Conspicuously absent on last month's Better Call Saul podcast, Josh Sarnecky returns to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Avatar: The Last Airbender with his brother Aaron.Avatar: The Last Airbender is an animated action-adventure series created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The series premiered on Nickelodeon on February 21, 2005. It ran for three seasons and 61 episodes, finishing on July 19, 2008.The series takes place in a fantasy world where “benders” can manipulate the elements of water, earth, fire, and air.  The world fell out of balance when the Fire Nation invaded its neighbors. Protagonist Aang (Zach Tyler Eisen) is the last surviving Airbender and the Avatar, who can control all four elements. He must defeat the Fire Lord (Mark Hamill) to end the war. Aiding Aang are his Water Tribe friends Katara (Mae Whitman) and Sokka (Jack DeSena), as well as Earthbender Toph (Michaela Jill Murphy).Other characters include the Fire Lord's banished son Zuko (Dante Basco), Zuko's ruthless sister Azula (Grey DeLisle), and their Uncle Iroh (Mako, Greg Baldwin). Many critics regard Avatar: The Last Airbender as one of the greatest animated series of all time, praising it for its blend of lighthearted comedy, deep themes, character growth, mythology, and martial arts-based action. The series won one Primetime Emmy for Individual Achievement in Animation and was nominated for another for Outstanding Animated Program. The cartoon spawned a sequel series, The Legend of Korra, as well as multiple comics and books. More shows and movies are in the works, including a movie following Aang and a sequel to The Legend of Korra called Avatar: Seven Havens.Aaron and Josh talk about their history with Avatar: The Last Airbender before going into the show's plot, characters, animation, and legacy. They also discuss the show's live-action adaptations and the new projects coming from Avatar Studios. For more Nicktoons, you can listen Josh and Aaron's podcasts on SpongeBob SquarePants and Rugrats.Avatar: The Last Airbender is streaming on Netflix and Paramount+

Avatar: The Last Airbender is an American fantasy drama television series developed by Albert Kim for Netflix. It is a live-action adaptation of the animated television series of the same name created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko for Nickelodeon. The series features an ensemble cast including Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Dallas Liu, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Ken Leung, and Daniel Dae Kim. The series is set in a fictional world where human civilization is divided into four nations based on the four classical elements: the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads. In each nation, some people known as "benders" can telekinetically manipulate one of the four elements. The story follows the journey of twelve-year-old Aang, the last survivor of the Air Nomads and the next "Avatar" who can master all four elements. The series was first announced in September 2018, with DiMartino and Konietzko attached as both executive producers and showrunners. However, in June 2020, the pair departed the series over creative differences. In August 2021, Kim was officially announced as a writer, executive producer and showrunner. It was released on Netflix on February 22, 2024.[3][4] It garnered mixed reception from critics, with praise for the visuals and production design but criticism for the writing. The series is set in a war-torn world inspired by various Asian and Indigenous cultures where certain people can "bend" one of the four classical elements—water, earth, fire or air. Aang, the "Avatar" and the last living Airbender, is the bridge between the mortal and spirit worlds, and the only one capable of bending all four of the elements instead of just one. The Avatar maintains the balance of the world and nature to bring peace, and Aang is now faced with the responsibility of ending the ambitions of the militaristic Fire Nation to conquer the world. With his new companions Katara and Sokka, Aang sets out to master the four elements while pursued by Zuko, the exiled crown prince of the Fire Nation, who seeks to regain his honor by capturing him.[5] Premise[edit]

Netflix will es jetzt besser machen.

