From 14 Straight Losses to National Coach of the Year: The Chris Ayres StoryChris Ayres knows what it feels like to struggle before things finally click.Long before becoming one of college wrestling's most respected coaches, he lost 14 straight matches as a youth wrestler. Most athletes would have quit.Instead, Ayres stayed in the fight. In this inspiring episode of HarmonyTALK, host Greg Frigoletto speaks with the New Jersey native about resilience, leadership, and the unlikely path that carried him from underdog athlete to national coaching success at two of the country's most prestigious universities: Princeton and Stanford.Ayres reflects on growing up as a high-energy kid searching for direction, discovering wrestling as a place where his intensity became an advantage, and learning how failure often becomes the foundation for future success. That persistence helped transform him into an Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association champion, a two-time recipient of Lehigh's Outstanding Athlete honor, an All-American wrestler, and a record-setting athlete before launching a coaching career that reshaped multiple programs. After helping Lehigh capture five straight Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association team championships as an assistant coach, Ayres took over a Princeton program that had nearly been canceled years earlier and helped guide the Tigers into one of the most exciting eras in program history, including a Top 6 national finish. Now at Stanford, Ayres has quickly elevated the Cardinal into national contention, earning 2026 National Coach of the Year honors after leading Stanford to a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in only his third season.Filled with honesty and perspective, this conversation goes far beyond sports. It is about positivity, persistence, and what becomes possible when someone keeps showing up long enough for the story to change. @Greg FrigolettoFollow Chris Ayers:Instagram: @ayers157Facebook: @ChrisAyresStanford Wrestling: @CardWrestling

Phill Drobnick (@CoachPhill) recently retired as the National Team Director at USA Curling after the 2026 Milan Olympics, bringing an end to nearly two decades of coaching experience at the international level. Since 2005, Phill has been instrumental in guiding Team USA to international success, including notable achievements at the Olympics and World Championships. Phill's coaching highlights include guiding Team USA to the Junior Men's World Championship in 2008, and more recently, orchestrating the unforgettable gold medal win for Team Shuster at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. That victory was the U.S.'s first-ever Olympic gold in curling. He was back in Pyeongchang in 2023, where Korey Dropkin and Cory Christensen clinched the first-ever Mixed Doubles World Championship for the U.S.  Phill also had his share of learning experiences, including serving as Head Coach at the 2010 Winter Olympics, where he gained valuable insights through the team's challenges. This experience informed his subsequent role as Project 2018 National Coach, where he worked with athletes identified as potential Olympians. His promotion to Men's National Coach in 2014 saw him leading Team Shuster into the 2018 Olympic Games. From 2018 to 2022, Phill served as the Men's and Mixed Doubles National Coach, and at the 2022 Olympics, he was the National Coach for the Men's, Women's, and Mixed Doubles teams. In our discussion today we take a deep dive into the intricacies of curling, the intense training the athletes do, and even cover some of the highlights and lowlights of the 2026 Winter Olympics.  BE THE FIRST TO KNOW ABOUT THE RELEASE OF OUR NEW BOOK Captain: The Athlete's Guide to Being an Exceptional Team Leader, due out in May 2026. Please fill out this quick Google form and you will be notified when discounted book pre-orders are available. We are constantly asked "where have all the leaders gone?" The architect of the greatest single-season turnaround in NCAA history, a Division II National Champion and National Coach of the Year, Jordan Fee has been named as Lamar University head men's basketball coach announced LU Vice President and Director of Athletics Jeff O'Malley Saturday afternoon. Fee becomes the 13th head coach in program history. "I am extremely excited to be announcing Jordan as our next head basketball coach," said O'Malley. "Jordan has been described as a 'driving force' and I think once our fans get a chance to meet him they will understand why. Jordan is a dynamic individual whose résumé speaks for itself. He is looking forward to being