I'm re-releasing this popular episode because so many of you have been sharing how hard it is to focus on your work right now. The answer? Work smarter, not harder. My guest is a best-selling author and professor at Georgetown University, Cal Newport, and he shares exactly how to work less and get way more done (while also feeling happier and calmer). So many of us are stuck in a cycle of answering emails all day, sitting on Zoom meetings, but never really moving the ball forward in our work or in our lives, and this episode is going to change that. I've used so many of the tactics from this interview to restructure my workdays and how I run my business.

In today's episode, we invited back Thaddeus Owen and Heidi Syme of DreamWalkerz, this time focusing on electromagnetic fields (EMFs), wireless technology, and the growing questions many families have about how modern environments can affect health. We discuss the difference between naturally occurring and man-made electromagnetic fields, the research that has fueled concern about wireless technologies, and why this topic has become increasingly relevant as our homes fill with Wi-Fi networks, smartphones, Bluetooth devices, smart appliances, and baby monitors.Thaddeus and Heidi share their perspective on practical ways families can reduce exposure without becoming overwhelmed, including simple changes related to device use, distance, sleep environments, and home technology. We also discuss grounding, time outdoors, and the role of nature in supporting overall well-being, as the best ways to reduce these exposures.Topics discussed:• What electromagnetic fields are and how they occur in nature • The difference between native and non-native EMFs • Research on wireless technology and biological effects • Cell phones, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and baby monitors • EMFs and fertility concerns • Grounding and earthing practices • Why sleep environments matter • Common household sources of EMF exposure • Practical ways to reduce exposure without fear or perfectionism • The importance of spending time outdoors and connecting with natureAs with so many topics we cover, the goal isn't fear. It's awareness, thoughtful decision-making, and finding an approach that works for your family.#330 | Sleep Like a Baby: The Impact of Melatonin, Blue Light, and Sunrise with DreamWalkerzDreamwalkerzDreamwalkerz.ai PromoCode: Downtobirth1Primal HackersSend us Fan MailSupport the showAccess our workshops: Have a Physiologic Birth in the Hospital and Ultrasound: The Research vs RhetoricNeeded

Visceral fat, subcutaneous fat, Prenuvo MRI scans, and the truth about belly fat Your gut and your face are telling on you. This episode reveals why the fat under your skin might be protecting you while the fat around your organs is quietly wrecking your metabolism, heart, and longevity, and exactly what to do about the difference. Get $300 off your next Prenuvo MRI scan: https://prenuvo.com/?discount=Dave Host Dave Asprey sits down with Dr. Sean O'Mara, a former undercover narcotics agent, criminal prosecutor, emergency medicine physician, and retired U.S. Army Colonel who assisted the White House and Senior Executive Service, treating Vice President Dick Cheney, former President Bill Clinton, and Secretary of State Colin Powell. Today he's recognized as the world's most experienced physician in eliminating visceral fat and epicardial adipose tissue (EAT), the inflammatory fat now linked to nearly every major chronic disease and accelerated aging. He founded Influence Medicine, a specialty built around helping senators, heads of state, and top executives optimize their biology so they can perform and lead at the highest level. Dave and Dr. O'Mara break down the real difference between visceral fat and subcutaneous fat, why a visible six-pack might signal hidden disease, and how MRI scans reveal what your mirror never will. They dig into the biohacking strategies that actually shift your body composition: fasting protocols that build beneficial fat instead of burning it away, microbiome optimization for fat metabolism, and the supplements and functional medicine tools Dr. O'Mara uses with his highest-performing clients. They also cover the gut-hormone connection driving modern metabolic dysfunction, why political leaders are quietly getting scanned, and what your face reveals about your visceral fat levels before you ever step on a scale. You'll Learn: The real difference between visceral fat, subcutaneous fat, and why one protects you while the other kills you Why a six-pack might be hiding disease your MRI would catch How a 72-hour fasting protocol can build the good kind of fat through adiponectin signaling What your face reveals about your visceral fat and longevity risk The gut-hormone connection driving testosterone, metabolism, and inflammation Why senators and world leaders are getting scanned for hidden fat How microbiome health, fasting, and functional medicine work together for fat loss and longevity Thank you to our sponsors! - Beyond Wonderland Conference | Oct 13 - 14, 2026. Belle Burden was, by her own account, the good girl. Quiet, compliant, the kid who wrote her own book report and did her homework on Friday afternoons. Then one night in the second week of the 2020 lockdown, a stranger left a voicemail: your husband is