"Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar" is a classic American radio drama series that originally aired from 1949 to 1962. It is often considered one of the best and longest-running detective shows in the history of old-time radio. Created by writer Jack Johnstone, the series followed the adventures of Johnny Dollar, an insurance investigator known for his dedication to solving insurance-related cases and his distinctive catchphrase, "Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar."The show typically featured a format known as the "expense account" format, where Johnny Dollar was portrayed as a freelance insurance investigator. Each episode began with Johnny receiving a phone call from an insurance company, assigning him to investigate a suspicious insurance claim or loss. He was then sent to various locations across the United States (and sometimes abroad) to unravel the mysteries surrounding the claims. One unique aspect of the show was its narrative structure. Johnny Dollar's investigations were presented in a flashback format, where he would detail the events of his investigation to the insurance company's accountant, explaining how he spent the money allocated for the case. This storytelling device allowed for a first-person narrative style that drew listeners into the mysteries and the life of the investigator.Throughout the series, Johnny Dollar was portrayed by several talented actors, including Charles Russell, Edmond O'Brien, John Lund, Bob Bailey, and Mandel Kramer. Each actor brought their own distinctive style to the character, contributing to the show's longevity and popularity."Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar" is celebrated for its well-written scripts, engaging mysteries, and the charismatic character of Johnny Dollar himself. It combined elements of crime drama, suspense, and adventure, making it a beloved radio program during its heyday. The show's memorable theme music and Johnny Dollar's sign-off, "Yours Truly," became iconic elements of the series.

Join us as we speak to Benjamin Harris, playwright of Wolfe of Bannoch, the audio play, as we learn what encouraged him to write the play, the history based on the characters and more! About the play: Join Alexander Stuart, the roguish Wolfe of Badenoch, on his reckless pursuit of power in medieval Scotland. Despite being the illegitimate son of the king., Alexander is determined to regain his lost titles and lands after being exiled from the realm. One day, a mysterious stranger visits Alexander's stronghold with a proposition to help him reclaim his former glory. Alexander takes this opportunity to recount his scandalous life story, starting from his early days of rebellion against the king alongside his father. Despite earning the permanent scorn of the crown prince, Alexander's father eventually claims the throne and rewards him with riches and responsibilities far beyond his station. This audio performance details Alexander's complicated relationships with his mistress Mary, the mother of his children, and his devious political dealings that won him the hand of the Countess of Ross and nearly half a kingdom. But eventually, his unquenchable ambition and lack of restraint catch up with him, and he loses everything. The question remains: Will the stranger's proposition be Alexander's salvation or his undoing? Follow this gripping and gritty historical drama as Alexander dances with destiny to seize power in 14th-century Scotland. About Stories From The Grey Hill Podcast: Is a podcast supporting and showcasing new Audio Theatre writing. Michael Houlihan and Bonnie Harvey are the Founders of Barefoot, now the world's largest wine brand. Since their successful acquisition by E&J Gallo, they have dedicated their lives to helping other entrepreneurs with the lessons they learned in the process. They are popular keynote speakers, writers, teachers, and regular media guests on the subject of entrepreneurship and business culture including several previous interviews on Critical Mass. Over the past year, Michael and Bonnie have spoken at Oxford, Cambridge, Nanyang University in Singapore, and Keynoted at several events including the Antrepreneurial Center at UCI.    They adopted their New York Times bestseller, The Barefoot Spirit, into a theatrically performed audioplay that was recognized as a 2020 Business Audie Award Finalist by the Audiobook Publisher's Association. That success gave rise to their new project, Business Audio Theatre where they dramatize founder's startup stories in an effort to preserve their legacy and attract, retain, and engage their people. Their Hollywood audio productions are reminiscent of pre-television 1940s radio dramas, complete with actors voicing parts in seminal scenes that demonstrate business principles, complete with sound effects and music. Their most recent production, The Brain Savers, How a Scrappy Startup Transformed Telemedicine and Patient Care chronicles the entrepreneurial journey of Dr Colin McDonald as he and his team overcome financial, technical, and legal obstacles to create a pioneer, interstate, telemedicine company in the early 2000s. Michael and Bonnie created Business Audio Theatre to address the increasing trend in resignations and lack of engagement. They believe that entertaining and gripping stories help listeners identify with the founder's principles and pull for their success.   Michael and Bonnie live in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County California, and host corporate retreats at their wine country estate. -- Critical Mass Business Talk Show is Orange County, CA's longest-running business talk show, focused on offering value and insight to middle-market business leaders in the OC and beyond.
