On this episode, Caroline Donaghue and Priya Rawal welcome Charlie Walsh, Head of Residential Sales & Marketing at The Old War Office (OWO).Charlie was introduced into the world of property through his love for movies. After a boring work experience stint at a stockbroking firm, he was later offered an opportunity at a property company. The adventure of travelling to sites, seeing developments in person kick cemented his interest in the industry. Though some experiences in his career knocked down his confidence, he was still very eager to a life in the world of property later. This passion landed him opportunities to spearhead international sales for high profile schemes including 1 Grosvenor Square, Lincoln Square, Holland Park Gate, Savills to name afew under his belt. With an incredibly extensive background in the super prime sector, Charlie landed his dream job working with the Hinduja family to transform The Old War Office, one he calls 'the most iconic building'. Infused with a rich, cultural legacy from, being the home to King Henry VIII to the home of Britain's Ministry of Defence in 1906, the journey of turning the former government office into a haven of luxury hospitality 120 years after doors shut to the public was one Charlie 'found amazing and one that was I hugely honoured to complete'.Supported by Angel O'Donnell & V1 Architectural Visualisation.Follow Caroline @caroline.donaghue, Priya @priya.rawal.london and the podcast page @therealrendezvous on Instagram and LinkedIn. ‘Lead, or be led', is how Neil Craig, this week's guest ‘In the Arena', describes it. Choose to lead, or allow the challenge of your circumstance to lead you.In the podcast, he speaks about the two egos leaders need to succeed in high-stakes environments, and I love this insight.Neil Craig is a man with more experience in the broadest range of elite sport, and has made growth a practice.Whether it be as the Senior Coach of the Adelaide Football Club in the AFL after a storied playing career, as Eddie Jones' ‘truth teller' when Eddie was coaching both England and Australia in Rugby World Cups, or working with legendary cycling coach Charlie Walsh in Olympic campaigns, Neil provides the most profound insights that can only come from someone who brings curiosity and courage to every conversation, and the generosity I so value in our friendship. As a coach of coaches, Neil Craig is the ‘second set of eyes' to coaches and leaders seeking to perform at the highest level, as another coach's coach, Cody Royle, wonderfully describes it in his fantastic book of the same name.As leaders, we all need a ‘second set of eyes'.Play on!Cam.

Scott estimates that he’s told more than 15,000 stories and interviewed 30,000 people for print, radio and television. He describes himself as a journalist who has “tried to stick to old-fashioned reporting, just the facts, without adding my personal views.” He also writes that “at the heart of every story, big and small, is a person. It is people who make the news.” The winner of 11 Emmy Awards, Scott is currently the senior correspondent at New York’s WPIX-TV. He has written for the New York Herald Tribune as well as Parade Magazine and has worked as a radio reporter for the Mutual Broadcasting System and at such television outfits as CNN, WNEW, and WABC. In this New Books Network interview, Marvin Scott recounts some of the stories he covered including one he did on Charlie Walsh, the bank thief who became a New York celebrity. He also describes how he managed to interview Abraham Zapruder and how many years later, he synced Zapruder’s recorded words to the 26-second amateur film he had shot of the Kennedy assassination in Dallas. Scott champions traditional, shoe-leather reporting and laments the influence of social media outlets that publish first and check the facts later. The name 'Charlie Walsh' sends a shiver down the spine of Australia's top cyclists of the last few decades. David Barry Vivian 'Charlie' Walsh OAM has been the toughest and one of the most successful coaches in the history of Australian elite sport. He was the national Track Cycling Coach for Cycling Australia for 20 years. During that time he coached cyclists to 10 world records, 12 Olympic Games records and 22 Commonwealth Games records. His cyclists have won 78 Gold, 50 silver and 51 bronze medals, breaking 44 world records along the way. Among the famous names in cycling who worked under Charlie are Brett Aitken, Darryn Hill, Shane Kelly, Brad McGee, Gary Neiwand, Stuart O'Grady, Luke Roberts, Mike Rodgers, Mike Turtur, Dean Woods. Charlie was National Coach of the Year for all sports in 1982, 1984, 1993 and 1994 among many other awards. He achieved all of this as one of sport's most polarising coaches. Charlie wanted success, not popularity. He was one of the early adopters of high performance psychology, teaching his athletes to push themselves beyond all physical and mental limits. He did this through famously brutal training regimes, where the only metric was SURVIVAL. By his own admission, many extremely talented athletes didn't make it. A lot of people didn't like it. But the results spoke for themselves. Charlie shares many amazing stories from his time in cycling including those ferocious training programs, key principles for training the mind and body, reflections on the doping era of cycling, as well as his time working with AFL footballers at the Adelaide Crows. There’s plenty of history being rewritten of late in road cycling circles, but with former Australian Institute of Sport rider Scott McGrory recently demystifying the ‘legend’ that is – or was – Charlie Walsh, the annals of Australian track cycling are also getting a thorough workout. In this week’s Cycling Central podcast, we – that being Al Hinds, Phil Gomes and Anthony Tan – speak to Jonathan Lovelock, author of ‘The Human Cost Of Gold Medals’, published today on the CyclingTips website, which follows up from the fallout created by McGrory’s nervy but stirring retrospective. We also get on the blower to Kevin Tabotta, performance director at Cycling Australia, to review the Cyclones’ medal tally-topping haul following the track world championships in Cali, Colombia, and ask what we can expect down the (pun alert!) track (at least we warned you!) as we move inexorably closer to the 2016 Games in Rio. The 72nd edition of the ‘Race to the Sun’, Paris-Nice, begins this Sunday. With no prologue, no time trial, and no hilltop finish it’s a surprisingly open parcours that could favour a puncheur like Simon Gerrans or Sylvain Chavanel or GC contender like Richie Porte or Tejay van Garderen; the only certainty, it seems, is that the cycling world will be watching. Aside from Strade Bianche and Roma Maxima also on this weekend there’s the Australian MTB championships – yes, we know, it’s only March and you’re already glued to the couch! – so Al and Tanny defer to the Wisdom of Phil, who guides us through the contenders hoping to book themselves a seat to Glasgow for the upcoming Commonwealth Games. Ye up for that, laddies and lassies? If yoos say aye then press ‘play’!
