Do you ever feel like you have to do everything on your own? Like you can't depend on anyone else? A lot of us think that being independent means being strong. What if you trusted His plan for your life instead of your own? I can tell you from experience, starting a relationship with Jesus will change your life in the most marvelous ways. Pray. Ask God to guide you in His wisdom today. Watch, and see what He will do. Always remember, there is hope with God. I'm Andrew Palau. radio.hopewithgod.com

Hope with God... with Andrew and Wendy Palau

The Bible tells us of a day when Jesus will come back to reign on the earth. It says… The last enemy to be destroyed is death. But we don't have to wait until that day to experience Jesus' victory. If you decide to give your life to Jesus, He will trade it in for a new, revitalized life filled with His Holy Spirit. Do you yearn for that deep, lasting peace? Well, you can have it.
Why not ask Him for it today? Pray with me… Jesus, I give my old life to you. All of my wrong, all of my sin, all of my destructive behavior and words and actions. I'm sorry. Wash me clean— let my old self die away and be resurrected to new life. Will you make me a new creation? I choose this day to follow You, Jesus, as the Lord of my life. Amen. Always remember there is hope with God. I'm Andrew Palau. Bible Reference: 1 Corinthians 15:26 radio.hopewithgod.com

You know, my wife, Wendy, and I go around the world and speak to so many people, and we have run into many who've attempted suicide. Among the majority of these survivors we talk to, the feeling at the moment of their attempt is this: immediate regret. I want to live! Even when life gets incredibly difficult, even when you're facing unimaginable pain; there's a desire to live. And that is because you are here for a purpose. Life on this earth includes pain, the Bible talks about it. But that is not the end of the story, not your story. There is One greater than all the pain you experience in this world. And He will bring you peace—not some imagined escape, but the peace of a new, revitalized life. Call out to Jesus, we stand with you. He is the One who loves you. He is the giver of life. Always remember there is hope with God. I'm Andrew Palau. "For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." Have you ever had a friend rave about a movie or a book, telling you it's absolutely life-changing? You might be curious, but until you experience it for yourself, how can you truly know? Right? It's kind of the same thing with faith. One of the disciples, Thomas, found the story of Jesus' resurrection unbelievable. And he said, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my fingers where the nails were, and put my hands into his side, I will not believe.” Jesus invited him to come and see for himself. Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe. Maybe you want to experience the love of Jesus, but you're not quite sure it's real. Just come to Jesus the same way Thomas did. Pray to Him and say, Lord, if You're real, show me who You are. Help me to understand the truth. Amen. Always remember there is hope with God. Have you ever been hurt by someone who claimed to be religious? It's a pain that many have experienced, and it can leave a deep wound. As Jesus was praying with his disciples in the garden of Gethsemane the night before he would be crucified, a group of men came to arrest Jesus. One of His disciples, trying to defend Him, pulled out a sword and cut off the ear of one of the men. What do you think Jesus did? He actually reprimanded His own follower, right there in front of everyone. And then, in an amazing act of compassion, He healed the man's ear before allowing Himself to be taken away. If you've been hurt by a religious person—the person who hurt you was not Jesus. Jesus is not the abuser. Jesus is the healer. He's the one who mends broken hearts. You can come to Him and know this for sure—He will care for you. Always remember there is hope with God. I'm Andrew Palau. "He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds." Hope with God... with Andrew and Wendy Palau

According to the Book of John, the first to see Jesus after He rose from the dead was Mary Magdalene. She had come to weep at His tomb. Jesus approached her and asked, “Why are you weeping?” Even though He spoke to her twice, she did not recognize Him. Then, something beautiful happened. Jesus called out to her by name, “Mary.” At that moment, she knew it was Jesus, and she cried out in joy. And she went and shared the happy news with the other disciples; just as He promised, He had come alive. Do you hear God calling your name today? You can let your old life, all your mistakes, all your deadly habits, be buried. You can come out of that grave, washed clean by God's grace, a new person altogether. Ask Him to come into your heart, to forgive you of all your sins, and place His love like a seal over your heart. Always remember there is hope with God. I'm Andrew Palau. radio.hopewithgod.com

It was prophesied long, long ago that one day a sacrificial hero would arrive. He would be God Himself. He would eliminate the power of death, overturn evil, and rescue all who would come to Him. That's Jesus. Jesus said as He died on the cross, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” When He took all the sins of the world upon Himself, the Bible says He became sin for us, and His Father, God, had to turn His face away. Jesus was quoting an old and well-known song that spoke of the long-awaited Savior. It was His way of telling the people, It's me! I'm the one and I am here. And I have come to save you. Will you let Him save you? Ask Him to come to be the Savior of your soul. Believe in Him. Put your faith in Him today. Always remember there is hope with God. I'm Andrew Palau. radio.hopewithgod.com