a Cardinal and we're excited to be handing him the reins." Fee comes to the Golden Triangle from Boca Raton, Fla., where he spent the past two seasons as an assistant at Florida Atlantic, including this past year where he was promoted to associate head coach, helping lead the Owls to 36 wins and a 2025 postseason berth. Fee's meteoric rise to the NCAA Division I ranks comes as a shock to no one after building a résumé boasting of some of the most prolific offensive numbers in NCAA history. After spending eight seasons at Nova Southeastern University – seven as assistant and the final year as associate head coach – Fee was named head coach at Gannon University. What followed was a turnaround that grabbed national headlines. Taking over a program that posted a 3-23 (.115) overall record the year before his arrival, Fee literally flipped the script recording a 32-3 (.914) mark while Gannon also made a 17-win improvement in conference play. The Golden Knights would go on to lead NCAA Division II in scoring (100.4 points per game), win the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) regular-season and tournament title, win the NCAA DII Atlantic Region title and advance to the 2024 Division II Elite Eight and record the greatest single-season turnaround in NCAA history, regardless of division or gender. For his efforts, Fee was named both PSAC West Coach of the Year and NCAA Division II National Coach of the Year. Fee took over as GU's head coach following a year where he helped guide Nova Southeastern to a perfect 36-0 record and an NCAA Division II National Championship. "Lamar University has a proud history of excellence on the basketball court, and we are committed to bringing that championship‑level success back to Beaumont," said LU President Dr. Jaime Taylor. "This search generated tremendous national interest, and I am confident that we have identified the right leader for Lamar University. Jordan brings an energy, a vision, and a proven record that align perfectly with who we are and where we intend to go. He is one of the true rising stars in the coaching profession, and I am excited to see our program grow and thrive under his leadership." Fee has left a paper trail of success that is hard to ignore in the world of collegiate basketball. During his time as either head coach or assistant, Fee has helped coach a National Champion, posted a 178-77 (.698) overall record, three NCAA Division II Elite Eight appearances, four NCAA Division II tournament appearances, three South Region Championships, three conference regular season and tournament titles and recruited and developed consecutive DII National Players of the Year.

If you're over 40 and feel like the old "eat less, move more" advice isn't working anymore, you're not alone. In this episode, I'm joined by Alicia Jones to talk about why most women are falling short on protein in midlife — and the simple, realistic shifts that can support muscle, metabolism, and steady energy without extreme dieting. If you're over 40 and feel like your energy, strength, or body composition has shifted — you're not imagining it. One of the biggest gaps I see in midlife women is protein intake. Most women are simply not getting enough, and in perimenopause and menopause that can quietly affect muscle, metabolism, cravings, inflammation, and how you feel day to day. In this episode of Living Life Naturally, I'm joined by fitness and weight loss strategist Alicia Jones, who helps women over 45 transform their health through realistic nutrition and training strategies. We talk about what changes during hormonal transition, why extreme calorie restriction can backfire, and how supporting lean muscle can make midlife health and weight goals feel more doable again. In This Episode, We Discuss: Why most women over 40 are falling short on protein (and why it matters more in midlife) How perimenopause and menopause can increase muscle loss risk Why protecting lean muscle supports metabolic rate and long-term quality of life Protein targets to aim for: 20–30 grams per meal (and daily guidance based on body weight/activity) Why drastic calorie cutting can make results harder in midlife Easy protein strategies that don't require a complete diet overhaul Smart swaps (like higher-protein yogurt options) and how to read labels Added sugars vs naturally occurring sugars (what to pay attention to) A simple "log one day of food" approach to identify hidden gaps (especially protein and fiber) Midlife fitness mindset shifts: quality over quantity, resistance training, and practical ways to add intensity into everyday movement Key Takeaway Midlife