Soon the new Consumer Protection Code comes into force from the central bank. Among the key provisions of the code is allowing vulnerable groups to nominate someone to act on their behalf with banks and insurance companies. The Compliance Institute polled its members and 22% of them believe that preventing so-called “greenwashing“ is also an important aspect of the new code. All to discuss with Michael Kavanagh the Chief Executive of the Compliance Institute.
When you've spent your last nine euro on a curry cheese chips in Inchicore and been presented with a bag of promised vinyl and a sauna is the only cure for a hangover then you know it has to be another episode of your favourite podcast. Dan is away this week so we took our chance to see if Paul O'Hehir would reprise his performance from last week and you could have knocked us down with a feather when he agreed! To aid and abet in the days post Dublin Derby we got the poetic Paddy Kavanagh away from a Data Centre to join us, as he was apparently, "in the area". Without a Dan to stamp out the tangents we spiralled from a soul legend's header to Derry's maybe inadequate back five, to bar room filing in Iceland and eventually ended up with Stephen Bradley's new version of that old dancehall favourite, "Speak To The Club". Even though he wasn't in studio Dan spoke with Jon Daly and we had Niamh O'Mahony's take on the pyro debate. It was definitely a differently structured show which Rascals Brewery, Collar & Cuff, Planify, O'Reilly's Sportswear and Future Ticketing all conspired to help create. It's episode 5 and it's all yours!
Michael Bisping and Paul Felder discuss the massive upset over the weekend with Lone'er Kavanagh getting the best of Brandon Moreno in Mexico City, yet another loss for Chito Vera and more before diving into the massive news dump including Jiri vs Ulberg for the vacant 205 title, what that means for the new ex-champion Alex Pereira, Jon Jones saying he's back in talks about fighting at The White House, JDM vs Carlos Prates set for the UFC's return to Perth and more. Then Michael Venom Page joins the show to discuss fighting a training partner at UFC London later this month, coming off a movie set and back into cage and more. Plus a full preview of UFC 326 this weekend, the much anticipated tilt for the BMF title between Charles Olivera and Max Holloway and so much more! Lone'er Kavanagh proved once again that fortune favors the bold. Now what does his future hold? Saturday's UFC Mexico event concluded with Kavanagh putting on a career-best performance to win a decision over two-time flyweight champion Brandon Moreno. Kavanagh made the most of a short-notice opportunity and is now poised to climb even higher in the rankings, but how quickly should the matchmakers push the budding prospect? On an all-new edition of On To the Next One, MMA Fighting's Alexander K. Lee and special guest Jed Meshew discuss what's next for Kavanagh now that he's landed firmly in the top 10 of his division. Additionally, future matchups are discussed for David Martinez, who defeated tough veteran Marlon Vera in the co-main event, the inimitable King Green after his upset knockout of Daniel Zellhuber, plus we do our best to find dance partners for up-and-coming fighters Edgar Chairez, Imanol Rodriguez, and Santiago Luna, and more. All that and a big assist from the listener picks. Follow Alexander K. Lee: @AlexanderKLee Follow Jed Meshew: @JedKMeshew Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
Arman Tsarukyan did it again. On Saturday night at RAF 6, Tsarukyan wrestled influencer Georgio Poullas in a bout that quickly turned chaotic. Tsarukyan and Poullas got extremely physical during the wrestling match, with the referee repeatedly being forced to intervene as the bout blurred the lines between wrestling and Powerslap. Then, immediately after Tsarukyan won the match, he tackled Poullas and punched him, leading to a massive brawl in the arena. It was another instance of Tsarukyan letting his temper get the best of him, and will it once again lead to the UFC benching him in the lightweight title picture? Not only was Tsarukyan's outburst wild, it also overshadowed the UFC Mexico event, where Lone'er Kavanagh stepped in on short notice to handle Brandon Moreno in the main event, delivering the best performance of his career as he