A new report from Avatar News suggests that Netflix's upcoming live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender and the world being built by Avatar Studios are related and that Netflix has the rights to adapt the characters and story of the show. The report also suggests that the relationship between Avatar Studios and Netflix is positive, but this has not been officially confirmed. The creators of the animated series, Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino, were originally attached to the live-action series at Netflix, but they announced their departure two years into the development of the show. They are now co-chief creative officers of Avatar Studios, a division of Nickelodeon dedicated to expanding the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. -------------------- *Check Out All Our Podcasts!* Geek Freaks Podcast: https://linktr.ee/GeekFreaks Pushing Buttons: https://linktr.ee/PushingButtonsPodcast TrekFreaks: https://linktr.ee/TrekFreaks Headlines: https://tinyurl.com/2p8bvu6d Geek Freaks Interviews: https://linktr.ee/GeekFreaksInterviews Outlast Podcast: https://linktr.ee/OutlastPodcast Round Three: https://linktr.ee/RoundThree Disney Moms Gone Wrong: https://linktr.ee/disneymomsgonewrong Sloop: https://www.patreon.com/GeekFreakspodcast -------------------- *Hang Out With Us!* Discord: https://discord.gg/6Jrvyb2 Twitter: twitter.com/geekfreakspod Facebook: facebook.com/groups/227307812330853/ Instagram: instagram.com/geekfreakspodcast E-mail: thegeekfreakspodcast@gmail.com Twitch: twitch.tv/geekfreakspodcast Site: thegeekfreakspodcast.com --------------------- *Support Us!* Patreon: https://patreon.com/GeekFreakspodcast Store: redbubble.com/people/GeekFreaks

From the brilliant minds of Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko sprung "Avatar: The Last Airbender," a profoundly Asian-inspired fantasy world that embraced the Hero's Journey through the beautifully complex protagonist Aang, a 12 year old destined to save the world from the imperialistic Fire Nation. Far from just an animated series, "The Last Airbender" and its successor, "The Legend of Korra," intelligently tackle serious themes, like colonization, female empowerment, and more, which is why the franchise has situated itself as a favorite amongst the young and the old.

After the success of Avatar: The Last Airbender, show creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko decided to tell the story of the next Avatar; headstrong 17-year-old Korra of the Southern Water Tribe. Set seventy years after the concluding events of Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra catapulted watchers into the future of The Four Nations to see the mark Team Avatar left on their world, including the creation of Republic City, Aang's crowning achievement. Premiering April 14th, 2012 on Nickelodeon, The Legend of Korra ran for four seasons and expanded upon the world and lore of Avatar in new and exciting ways. Clearly ahead of its time, The Legend of Korra was the first show on Nickelodeon not programmed for Nick at Nite to show a same-sex relationship. From representation, to the addition of futuristic tech and Pro-Bending, Legend of Korra found a way to entice both new and old fans alike. On today's episode, Jon, Scarlett, and Ashley enthusiastically venture once again to the Four Nations to discuss the sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra. GC's own Team Avatar DO THE THING and dive into topics such as the show's surprisingly dark themes, the villains, comparisons between the two shows, how Nickelodeon really screwed over the creative team mid-way through the series' run, and more! The trio also discuss some of The Legend of Korra comics and the recent news surrounding Avatar Studios. Coincidentally, the studio announced its formation the week after our Avatar: The Last Airbender episode dropped. Whether you're a huge Avatar fan, or looking to discover more about it, today's episode is the perfect opportunity to explore this incredible world. Endings are hard. Storytellers have struggled with bringing narratives to a satisfying conclusion for as long as there have been storytellers. And audiences love to debate how well even the most venerated series have pulled it off. On this episode of The Avatar Returns Podcast our hosts have their say on whether, with "Sozin's Comet," the four-chapter series finale film event, co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino have successfully completed the epic tale of Avatar: The Last Airbender, or if the whole thing goes down like a shattered war balloon. Topics discussed include the emotional grandeur of Zuko and Azula's final Agni Kai, the resolution of Aang and Katara's "will they/won't they," the music of The Track Team, and of course the ol' deus ex Lion Turtle. Midichlorian-bending has come at last! Our journey through the world of Avatar has been emotional and inspiring, and we're sad to see it come to a close. But the show must go on, and for us it will go on with The Legend of Korra! New characters, new adventures, a brand new Avatar! But first... Next: we refuse to let the Aang Gang go quite yet, so before we begin our Korra discussions, we read the first collected volume of Dark Horse Comics' official tie-in series of graphic novels, Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Promise.     The Breakdown Intro / Banter (00:00 - 07:12) Main Topic (07:12 - 1:43:54) Outro / Next (1:43:54 - 1:47:51)