Have you ever wondered… When Jesus died on the cross, did He really die, or just partially die? How did that work? Well, when He breathed His last on the cross, death attempted to take down the author of life. Without a doubt, He did die. He even lay dead in the grave for three days. Revelation 1:18, says this, Jesus says, I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive forever and forever! And I hold the keys to death and Hades. At the moment of His death, the earth shook! There was a massive earthquake, and inside the temple, a thick veil was torn in half. That veil symbolized the separation between us, sinful humans, and our holy God. Because of Jesus' sacrifice, all who choose to follow Him are made clean. Always remember there is hope with God. Hope with God... with Andrew and Wendy Palau

Before Jesus came into the earth as a human, the Bible tells us He already existed. Before the beginning of time! Out of pure, overwhelming love, He willingly became a human baby entering into the very world that He created Himself. He willingly stepped into our human experience, with all of our struggles and limitations, knowing from the very beginning that He had one main purpose: to go to the cross and die. He loved the world so much that He went into it and died to restore all of humanity's relationship to the one true God. For all those who would choose Him, for all who would follow Him. Will you choose to follow Him today? Pray with me now. God, I give You my life. Wash me clean of all my sins. And I receive You, Your good gifts, Your promises, new life, forgiveness, and eternity. Amen. Always remember there is hope with God. I'm Andrew Palau. radio.hopewithgod.com

Hope with God... with Andrew and Wendy Palau

1 John 3:16 says this... This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. Is this the way you've thought about God? As the One whose love actually moves us to love others, to show compassion, and moves us to live generously? This isn't some distant, uncaring God. This is a God whose heart beats for you and for every single person on this planet as well. He longs for everyone to know Him, to experience His perfect, life-changing love. And He wants us to be a part of sharing that love, spreading the word about who He is to the whole world! This is your opportunity today to rethink whatever you may have heard about Jesus. Will you take that risk and ask God to meet with you right now? Always remember there is hope with God. I'm Andrew Palau. radio.hopewithgod.com

Hope with God... with Andrew and Wendy Palau

I'm sure that you've heard the saying, “It's better to give than to receive.” Did you know that Jesus is the one who said that? The Apostle Paul quotes Him in Acts 20:35 when he says, “…. by this kind of hard work, we must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus himself, who said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.' ” There is one thing, however, that we cannot give but only receive ourselves. And that is our salvation. The rescue that Jesus Christ gives from the grip of death. The repairing of our relationship with our loving Creator, God. We are invited to receive this gift. We believe, we repent, and we receive forgiveness and eternal life. What a gift! Then, your life becomes a living testimony that will lead others to Jesus Christ and the gift of eternal life. Do you need hope in your life? Starting even today, in Jesus, you can have peace that doesn't depend on your circumstances. The Holy Spirit will fill you to overflowing, an overflowing of His powerful love. He's the one who can start the restoration of your broken life. Will you let His comforting presence begin to heal even the deepest wounds of your heart? The Bible promises in Revelation 21 that one day, He will wipe every tear from our eyes. There will be no more death, no more mourning, or crying, or pain because the old order of things will have passed away. God is making all things new. Do you believe that Jesus is who He says that He is? Do you believe that He loves you? He does. Do you believe that He wants to comfort you in your pain? As human beings, we need constant support, we love acknowledgment, and we need kindness. And there is not enough of it. You and I were designed to be fulfilled, satisfied by the One who created us—God alone! And He, the very one who made us, knows exactly what we need. God is inviting you into an intimate relationship, unlike anything you can experience from humans. And He loves you right now. Do you want to know the love of the living God? Pray this prayer right now… Lord, nothing I have found satisfies my soul, and I want to be filled by you. Fill me with Your Spirit. Fill me with Your unfailing love. I give You my life. There is darkness and hatred, and evil all around us. After a while, it starts to feel normal. Evil becomes standard—goodness seems so rare. But from the very beginning, God had a plan to rescue us from this brokenness. It was Jesus! Jesus is the one and only savior for us because He