If there was one thing you think society should talk more about, what would it be? “The C word is killing us. Convenience. It’s the most destructive human trait. Moreso even than greed. Fast. Disposable. Cheap. Instantly gratifying. I think we all need to change our thinking and conversations around "convenience" being a good thing. Because it raises the question - WHY do we need this convenience? What are we making more time for? And what are we losing in the process? Mindfulness. Experience.” _____ André Eikmeier is a $100m startup founder, brand visionary, adventurer, storyteller, and passionate thought leader on purpose, culture, growing tribes and being human. He talks openly about his own failures and the insights that have shaped him and built his success. As a startup founder and champion of change for good, André is probably best known for co-founding and building online wine startup Vinomofo into a $100m global company renowned for its strong customer culture and helped change the very brand of wine in this country - I myself was an early fan of the brand & still buy (way too much) from them today!! Life before that is a twenty-year story of 5 failed businesses and 3 different careers, from writing to acting on screen and stage to fronting Australia’s biggest covers band of the 90s...mixed in with a year-long kombi wine adventure. In 2018, André founded Good Empire, a global community platform to gather, unite and empower people to live more connected, purposeful, and impactful lives. As a guy with a strong moral code and champion of change for good - he seems to hit his soul's work. With Year of the Planet they’re helping people change their lives to live more sustainably, and now the One Million Butterflies project is helping empower and reconnect people around the world through this time of big change, fear and uncertainty. He’s driven by purpose, to bring to life into a more equal, abundant and sustainable world. At the age of 12, Justin Dry saw his entrepreneur father lose everything. Now, Justin is the co-founder and CEO of one of Australia’s fastest growing companies, Vinomofo. He joins us for our second COVID-19 ‘lockdown’ episode, chatting to us from his home office at the dining room table, with handy access to the wine fridge and his 4-month-old daughter Matisse in the next room. Justin and his brother-in-law Andre Eikmeier launched Vinomofo from their Adelaide garage in 2011, and since then it has grown to over $50 million in annual revenue, 500,000 members and operations across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. Earlier generations of Justin’s family planted the first vines in the Barossa, so wine practically flows through his veins, but it took a couple of turns on the small business merry-go-round before he and Andre hit on a winning idea. Justin opens up about those earlier business experiences and how they helped build Vinomofo – as well as the business decision that saw him repeating his father’s mistakes. We also chat about Justin’s love for self-motivation and forward planning, how he thinks COVID-19 will reshape the wine industry, and his passion for island holidays. Though Vinomofo was launched in 2011, it really started life back in 2007 in the garage of brothers-in-law and fellow wine geeks Justin Dry and Andre Eikmeier, who just wanted to do something cool for wine lovers and producers. Andre was excited by the “voice of the people”, the idea of real people rating and […] The post How to build an epic brand with Vinomofo! appeared first on SRSCC.

Vinomofo, a rapidly growing, Melbourne based, online wine deals website, grew from a garage startup to $40 million in sales in 4 years. Andre Eikmeier and Justin Dry co-founders of Vinomofo struggled for years finding a business model that worked before finally building the wine group buying platform that sent the company into a period of rapid, record company growth. www.startup50k.com
It’s a competitive market spanning boutique to mass market, amateur to global production. So how can you make your mark in the world of wine? Andre Eikmeier, co-founder of wine-buying group Vinomofo, reckons the answer is by building and maintaining a loyal following. Using social channels to share bespoke and user generated content, Andre has taken Vinomofo from garage to global with his ‘tribe’ along for the ride. Andre chats with Xero In hosts Rob Stone and Jeanne-Vida Douglas about his journey from wine fan to small business owner, his authentic approach to storytelling, and the importance of keeping it real.
This is a story of how and why it's so damn important to build a brand and have the guts to stick to it through thick and thin. In 2006, Andre Eikmeier started an online forum called Qwoff, a place where the average Joe could discuss wine without all the fancy talk. Three years later, and not a cent richer, he (and his business partner) launched VinoMofo, an online, in-your-face wine retailer that (in their own words) "...offers a small selection of hand-picked wines and wine-like things ... at very mofo prices." Hear how Andre took VinoMofo from zero to hero using the power of branding, and was subsequently bought by Catch Of The Day, Australia's biggest group buying site last year. If the idea of taking your business from bland to brand appeals then listen up ... Andre shares some absolute marketing gold.
