This is everything we learned from FPL this gameweek, and my early Team Selection and transfers for GW35 of Fantasy Premier League 2024/25!
Excerpted from last gameweek's episode description: “We certainly hope that Double Gameweek 33, possibly the largest double gameweek of the season, ushers in more shout-outs than whisper-ins next week.” Update: that did not happen. Double Gameweek 33 was underwhelming, to say the least: the only attacking return from my entire attacking 7 came in the 83rd minute of the last game of gameweek, and Jakub Kiwior singlehandedly outscored my entire Bench Boost. It seems like every episode, our mantra is to keep looking ahead, and look ahead we shall do! Most FPL managers will be activating their Free Hit, so we take the bulk of this episode to logically work through the ideal Free Hit draft. There does appear to be a strong template, but nonetheless, there certainly are opportunities for mavericks to think outside the box (anyone fancy a Sessegnon-Robinson double-up?). Finally, in the Captaincy segment, we put on our divination hats—a voice in Jacob's head calls out to him, "16, 13, … 6?" What could it possibly mean?
We're through the first 10 matches of Double Gameweek 33 and the points have been hard to come by so far, as popular players experience quiet weeks
Suj and James discuss the 10 games played so far in Double Gameweek 33 where despite ther teams doubling scoring twelve and conceding only once it felt like the majority of FPL managers missed those who hauled. There's a heavy focus on looking ahead with the Blank Gameweek next, with advice for those on Free Hit, those buying to keep and hold and which assets should be sacrificed who have just had doubles. Captaincy is covered with a clear stand out (spoiler: it won't surprise), and there's particular focus on Fulham, Newcastle and Wolves assets as they get set to face the bottom three. All the games covered with thoughts on Pep's latest tactical tweak as Man City left it late against Everton, how rampant Aston Villa saw off Newcastle and there was important victories too for Brentford and Forest in their bid to reach Europe; and both of those clubs will featuring heavily in the minds of Fantasy managers in the weeks to come, despite them meeting each other next. This is my final FPL team thoughts and answering all your questions for Fantasy Premier League 2024/25. Discussing the Double Gameweek and my Gameweek 33 team with Bench Boost active!
The Double Gameweek fun continues with four teams playing twice and big points on offer for excited managers

The UCL fixtures are concluded and we have doubles for Arsenal, Villa, Palace and Man City! KDB is tempting us, who do we captain and which Arsenal/Villa players are safe from rotation? We discuss all of these and more in the Double Gameweek 33 FPL pod ━━━━━━━━━━━━━
On the first of two Clash of the Correspondents this week James is joined by Ipswich Town fan Paul Gaught-Allen and Arsenal fan Adam Pritchard to discuss the latest at their clubs ahead of Sunday's Double Gameweek 33 meeting at Portman Road. Arsenal assets will be popular this week for FPL managers, they are faced with arguably the most attractive fixtures in the Gameweek, but with the Champions League now clearly the priority with the Premier League title chase gone are they actually worth investing in? There's particular concern for those looking at long-term investment but also cautious warnings about the immediate Double, which those intending to go Mikel Arteta with the Assistant Manger Chip or/and Bulayo Saka with the captaincy should take particular note of. Should it be double defence or double attack for Free Hitters? There's discussion on all the important Arsenal FPL assets. Ipswich may not appeal for now, but they may well have the best final 4 fixtures, could the likes of Liam Delap appeal for late Wildcarders? And what are the prospects for 3.8 defender Ben Johnson, a scorer at Chelsea at the weekend, and playing on the right of midfield? And, there's discussion on The Gunners chances in the Champions League, what may happen to Ipswich next season and what can bridge the gap between The Championship and the Premier League. Most of the way through Double Gameweek 32 and it's been a quiet one for many managers using their chips as the big stars from teams with two fixtures struggled to perform
On James' live stream today plenty of thoughts on the upcoming Double in Gameweek 33 and which doublers to target, but with a strong message for those who have used their Wildcard to be careful if overlooking promising single gamweek players. Plus, there are repeated warnings about what may happen in Double Gameweek 36, there's discussion on Gameweek 34 targets, summer transfer chat, why it's not worked for Tottenham and Ange, plus plenty more. KEVIN DE BRUYNE! marco asensio. ANTOINE SEMENYO! chelsea fc. What's this, you ask? A textual demonstration of our latest innovation, of course: the shout-out and whisper-in mini-segment, which will now be embedded within the Gameweek Review. We certainly hope that Double Gameweek 33, possibly the largest double gameweek of the season, ushers in more shout-outs than whisper-ins next week. For the bulk of this episode, we try to parse through the best assets from Arsenal, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, and Manchester City. Though it seems like the obvious goal would be to triple up on both Arsenal and Man City, the more we talk about their players, the more uncertain we feel about them; we share a similar lack of enthusiasm when looking at Villa and Palace. Captaincy isn't clear-cut either, with all of the options giving us reason to question their candidacy. Is it time to captain a defender again? Or David Raya, anyone? How about a cheeky little Jakub Kiwior?

