The final Double Gameweek of the season is almost over and there are lessons to learn ahead of the last two rounds of fixtures
James went and hid, Suj could barely watch. The debate will rage on and on about that West Ham disallowed goal yesterday, and it's debated here following a review of the opening 9 games in Double Gameweek 36. Cherki v Semenyo got an answer on Saturday; it was Doku! Haaland Triple Captainers have been rewarded and those with a Bench Boost may also have come out of the weekend well. Bournemouth truly have Champions League in their sights, Palace, Leeds and Forest are now officially safe too, leaving Suj and James' "donkey race" to survive. One and two week FPL punts discussed, but it's not easy finding attractive differentials and a City slip on Wednesday, with Arsenal nearly Champions, could make their assets unappealing for Gameweek 37 with their FA Cup Final against Chelsea on Saturday three days before their trip to Bournemouth who are now 16 unbeaten. DOUBLE GAMEWEEK!
The final Double Gameweek of the season is upon us and we've got all the key FPL relevant discussion from the Doublers as James is joined by Manchester City fan Jonny Pringle & Crystal Palace fan Ruaidhri McLaughlin-Dowd. Discussion includes, moving Antoine Semenyo to Rayan Cherki, differential Jeremy Doku, defensive alternatives to Nico O'Reilly and Erling Haaland for the armband. Whilst for Palace much of the discussion centres around expected minutes across the double for the likes of Maxence Lacroix, Daniel Munoz and Ismaila Sarr. But is there a scenario where it's City who rotate and not Palace!? Plus, discussion on the title race following City's draw at Everton and Palace's hopes in the Conference League. Bukayo Saka bagged a goal and an assist in a emphatic first-half performance as Arsenal stamped their title credentials.
A dramatic weekend in the Premier League reviewed with Suj and James as the race for the title and the battle to stay up took major twists and there are potentially big implications for Fantasy managers as a result. Arsenal won comfortably but Manchester City escaped from Everton with a draw giving Arsenal a big advantage in the race for the title. Win at West Ham and it looks to be theirs, but The Hammers will be desperate having fallen a point behind Tottenham in the race for 17th,. That race to stay up is now almost certainly a two-way battle as Tottenham deserved won against a woeful Aston Villa, whilst Leeds won and so to did Nottingham Forest despite fielding an under strength team against a Chelsea who did at least finally score but were again very bad. And Bournemouth now lead the way ahead of Brentford for 6th which could yet result in qualification for The Champions League. Eyes now are on Arsenal assets and also Manchester City and Crystal Palace ahead of the Double Gameweek. But James also has two other teams on mind for investment despite neither team winning this weekend and there is deliberation as to whether Palace should be invested in at all. And there is a big warning about the rotation headaches that may hit Fantasy managers hard, and not just this coming Gameweek. David and James discuss the 6 games from the Blank Gameweek where many template choices for Free Hitters underperformed, but others such as David Raya, Pedro Porro and Jarrod Bowen still meant it looked like a nightmare weekend for James. But Tottenham did finally win... but at what cost!? Xavi Simons have added to an already extensive injury list, and thought Tottenham won, so too did West Ham and Nottingham Forest tore Sunderland apart on Friday night. There were also wins for Arsenal and Liverpool who both had players depart through injury, and Fulham won too, which meant Aston Villa slipped to 5th, meaning 6th could yet equal Champions League qualification in the eventuality that Villa finished 5th and won the Europa League. So, there's still plenty to play for in GW35 for most teams. But there should perhaps be concern about Crystal Palace assets ahead of a Double Gameweek 36 announcement, captaincy looks a close call this coming weekend, and there's also discussion on teams who perhaps should be avoided defensively and why perhaps FPL managers might not rush to Arsenal assets this week in the way it may originally have been anticipated. The Double Gameweek delivered in style for FPL managers as many scored over 100 points, but now attention turns to Blank Gameweek 34
David joins James for a discussion on the four games that concluded Double Gameweek 33 as West Ham earned a point at Crystal Palace, Brighton cut a woeful Chelsea apart that led to the dismissal of Liam Rosenior, Bournemouth and Leeds shared four goals and Manchester City went top but only got the one through Erling Haaland at Turf Moor. There's discussion on what may happen with the yet to be arranged Manchester City and Crystal Palace fixture and a flavour of what David and James do on The Weekender with a look at Free Hit and Wildcard Drafts for the upcoming Blank Gameweek 34. Double Gameweek 33 was truly one for the ages, with both Jacob and Jiayang finishing on a whopping 124 points. The very teams that served us so well last week, however, have no fixtures this upcoming week, meaning most active managers will need to activate their Free Hit. Accordingly, we spend the bulk of this episode evaluating the best teams and players to target, in the hopes of building the best draft possible. Along the way, we foray into the virtues of one Glenn Murray, as well as the addictingly alliterative nature of names such as Pedro Porro—who we discover may actually be the sauciest player in the league?
The biggest Double Gameweek of the season has seen mixed results for FPL managers so far as popular picks returned while differentials didn't deliver as hoped
On the review of the Double Gameweek weekend it's been a good weekend for many engaged managers on bench boost and that includes Suj despite buying a player who didn't even show up at the weekend, whilst for those likes James who have gone against it's been a case of trying to survive. All the games reviewed including Manchester City's victory against Arsenal which leaves us with an exciting title run-in, Liverpool stole the Merseyside Derby late on, whilst there was also late heartbreak for Tottenham against Brighton and Chelsea's woes continued as they were beaten by Manchester United. Focus now turns away from those who doubled to those who didn't ahead of the Gameweek 34 Blank and there were a number of haulers with a single who may now be popular such as Ollie Watkins and Morgan Gibbs-White and the FPL teams who look strongest this coming week are likely to have a lot of red in them. Both have just had stunning away victories with The Cherries winning at The Emirates and Leeds last night recording a historic victory at Old Trafford. The Run In is officially here and it's time to cash in all those Chips for the upcoming Double Gameweeks
After the longest mid-season break the Premier League has ever experienced (a statement that has not been fact-checked but feels undeniably true), we are finally back to discuss best strategies for the run-in to Gameweek 38. Arsenal crashed out of the FA Cup, which means Wildcarding in preparation for what was supposed to be a juicy Bench Boost in Double Gameweek 33 is suddenly far less attractive—but we think Wildcarding this gameweek might still be the optimal move, given the ever-decreasing time left in the season. With six teams still doubling, we peruse the best options from each of them, ultimately arriving at a suggested Wildcard draft. Though the draft may look a little underwhelming at first glance, it's the best we've got—and the best is all we can ever strive for.
Join Pras and Mo in this special edition of FPL Early Thoughts, as they react to the Double Gameweek 33 announcement and take a look at the best fixtures according to Scout's Fixture Ticker.

The first Double Gameweek of the season proved an underwhelming experience for FPL managers as heavily-backed Arsenal drew both their fixtures
Following the weekend' FA Cup football and last night's 5th round draw Suj and James revaluate the outlook for Chip usage for the rest of the season, and though current projections remain unchanged there's lots that could change in the coming weeks and that may force many FPL managers to move away from the current template strategy. What will happen to the Manchester City v Crystal Palace fixture? Could Gameweek 33 be the only remaining Double Gameweek? Should Bench Boost be used now or held for later? It's all covered, including alternative 'out' chip strategies if at short notice Gameweek 32 would look bad for a Wildcard followed by a Gameweek 33 Bench Boost, why certain fixtrures could be forced into certain weeks, if non European teams could have postponements go into random weeks and more, including why the next big event that could alter the landscape is the scheded April TV selections...
