A few weeks ago as we were planning this series and the Easter services, the graphic for this series was unleashed in a weekly meeting. Some of our team were filled with excitement and others with anxiety. As you look at the images your mind starts to wander and if you're like me, you think about how a certain person can't be a christian. Didn't so and so say something about… Didn't that person commit such and such… Isn't that person being indicted for… Last week Aaron answered the question "What is a Christian?" by addressing the internal reality of the believer, the supernaturally empowered ability to Love the Almighty God. This Sunday we look toward the external expression of the believer and the act of demonstrating one's love for God by Loving your Neighbor! Romans 10:9-10 — Why do some people demand that society must be more tolerant while simultaneously being intolerant of Christianity? Some even say that they believe in Jesus, yet scoff at the doctrine of repentance, saying that modern humanity needs a more intellectual message for today's world. In this sermon on Romans 10:9–10 titled “The Condition of the Heart,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones confronts the notion that confessing Jesus as Lord is only an intellectual action and shows that true belief in Christ is one that affects the whole personality. By analyzing the book of Romans, one is able to see that the unbelief of a person cannot be broken by intellectual argument because the intellect has been darkened by the condition of the heart. Dr. Lloyd-Jones reminds that one's condition before salvation hated God and that hatred controlled their thoughts towards God. One's words reveal the condition of the heart, and out of the mouth is what reveals whether or not one truly believes in Christ. "A Condition of the Heart"Mark 10:13-16Having recently completed our series “None Like Jesus” let's continue to “Behold Him” by embarking on a new study through the Gospel of Mark. Mark's Gospel is the shortest of the four Gospels and it is action-packed from start to finish – as evidenced by the word “immediately” used over 40 times. Mark wrote to believers, probably Roman believers, who were no strangers to persecution. And he wanted to disciple his readers to be strong in their faith by encouraging them to look to their Mighty Messiah, the Son of God, who remained steadfastly faithful even while becoming their Suffering Servant who died for them. Mark's Gospel is a call to all believers to fearlessly “Follow Jesus” because they can trust Him completely.

Unfortunately, many people are Christian in name only. It was true in Jesus' day as well, and that's why He shared the parable of the Sower. That will be our topic of discussion once again today as we look at Mark chapter four. Here Jesus describes four kinds of soil, and we'd do well to see which best describes our heart , to see whether or not we are who we think! 

The story of the sower and the seed illustrates for us that our hearts must be properly prepared in order to fully receive all that God has for us. Pastor Lloyd now takes us to Mark chapter four.

In part two of the discussion on real Christianity, we spend some time on the condition of the heart. This is part two of a discussion.

Jesus says that one reason He teaches in parables is to reveal and yet conceal. In other words, it's a tangible way to deliver a spiritual revelation. But it requires The Holy Spirit to discern. That is to say that Jesus' true followers will understand because of the work of The Holy Spirit, but the unresponsive to Jesus, will not understand.  Jesus chose this method because He is teaching about the kingdom of heaven. The parables are about the reign and rule of Jesus. Today we are talking about the Parable of the Sower, also called the Parable of the Soils.