having an affair with my wife. By 6 a.m. her 20-year marriage was over, and the life she thought she could count on stopped making sense. In her memoir of the event and its aftermath, Strangers, Belle traces how she got to this place - and how she found her way back. They get into the stuff we all carry: why "being good" can quietly cost you yourself, how kids notice far more than we give them credit for, and why it's never too late to tell them the truth. Dr. Becky wrote up her thoughts on how to get the "good girl" tendency out of your own emotional driver seat. * Thank you to our partners for making this episode possible: Girl Scouts: If you have a daughter in kindergarten through 12th grade, visit girlscouts.org to learn more LMNT: Get a free gift with your purchase at drinkLMNT.com/goodinside Pampers Easy Ups: Start your potty training journey with Peppa Pig Pampers Easy Ups Little Spoon: Get 50% off your first order at littlespoon.com/rattled with code RATTLED Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. No company decides to fail. It drifts there one comfortable lie at a time. Kaz Nejatian took over Opendoor when it was just months away from bankruptcy and set out to rebuild it from the ground up. What happened next shocked everyone. Most turnaround stories are told years later, by the winner, after the ending is already known. That's why they always sound clean and polished. This one doesn't have an ending yet, and it's anything but clean and polished. Kaz takes us inside while it's still happening. We discuss why great companies drift away from reality, why truth has to matter more than feelings, and how competent people who don't believe in the mission quietly destroy an organization. He shares the principles behind rebuilding culture, eliminating bureaucracy, making faster decisions, using AI to flatten management, and creating teams that move with speed and ownership. Dr. William Li is a Harvard-trained physician, co-founder of the Angiogenesis Foundation, and New York Times bestselling author whose work centers on one quietly radical premise: the power to stay healthy lives inside you. In this conversation, we explore the five hardwired defense systems the body runs continuously, angiogenesis, stem cells, the gut microbiome, immunity, and DNA protection, and what it looks like to actually support them through food, sleep, and daily choices. What We Dive Into:1. You are not just one organism. You carry 39 trillion bacteria inside you, many of which send signals up through the vagus nerve directly to the brain, shaping mood, social behavior, and stress levels.2. Your body was born with 70 million extra stem cells stored in bone marrow, ready to mobilize and repair damage whenever called. Sleep, food, and metabolic health directly influence how effectively they do their job.3. The environment is full of things we cannot fully control, microplastics, toxins, pollution. What we can control is whether our internal defense systems are strong enough to handle the load. Chronic stress degrades those systems faster than most environmental exposures.Know Thyself, but not by yourself. You've been told menopause is a hormonal transition. It's also a vascular one, and almost nobody is talking about it. In this episode, Karen sits back down with Cathy Eason, Chief Science Officer at Berkeley Life, for round two on a molecule most women have never heard of but should know by heart: nitric oxide. It is tiny, it is a gas, and it touches nearly every system in your body. When estrogen drops in perimenopause and menopause, nitric oxide production drops right along with it, and that decline may be quietly connected to your fatigue, your brain fog, your blood pressure, your blood sugar, and yes, your libido. Karen and Cathy get specific about the vascular side of midlife that rarely makes it into the conversation. That includes what nitric oxide has to do with responsive desire versus spontaneous desire, why heart disease risk climbs even in women who feel healthy, and what your labs might be trying to tell you before anything feels obviously wrong. Cathy also shares a personal story involving her spouse's vascular event that reframes how seriously women need to take this. This one connects a lot of dots. If you've ever felt like your energy, your desire, and your health markers were somehow all falling apart at once with no clear explanation, this episode is going to make a lot more sense of it. In This Episode, We Cover: What nitric oxide actually does in the body and why it touches nearly every organ system The direct link between declining estrogen and declining nitric oxide production Why fatigue is the number one reported symptom in perimenopause and menopause, and the physiological reason behind it How nitric oxide affects blood sugar, digestion, and insulin sensitivity The connection between nitric oxide, brain fog, mood, and sleep Why responsive desire is normal for most women, and what blood flow has to do with it What time of day your circulation actually peaks, and why that matters for sex The lifestyle habits quietly depleting your nitric oxide without you realizing it What labs and at-home tests can hint that you're running low A personal story about a spouse's vascular event and why women need to take heart health seriously now, not later Who This Episode Is For This episode is for the woman who has been chasing energy, sleep, and libido fixes without ever hearing about the blood flow piece. It's for anyone who has been told her labs are normal but she still doesn't feel like herself. It's especially relevant if you're on HRT and not getting the full results you expected, or if heart health has never really been on your radar because you don't have metabolic disease. If you've noticed cold hands, brain fog, low energy, or a sex drive that disappeared and you've been chalking it up to just getting older, this conversation is for you.     