This is Thierry Henry as you rarely hear him - brutally honest, analytical and still completely obsessed with competition, winning and perfection at the highest level of football.Henry visits Rio at his Airbnb in LA and opens up on the mentality behind his legendary career, including the coach at Clairefontaine who completely changed his understanding of how he moved on the pitch and why he genuinely preferred creating goals over scoring them himself - even if people never believe him. There's some extraordinary insight into Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, with Henry explaining why Messi's work ethic is hugely underrated, how quickly he justified the total freedom given to him by manager Pep Guardiola and why football should stop trying to compare the two greatest players of their generation. He also shares brilliant stories around Messi's mentality, aura inside the dressing room and how he developed into a killer from set-pieces.The conversation dives into the modern game too, with Henry arguing football has become too robotic and explaining why players like Lamine Yamal, Michael Olise and Rayan Cherki stand out because they still take risks and play with freedom. There's also special praise for Cherki's dribbling ability whilst pointing out that if the Man City forward develops his mentality off the ball he could become unstoppable. There's huge praise too for Harry Kane, Julian Alvarez and Bruno Fernandes, with Henry defending Bruno's mentality before Henry also discusses France's World Cup chances, Ousmane Dembélé's evolution into a winning player and why England genuinely could have won the 2002 World Cup if they had beaten Brazil. Arsenal's Declan Rice, Gabriel, and David Raya have received nominations for the Professional Footballers' Association men's player of the year award, competing against Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes and Manchester City's Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki.Earlier this month, Fernandes, aged 31, was awarded the Football Writers' Association's men's footballer of the year award. This accolade frequently serves as a precursor to identifying the leading candidate for the PFA player of the year. The Portuguese midfielder achieved a remarkable total of 21 assists in the Premier League, contributing significantly to United's third-place finish.Midfielder Rice, defender Gabriel, and goalkeeper Raya were instrumental for Arsenal, who secured the Premier League title for the first time in 22 years. Striker Haaland netted 27 goals, earning the league's golden boot, while Cherki had a fruitful debut season in the Premier League. Last year, the award was claimed by former Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah, who scored 29 goals to aid the Reds in clinching the Premier League title. The winners will be celebrated on Tuesday, 25 August, during the 53rd annual PFA Awards Ceremony in Manchester.

James went and hid, Suj could barely watch. The debate will rage on and on about that West Ham disallowed goal yesterday, and it's debated here following a review of the opening 9 games in Double Gameweek 36. Cherki v Semenyo got an answer on Saturday; it was Doku! Haaland Triple Captainers have been rewarded and those with a Bench Boost may also have come out of the weekend well. Bournemouth truly have Champions League in their sights, Palace, Leeds and Forest are now officially safe too, leaving Suj and James' "donkey race" to survive. One and two week FPL punts discussed, but it's not easy finding attractive differentials and a City slip on Wednesday, with Arsenal nearly Champions, could make their assets unappealing for Gameweek 37 with their FA Cup Final against Chelsea on Saturday three days before their trip to Bournemouth who are now 16 unbeaten. This past gameweek, big things happened at both the top and bottom of the Premier League table, with Arsenal taking a massive step toward that elusive title and Tottenham pulling themselves out of the relegation zone. Is it time to similarly shake things up in our FPL teams? Ahead of the final double gameweek of the season, we revisit the question of how many Crystal Palace players to invest in, as well as whether moving Semenyo to Cherki would form the ideal Man City triple-up. Perhaps as exciting as the prospect of hauls from our Man City players is the opportunity to boot Cole Palmer from our teams, after Chelsea lost their sixth consecutive league game. Unable to look past Man City for captaincy this week, we end the episode by wondering if we'll have the courage to put the armband on Cherki—or even Nico O'Reilly—instead of Haaland.

Manchester City came out on top in their crucial top-of-the-table clash against Arsenal in the Premier League. Frank and Eddie were impressed by Haaland and Cherki, but just how lucky was Gabriel to avoid being sent off? Elsewhere in Europe, PSG suffered a surprise defeat that puts a bit of pressure on the reigning champions in Ligue 1, and Bayern Munich continued their record-breaking season in the Bundesliga. On the back of success, Eddie thinks that Harry Kane could be a Champions League win away from entering some very exclusive company. In the NFL, the New York Giants traded away star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, but Frank is happy with the move. And which NFL player is the best comparison to Noah Wyle?

The FA Cup semi finals are set as Man City storm to what looks like another domestic trophy, while Arsenal on the other hand seem to be feeling the pressure as the run in continues.Man City absolutely hammered Liverpool, with Cherki and Semenyo balling out of control and a hat trick from Haaland.Arsenal crashed out against Southampton 2-1 in yet another game that will have alarm bells ringing for Arsenal fans.Chelsea put Port Vale to the sword with 7 goals, but actually didn't look all that impressive. Behind the scenes, Liam Rosenior has had to put a stamp of authority on the team after Enzo Fernandes confirmed to the world that our Real Madrid theory is true.As Trump's posts get more deranged and the threats get more specific, every week the World Cup looks more and more like a non runner.Support the showWant to support us and also get some sweet bonus exclusive pods? Arsenal put one hand on the title after a commanding 2-0 win over Everton, and with City dropping points against West Ham, the gap just got very, very big. We dig into what makes this Arsenal side so hard to beat, whether Arteta will start experimenting tactically, and why the title race might actually be over. Then: the Player of the Year debate nobody is enjoying. Is it Haaland by default, or is there actually a case for Declan Rice? We also get into Aston Villa quietly throwing away their top-four spot, Manchester United's unexpected stability under Carrick, Liverpool's tactical identity crisis, Chelsea's chaotic pressing experiment, and what the Premier League's exhaustion problem looks like in Europe.