became human and walked through the depths of this world's brokenness. When He was crucified, He bore the penalty of all of our sins—not only yours and mine, but the sins of the whole world! The prophet Isaiah said this about Jesus, “For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine.” Jesus is available to you right now. He is ready and willing to shine His light into your life. Will you say yes to Jesus, and step into His light? Do it today. Always remember there is hope with God. Have you experienced rejection? Listen to this passage from the book of Ephesians in the Bible… Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. The loving embrace of our perfect Father can change your life forever. It's never too late to start again. No matter what you've done, you can be made new and clean through the powerful, loving sacrifice of Jesus. He died on the cross to wash away every sin, every wrong thing that you've ever done. Have you ever felt the sadness of being rejected? You get passed over, embarrassed in front of other people. Oh, we've all felt that. Those feelings of rejection take root in your life, especially if it's something personal and really close to home. Know this: A better day is coming. Listen to these words of Jesus… Don't let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father's home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. That feeling of rejection doesn't have to last forever. As a matter of fact, God is inviting you today into His own family. Say “Yes” to Him! He loves you, He will accept you with great joy. Have you ever found yourself trying to earn your place in this world? Well, the truth is, none of us can earn our worth. That's because worthiness is actually a gift, you don't earn it. Your existence on this planet. The breath in your lungs. Your very own soul and spirit that inhabit your body. These are all unearned gifts given to us by our loving creator, God, Himself. Do you want to know the One who made you? The Bible says that for those who know Him, God … …has provided us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us. That means that when you invite Him into your life, His Spirit will come and live within you. If you want that, pray with me right now… God, thank You for making me, for loving me, and for giving me the gift of life. I want to know You, Jesus. Fill my life and my heart with Your Spirit and Your truth. Amen. Remember, there is always hope with God. This is Andrew Palau. These words of Jesus are for you today. He says… “Are you tired? Worn out?...Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me, work with me—watch how I do it…. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.” Do you want what Jesus is offering? It requires letting go of what is preventing peace in your life- everything that keeps you distant from the relationship with God that you were created for. If you're ready to put that away, pray with me now: Jesus, I believe that You died on the cross to set me free and wash away every wrong thing I've ever done. I let go of my old self, all of my sin. Raise me to new life, give me true rest. Let my new life in You begin right now. Amen. Remember, there is always hope with God. Did you know that the Bible is about you? It's about so many things, but yes, it's true! The Bible talks about all the people of the world…our struggle, the love God feels towards us, and the good plans He has for us. When Jesus entered the world as a baby, the angel announced that it was Good News! Not just for a few people, not just for those who were religious. The angel declared that this news of Jesus' birth would bring great joy to all people. And that, of course, includes you! You might be thinking, “What does the birth of Jesus have to do with me?” Well, Jesus came for a purpose. He came to draw all people to Himself. He came to offer you a fresh start and a new life. He came so that you can be forgiven of your sins, and begin a free life, strengthened by a powerful friendship with the Living God. Remember, there is always hope with God. This is Andrew Palau. Has your life ever been changed by a book? I can think of so many books that have influenced my thinking, inspired me, and blessed my life. And I know it might sound crazy, but there is one book that claims to do what no other book can do: To cut into the heart like a double-edged sword, dividing between soul and spirit. To contain the words of life. It even contains a powerful message that can lead us to spiritual rescue. That book is the Bible. It contains God's offer of new and unending life, freedom, love, companionship, and deep peace. The Apostle Paul spoke about it this way: For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes… Try reading the Bible today. It can change your life AND your eternity. Remember, there is always hope with God. This is Andrew Palau. What if I told you the Bible is more than a book—it's a way for us to know the God of the universe? Listen to this opening line from the book of John… In the beginning, there was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The “Word” that was with God at the beginning of time was a person- it was Jesus. Jesus is often called “the Word” or “the Word of the Father.” Jesus walked the earth as God's Son and His messenger, delivering God's offer of new life, eternal life, to all humanity. Doesn't that make you curious? You can read the Bible for yourself to