Last gameweek's average score, a measly 34 points, was the lowest one we've seen all season. Indeed, every single player more expensive than Jean-Philippe Mateta (£7.7m) blanked, and the savior of the gameweek was Jacob Murphy (£5.1m). Thankfully, there are exciting times ahead: Newcastle and Crystal Palace have upcoming double gameweeks, which means we'll be taking a deep dive into the best assets from those two teams (we also keep an eye out for the even bigger Double Gameweek 33 that's just around the corner). Given that Salah has one fixture while Isak has two, it seems like the armband might finally swing away from Salah, who yet again seems to be going through a slump in performance in the spring. Perhaps he should try his hand (or rather, try his leg) at a weak-leg Nordic hamstring curl? Mo—if you're listening, we here at the Fortress challenge you. Do you accept?
Ahead of Double Gameweek 32 James is joined by fans of the two doublers as Newcastle fan Simon Bibby and Crystal Palace fan Ruaidhri McLoughlin-Dowd guest on Clash of the Correspondents for detailed coverage on both clubs. There's coverage of key points on both teams, with deliberation on whether Alexander Isak should be Triple Captained for those still with the Chip, the fitness of Anthony Giordon, whether Harvey Barnes now offers a differential pick against the in-form Jacob Murphy and there's also coverage of Newcastle's back 4 and who would be best to pick up in FPL. There's discussion on Palace assets including coverage of the preference between Ismaila Sarr and Ebe Eze, the prospects for the popular Daniel Munoz and Jean-Phillipe Mateta, but what's the impact for The Eagles with Marc Guehi suspended for the first game at Manchester City? And how much could Palace rotate for their double double? Will anyone play all 4 games? Plus, there's chat on the Assistant Manager Chip chat, Newcastle's hopes for a Top 5 finish and the importance for Palace of their FA Cup semi final with Aston Villa. Tom & Sam preview the first of a pair of upcoming double gameweeks in FPL - the crowning glory of fantasy in most seasons. Chris Wood once again showed his incredible form this season with a hat-trick against Brighton, despite being a popular transfer out ahead of the Double Gameweek
A very different Clash of the Correspondents this week, as rather than discussing an upcoming fixture James is joined by Wolves fan Bradley Parker and Aston Villa fan Lee Jackson to discuss their clubs following Wolves' 2-0 victory against Villa at Molineux at the weekend. It was a big win for Wolves, particularly following defeats earlier in the day for Ipswich and Leicester; but for Villa it was another disappointing result after a Champions League games which dents their hopes of trying to qualify again foe Europe's top competition. There's also Fantasy discussion with Wolves looking at a brilliant fixture swing in the near future en route to Blank Gameweek 29 and Villa could have a Double Gameweek in the forthcoming Gameweek 25. There's discussion on defensive assets and the likes of Matheus Cunha, Morean Rogers and Ollie Watkins. And there's also coverage of a busy transfer window for both clubs which included Villa making some high profile signings such as Marcus Rashford and Wolves strengthening their backline. Suj and James review the weekend of Double Gameweek 24 that rewarded many that invested in doublers from Everton and Liverpool, which included those activating the Assistant Manager Chip on Arne Slot or David Moyes, but also those who held their nerve and activated the Triple Captaincy on Mohamed Salah who scored both in The Reds 2-0 victory at Bournemouth. Friday's announcement of at least one Double in Gameweek 25 has changed the landscape for FPL managers again and there's discussion on each of the 6 teams who could Double in 26 and the players that may well be sought under different permutations. But with the transfer window closing today and important Cup fixtures to be played before Gameweek 25 now is a good time for FPL managers to take stock and seek further information before acting. As usual all the games are reviewed, featuring Nottingham Forest's brilliant 7-0 victory against Brighton which included a Chris Wood hat-trick, Arsenal's humbling of Manchester City by five goals to one, and Tottenham not only won a game, but kept a clean sheet in the process too at Brentford.
