ResurrectionCentral IntelligenceFinding DoryDark Horses:The Secret Life of PetsIce Age: Collision CourseGhostbustersDaniel:Captain America: Civil WarFinding DoryX-Men: ApocalypseSuicide SquadIndependence Day: ResurgenceStar Trek BeyondThe Secret Life of PetsGhostbustersJason BourneCentral IntelligenceDark Horses:Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the ShadowsAlice Through the Looking GlassIce Age: Collision CourseMelody:Captain America Civil WarFinding DorySuicide SquadThe Secret Life of PetsX-men ApocalypseIndependence Day: ResurgenceGhostbustersStar Trek BeyondAngry BirdsJason BourneDark Horses:Central IntelligenceTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the ShadowsNeighbors 2Chris:Captain America: Civil WarIndependence Day: ResurgenceX-Men ApocalypseFinding DoryGhostbustersThe Secret Life of PetsSuicide SquadStar Trek BeyondTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the ShadowsJason BourneDark Horses:Neighbors 2Bad MomsCentral IntelligenceChad:Captain America: Civil WarFinding DorySuicide SquadThe Secret Life of PetsX-Men ApocalypseStar Trek BeyondAngry BirdsJason BourneTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the ShadowsGhostbustersDark Horses:Central IntelligenceBFGAlice Through the Looking Glass