Sponsors TRY LMNT Ice tea: right now, you can get a free 8-count Sample Pack of their most popular flavors with any purchase at DrinkLMNT.com/KarenMartel Try the Estro 2 Rejuvention, skin care made for midlife women! What should I know about tandem nursing, and how do I prioritize a newborn without creating oversupply? My newborn had low blood sugar readings in the hospital and we were encouraged to use donor milk. Was that necessary, and would things have resolved differently outside that setting?I experience waves of anxiety, nausea, and sadness right before letdown. What is this and is it normal? As usual, we lead into a round of quickies including: can latch change during teething, how to manage nipple sensitivity during your cycle, does milk supply drop when baby starts sleeping longer stretches, should you always nurse from both sides, is one breast doing all the work okay, do breastfed babies need vitamin D, and when is it okay for baby to sleep through the night. We wrap with a personal question which is: What advice would you give to someone entering the industry?#364 | When Co-Sleeping Gets Complicated: Weaning, Toddlers, and Sleep Transitions with Tiffany BelangerSend us Fan Mail Support the showAccess our workshops: Have a Physiologic Birth in the Hospital and Ultrasound: The Research vs RhetoricNeeded

We wanted to cut through the noise and ask a more useful question: where does reducing exposure meaningfully matter, and where are women being sold anxiety? We talk about some of the highest-impact places to focus, including fragrance, household cleaning products, skincare, indoor air quality, plastics, and common materials in the home. We also discuss realistic, budget-conscious swaps, the role of overall health in supporting the body's natural detoxification processes, and why perfection is neither possible nor necessary. This is a practical conversation about relative risk, informed decision-making, and reducing toxic burden in a way that feels sustainable rather than stressful.#221 | Understanding Fetal-Maternal Microchimerism with Rachel Marynowski of @Kale.BlossomKale Blossom**********Send us Fan Mail Support the showAccess our workshops: Have a Physiologic Birth in the Hospital and Ultrasound: The Research vs RhetoricNeeded

When a woman becomes a mother, her brain physically reorganizes around the baby. We've known this for a while. What we didn't know (until recently) is that the same thing happens to dads. Dr. Darby Saxbe is a neuroscientist and psychologist at USC, and one of the only researchers in the world scanning fathers' brains before and after they have kids. What she found: the same regions that change and streamline in new mothers change in new fathers. The more hands-on a dad is, the more pronounced those changes are. Dr. Becky and Dr. Darby get into what "losing gray matter" actually means (it's not what it sounds like), how paternal postpartum depression shows up differently than maternal (and why it almost always goes unrecognized), and why the awkwardness of new fatherhood isn't a signal that you're wrong for the role. Donald Robertson is a cognitive behavioral psychotherapist, author of over nine books, and one of the founding voices in the modern Stoicism movement. He has spent over 30 years studying how ancient Greek and Roman philosophy intersects with contemporary psychology, and in this conversation we start where it all begins: the maxim carved into the temple of Apollo at Delphi. Know thyself. We explore what it actually meant, who said it, and why it still matters more than most self-help advice written in the last century. What We Dive Into:1. The Stoics drew a sharp line between what actually happens and the value judgments we add on top of it. To say something "is awful" treats our emotional reaction as a fact about the world.2. Of all the emotions that derail a life, anger gets the least attention in therapy, self-help, and honest self-reflection.3. In the ancient world, wisdom was not something you consumed or memorized. It was something you practiced daily. Collecting insights without changing your behavior is closer to what the Sophists sold than to what Socrates taught.Know Thyself, but not by yourself. His first collection of short stories, “Thrilling Tales of Modern Men,” puts it all on the page. In today's episode, Cassidy Peck shares a birth story shaped by large fibroids, a late IUGR diagnosis, low amniotic fluid, and a postpartum emergency that nearly cost her life. After years of debilitating periods and a delayed fibroid diagnosis, Cassidy conceived naturally and planned a home birth with an experienced midwife. Her pregnancy was largely uncomplicated until late third trimester, when concerns about fetal growth and fluid levels led to induction at 37 weeks. What followed was an unmedicated induction, the vaginal birth of her 4 lb 6 oz daughter, and then a catastrophic postpartum hemorrhage caused by a fibroid that had descended into the birth canal. Cassidy required emergency surgery, two blood transfusions, and an unexpected intraoperative myomectomy that ultimately saved both her life and her uterus.#125 | Uterine Fibroids in Pregnancy: Their Impact on Birth, Uterine Scars, and How Black Women are Affected the MostSend us Fan Mail Support the showAccess our workshops: Have a Physiologic Birth in the Hospital and Ultrasound: The Research vs RhetoricNeeded

