Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, I'm joined by Lurch and Patreon member Bob Dawson. Bob has a 2021 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special. Unfortunately, Bob's bike experienced oil sumping. We talk about what Bob experienced as the issue presented itself, what he went through with the diagnosis of the problem, and what steps Harley went through to resolve the issue. This is an educational but fun episode. Grab your refreshment of choice and strap in! SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE Symptoms: You may get excessive oil blowback from the crank breathers inside your air intake. You may see excessive oil splattered along the right side of your bike while riding hard or long distances. Your air filter may become saturated with engine oil. You may feel your bike has slightly less powerful as it would on a normal hot day. But eventually, the oil in the crankcase builds to the point that the crank is sloshing through the oil as it gets deeper in the crankcase. Eventually, the crankcase fills leaving massive rotational resistance. Efforts to accelerate are met with no response. The engine simply can't rapidly change rotational speed because of the resistance. Engine failure comes from there being so much oil build up in the crankcase, that the pan is starved leaving no oil to be pumped to the top end. The engine also overheats just from all the resistance of too much oil in the crankcase. The engine begins to overheat and components such as bearings, lifters, and worse, begin to fail. The rider will never see an oil light which is quite disturbing and a significant design flaw. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Consequences: Oil sumping will result in excessive friction and power loss to your Harley M8 engine. Excess crankcase oil is whipped into a froth of air and oil by the flywheel. This condition is called oil aeration. Aerated oil makes scavenging much more difficult and can hinder the return of oil from the rocker box area. The combination of these conditions often results in oil being forced out the head breathers, air cleaner contamination, oil leaks, loss of oil supply, lifter clatter, premature component wear, and potential engine failure. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, I'm joined by Lurch and we give an update on the Law Abiding Biker Store We moved the Law Abiding Biker Store from Richland, WA to Union Gap, WA in June of 2023. Rick "Big Daddy Kane" and Brian "Goat" White ran the store successfully out of Richland for years. We can't thank them enough for their awesome work. The plan was always to bring the Law Abiding Biker store up to the Yakima, WA area. That plan came to fruition this year. We were fortunate enough to purchase a building in Union Gap, WA that is right on Main Street. It's a great location for several reasons; it's centrally located between my house and Lurch's house, it has quick freeway access, and it's near shipping companies. The address for the Law Abiding Biker Store is 3302 Main Street, Union Gap, WA 98903. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE The building had good bones but it was due for some much-needed love. We stripped out all the old technology and added up-to-date communications, security, and operations technology. We brought the electrical and plumbing up to date. The interior of the side occupied by the Law Abiding Biker Store was pained by Bob Dawson's Custom Painting. Bob is a long-time Patreon supporter of Law Abiding Biker. He did an outstanding job! Check him out if you're in the greater Yakima, WA area and need some painting done. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! The NHL likes to call Willie O'Ree the Jackie Robinson of hockey. And no one can deny how significant it was when he became the first Black player on the ice in an NHL game in 1958. But what the league doesn't like to talk about is what happened next. Because after O'Ree, the NHL didn't admit another black player for sixteen years. So did the NHL resegregate? Of the estimated 7000 people who have played in the NHL only around 100 of them have been Black. That's an absurdly low number compared to any other major North American sports league. But what makes that statistic especially shocking is the fact that the modern game has its roots with Black players on Black teams. The Coloured Hockey League wasn't just a sideshow to the main event of white hockey. And the way that league was targeted by the white establishment is reflective of the racism that Black players faced over the next century.Featured in this episode: Bob Dawson, Darril Fosty, George FostyTo learn more:Black Ice: The Lost History of the Colored Hockey League of the Maritimes, 1895-1925 Darril Fosty & George Fosty (Author)“1960s college hockey player recalls racism on the ice” by Bruce Deachman in The Ottawa Citizen“The all-Black league that invented hockey as we know it” by Jasper Hutson in DefectorCredits: Arshy Mann (Host and Producer), Jordan Cornish (Producer), Noor Azrieh (Producer), Annette Ejiofor (Managing Editor)Additional music from Audio NetworkSponsors: Canva, Douglas, Better Help, Slow BurnCanadaland is turning 10! The interviewees were clearly passionate about the work that they do, and it came through well on screen. Their extensive knowledge of the topics made it possible for the explanations on a very complicated subject very comprehensible for a lay(wo)man to understand, or at least understand well enough to appreciate the immensity of this mystery and what finding the ultimate answer could do to advance scientific knowledge. TriCoast Entertainment has released Wow Signal onto streaming platforms, including FlixFling, Vimeo on Demand, Amazon, iTunes, Google Play and more. The Mikes take a look at TriCoast Worldwide's new documentary Wow Signal, directed by Bob Dawson, in another episode of Forgotten Cinema: Now Showing. Mike Butler and Mike Field share their opinions on what they enjoyed from this documentary about the real-life mysterious signal from outer space known as the "Wow Signal," what they thought of how they told the history of radio astronomy and the way the documentary sticks to the scientific truth; which as we all know...is out there. Cue The X-Files theme! Wow Signal is available on Flix Fling, Amazon Prime, Google Play, Vimeo On Demand, and more.
