A show looking at and reviewing all the gameweeks in the Premier League's Official Fantasy Football game. We review all the upcoming games, players, stats as wel as a wrap up show after each game week showing how well we did (or didn't!)
The Planet FPL - The Fantasy Football Podcast is an incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining podcast for fans of fantasy football and general football content. Hosted by James and Suj, this podcast covers a wide range of topics related to the Premier League and provides great insights into the game.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the wealth of knowledge that James brings to each episode. He is a master of the Premier League and his analysis of the Beautiful Game is second to none. His understanding of tactics and strategy is impressive, and he provides in-depth analysis without relying too heavily on stats. Additionally, Suj's understanding of the business side of football adds another layer to the podcast, making it informative and educational for listeners.
Another excellent aspect of this podcast is the chemistry between James and Suj. Their banter and interaction create a fun and engaging listening experience. They have a relaxed and conversational style that makes you feel like you're sitting down with friends discussing football. This dynamic adds an enjoyable element to each episode.
However, one downside to this podcast is that it may not be suitable for those who are not interested in fantasy football or general football content. While there are episodes that cover other topics such as homophobia in football or financial issues, the main focus is on fantasy football. If you're not interested in this aspect, you may find some episodes less engaging.
In conclusion, The Planet FPL - The Fantasy Football Podcast is an excellent podcast for fans of fantasy football and general football content. With their extensive knowledge, entertaining banter, and informative discussions, James and Suj provide a comprehensive listening experience that is both enjoyable and educational. Whether you're looking for FPL tips or want to dive deeper into football analysis, this podcast has something for everyone.
Another dramatic weekend for FPL reviewed which included Mo Salah leaving it late again and Erling Haaland dominating in the Manchester Derby. But perhaps the biggest takeaway this weekend was for defensive assets, with half the teams keeping clean sheets and there will have been a full house for many who invested in defensive assets on Wildcards and Free Hits. All the games reviewed, including how much we shouyld read into Ange Postecoglu's opener with Forest in defeat at Arsenal, how Brentford and Chelsea switched tactics in an entertaining London Derby thta included a comeback goal for Cole Palmer, and the points went James' way in the Planet FPL Derby as Tottenham won comfortably at Suj's West Ham... but he didn't have the better of it when it came to points in FPL this week. Can Haaland really be avoided in GW6? Can faith still be kept in Aston Villa and Ollie Watkins? Plus, captaincy options for GW5 and lots more. It's the Planet FPL derby this week and James is joined West Ham fan Chris Stone and Tottenham fan Ricky Saunders to discuss the latest at their clubs ahead of Saturday's meeting. And it's been a busy couple of weeks for both clubs off the pitch with the West Ham United Supporters Trust issuing a vote of no confidence in the board whilst after 24 years Daniel Levy is no longer Tottenham chairman. There's the fan view on both. And there's views on the pitch too, will West Ham stick with the back four that was successful at Nottingham Forest? And will Tottenham be better off without the ball as seen in games against PSG and Manchester City? But Xavi Simons may alter Tottenham's attacking quality, could he and fellow new man Randal Kolo Muani be options for Fantasy managers, or might there be better cheaper alternatives at West Ham in the midfield zone. Plus, Jarrod Bowen's form, if Aaron Wan-Bissaka will get his place back, best Tottenham defensive asset, thoughts on Ange Postecohlu taking over at Forest and we have a feeling that Mohammed Kudus 'might' get booed on Saturday. On Clash of the Correspondents it's a meeting between the Premier League's South Coast clubs as Bournemouth fan Neil Grover and Brighton fan Sam Murray join James for a chat on their clubs ahead of their GW4 encounter. Antoine Semenyo is already up to 7.4, should those who aren't there yet get on as soon as possible or might there be a bit opportunity from Bournemouth's opponents on Saturday? There's coverage on whether Georgino Rutter can lock down a starting spot and the wide players also look more secure for minutes than they have in the past. Key defensive assets are also covered, who might be on penalties, the integration of new additions and whether either club can make a sustained push for European qualification. A different vibe on The Weekender with David and James this week, as with little football played as we head into the season's first Interlull there's a deep dive into all the transfers completed since last Friday's recording and it was, as predicted, a bit mad. David brings data and knowledge on many of the new signings with additional comment from James on how they may fit in at their new clubs. And the Podcast kicks off with news on what will have been shocking for many yesterday as Daniel Levy is no longer the Chairman of Tottenham Hotspur. But did he stand down or was he pushed? And how does James feel about Levy, the news, and what might be next for his club. Plus, there a focus on the WSL's newest addition London City Lionesses and why they are looking to be more than just a team that battles to stay up? But might Dango Ouattara offer a better route into The Bess attack? Or should they be avoided with a tough schedule on the horizon? And what should we make of a potential return for Cole Palmer? On the first of four Clash of the Correspondents during the International break