doesn't require harsher restriction — it requires smarter support. When protein and strength are prioritized, many women notice improvements in energy, satiety, strength, and body composition — without the burnout of constant dieting. About Alicia Jones Alicia Jones helps transform the health and lives of women over 45 through her fitness and weight loss strategies. As artificial intelligence-powered tools flood the market and marketing becomes faster, cheaper and easier to automate, advisors are discovering an uncomfortable truth: more tech doesn't automatically create more trust. In an industry that's louder and more crowded than ever, growth is no longer a tactics problem; it's an attention, resonance and differentiation problem. The firms that win will be the ones that understand how technology amplifies identity, not replaces it, and how behavioral finance and neuroscience shape decisions long before a prospect ever takes a meeting. In this episode of The WealthStack Podcast, Shannon Rosic sits down with Dr. Joshua Wilson, founder of NeuBeFi, to explore where tech, behavioral finance, and human psychology actually intersect, and why most advisors are focusing on the wrong side of the decision-making process. Key takeaways: Why most firms have a marketability problem, not a marketing problem  How technology amplifies identity rather than creating differentiation What “signal discovery” means and how it turns sameness into differentiation Why growth fails when treated as a checklist instead of a diagnosis How clarity and cognitive relief drive trust in money decisions Resources: Listen to WealthStack on Wealth Management Subscribe and listen to WealthStack on Apple Podcasts Subscribe and listen to WealthStack on Spotify Connect with Shannon Rosic: Shannon Rosic WealthStack website Wealth Management Connect with Dr. Joshua Wilson: LinkedIn: Dr. Joshua Wilson LinkedIn: NeuBeFi Website: NeuBeFi About Our Guest: Dr. Joshua Wilson is the pioneer behind Neuro-Behavioral Finance—a transformative approach that fuses behavioral finance, neuroscience, narrative strategy, and decision science to help advisors and FinTechs become the only option their ideal clients feel drawn to. At UNC, he sparked a resurgence. He's accrued ACC titles, NCAA top-5s…and in 2024, the school's first men's 5,000m national champion. Now, he's doing what great coaches do best: helping his athletes level up, without losing who they are. It's about more than running fast. It's about stepping into the moment, and staying there. In today's conversation, Coach Milt tackles philosophical conversations around training, mindsight, building culture, dangers to the modern day runner like social-media, prioritizing fatherhood over certain opportunities and a large deep dive into the progressions of Ethan Strand and Parker Wolfe.Tap into the Coach Chris Miltenberg Special.  If you enjoy the podcast, please consider following us on Spotify and Apple Podcasts and giving us a five-star review! I would also appreciate it if you share it with your friend who you think will benefit from it. Comment the word “PODCAST” below and I'll DM you a link to listen. If this episode blesses you, please share it with a friend!S H O W  N O T E S-The Run Down By The Running Effect (our new newsletter!): https://tinyurl.com/mr36s9rs-BUY MERCH BEFORE IT'S GONE: https://shop.therunningeffect.run-Our Website: https://therunningeffect.run -THE PODCAST ON YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClLcLIDAqmJBTHeyWJx_wFQ-My Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/therunningeffect/?hl=en-Take our podcast survey: https://tinyurl.com/3ua62ffz

“You can't be someone who shies away from sticking your neck out. I tell our guys: ‘We are trying to win.' I'll say it publicly. I will say it to anybody. Maybe that puts pressure on us. But life is pressure. Athletics is practice for life. You need to figure out how to handle pressure, how to handle stress, how to handle others' expectations, your own expectations, and manage it”.We continue with our office hours episodes as I sit down with Coach Dave Smith, one of the most accomplished coaches in NCAA cross country history and the architect behind Oklahoma State's dominance. Since taking the helm in Stillwater, Coach Smith has built a powerhouse program leading Oklahoma State to four NCAA men's cross country titles and a Big 12 record of 13 conference championships. He guided the Cowboys to a historic team performance at the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Championship, scoring just 49 points, the third lowest winning total since 2000.Coach Smith's accolades don't stop