Beginning January 21, 2020, distributor TriCoast Entertainment will release the feature length documentary “WOW SIGNAL” on streaming platforms Amazon, iTunes, FlixFling, Vimeo on Demand, and Google Play. Produced by Bob Dawson and Michael Shaw, the film documents a night in 1977 when Ohio radio telescope operators discovered a strong, interstellar signal that is said to be the world's best evidence of communication from an extraterrestrial civilization.

Official Website: http://www.dev.lawabidingbiker.com In this podcast episode, I go into great detail of the dangers I see out on the road as a full-time Police Motorcycle Officer and Instructor. I see riders making so many common mistakes that unknowingly put their lives in danger. Unfortunately, I respond to many motorcycle collisions and it's never fun. Many times it's not the rider's fault, but had that rider practiced better defensive riding skills they would have avoided it. And yes, I understand that under some circumstances there is just simply nothing the motorcycle rider could have done to avoid a collision. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE In the studio on the mics were Lurch and special guest and Patron Member, Bob Dawson. Bob donated his time to paint the entire inside and outside of the Law Abiding Biker™ Studio and Shop when we were building it! Bob Dawson owns Dawson Custom Painting out of the Yakima, WA area. Both Lurch and Bob weigh in on their experiences and things they do to stay safe when out riding. I truly believe that if motorcycle riders would stop making many common mistakes that motorcycle collisions would be greatly reduced. Too many riders become complacent and make dangerous mistakes, don't practice, and are not prepared. Ask yourself, when is the last time you spent just 20 minutes practicing emergency breaking in a parking lot? This could save your life and it's an easy drill to set up. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! You need to listen in to this podcast episode, as it's much easier to verbally break down the things I've seen and to give you all the tips and tricks that will help you stay safe when riding your motorcycle. I will try to give a few of the highlights in this article, but again, the details are in the podcast episode. Some more common dangerous things: Following too closely Back off! Give yourself reaction time and the cars behind you time Don't ride with your feet on the highway pegs in the city with traffic. They are for the highway. Greatly reduces your reaction time to get your foot on the brake Cover your clutch in heavy traffic Be ready to emergency brake and shift down to brake and escape Slow at EVERY intersection even if it's a green light Expect a car to come through every time Head checks left and right upon approach Cover clutch and brakes Don't just ride through at full speed and expect traffic to stop Don't start on a green light right away. Wait a few seconds to avoid those other cars trying to beat the yellow/red light Don't ride in a driver's blind spot Back off or pass Tap your brake lever or pedal to flash your brake lights to get the attention of driver's behind you when slowing or preparing for a stop Or buy an aftermarket brake strobe modulator Be slow to stop/Following distance again gives you that ability to not have to stop suddenly Be cautious of traveling in the left lane in a city when two or more lanes are in the same direction as you are going Cars ahead in the left lane will stop and have to wait for oncoming cars to make a left turn. Cars will not expect this and everyone will brake quickly. Vehicles turning right from the right lane don't have to wait and just quickly turn off. Again, the proper following distance will help you stop slowly and give cars behind you more time to see you and also stop Following distance.....hmmmmmm, this keeps coming up? Do it if you care about your life! Be extra careful when a line of cars are stopped in the opposite direction as you and they are backed up. Look for gaps left in the traffic. Drivers will try to come out of parking lots through those gaps to get out and will not see you and have a blocked view from the traffic they are cutting through. Very dangerous, so slow down and pay very close attention covering your clutch and brakes. Practice, practice, practice your emergency braking and other riding skills Take your motorcycle riding safety seriously Again, these are just a few highlights of what we discussed in this podcast episode. To learn it all, please listen in. New Free Video Mentioned: How to Flash Harley Boom Box Wireless Headset Interface Module-WHIM-Digital Technician Sponsor-Ciro3D CLICK HERE! In this episode, we look at how tech tools, such as platforms that track ROI or augmented reality experiences, can enhance an incentive program. At the same time, we discuss where technology can't fully deliver yet and where a human touch — that inspiring head coach speech — remains timelessly effective. For this topic, we spoke with a pair of Incentive experts: Richelle Taylor, vice president of strategic marketing for performance improvement and marketing services company One10, and Bob Dawson, co-founder of platform-as-a-service technology company TRAVYRS, LLC. They offered best practices for enhancing a program and tips for how you can better be using the tech tools you've already got. Listen on for more.