find out what Jesus was really like. You can read the book of John today. You might find that God is stronger, kinder, and much more beautiful than you ever imagined. And His offer of life? It's waiting for you. Remember, there is always hope with God. How does the God of the universe communicate with humans? Graciously, God spoke to us in human language we can understand. He gave us the Bible—not just a book of history and stories written by humans, but divinely inspired by God. Here's what the apostle Paul said about his own participation in delivering messages from God… Dear brothers and sisters, I want you to understand that the gospel message I preach is not based on mere human reasoning. I received my message from no human source, and no one taught me. Instead, I received it by direct revelation from Jesus Christ. Don't miss out on God's message to humanity! No matter what you've heard about the Bible, I encourage you, read it for yourself. Start with the book of John. You have nothing to lose, everything to gain. Remember, there is always hope with God. Humans learn best through stories, and the Bible is the wonderful true story of who God is and who we are in this world. As the most well-preserved historical document in the history of the world, the Bible provides us with a trustworthy account of the Israelite people, and of the covenants God has made with humanity. It gives us context for our own purpose, and directs us towards God's grace and mercy. The book of 2nd Timothy says… You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. Have you put your trust in Jesus? Do you want to know who He is, what He is like, and what He is offering to you? Read through the book of John, one chapter per day. I read an article the other day and learned that when you hear a good story, your brain actually experiences it as though you're right there, living it yourself. So, what's the greatest story ever told? The story of Jesus, of course! The story of the Gospel. A true story. It gives an account of real events. And it's true in terms of what it means for you. Jesus came into the earth that He created. He died to pay for the sins of all mankind. And He offers you a relationship with Almighty God and eternal life. Jesus said this about the word of God, the Bible: …‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.' Will you experience it for yourself? I challenge you: start with the book of John. Step into God's story and allow Him to change your life. Remember, there is always hope with God. This is Andrew Palau. Listen to this powerful verse from the Gospel of Matthew: Chapter 28, verse 19 says... Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Did you know that the word “go” in this verse means something closer to “as you go along”? That means you don't have to travel, necessarily, anywhere out of the ordinary in order to start sharing the Good News of Jesus. You just start right where you are. Start with the people around you, the ones you know already, and anyone new that you might meet. Start with the opportunities God puts right in your path today. The Gospel is a wonderful gift. It's not ours to keep for ourself or to keep secret. It's a gift for every person that we bring in the name of Jesus. Take a risk and begin to share openly what Jesus has done in your life. Have you ever had to deliver a message on behalf of someone else? Maybe a friend said, “Send my love to the family.” When you deliver messages like these, you're acting as an ambassador—representing someone who isn't physically there. Well, God has invited us to be His ambassadors. What an honor. You and I get to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a world where He is present in Spirit, but not in physical body. Listen to the words of 2 Corinthians 5, "For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people's sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are therefore, Christ's ambassadors…” The best way to represent Him well is to share the Good News. Take action as His ambassador today. I'll never forget my dad, Luis Palau, telling this story. When he was young, his mother knew he was meant to be an evangelist. After much urging from Grandma, Dad finally said, “Mom, give me a break! I'm waiting for the call.” Well, what was her reply? “The call?! The call went out 2,000 years ago!” She was talking about this, a verse, Mark 16:15 “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.” She was right! And you know what? It's also our call, yours and mine. But what will your answer be? Will you think today about the sphere of influence that God has given you? Who in your life needs to know that God is real and that He's good? Do they know that God, who created them, already knows them and loves them? When I was a young man, my addictions and inclination towards bad behavior and bad relationships nearly destroyed me. I was so far from God I never thought I would find my way back. Maybe you've heard about Jesus before and thought to yourself, “He would never want me.” You'll never be perfect. God knows this, and He still loves you. So much so that He made a way for you to be close to Him. He sent His very own Son, Jesus, into the world He created. He lived a perfect life but died a sinner's death. No matter how far from God you feel, His love is so big, big enough to close the distance. He rose again, breaking the power of sin and death once and for all for everyone