James is joined by Manchester City fan Jonny Pringle and Manchester United fan Alex Trembath to preview the Manchester Derby in GW4 and discuss concerns at both clubs... Following last week's embarrassing Carabao Cup elimination at the hands of four tier Grimsby Town, United manager Ruben Amorim has come under increased scrutiny again. Does Alex still have belief that he can turn it around? And is Pep Guardiola escaping similar scrutiny? City are below United in the table following defeats at Tottenham and Brighton and the manner of those defeats has caused alarm. Plus, there's discussion on the key FPL assets including Rayan Ait-Nouri, Erling Haaland, Bruno Fernandes and Bryan Mbeumo, whether the post GW1 hype around Tijani Reijnders was misguided, if Patrick Dorgu will earn his spot back in the United team and both teams may start The Derby at The Etihad with a new goalkeeprer. It's a crunch Clash of the Correspondents ahead of the meeting between last season's top two at Anfield on Sunday. James is joined by Liverpool fan Dan Lord and Arsenal fan Adam Pritchard to preview the games and discuss their openings to the season where both have started with two win from two. But for Champions Liverpool it's not been convincing with four goals shipped and late winners against Bournemouth and ten man Newcastle. Is there cause for genuine concern? Arsenal didn't convince either at Old Trafford in the opener, but won convincingly against Leeds. How confident are they of winning at Anfield with Bukayo Saka injured and ,Martin Odegaard possibly out too. Suj and James review another dramatic weekend for FPL managers, with more popular assets blanking and some others now injured. It means for many action needs to be taken, but there's a key reminder on this Podcast of one very big reason why patience may be the right play for many. All the games reviewed, which featured another humbling for West Ham where Joao Pedro went big, Tottenham putting in a professional display at Manchester City and earning a deserved victory, Arsenal got five against Leeds, there were important wins for Brentford and Burnley and Liverpool won at Newcastle last night in dramatic fashion. Transfer targets are a theme of the Podcast, particularly in the midfield area and there's a warning to consider the unknowns when thinking about many players of interest. On the return of Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by two of the promoted Correspondents, Burnley fan Jack Toner and Sunderland fan Spencer Barrowman ahead of a crucial meeting between the clubs at Turf Moor on Saturday. There's reflection on contrasting fortunes at the weekend, with the high of Sunderland's 3-0 win and the disappointment of defeat for Burnley at Tottenham, where despite playing well in spells, they were eventually well beaten. And they have some very tough fixtures to come after the weekend. With that in mind, have Burnley got to win already when considering their upcoming schedule and with the other two promoted teams having already won? Do they change system? And how might Sunderland approach this tactically? Gameweek 1 is nine tenths done and though there are some outstanding scores out there it has been a tough weekend for many FPL managers with a number of popular FPL assets blanking. All 9 games covered in detail and a theme from the weekend is a number of cheap midfield options performing well, and none have attracted more attention in the FPL Community than Manchester City's Tijani Reijnders, who is already up to 5.6 and likely to see continued investment. So was his dominant performance at Wolves a one-off or a sign of things to come? Antoine Semenyo and Hugo Ekitike are also early price risers following returns in an exciting Friday opener where there were mixed returns for FPL managers. Plus, players on radar for those on a Free Hit in GW2 feature not just Arsenal, Bournemouth and City assets, but those from Chelsea and Villa who blanked in 0-0 draws could be worth keeping ahead of respective trips to Brentford and West Ham who both conceded three on the road. So too, did Burnley, and there was more tactical variety on show from Thomas Frank's Tottenham who may well change system again at the weekend when they go to The Etihad. Suj and James discuss Chip Strategy with a detailed look at opportunities during the first half of the season to use the Wildcard, Free Hit, Bench Boost and Triple Captain Chips. There's a search for opportunities, caution offered for overplanning for the Bench Boost, circumstances that can make Free Hits appeal to some but not offers. How much weightage should be put into planning for a Bench Boost or should we just hope it falls into place? Two key Wildcard periods covered and there's coverage of an awareness of 'safe weeks' and danger weeks for Chip coverage. On the conclusion of Correspondent Week James is joined by Spencer Barrowman to discuss all things Sunderland ahead of their return to the Premier League and they have enablers available and attractive first three fixtures. Marc Guiu has joined from Chelsea and offers a legitimate 4.5 forward option for FPL managers, but is he the Sunderland attacker to start with? There's also 4.0 defensive options and a number of attractive midfield options. They're all covered in a get-to-know the squad theme that also includes discussion on manager Regis Le Bris, the ownership of the club and whether we can expect further signings. There's a reason we left this one until near the end... a week ago all seemed positive at Tottenham Hotspur, a win against rivals Arsenal, but a week on and James Maddison has picked up an ACL injury, others such as Destiny Udogie and Dominic Solanke, who were meant to be back still aren't, and last night Bayern Munich handed Thomas Frank's boys a bit if a football lesson. Ricky Saunders joins James to discuss what that means for Fantasy ahead of an enticing set of fixtures. Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero and Micky Van De Ven all still appeal at different price points and parts of the FPL community want one of Brennan Johnson or Mohammed Kudus. Sam Murray joins James as we head towards the conclusion of Correspondent Week and James is particularly keen to get more info on a number of potential Brighton assets, but will Sam deliver positive news? Bart Verbuggen and Maxim De Cuyper may appeal to those looking for defensive reinforcements, Danny Welbeck looks to be the clear first choice upfront and the attacking trio behind of Yankubah Minteh, Kaoru Mitoma and Georginio Rutter could all get attention ahead of the opener. But can Brighton be trusted after an inconsistent first season under Fabian Hurzeler? And can the assets be relied upon when there are so many options for selection? Arsenal finally have their out and out striker in Victor Gyokeres. Does Arsenal fan Adam Pritchard believe he'll hit the ground running for The Gunners? Perhaps, it will take a while to see the best of the Swedish forward and Arsenal have early changes to overcome with a daunting opening six fixtures. That means many are overlooking their assets at the start, but should they? There's assessment on the new signings, if we can expect Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard back at their best after last season's injury issues and there's of course coverage of the backline. And that GW2 fixture at home to Leeds shouldn't be forgotten, and may well influence some final choices for FPL managers. Lee Jackson joins James on the conclusion of Day 4 to discuss all things Aston Villa, and the recording comes hot after Morgan Rogers limped off only seven minutes into his appearance for Aston Villa last night. There's discussion on Villa with and without Rogers, and what it might mean for talisman Ollie Watkins ahead of the opener against Newcastle and a very appealing opening seven fixtures. Donyell Malen was catching the attention of the FPL community even before the Rogers injury scare, his prospects, the fellow 5.5 midfielders and the slightly more expensive Youri Tielemans are assessed. And Villa did start keeping clean sheets towards the end of the season. With those brilliant fixtures in mind is there a 4.5 gem to be considered? James has got the bleach ready after another difficult summer for Wolves with three key players leaving, yet despite some big concerns, even correspondent Bradley Parker has some interest in some Wolves assets. There are standouts, forward Jorgen Strand Larsen, new signing Jhon Arias and defender Emmnauel Agbadou standout but there are others worthy of consideration too. But FPL optimism is tempered by concern about general personnel with reinforcements needed to improve depth in some areas and a right wing-back is very much required. But will the owners spend? Sean Norton joins James to talk Everton assets ahead of the club's move into their new stadium, but is there concern with pre season performances questionable and new signings slow to come in? The addition to FPL of DEFCONs make Everton's centre-backs appeal? So should Fantasy managers consider James Tarkowski or Jarrod Branthwaite in favour of Jordan Pickford who has been the top scoring goalkeeper in FPL for the last two seasons? Jonny Pringle joins James for the opening Podcast on Day 4 of Correspondent Week to discuss all things Manchester City, including whether we should consider them as capable of getting back to their best. Erling Haaland is of course discussed, will Jonny start with him and take on Liverpool's Mo Salah? There's several head to heads within the City squad discussed including Eayan Ait-Nouri v Josko Gvardiol and Phil Foden v Omar Marmoush. The case is also made for consideration to the likes of Matheus Nunes, Tijani Reijnders and a hopefully, fully fit Rodri. But the opening fixtures aren't (in Jonny's words) a slam dunk, and unlikely many previous seasons, the squad has too many bodies. Meaning rotation is likely to be as big a headache as ever. Day 3 of Correspondent Week concludes with Gary Mantle joining James to talk all things Chelsea including all the summer incomings and outgoings. One of those who has arrived is Joao Pedro has starred at the Club World Cup, but many are bemused by his current 50%+ ownership in FPL, though Gary thinks that at 7.5 he may well be underpriced! He's not the only Blues asset with high ownership with Cole Palmer likely to be a lock for many FPL managers for GW1. There's also conversation on defensive assets including Robert Sanchez, Marc Cucurella and Levi Colwill, Alternative attacking assets such as Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez are debated and could Moises Caicedo be the standout 5.5? It's a Planet FPL debut for new Manchester United Correspondent Alex Trembath as we reach the lafway mark of Correspondent Week and despite their worst seasons in decades there is plenty to be optimistic about for The Red Devils this season. There's discussion on new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo and their FPL prospects, but is it worth a million more to pay for the security of having Bruno Fernandes? Amad Diallo shouldn't be discounted too, but what happens with United may depend much on their search for a new striker. They've had their defence ripped from them with Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen gone, and Ilia Zabarnyi set to follow, so how concerned should we be about Bournemouth ahead of their opening night trip to Anfield? Neil Grover joins James to discuss what may be a makeshidt backline that starts the season, but it doesn't mean there isn't reason for optimism. The attacking players have stayed and there's coverage of Antoine Semenyo, Justin Kluivert and Evanilson who are likely to attract particular interest for those Free Hitting in GW2. And despite the issues there are defensive assets and midfield enablers worth considering too. Next up on Correspondent Week James is joined by Fulham fan Lewis James to discuss The Cottagers and ask why everything feels so quiet on the transfer front and is it causing concern?
