The government has agreed a bailout worth 56 million euro for RTÉ. 16 million of which will be given in the coming weeks, with a further 40 million euro to follow next year. New reforms for the national broadcaster will include no RTÉ staff can earn more than the Director General Kevin Bakhurst, who currently earns around a quarter of a million euro a year. Joe Duffy, Claire Byrne and Miriam O'Callaghan all face a reduction in salaries as part of the new cuts. The national broadcaster's new strategic vision and cost-cutting plan outlines a 'voluntary redundancy scheme' where the workforce at the organisation will be cut by 20% resulting in 400 job losses between 2024 and 2028, and will target those who earn over one hundred thousand euro a year. For more on this, Alan Morrissey was joined by Timmy Dooley a Fianna Fail Senator from Mountshannon and member of the Oireachtas Media Committee on Wednesday's Morning Focus. Many of us have dreamed of the moment we are proposed to, or the moment we are going to ask someone to marry us. The details of these monumental relationship steps differ from couple to couple, but most often they include an element of surprise, and happen in a standard order. We are so happy to have resident heartbreak coach for POOSH and newly engaged, Claire Byrne, our favorite relationship expert, back on the pod to discuss her recent engagement, why she and her fiance did a lot of planning before he popped the question, why this worked for them and which other types of couples could benefit form this kind of preparation, how to know if you're ready before any planning begins, why Claire felt it was important to be transparent about her unique proposal experience, and how she is letting go of the judgment that came after the question! We're baaaaack! Thank you for coming back after my week off! This week Aoife Moore and I get down to the news business. We chat through the homecoming of the women of the world cup, the propsed sex-for-rent ban, and two of the wildest stories we've ever discussed.I felt like it was important to take some time to talk about Sinead O'Connor as there was no podcast last week. I've loved reading Una Mullally's writing about Sinead in the Irish Times over the years along with her recent piece for the New York Times, so was grateful she was up for chatting. I was particularly grateful to her for the reminder she gives at the end of our chat. Esther O'Moore Donohoe and I chatted through the week's entertainment stories, including what is going on with Lizzo, Ariana's new relationship, as well as the impact of social media trolling on Claire Byrne's exit from the race to be presenter of the Late Late Show.Recommendations:Aisling Ever After by Emer McLysaght and Sarah BreenThe List by Yomi Adegoke To support the podcast and access additional episodes check out the Patreon here.Get tickets for my show at the Cork Podcast Festival here. Nuacht Mhall. Príomhscéalta na seachtaine, léite go mall. * Dé Máirt, fuair giúire i Nua-Eabhrac go ndearna iar-uachtarán na Stát Aontaithe Donald Trump mí-úsáid ghnéis ar an iriseoir E Jean Carroll seacht mbliana is fiche ó shin. Os rud é gur cás sibhialta a bhí ann, gearradh píonós $5m ar Trump ach ní sheolfar go príosún é. Dúirt Carroll go raibh náire uirthi agus gur chaill sí a post mar gheall ar an éigniú agus gur spreag an feachtas #metoo í chun a scéal a insint. Bhí Trump i láthair ag imeacht de chuid CNN oíche Dé Céadaoin, inar mhaígh sé gurb iad cúrsaí polaitíochta ba chúis leis an triail, agus gur goideadh vótaí sa toghchán uachtaránachta in 2020. In ainneoin na bhfadhbanna dlí atá Trump, meastar go bhfuil a lán leantóirí aige i measc na vótálaithe, agus go bhfuil seans ann go mbainfidh sé an chéad toghchán eile in 2024. Tá eolaithe atá ag obair san Elvéis agus san Artach i ndiaidh teacht ar mhiocróib atá ábalta plaistic a dhíleá ag teocht íseal. Táthar eolach ar neart miocrób a bhriseann plaistic anuas ag teocht os ceann 30 céim cheana féin, ach baineann costas ard agus truailliú leis an chleachtas sin mar gheall ar an teas a bheadh de dhíth. Fuarthas roinnt baictéar agus fungas a dhíleánn plaistic ag 15 chéim celsius. Tá plaistic ar cheann de na truailleáin is coitianta ar domhan, agus deirtear go bhfuil plaistic le fáil sa bhia a itheann muid, san uisce a ólann muid agus mar sin inár gcorp féin. Is cosúil gurb é láithreoir teilifíse agus fear grinn Patrick Kielty rogha na coitiantachta don ról an láithreora ar The Late Late Show, an clár teilifíse is cáiliúla de chuid RTÉ. Tá Ryan Tubridy, a thosaigh ar an seó i 2009, chun éirí as ag deireadh na míosa seo, agus tá daoine mór le rá ar nós Claire Byrne agus Miriam O'Callaghan tar éis rá go poiblí nach nglacfaidh siadsan leis an phost. Cuireadh tús leis an chlár cainte sa bhliain 1962, agus bhí Gay Byrne ina óstach ón am sin go dtí 1999. Chaith Pat Kenny deich mbliana sa ról sular tháinig Tubridy isteach. Is as an Dún ó dhúchas do Kielty, agus maraíodh a athair le linn na dTrioblóidí sna Sé Chontae, agus meastar go mbeadh sé in ann dul i ngleic le topaicí tromchúiseacha chomh maith le hábhair éadroma. * Léirithe ag Conradh na Gaeilge i Londain. Tá an script ar fáil i d'aip phodchraolta. * GLUAIS mí-úsáid ghnéis - sexual abuse éigniú - rape díleá - digest truailleán - pollutant rogha na coitiantachta - front runner topaicí tromchúiseacha - serious topics
