Show Notes: https://wetflyswing.com/786 Presented By: Fish The Fly, Stonefly Nets, On DeMark Lodge, Visit Idaho. BoneFishing in Hawaii might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of saltwater adventures, but for Marine veteran Mike Bressler, it's become both a calling and a way of life. In this episode, we head to the island of Oahu to uncover what makes Hawaii's flats fishery so unique—and so challenging. From bonefish (known locally as ō‘io) to golden trevally, Mike shares what it's like to guide in one of the Pacific's toughest but most rewarding destinations. Whether you're planning a DIY trip or dreaming of landing a 10+ pound bone, his insights are packed with practical value. We talk about everything from how to master casting in Hawaii's relentless trade winds to how moon phases affect bonefish behavior. Mike also opens up about building his homegrown “Bone Lodge” for guests, the cultural realities of fishing in local waters, and why he takes veterans out monthly for healing on the flats. This episode is more than a fishing guide—it's about patience, local respect, and finding purpose through saltwater fly fishing. Notes with Mike Bressler on Bonefishing Hawaii 2:03 - Mike Bressler explains that while bonefish are active year-round in Hawaii, spring and summer bring peak action. The largest fish stay on the flats during the winter spawning season, starting around November's full moon. Still, Hawaii is a tough fishery—constant trade winds and challenging conditions make it a true test for any angler. As Mike puts it, “If you can get good out here, you can be good anywhere.” 3:15 - Mike Bressler is based on the island of Oahu, Hawaii's most visited island, known for its iconic Waikiki, but also home to quieter country towns like Hau‘ula, where Mike lives. He explains that bonefish—locally called ‘ō‘io (pronounced "oyo")—can be found all around the island, from beaches to flats. While flats fishing is preferred, Mike notes he has even spotted bonefish from the shoreline. In addition to bonefish, the waters also host various trevally species, including bluefin, golden, and the rare giant trevally, though bonefish remain the main attraction for visiting anglers. Click here for more information. 5:46 - Retired Marine Mike Bressler discovered Oahu's bonefish flats during a COVID quarantine on Ford Island. Now based in Hauʻula, he guides anglers year-round, with peak season from October to December. Windy conditions and remote flats make boat access and strong casting skills essential. 09:06 - Mike Bressler emphasizes that handling Hawaii's wind starts with mastering the double haul and sidearm cast. He recommends aiming for at least a 40-foot cast under the wind and leading the bonefish, not landing the fly on their head. Sometimes, a short flip of the fly is all that's needed, as long as it's placed ahead of the fish's path. 9:49 - Mike Bressler explains that Hawaii's largest bonefish are most active from October to December, as they begin their deep-water spawning cycle around full moons. He advises avoiding fishing three days before and after a full moon since fewer fish are found on the flats during that time. 12:29 - Mike Bressler and his wife host guests at their private rental, the Bone Lodge, a freestanding Airbnb-style unit that comfortably accommodates couples, small families, or fishing buddies. He offers customizable half-day and full-day guided trips, often using his 18-foot Kayo Boatworks skiff—weather permitting—to pole clients across the flats in search of bonefish. Click here to learn more. 16:36 - Mike Bressler explains that while fall offers peak conditions, big bonefish are still catchable in May. These “home guard” fish are older, resident fish that tend to stay shallow and fight with brute weight rather than long runs. Hawaii's bonefish can reach impressive sizes—Mike has landed 12-pounders and knows of fish near 14, with the state record sitting at 15.7 lbs on conventional tackle. He also notes rumors of even larger bonefish—up to 20 pounds—coming from remote areas like New Caledonia. 18:17 - Mike Bressler shares that while bonefish populations are improving globally, Hawaii faces unique conservation challenges. Bonefish are considered a local delicacy, and with no regulations against harvesting them, locals often use nets or hook-and-line to catch them. Although enforcement is limited due to resource constraints, Mike hopes increased awareness will lead to better stewardship of the fishery. 20:51 - Mike Bressler starts most guided trips around 6:30–7:00 AM, timing for sunlight to spot fish while walking the flats and watching for signs of life like turtles or goatfish that indicate bonefish are nearby. Rather than tailing fish, anglers are taught to look for “Heineken backs”—a green shimmer just under the surface as bonefish move in with the incoming tide to feed. 24:31 - Mike Bressler shares that many first-time anglers struggle to spot bonefish, as their green shimmer is often mistaken for similarly colored reef fish. He recommends multi-day trips to learn proper sight-fishing technique—walking slowly, pausing often, and watching for subtle signs like nervous water, much like stalking prey in a hunt. 26:40 - Mike Bressler explains that while guiding, he positions himself based on the angler's casting hand and wind direction, often spotting bonefish 10 to 50 feet—or even 50 yards—away. He coaches clients to observe the fish's movement like a grazing animal, place the cast ahead of it, and use a slow strip to trigger a bite, reminding them never to trout set, but to keep stripping steadily for a clean hookup. 