who will choose to believe in Him and to follow Him. Give your life to Him today. He is waiting to receive you with that life-changing love. Remember, there is always hope with God. This is Andrew Palau. Has anyone ever told you, “Today's a gift…that's why it's called the present!” Well, it's a silly old joke; it's a pun, and puns work because there's some kind of truth to them, right? If you've never made the decision to follow Jesus, maybe today is your day. The gift of new life, eternal life- it was purchased by Jesus, and it is offered to you today and every day, unfailable. You can choose to follow Him as the Lord of your life. You can choose to give your heart to Him. Pray with me right now, God, give me this gift of starting again. Forgive me, take away my wrong, cover me with the righteousness, the rightness of Jesus. Jesus, I believe in You, that You rose again. That You broke the power of sin and death once and for all, and I will follow You. And I receive this gift. In Jesus' name, amen. Remember, there is always hope with God. This is Andrew Palau. By the time I was a young adult, I had done so many things I was ashamed of. I didn't know how to break the cycle. But God was so gracious to me. When I finally reached this breaking point—when the darkness began to really close in on me, God showed me… All of my sin, all of my shame…His sacrifice powerful enough to wash it away. He purged me of all these wrongs and gave me a new start. No matter what you've done, you can be made clean and made new through the powerful, loving sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Pray with me now: I believe You, that You died on the cross to wash away my every sin, every wrong I've ever done. Nothing is too big for You to wash away. I give it to You now. I'm choosing to follow You, Jesus. Let my new life in You begin right now. Amen. Remember, there is always hope with God. This is Andrew Palau. When I was young, I knew I could never compete with my brothers, the twins! They were perfect straight-A students, and I was the family wildcard, always in trouble. After many years of struggling to do better and failing, I discovered…There was someone who already knew me and loved me completely. It's God. And He has a good plan for your life. As humans, we're affected by sin. It's in our nature to stray away from God, but He made a plan to bring us to Himself. Do you want forgiveness? Do you want a new start in life? Pray today and put your life in His hands. He welcomes you with open arms. Remember, there is always hope with God. This is Andrew Palau. Do you ever feel like something's missing in your life? Think about it right now. Maybe something just popped in your head as I asked that question. Or maybe you're mostly happy except for the rare occasion when you find yourself sleepless, when you're feeling completely worn out. Whatever it is, I want to tell you, there's someone who knows your deepest needs. It's God. He has a wonderful plan for your life…for your thriving. Do you want this? Pray with me right now: Oh, Heavenly Father, I believe that You love me so much that You sent Your Son. Jesus, thank You for dying on the cross in my place. You took the punishment for my sin, to bring me into the restored relationship with You. Please forgive me. I offer my life to you. Holy Spirit, come in, take over, and lead me to life that is truly life. In Jesus name, Amen. Remember, there is always hope with God. This is Andrew Palau. I've said this to myself so many times: Remember, Andrew, you are forgiven. You're loved by your Heavenly Father. There is a purpose for your life. I have to remind myself of these truths because I'm prone to wander. I wander away from the mercy of God. And easily get discouraged and miss out on the gifts and the thriving life that He has for me, unless I allow those truths to correct my thinking. And the best friends in my life also remind me of the truth. When I forget who I am, they remind me of who God made me to be. And if I ever make excuses for my bad behavior. Believe me, they're right there, holding up a mirror so I can see the truth about myself and my actions. And they point me back to the truth of God. Think about the friends in your life who don't yet know the truth about Jesus. You know the truth of what awaits them in a life without God. Will you do the loving thing for your friends and share God's truth with them? Remember, there is always hope with God. This is Andrew Palau. Have you ever purposely hidden your faith? Sometimes we're aware that people have linked Christ to other people or other ideas or actions that don't reflect on who Jesus truly is. But the truth of Jesus' goodness persists. He is good. He is kind. He is loving beyond what we can ever comprehend. And it's okay if you need to make a clarification about that. You can say, “Look, I'm a Christian… that may not mean what you think it means. I'm a follower of Jesus. Can I tell you about how He's changed my life?” You don't need to immediately convince or convict someone. The Holy Spirit does so much of that. You can simply be honest about what Jesus did for you when you were lost in sin…when you were suffering from the sickness of despair. Every person has access to that same mercy Jesus offered you. Remember, there is always hope with God. This is Andrew Palau. "You must worship Christ as Lord of your life. Think about someone in your life that you love or