beat up the former two-time champion over 25 minutes. Fresh off a vicious KO loss, Kavanagh rebounded as well as possible, and is now a real player in the flyweight title picture. Following RAF 6 and UFC Mexico, MMA Fighting's Alexander K. Lee and Jed Meshew react to both events, Arman's big outburst, Kavanagh's sensational showing, whether Moreno still has title aspirations, King Green turning back the clock, and more. UFC Mexico didn't look great on paper but we did get some great moments in reality and it started with the very first bout on the card. Damien Pinas stopped Wes Schultz in opening stanza, showing fight fans that Aruba isn't just for vacations in the sun. Francis Marshall would submit Erik Silva in the first round, and Javier Reyes would make quick work of Douglas Silva de Andrade via TKO.Lacy Chiasson would take her third, straight defeat, this time at the hands of Ailin Perez, a much smaller woman who bullied her for most of the fight. One has to wonder if Lacy has hit her ceiling. Ryan Gandra finishing Jose Medina was a pretty easy prediction for many, and Gandra did it in just 41 seconds to round out the prelims. The main card saw Imanol Rodriguez stop Kevin Borjas late in round two via TKO, and King Green scored a second round TKO over Daniel Zellhuber. One has to wonder if Daniel has also found his ceiling, as this marks his third, straight loss. Finally, in a surprising twist, Lone'er Kavanagh soundly defeated Brandon Moreno via unanimous decision. Now that we've reviewed the highlights, let's check out the results and bonuses while we're here.MMA Vivisection & 6th Round is a reader-supported publication. Brandon Moreno is back in Mexico, and this time his back is against the wall. On Saturday, Moreno takes on short-notice replacement Lone'er Kavanagh in the main event of UFC Mexico, at a pivotal moment in the two-time flyweight champion's career. Moreno is just 2-3 over his past five fights in the UFC, and coming of the first stoppage loss of his professional career, a TKO to Tatsuro Taira in December. Does Moreno still have what it takes to make it back to the title he once held? MMA Fighting's Alexander K. Lee and Jed Meshew preview UFC Mexico and what's at stake for Moreno and Kavanagh in Saturday's main event. Jim Norton and Matt Serra welcome both sides of a key lightweight matchup as Daniel Zellhuber and King Green join the show ahead of their clash at UFC Mexico City.First, Mexico's own Daniel Zellhuber discusses fighting at home in the altitude for the second time, what he learned from his Fight of the Night war in 2024, and how he's approaching a pivotal bout after back-to-back losses. The 26-year-old “Golden Boy” explains why he's hoping to face the best version of the 39-year-old veteran and what a win in front of his home crowd would mean for his career. Then, King Green calls in to give his side of the matchup. Returning to Mexico for the first time since his early days as a pro, Green reflects on how the sport — and today's young fighters — have evolved since he first broke in. He also breaks down how his experience, composure, and fight IQ factor into Saturday's showdown with Zellhuber.Plus, Jim and Matt preview and make three picks each for this Saturday's UFC Mexico City card headlined by flyweight contenders Brandon Moreno and Lone'er Kavanagh.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
The UFC is back in Mexico City. This Saturday, the UFC returns Arena CDMX for another fight card in Mexico's capital city, headlined by a flyweight matchup between former two-time champion Brandon Moreno and rising contender Lone'er Kavanagh. Moreno was originally set to fight Asu Almabayev, but after Almabayev pulled out of the event on just a few weeks' notice, Kavanagh was pulled from his scheduled bout against Bruno Silva to step in, creating an unexpected main event, and No Bets Barred is here to break it all down. This week, host Jed Meshew flies solo to dive into all the action at this weekend's event. Topics discussed include where Moreno is in his career, how the short-notice might affect Kavanagh, whether or not Chito Vera will actually try to do stuff in the co-main event against David Martinez, if Daniel Zellhuber can start to live up to his potential, a ton of Contender Series prospects making their debuts, a three-headed Climb, and more.