there. He's a four-time National Coach of the Year, a Team USA coach on the world stage, and a leader of a program that has consistently produced NCAA champions, All-Americans, and world-class athletes like German Fernandez, Taylor Roe, Alex Maier, and Sinclaire Johnson. In today's episode, we dive into his journey from athlete to coach, how he's cultivated a championship driven environment at Oklahoma State, what's next for his program, his athletes, and his take on the future of distance running in the NCAA and beyond.Host: Chris Chavez | @chris_j_chavez on Instagram Guest: Dave Smith | @coach_dave_smith on Instagram SUPPORT OUR SPONSORSOLIPOP: Big name sodas are rolling out bold new flavors in 2025, but the real buzz is happening in the prebiotic pop aisle. Sign up for free here: https://ryanhawk.kit.com/profile Bob Stoops was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 2021. He was the head football coach at the University of Oklahoma from 1999 to 2016. He led the Sooners to a 191-48 record over his career. His 2000/2001 team won the national championship. He earned the National Coach of the Year award the same season. Since 2020, Stoops has been a head coach in the XFL, winning an XFL Championship in 2023 with the Arlington Renegades. He played college football at the University of Iowa, earning team MVP his senior year as a defensive back. Notes: Coaches Bob has worked for: Hayden Fry at Iowa, Bill Snyder at Kansas State, and Steve Spurrier at Florida. He's worked for some amazing coaches. Relationships are everything. You must connect with people. You must be authentic. Learn from other coaches, but you have to be yourself Sherri Coale: “One of my favorite things about him is he's the busiest man on the planet but never appeared that way. That's a skill and an art. That fascinates me.” What makes a great head coach? They relate to people. They care about them. They can motivate and influence by clearly sharing the vision of the program and inspiring others to get on board. They are decisive people. Most importantly, they know how to connect with people. All leadership is a people business. If you can't connect with others, you'll probably struggle. Creating a “coaches forest” (beyond a tree) - Mike Stoops, Mark Mangino, Mike Leach, Bo Pelini, Kevin Sumlin, Kevin Wilson, Lincoln Riley, and more. How has Bob prepared so many guys to be successful head coaches? Hiring – “I always tried to hire people smarter than me.” A lot of people say this, but not all do this. Coach Stoops looked for people who had a track record of performance… And then he used his gut instincts after he spent time with him. He paid attention to how they treated his secretary, how they treated the waiter at lunch… Some call those the little things, but they were very important to Coach Stoops The overarching theme of the entire conversation was the simplicity of how Coach Stoops built his program. He didn't try to overcomplicate anything. He knew he wanted coaches who were accomplished, high-character people. And he wanted tough players who loved football. Their offenses may have looked exotic but they didn't have a ton of plays installed. They focused on what they did and then practiced it relentlessly so that they would execute better than their opponents. I think there's something beautiful in the simplicity with how he's built his program and the results speak for themselves. Great players want to be coached - Jeremiah Smith, Adrian Peterson. What he looked for in players: They have to LOVE football. Need to be tough and physical. Someone like Dan Cody. From Oklahoma, was skinny, and nobody on the staff wanted to give him a scholarship, but Coach Stoops did, and he turned out to be a great player. Liked to keep local guys home. Off-season workouts create the culture of the team. "We won because we outworked everyone." The attitude of the national championship team - "They were tired of being kicked around." And "I shared with them the history of Oklahoma and let them know the way it should be. When we started, they were a losing team." Josh Heupel - The most valuable recruit ever for Coach Stoops. Mike Leach was a 1 of 1. An original. He seemed relaxed and casual, but he was also very demanding that they do it right. He was also focused on just a few plays instead of trying to do everything. FOCUS. Do what we do Wife Carol - Impressive leader at Mary Kay. Won a pink Cadillac 16 years in a row. National Sales Director. Life/Career Advice - Go hard, be tough, be true to yourself, enjoy the struggle, and look forward to the fight. Nothing great happens without going through struggles first.