29:16 - Mike Bressler explains that a trout set often pulls the fly out of a bonefish's mouth, while a strip set keeps the fly in the zone, allowing the fish to hook itself through steady tension. He adds that Papio, or juvenile trevally, sometimes rush in and steal the fly mid-strip, earning their nickname as “thieves” on the flats. 31:24 - Mike Bressler shares that while bonefish are the main target, golden trevally are considered the “unicorn” of Hawaiian flats—rare, elusive, and highly prized. Unlike their aggressive GT cousins, golden trevally feed on crabs, mantis shrimp, and baby octopus, making them a challenging and exciting catch that can grow to over 15 pounds. 32:53 - Mike Bressler emphasizes using a slow, smooth two-foot strip to keep the fly close to the bottom, imitating natural prey like crabs and mantis shrimp. He teaches anglers to let the fly sink fully, clear slack for direct connection, and make gentle, quiet adjustments—since bonefish, like snipers, will spook if prey behaves unnaturally or the line is moved too aggressively. 37:00 - Mike Bressler prefers a 12–14-foot leader built from 40-30-20 pound sections, finishing with a Rapala loop knot and adjusting to 16-pound tippet on calm days to reduce visibility. For gear, he recommends a 9-foot 8-weight rod paired with a sealed drag reel, 150 yards of backing, and Cortland's Redfish Tropical fly line, which he trusts for its durability against coral-heavy flats. 39:46 - Mike Bressler prefers natural, flash-free flies for Hawaii's bonefish, favoring subtle patterns like his variation of the “Spam and Eggs” fly, heavier Crazy Charlies, and shrimp-style flies made from materials like Arctic fox, raccoon, and EP fibers. He believes the key to success is imitating local prey like mantis shrimp and crabs, which have no reflective qualities, reinforcing his philosophy that “less is more” when it comes to fly materials. Watch this for more information. 43:08 - Mike Bressler shares that the most effective fly colors for Hawaiian bonefish are browns, tans, blacks, and occasionally a translucent orange, matching the natural hues of local mantis shrimp on the flats. While some mantis shrimp in other regions show vibrant rainbow-like colors, Mike notes that the shrimp in Hawaii's flats are smaller, subtler, and adapted to their muted, sandy environment, reinforcing the importance of natural tones when fly tying. 44:59 - Mike Bressler advises that while Oahu is ideal for DIY bonefishing with walkable flats and public shoreline access, islands like Moloka‘i should be approached cautiously due to cultural sensitivities—locals may challenge visitors fishing near their homes. For Maui or Kaua‘i, DIY anglers should use satellite imagery to identify promising flats and focus on incoming tides, which provide better access and more time on the water without needing a boat. Enjoy a breathtaking view of Moloka‘i. 48:35 - Mike Bressler notes that while bonefish are present on the Big Island, it's the one place in Hawaii he hasn't personally landed one, and he primarily guides out of Oahu, where conditions and access are more reliable. He encourages anglers to book at least a half-day with a guide—not just for learning spots, but to understand the local waters, tides, and fishery culture—emphasizing that for him, guiding is a passion rather than a livelihood, unlike many full-time guides who depend on it to make ends meet. 51:21 - Mike Bressler highlights a major step forward in Hawaiian conservation with the new non-resident fishing license requirement, which began in April and helps fund efforts like coral restoration through DLNR. While no major bonefish-specific conservation group currently operates in Hawaii, Mike stresses the importance of ethical fish handling, reef awareness, and hopes for future support from organizations like Bonefish & Tarpon Trust to expand research and protection efforts in the islands. Get more information here. 55:04 - Mike Bressler reflects on the historical weight of living and guiding near Pearl Harbor, noting its deep connection to his 24 years of service in the Marine Corps. As part of giving back, he offers free monthly guided fly fishing trips to fellow veterans, believing strongly in the mental clarity and healing that comes from time on the water—something he says benefits anyone going through stress, not just those who've served. 59:20 - As the episode wraps up, Mike Bressler offers heartfelt encouragement to new and seasoned anglers alike, reminding them that the real reward in Hawaii isn't just the bonefish but the experience of being on the water in such a stunning place. He expresses support for Project Healing Waters, offers to help veterans get out and fish, and leaves listeners with a simple message: come out, enjoy the island, and if you catch a fish, that's just the bonus. You can find Mike Bressler on Instagram and visit their Website here. Top 8 Bonefishing Tips from Hawaii Guide Mike Bressler 1. Hawaii's constant trade winds make it essential to learn the double haul and sidearm casting techniques to effectively reach bonefish in tough conditions. 