care about. And when you love someone, you want what's best for them. You don't just sit around hoping things work out; you take action. And you talk to them about it, even if it's tough. You hold out hope for them, even when they do not. If we hold back from sharing the Gospel, thinking that we're being nice or polite or considerate… Are we really? Are we being loving? The apostle Paul was right when he said in Romans 10:14… …how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? Here's the truth: Sharing the Gospel is the most loving thing we can do. So, take a risk. Not out of duty, but for the sake of love. Decide to love your friends well by introducing them to the one who loves them the most. Remember, there is always hope with God. Do you ever feel the need to be perfect? Like you can't rest unless every flaw and failure in your life is fixed? Well, Jesus set us free from that kind of perfectionism. He knows… we will often fail. And we are flawed. And we sin. That's why He sent His son to purchase our freedom… Galatians 4 says… God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. Do you want to become a son or daughter of God today, and live in His freedom? You can pray, Lord, I confess I have failed and I have fallen short. But, today I want to become Your child. I want to love and follow You as the Lord of my life. Please come and set me free and give me new life. In Jesus name, Amen. Remember, there is always hope with God. What has been holding you back in life? Are there old habits, old ways of thinking, things that you just return to over and over that you know are weighing down your life? 1 Corinthians says… When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. I want to challenge you today to let go of the things that you know are holding you back. Pray with me, Jesus, forgive me for everything… all my sins. I need Your help to get unstuck from these old habits and all the temptations that are destroying me. And I cannot do it without You. I am trusting You today; help me. And thank you. Amen. If you prayed that prayer, reach out to a friend who will support you in this process. Keep praying, and don't give up. Jesus loves you! Remember, there is always hope with God. 2 Corinthians 5 says this... …anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! Now that is a promise! And as we look toward the start of a new calendar year, there is no time like the present to make a fresh start in life. Just like cleaning out and getting rid of old clothes, do the same with old habits that are not benefitting your life… You can actually choose to start a whole new life in Jesus Christ. Maybe you've heard of Jesus, and thought…Well, I've just gone too far. The things that I've done…I'll never be forgiven. How could I be made clean? Well, I want to tell you there is nothing that Jesus cannot forgive. He longs to forgive you. He wants you to come to Him. He's offering you new life — receive it now! Another Christmas has come and gone. Maybe you're still cleaning up the mess from your family celebrations. Or maybe you're wishing things had gone a little differently. The holidays can be very difficult for so many reasons, and maybe you're still reeling from the emotional toll that it can take. Pause for a minute and meditate on this thought. It's from Philippians 2: [Christ], being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used for his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing, by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. God became human because He loves you. So, we can bring all our joy or sorrow, our tiredness and pain to Him today. He will receive you with open arms. He offers you comfort, right now. This Christmas, I hope you feel the love and guiding presence of Jesus. As we celebrate the miracle of His birth—God in human form—let's remember that He was not only born to be the Savior of the world. He came to be a shepherd to His people- to you and to me. In Matthew 2, the priests reported this ancient prophecy, terrifying the evil king who was ruling at the time: And you, O Bethlehem in the land of Judah, are not least among the ruling cities of Judah, for a ruler will come from you who will be the shepherd for my people Israel.' Whatever is going on in your life at this moment, you don't have to be ruled by stress, anxiety, hurry, or worry. Let your loving shepherd, Jesus, guide you and care for you right now. He is the God who came to be with His people. And He loves you completely. Remember, there is always hope with God. Christmas is a season of miracles and expectation. The birth of Jesus was not a complete surprise to the Jewish people; they'd been waiting for a savior to come for a long time. They'd heard about Him long before in a scroll written by the prophet Isaiah. …the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us'). Some people were watching and eagerly awaiting the birth of Jesus. What are you expecting this Christmas? Count on this: Jesus came to earth because He loves you, and He wants to be with you. If you invite Him into your Christmas celebration, watch out for Him, expect Him; this will be your miracle… that the very presence of God will be with you this Christmas. The Christmas season can be so busy and stressful. Will you take a moment to hold still right now? Take a deep breath. Philippians 4:6 says this, Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Consider this your personal