“If I don't push my kid, they'll waste their potential.” A lot of us believe this. But is it true? Myleik Teele joins Dr. Becky to work through a question that haunts every ambitious parent. What unfolds is an honest look at whose anxiety is actually running the show — and whether the drive we're trying to install in our kids is something we need to figure out for ourselves first. They get into: what ability vs. effort actually predicts about your kid's future, the moment Myleik saw a straight-A report card and felt something twist inside her, and the specific pressure Black parents carry into every one of these conversations. Dr. Becky wrote up some conversation starters that might help if you're worried your kid isn't reaching their full potential.  * Thank you to our partners for making this episode possible: Ole Henriksen: Use the code DRBECKY30 for 30% off the Banana Bright+ Eye Crème LMNT: Get a free gift with your purchase at drinkLMNT.com/goodinside Girl Scouts: If you have a daughter in kindergarten through 12th grade, visit girlscouts.org to learn more. Casual Preppers Podcast - Prepping, Survival, Entertainment.

The Last Safe Town: Could Your Town Hold It Together? In most emergencies, people think about two choices: stay home or bug out. But there's another piece that matters just as much: the town you already live in. In this episode, we're looking at your actual town as a survival asset. The roads, water system, grocery stores, fuel, comms, schools, churches, public works, medical care, local businesses, and the people who keep the whole thing running. Could your town handle 72 hours? What about three weeks? What about three months? We talk about what could cut your town off, how weather and geography shape your risks, whether people and supplies can actually move, where your water and food really come from, how fuel and power keep the town functioning, and why public works might be one of the most important groups nobody thinks about until something breaks. We also get into local comms, gathering places, medical weak points, outside support, leadership, outsiders coming in, and how to score your town with a simple green, yellow, or red “hold-together” test. Your town is not automatically safe because it's small. It's not automatically doomed because it has limits. The real question is whether you know what's actually there and whether those things can hold under pressure. The conversation is less about breastfeeding and more about expectations, trust and boundaries.Next, we answer one we've never been asked: "What do contractions actually feel like?" How's it possible this hasn't come up before?!Then, we discuss a common late-pregnancy scenario: a routine ultrasound that leads to concerns about a "big baby." When a healthy 38-week pregnant woman is told her baby's abdomen is measuring large, how much weight should she give to that information? As always, we finish with Quickies, covering cervical lips, high-lipase milk, pacifiers, coffee during pregnancy, milk blebs, antidepressants, swaddling, wake windows, dates, sex, retained placenta, induction, creatine, and a few personal questions about coffee preferences and family size.Have a question for a future Q&A? Eli opens with a powerful reframe: our parents truly did the best they could with what they knew. From there, we dive deep into what childhood trauma actually looks like (and why so many of us don't recognize it as trauma), how to build resilience in our kids, and why the way we parent almost always traces back to how we were parented. Ketamine Therapy, MDMA, Psilocybin, and the Science of Psychedelic Assisted Healing Most people struggling with depression, anxiety, and trauma have never felt safe in their nervous system, and the treatments they have been prescribed are making that worse. This episode breaks down the neuroscience of psychedelic therapy, why ketamine is the safest and most accessible starting point, how MDMA triggers a BDNF dependent pathway that repairs trauma all the way down to the epigenetic code, and why your antidepressant may be blocking the very brain states required for real healing. -Watch this episode on YouTube for the full video experience: https://www.youtube.com/@DaveAspreyBPR -Order Dr. Rabin's Book ‘A Simple Guide to Being Alive': https://apolloneuro.com/pages/a-simple-guide-to-being-alive Host Dave Asprey sits down with Dr. Dave Rabin, MD, PhD, a senior research scientist at the Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition, Executive Director of The Board of Medicine, and co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of Apollo Neuroscience. Dr. Rabin received his MD and PhD in neuroscience from Albany Medical College and specialized in psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He has spent 20 years studying chronic stress and non-invasive therapies for treatment-resistant illness, and his primary research on MDMA assisted therapy for severe PTSD has demonstrated that trauma can be reversed at the epigenetic level, offering a genuine path to a cure. His upcoming book A Simple Guide to Being Alive publishes June 1, 2026 and is a science-backed manual for anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed by the modern world. Dave and Dr. Rabin break down why nearly 50% of people prescribed psychiatric medication never achieve remission, why SSRIs and SNRIs physically block the brain states required for emotional healing, and why the FDA rejected MDMA therapy after three trials showed an 88% response rate. They dig into the exact BDNF pathway that makes MDMA and ketamine so transformative, how psychedelics amplify safety learning in the amygdala at the molecular level, and why trauma passes down up to 14 generations through epigenetic code that can now be measured and repaired. They also cover why your breathing rate at the doctor's office is already a stress signal nobody is reading, how your smartphone puts your nervous system into a chronic fear state before you even get out of bed, and why ketamine is the right starting point for anyone curious about psychedelic therapy right now. You'll Learn: Why nearly 50% of psychiatric patients never get better and what treatment-resistant actually means How ketamine therapy works, why it is legal in every state, and why it is the safest place to start The exact BDNF pathway through which MDMA repairs fear extinction in the amygdala How MDMA assisted therapy produces measurable epigenetic repair of the cortisol receptor gene damaged by trauma Why SSRIs and SNRIs block the insula mediated brain states required for real emotional healing Why combining serotonergic psychedelics with SSRIs puts you at risk of life-threatening serotonin syndrome Why trauma passes down up to 14 generations and what you can do to stop the cycle now Why smartphones put your nervous system into a toxic overstimulation state before the day even starts How the FDA rejected MDMA therapy after 88% of patients responded and who paid to make that happen Thank you to our sponsors! - Qualia | If you want to take the guesswork out of maintaining high NAD+ levels as you age, go to www.qualialife.com/daveNAD to get clinically proven Qualia NAD+ backed by a 100 day money back guarantee and code DAVENAD at checkout gets you an extra 15% off. - iRestore | Reverse hair loss at www.irestore.com/DAVE and get exclusive savings on the iRestore Elite, use code DAVE - OneSkin | For a limited time, try OneSkin with 15% off at oneskin.co/DAVE. - LMNT | Right now you can get a free 8-count Sample Pack of LMNT's most popular drink mix flavors with any purchase at drinkLMNT.com/dave Dave Asprey is a four-time New York Times bestselling author, founder of Bulletproof Coffee, and the father of biohacking.  Women have been told how we have to show up at work, in our relationships, in our families, in society at large, forever. And it turns out it's costing us way more than we thought. It's making us sick. My guest today, Sara Hirsh Bordo, is a 15-time award-winning documentary filmmaker and somebody who was hit with melanoma, breast tumors, Hashimoto's, and Epstein-Barr all at once. Instead of just treating it, she investigated it. She funded her own research of 1,000 women, the first-ever study on the relationship between empowerment and autoimmune conditions, and what she found was absolutely groundbreaking. Her study was endorsed by a former US surgeon general, and it's an absolute paradigm shift in how we think about autoimmune conditions. Sarah has since completely healed, and we're going to talk about exactly what she did in this episode.

Parents are being sold creativity like it's a subscription box. Workshops, kits, frameworks, scripts: the message being that your kid needs more imagination and it's your job to install it. Austin Kleon, author of Steal Like an Artist and Don't Call It Art, has a different take: your kid already has it. The imagination, the playfulness, the willingness to not-know — it's all there. The question isn't how to give it to them. It's how to stop blocking it. And maybe, while we're here, how to get a little of it back ourselves. Dr. Becky and Austin talk about what creativity actually needs to thrive (not a workshop), what so-called "problem kids" and great artists have in common, why your kid's obsession with garage doors is not a problem, the link between play and depression, the game that got Austin through the pandemic, and the teeth-brushing song Becky invented entirely by accident. Read Dr. Becky's ideas for how to be a playful parent when you don't feel like playing. * From the newborn days to the teen years, Good Inside now supports parents through every stage of childhood — with practical guidance for the moments that matter most.  Thank you to our partners for making this episode possible: Play-Doh: Shop Play-Doh at Walmart for a summer of imaginative play Skylight: Get $30 off a 15-inch Skylight Calendar at myskylight.com/becky LMNT: Get a free gift with your purchase at drinkLMNT.com/goodinside Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.