2. Approach the flats like a hunter—move slowly, pause often, and avoid sudden steps that could alert fish via vibrations in the water. 3. Bonefish in Hawaii often appear as a glowing green shape, like a Heineken bottle, moving through the water. Training your eyes to spot them is key. 4. Mike recommends fly patterns with no flash, using natural materials like Arctic fox, raccoon, and EP fibers to mimic mantis shrimp and crabs. 5. Strip Set—Never Trout Set. When a bonefish eats, maintain a steady, long strip to hook the fish. Lifting the rod (a trout set) often pulls the fly right out of their mouth. 6. Mike's go-to leader build includes 40-30-20 pound sections, prioritizing strength to manage coral-heavy flats and powerful runs from big fish. Bonefishing Hawaii Videos Noted in the Show Conclusion with Mike Bressler on Bonefishing Hawaii Mike Bressler's journey is more than one of saltwater success—it's about service, purpose, and patience on the flats. Movie Synopsis: On Halloween a free-spirited nurse become possessed with the blood lust of a brutal serial killer who only kills people who deserve it.I had the pleasure of sitting down with Jewel to get to know more about her character in the upcoming movie “Blue Murder” which does not have an official release date yet. However, she did take the time to explain to me (in her own words) how her character is a lot like her in real life and how it's portrayed differently. Jewel also believes that this movie will give audiences what it needs in terms of a breath of fresh air and augment the independent horror community. I for one am looking forward to seeing this movie on the big screen. Overall, wonderful interview… Getting to know Jewel more on a personal level has led me to believe that she has delivered this role flawlessly and I cannot wait to see her on the big screen slaying it!

This episode is a recording of a May 3rd 2023 APN webinar with Dr. Shikma Bressler, one of the chief leaders of Israel's protest movement.
Welcome to the Evolvepreneur (After Hours) Show I am your Special Host Mechelle McDonald Join me today where we dig deep with our guests and get you the best concepts and strategies to fast-track your business. My very special guest today is Wally Bressler ... Wally Bressler hit rock bottom and ended up in federal prison. He was honest enough to own up to the pain and lack of self-acceptance that got him there, and this was ultimately his path to freedom and happiness. In this episode, Wally teaches how to eliminate the victim mentality, which he describes as the root of our suffering. Stick around as Wally shares an exercise to help you pull up the roots of any unhappiness – with just a single note card. Here are some power takeaways from today's conversation: What is radical acceptance? The importance of being transparent with yourself The four quadrants of the Johari window Isolation versus common humanity How to get feedback from others Finding gratitude in recovery The power of unconditional love [03:27] What is Radical Acceptance? You may have made a lot of decisions you're not proud of, and as you go through those moments where you're experiencing pain, at some point, you'll have to accept it and take responsibility for it. You have to be willing enough to be transparent with yourself and other people. You've got to be willing enough to be transparent with yourself, and as you accept your feelings, and they become apparent, you can then start working on them. [21:28] The Power of Self-Compassion Self-compassion means giving yourself the same compassion you would offer to somebody else. In Kristin Neff's book, Self-Compassion, she cites the three elements of self-compassion, one of them is common humanity. The reason we isolate ourselves is because of shame. But once you learn to engage in common humanity and you start talking to people who have gone through what you've gone through, with similar emotions of shame and guilt, that can be so freeing. Then you realize you're not the only one going through that. [29:44] The Power of Unconditional Love The reason that unconditional love is the highest form of happiness and peace is that it's rooted in acceptance. Unconditional love means you accept somebody exactly as they are where they're staying with nothing to change. If you don't accept somebody for who they are, then there's no reason to keep them in your life. But if you're going to have a happy, peaceful, loving relationship with yourself and somebody else, and you want to get unconditional love, that means you accept all their goodness and faults. Notable quotes: [03:39] Where a lot of that pain comes from... is not accepting it and not owning it. [03:45] [21:28] Self-compassion is basically you giving yourself the same compassion you would offer to somebody else. [21:33] [29:44] The reason that unconditional love is the highest form of happiness and peace is… it's rooted in acceptance. Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 15-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world, from Sunday through Thursday. Political correspondent Tal Schneider and Knesset correspondent Carrie Keller-Lynn join host Amanda Borschel-Dan in today's episode. Early Thursday morning, the Knesset passed into law a bill that would protect Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from a potential future court order to recuse himself, in a final vote of 61 Knesset members in favor and 47 against. Keller-Lynn sets the scene. Earlier this week, the Knesset passed a repeal of part of the 2005 Disengagement Law. Schneider discusses the blowback from the United States and Israel's Abraham Accord partners ahead of tonight's start of Ramadan. Keller-Lynn reported yesterday that a "grinning" Minister Itamar Ben Gvir was enveloped by 20 opposition members when he stepped down from the podium in “a chaotic spectacle even by the Knesset's often indecorous standards.” What was so objectionable about his speech? We hear about the many bills that are on deck for next week, including judicial overhaul legislation -- and initial discussions on the budget. And finally, we hear about Schneider's interview with one of the grassroots protest leaders, Shikma Bressler that she wrote for our Hebrew sister site Zman Yisrael. Shortly after recording today's Daily Briefing episode, Bressler was detained by police while protesting on Israel's Route 4 highway. (To hear more about -- and from -- internationally recognized physicist Bressler, check out this week's What Matters Now podcast, which is released every Friday.) Discussed articles include: Knesset passes law shielding Netanyahu from court-ordered recusal 61-47 Israeli envoy called to US State Department in protest of Disengagement Law's repeal PM's failure to secure calm on home front hastens inevitable breakdown in US ties MKs confront Ben Gvir with cries of ‘shame' as bill to monitor abusers voted down Anti-overhaul protesters block roads, rally at MKs' homes in ‘day of paralysis' Knesset panel to resume vote on reservations to judicial appointments bill on Sunday Subscribe to The Times of Israel Daily Briefing on iTunes, Spotify, PlayerFM, Google Play, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome to What Matters Now, a new weekly podcast exploration into one key issue shaping Israel and the Jewish World — right now. On Thursday, Israelis watched as Shikma Bressler, a world-renowned physicist, was arrested during the nationwide “Day of Paralysis,” a day of ramped-up civil protests against the government's judicial overhaul. Bressler, who is also one of the top leaders of the grassroots protests against the widespread changes to the judiciary, was dragged toward a police car as bystanders shouted, "shame, shame, shame." Following Bressler's short detainment, social media lit up with the news and, among other responses, Labor leader MK Merav Michaeli tweeted, “In a normal country Shikma Bressler would be given the Israel Prize.” I met with Bressler, 42, at her Weizman Institute office in Rehovot on Wednesday this week to hear how the scientist, a co-founder of the Black Flags protest movement and head of a collaborative project with CERN, originally activated her activist gene. We hear what she sees as the next steps in stepping up civil disobedience, even as she believes we're already in a form of a civil war. With her mild, almost professorial manner, she explained that Israel is quickly nearing the point of no return. That things are much worse than most international observers can imagine. During our lengthy conversation, Bressler also laughingly told me that three years ago in her initial protests against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, she coined the chant “De-mo-crat-ya.” This week, we ask Dr. Shikma Bressler, What Matters Now? Legal scholar Alan Dershowitz has been a friend and adviser to Prime Minister Benjamin for decades. But when it comes to Netanyahu's plan to significantly weaken the Israeli Supreme Court, Dershowitz has a sharp warning for the prime minister. The move would be a “terrible mistake” and Netanyahu is “wrong” to push it through, Dershowitz tells hosts Amir Tibon and Allison Kaplan Sommer on Haaretz Weekly. Dershowitz warns that an ‘override clause' giving the government the power to cancel Supreme Court decisions that protect human rights would be extremely harmful to Israel, and that giving politicians ultimate control over judicial appointments is just as bad, even if some Israelis point to the United States (“why copy from us something that's been a disaster over here?”). Later on the podcast, starting at time code 18:25, we hear from Dr. Shikma Bressler – a physicist and one of the leaders of the protest movement against Netanyahu's judicial overhaul. Bressler, who was also involved in the demonstrations that brought down Netanyahu's previous government, explains why this time, just protesting in the streets won't be enough. “We have to be a lot more creative, and much more aggressive,” she says.