permission to pause from the hurried pace and come into a moment of prayer. You can bring everything that's on your mind and hand it over to God. He is faithful to care for you. Bring Him: Your needs Your worries The questions that you don't have answers to yet Your relationships Even your to-do list Place these things in God's capable hands. Have you ever thought this? My life will calm down in a few weeks. After I finish this project. As soon as I get a better job. When my kids are a little older… It's true that some seasons of life are more difficult than others, but it's also true that there is no magical arrival point. There's no time in our lives when everything is going to be sorted out just right. So, you may be thinking, Andrew, if that's the case, will I ever have peace?! Here's what Jesus said, I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. You can have God's peace right now. It comes in receiving God's offer of eternal life. It comes in knowing and trusting in a loving God who is powerful and able to change the things you cannot. Do you have peace in your heart? Deep peace that stays steady even when things are going badly? Long ago on the first Christmas, a group of angels announced the birth of Jesus to a group of shepherds watching their flocks one night. Luke 2 in the Message version of the Bible says… At once the angel was joined by a huge angelic choir singing God's praises: Glory to God in the heavenly heights, Peace to all men and women on earth who please him. The act of Jesus coming to earth, being born as a baby, and purchasing the forgiveness of all our sins on the cross was to bring us to a place of deep peace with God. In God, we find security, rest, and the promise of eternal life. And this assurance can hold us steady and peaceful even in the hardest times of life. Ask Him to plant His peace deep in your heart today. Remember, there is always hope with God. Have you ever wanted to share the Good News of Jesus but didn't feel like you had the right words? We do not need to rely on eloquence. We can just tell what He's done for us. The first ones to share the Gospel were a bunch of young shepherds. Most likely, children, dirty from tending sheep. An angel woke them up and told them, “Good News, a Savior has been born!” The Bible says... They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger. After seeing him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child. What these kids shared with everyone was not a polished sermon. It probably sounded more like, “You'll never believe what happened to us last night!” We can all share the Good News just like that. It's that simple. Tell someone today about what God has done and what He has done in your life. Remember, there is always hope with God. This is Andrew Palau. Who was the first to announce the birth of Jesus? Actually, it was a star. As the Bible tells the story, a group of wise men, they'd been watching for a star that would signal the birth of the Messiah. Matthew 2 tells it this way… And the star they had seen in the east guided them to Bethlehem. It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and they worshiped him. Creation itself was celebrating His existence and signaling His greatness! So many have not heard the Good News. They need the hope only Jesus offers. You can be just like that star, and point the way to Jesus for your friends and your family today. Remember, there is always hope with God. Did you know that Jesus foretold His own death? Often we think of Jesus dying on the cross as a tragedy, and we may even think it was cruel that God would let that happen. But no…Jesus knew this was His destiny, and He walked into it intentionally and willingly. Jesus said this about Himself, drawing from ancient prophecy: “The Son of Man must suffer many terrible things,” he said. “He will be rejected by the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He will be killed, but on the third day he will be raised from the dead.” And why would Jesus do this? Love. Out of love for you and for all people. His blood is the sacrifice that brings us back into right relationship with God. He became human because He wants to be with you. Will you receive Him? Remember, there is always hope with God. Have you ever wondered, “Why would God send His son, Jesus, into the world only to be executed on the cross?” It doesn't sound like something a good father would do. But it was a plan that was made long ago. And Jesus came into the world willingly, to offer Himself as a sacrifice. Listen to the words of John 3:16… "For this is the way God loved the world—He gave His only begotten son so that whoever believes in Him might be saved. For God did not come into the world to judge the world, but to save the world through Him." The story of all life is told through the Bible. Most stories are written by human authors, but the story of our world was written by God. It's a true story—the Bible! And not only that, the author of our story wrote Himself right into the plot and became the very character that changed everything! Luke 2:11 says this… The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! Yes, the Lord of everything in the heavens and the earth chose to become human like us—to be with His people. He knew He was the only one who could save us from this bad end, so He became the gate through which all people would have the chance to come safely into God's kingdom.
