In this episode, Eli is joined by Dr. James R. White to respond to 9 arguments against Sola Scriptura put out by Cameron Bertuzzi of Capturing Christianity.
#TCS #TheChurchSplit Once, Capturing Christianity was a thriving YouTube channel dedicated to exploring the intellectual side of Christianity. Cameron Bertuzzi built a platform that welcomed deep conversations between Protestants, Catholics, and skeptics alike. His ecumenical approach exposed many to the richness of Christian thought, making his channel a go-to resource for those wrestling with faith and philosophy. However, after his conversion to Roman Catholicism, things took a drastic turn. Instead of continuing in the spirit of bridge-building, Cameron has increasingly focused on attacking Protestantism—the very tradition that built his audience and supported his work for years. As a result, many of his longtime followers feel alienated, leading to a decline in support and engagement. This is a cautionary tale: no matter how big you get, never forget those who helped you rise. Integrity matters, and when your message shifts from unity to division, even the strongest platforms can crumble. What do you think about Cameron's journey? Let's discuss in the comments. Snuck a quick program in today before teaching at the seminary this evening, talking about developments with what seems like the soon passing of Pope Francis, etc. Then we briefly discussed recent conversations concerning Cameron Bertuzzi, a convert to Romanism, and his claim that the supposed appearances of Mary at Zeitoun, Egypt, decades ago provide better evidence for the Christian faith than the resurrection appearances of Jesus. Hopefully get to do another program from Jonesboro on Thursday before the two debates this weekend.
In this engaging video, Luke Hansen takes on the criticisms of the Book of Abraham, particularly those raised by Cameron Bert from the YouTube channel Capturing Christianity. The video delves into the historical context of Joseph Smith's acquisition of ancient papyri and mummies in 1835, which led to the creation of the Book of Abraham. Hansen provides a detailed analysis of the translation process, highlighting the complexities and controversies surrounding it. He addresses common misconceptions about Joseph Smith's use of the so-called Egyptian alphabet and grammar documents, clarifying that these were not directly linked to the translation of the Book of Abraham. Instead, they were part of a broader attempt by Smith and his associates to understand ancient languages. Throughout the video, Hansen emphasizes the importance of considering both secular and spiritual perspectives when evaluating the Book of Abraham. He acknowledges the challenges posed by critics but also points out the numerous historical and linguistic accuracies found within the text. Hansen encourages viewers to explore the spiritual dimensions of the book, suggesting that personal revelation plays a crucial role in understanding its significance. This video serves as an informative resource for anyone interested in the intersection of faith, history, and scholarship.⏱️⏱️VIDEO CHAPTERS⏱️⏱️:00:00:00 - Introduction to Cameron Bert's Criticisms00:01:30 - Joseph Smith and the Book of Abraham00:03:01 - Egyptian Papers and Translation Claims00:04:29 - Critique of Kirtland Egyptian Papers00:06:03 - Understanding Egyptian Symbols and Texts00:07:44 - Lion Couch Scene and Jewish Perspectives00:09:06 - Repurposing Egyptian Stories in Christianity00:10:44 - Church Response to 1912 Egyptologist Critiques00:12:23 - Modern Analysis of Papyrus Fragments00:14:02 - Radical Ideas in the Book of Abraham00:15:36 - Historical Details and Predictions00:17:20 - Biographical Details of Abraham's Life00:18:55 - Interpretation of Facsimiles and Figures00:20:33 - Spiritual and Secular Knowledge Discussion00:22:06 - Conclusion and Supporting the Channel⚡ For this and more visit WardRadio.com

In this episode of Still Unbelievable! David from Skeptics and Seekers joins Matthew to discuss, and answer, 3 questions that Cameron Bertuzzi posted onto his Capturing Christianity channel. We're unimpressed by these questions because we think they reveal an attempt to trap atheists into a specific answer, and as such they are not good faith questions. This is why our discussion of the questions run to an hour. This is the edited audio of a video David and Matthew recorded, to see the full unedited video see the links in the show notes. The link to the original questions video is also in the show notes, along with the full text of the questions. The Questions: 1) do you believe that our beliefs ought to be proportioned to the evidence? 2) if we could verify that a miracle occurred, is that good reason to think god exists? 3) if you're an atheist and you said yes to no1. and you think we have a way of verifying that miracles exists. Because Cameron found Suan Sonna's analysis of the Peter-Eliakim typology so compelling, we highlight its fatal flaw, and then propose a more Scriptural approach to Matthew 16

In our third episode on the conversion of Cameron Bertuzzi, we briefly analyze the Jimmy Akin argument for the lack of evidence of the papacy in the early church, and then examine the Peter-Eliakim typological argument proposed by Suan Sonna. Both men were influential in Cameron's conversion, but both are shown to be grossly unfamiliar with the history upon which their arguments are ostensibly based. As we have shown in the prior episodes, Cameron converted based on the ignorance and the flawed arguments of his Roman Catholic counselors.

Nursing homes in Montana are closing this year, and I keep hearing about it from Billings Gazette. The latest one in Miles City makes eleven so far in 2022. And presumably the elderly and otherwise incapable of caring for themselves cannot be taken in by family, or else they wouldn't be in nursing homes. Right? Of course right. Don't ask such triggering questions. You should know better. Also, you must celebrate WNBA player Brittney Griner being traded for the Russian "Merchant of Death." If you object, or question, or express disapproval, you run the risk of being called a bigot of any one or more of several varieties. And you don't want that kind of trouble, do you? Oh, while you're at it. Do make sure to mourn that Arizona Senator Krysten Sinema just announced she's leaving the Democratic party and registering as an Independent instead. Shame on her. I'm not sure why, but this is probably a threat to Democracy. Someone should follow her into a bathroom with cameras again and see if they can persuade her to change her mind. It's worth a shot. Thankfully, "The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty," is both merciful to the penitent, and also just toward the stubborn and stiff-necked. But that brings us to the rather less comfortable question of whether we Americans have become a stiff-necked people. Enter Thomas F. Booher and Brad Littlejohn, writing for The Tulip Driven Life and Ad Fontes, respectively. Again and again, it seems, we come back to this issue of what to do about so-called "Christian nationalism," including the preliminary, and entirely routine, attempts to define both "Christian" and "nationalism" to exclude the unorthodox, and distance ones self from the heterodox. But let us do also spend some time on the curious case of Cameron Bretuzzi, of Capturing Christianity. Less than a month ago he sat down with Matt Fradd of Pints With Aquinas to discuss his conversion from de facto Protestantism to Roman Catholicism. Other than the architecture and art, what's the draw? Perhaps this: that some people do just want to be told what to do, think, feel, and believe. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/garrett-ashley-mullet/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/garrett-ashley-mullet/support

It seems, from our last Cameron Bertuzzi video (from Capturing Christianity), our Roman Catholic viewers have greatly protested the use of a certain phrase. Everybody HATES 'Works-Based Salvation' - so what does that actually mean? Who adheres to work-based salvation... and do Roman Catholics rightfully distance themselves from it?

Back in the regular studio for the first time in over a month- Wow, glad to be in the old digs again. Then we started reviewing some comments made by Cameron Bertuzzi related to Roman Catholicism and in particular the papacy. We eventually got to his comments on Isaiah 22, and finished focusing upon what it means to have peace with God.