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The pressure on trial lawyers, judges, plaintiffs, defendants, and court systems is only increasing. Take New Jersey as an example, where the backlog of cases nearly quadrupled in a year between February 2020 and 2021, the first year of the pandemic, according to NJ Spotlight News (NJSN). The state is also facing a historic shortage of jurists, “leading to overworked judges, huge case backlogs and nearly 7,000 defendants in jail without bail, some 500 of them for more than two years despite a law that essentially requires a trial within two years for anyone detained,” NJSN reported. One court official told the state Assembly Budget Committee about the impact the pandemic had on the court system. “Buildings were closed to most in-person trials for more than a year, although other proceedings continued virtually. The business closures and high unemployment led to a housing crisis that resulted in more than 46,000 pending cases that involve landlord-tenant issues,” NJSN reported. “But with all courts open and staff back to work in person, it is impossible to eliminate the backlog of cases with so many open judge seats.” The problem is attributed to the state Senate, where the process is mired, even though the governor is making appointments.According to the National Counsel for State Courts, backlogs at one third of U.S. courts increased by 5%. It would have been worse had courts not held virtual hearings. Using the Court Statistic Project database, the numbers reveal in stark terms the impact the pandemic had in the year it came to America. Dispositions dropped from 43M in 2019 to 28M in 2020. Bench trials fell from 3M in 2019 to under 2M in 2020. Jury trials plummeted from 49K in 2019 to less than 19K in 2020. The Washington Post reported that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court declared a judicial emergency and extended deadlines. Virginia's Supreme Court suspended nonessential proceedings. The Iowa Supreme Court pushed back criminal trials and the Alabama's Supreme Court suspended in-person proceedings. New Jersey Supreme Court Chief Justice Stuart Rabner warned that the judicial shortage “comes with a price.” Listen to my interview with Diana C. Manning, Managing Principal, Bressler, Amery & Ross, P.C., for the fallout from the judicial shortage and swelling case backlogs, and what needs to be done to dig out. Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: The deathprint of replacing beef by chicken and insect meat, published by Stijn on November 30, 2022 on The Effective Altruism Forum. Animal-based meat production is a large contributor to climate change. Especially beef has a high a carbon footprint, measured in terms of kilogram CO2-equivalents per kilogram of meat. Switching from beef to chicken meat or insect meat lowers greenhouse gas emissions and hence decreases future climate change damages. But chicken meat has a much higher moral footprint (Saja, 2013) or welfare footprint (welfarefootprint.org) than beef. Chickens experience more intense suffering and more hours of suffering for one kilogram of meat, compared to beef cows. This article shows that the increase in moral footprint when switching from beef to chicken meat or insect meat is likely to be worse than the decrease in carbon footprint. To compare these footprint changes, all the footprints are expressed in terms of the deathprint: the number of humans dying prematurely from climate change and the number of animals killed (slaughtered) in animal farming, for the production of one unit of meat. The deathprint of climate change A recent study (Bressler, 2021) estimated the net number of humans dying prematurely from temperature changes (especially heat waves) due to climate change, before the year 2100. An extra emission of 4000 ton CO2, emitted today, results in one extra human death due to climate change, in the business as usual scenario where everyone else does not take measures to reduce their emissions. Hence, 0,00000025 humans will be killed this century by emitting one extra kilogram of CO2. I use this number of deaths for the calculations below, although this number is both an underestimation and overestimation of the total human deaths due to climate change. It is an underestimation, because it does not include deaths from e.g. famines, wars, infectious diseases, floods and other risks that are increased by climate change. On the other hand, this number is an overestimation in the sense that climate change adaptation measures and CO2 emission reduction measures are likely to be taken. If poor countries develop and become richer, people in those countries can take more adaptive measures such as installing air conditioning, which lowers the mortality rate from extreme temperatures. And if global CO2 emissions are reduced, the impact of an extra unit of CO2 emissions (i.e. the marginal mortality rate) reduces as well (due to the non-linear relationship between amount of CO2 in the atmosphere and climate damages).[i] The deathprint of meat The table below shows the amount of meat produced by one animal, and the carbon footprints of meat products. These footprints measure the greenhouse gas emissions, in terms of CO2-equivalents, including all life cycle emissions as well as land use change emissions from e.g. deforestation, for the production of one kilogram of meat. The values of beef, pork and chicken are taken from Pieper e.a. (2020), which applies to Germany. The carbon footprint of insect meat is assumed to be lower than the footprint of chicken meat but slightly higher than the footprint of plant-based protein. The chosen value is a preliminary estimate of cricket meat, taken from Blonk e.a. (2008). It requires roughly 10.000 crickets for the production of one kilogram of cricket protein powder. kg meat per animal consumedanimals killed per kg meatkg CO2 per kg meatbeefporkchicken meatinsect meat 300 0,003 37 100 0,010 10 1,5 0,667 16 0,0001 10.000 2 With these values, we can calculate the human and animal deathprints of meat, i.e. how many humans will die from climate change and how many animals are killed (slaughtered) for the production of one kilogram of meat. What are your targets for Q4 and entering 2023? In today's episode of the coach code podcast, John and Wally share powerful insights on important things that impact the remaining months of the year with the right mindset, focus, and action plan. You'll learn several strategies for doing negotiations effectively as Wally provides techniques that can help you close deals smoothly. This includes asking the right questions when dealing with objections and putting in the effort. In today's market, putting effort is one of the key elements that will help breed skills. You have to have the mindset that outworks everyone in your field. This will help you to accelerate your business goals. Wally firmly believes that in all the effort that you're doing, there is a code to doing business with the people in the marketplace. You have to establish yourself as an expert in the field and have a deep understanding of everything to be able to add value to the people you are dealing with. John emphasizes visibility. The struggle of agents currently is not being clear with their numbers, targets, and metrics that are crucial in how to handle your business like a business. As a leader or agent, you have to know where you need to improve, and this only works if you track your numbers. You'll go back to the things that work and don't work. Giving you transparency and clarity on where you are right now in business and in life. John and Wally give out their strategy for being in the right headspace, keeping their stress level low, and being able to focus and have the right mindset. You'll get an amazing perspective on activities that will help, such as mindful meditation, journaling, and affirmations. This will help your brain be intentional in whatever you're doing at the present moment. Don't forget to check out Wally's book which talks about being at rock bottom and how he was able to transform his business and life! Show Notes 1:08 John Received an EXP Award John Kitchens received an EXP award from the Success Summit for his appearance in Times Square. 2:36 Traditional Negotiation Strategy Wally shares a story about a documentary of a negotiator who worked for the NY Police, FBI, and US Government overseas. He talked about traditional strategies that you can use to negotiate your Real Estate deals. 5:07 Code To Doing Business Wally shares his insight about the things we need to consider as we close into the last quarter of the year and move on to 2023. You have to take into consideration of your strategy by doing the right things in the right order. He firmly believes that there's a code to doing business with people in the market. You have to establish yourself as an expert in the field and have a deep understanding of everything about the market to be able to give good advice to people. 7:58 Qualified and Ready Start going deep into conversations that you have with your clients. This helps you understand their goals and ensure that you are compatible with them. 8:16 Ask Questions When dealing with objections, always ask questions. You've got to do more than you did before getting where you want to be by asking the right questions. 13:48 Visibility There are real estate agents who are not clear with their metrics, targets, and numbers. Visibility is one of the most important things in business. Wally shares his strategy for having clarity in implementing plans that provide visibility in his business. 17:08 Know Where You Need Improvement Having people track their numbers will give you insight not only into the things that are achieved but also into what's working and not working. This gives you transparency on every aspect of your business. 21:34 Put In The Effort John and Wally talk about how effort is one of the key components in today's market. Are you putting in the effort? Are you meeting the standard? Have a mindset that outworks everyone in your industry by putting in the effort. In the words of Wally, he said that effort breeds skills. 27:48 Leading To Conversations You have to choose the activities that work. Be intentional in what you're doing, and with the help of marketing and branding, this can lead your business to grow. Always ask yourself as an agent if the activity you're doing will drive you to a conversation with your client. 31:56 What Chapter Are You On? Your brain will work according to how you set them daily. 42:50 About Wally's Book Wally opens up about his book being relatable to people who have been in the same situation as him.
