 We've been focusing on the first 3 chapters of Revelation and looking at 7 letters to 7 churches that are direct messages from Jesus to real first century churches in modern-day Turkey. Besides a few exceptions, the letters all contained four major parts: 1. Introduction – "I am the One..." 2. Commendation – "I know your works..." 3. Correction – "I have this against you..." 4. Promises – "To the one who overcomes..."   In this message, Lead Pastor Jamie Nunnally considers what Jesus would say to us if we were to get a letter written from John?   Following the 4 sections of each Revelation letter, I want to give you 4 final timeless truths for us to respond to this morning:   1. Jesus knows you and He is everything you need. The first part of each letter was Jesus' introduction of Himself. Because He knows you, He knows what you need. Jesus is not only aware of our struggles, He is the solution to them. John 10:14 NLT  He doesn't diagnose your life from a distance, He steps into your life with you.   2. Jesus sees you and celebrates what's good. In every letter in Revelation, Jesus starts the same way—"I know your works." Before He corrects them, He commends them. Psalm 103:8-14 NLT  God isn't only your Judge, He's your Dad. He is not standing over you with a clipboard making note of all your mistakes. God doesn't just see where you failed; He sees where you fought. He doesn't only point out your mistakes; He celebrates your progress.   3. Jesus loves you enough to correct what's wrong.   God doesn't leave us where He found us. Correction is not rejection, it's redirection toward who you're becoming. Prov. 3:11-12 NLT  The enemy's voice brings shame, but God's voice brings change. God doesn't correct you because He's mad at you; He corrects you because He's committed to you.   4.  Jesus' promises for your future are greater than the failures of your past. Even though God corrected His churches, He always gave them a promise of something good that would happen if they repented and returned. Overcomers aren't those who never fall, but those who refuse to stay down. 2 Peter 1:4 NLT God's promises are activated by obedience. Obedience turns a promise from possibility to a guarantee.   On the other side of your obedience is a version of your life you haven't seen yet, but it's what you really want. Jesus knows you, and He is everything you need. Jesus sees and He celebrates what's good. Jesus loves you enough to correct what's wrong. And Jesus has promised something greater if you respond.   And VFC is not just a church with a past to celebrate; we're a church with a promise to step into. Breaking chains is powerful, but walking in freedom is essential. In Part Two of our Overcomers series, we take a deeper look at how the enemy gains influence in a believer's life, not through ownership, but through agreement. Scripture teaches that temptation is external pressure, but when pressure is welcomed and repeated, it can become a foothold. And when agreement continues over time, it can develop into a stronghold, an identity level belief that contradicts God's truth. This is not a message of condemnation, but of freedom. Because anything built on a lie can be dismantled by truth. The battle is real, but so is the victory.

He is the true God and eternal life. 21 Dear children, keep yourselves from idols. Opening Prayer I read a story of two young men who grew up in the Northwest. Whenever they reach critical moments in their lives, they read letters written by their mother—letters in her familiar handwriting, sent to encourage and exhort her boys as they grow from childhood to manhood. Letters written for birthdays, for Christmas, for graduation from high school. To these boys, those letters from Mom are expressions of her endearing and enduring love. They are frameable. Why do these sons hold these letters from Mom so dear? Because their mother died of cancer years earlier, when they were very young. The disease was taking its toll on her day after day, but instead of lying there wasting away, she spent her time writing letters to her two boys to be delivered to them at specific times in their lives. And on these occasions, the boys' father would deliver the letters. They would hear from their mother, in her own words —words of endearing and enduring love. Similarly, the apostle John has left all of God's spiritual children a frameable letter—a letter of endearing and enduring love. A letter of encouragement and exhortation. A letter of warning and instruction. A letter of absolute assurance. This letter, 1 John, has been preserved for us through the...

Faith in the Incarnate Son of God 1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. 2 This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. 3 In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, 4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. 6 This is the one who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three that testify: 8 the[a] Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. 9 We accept human testimony, but God's testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. Opening Prayer Believers are identified by various titles throughout Scripture. We're called Christians, disciples, followers, saints, sheep, salt, light, ambassadors for Christ, members of the body of Christ, royal priests, aliens, strangers, servants of Christ, and the people of God, among other titles. Like a jeweler turning a diamond under a bright light, each designation reveals another facet of our character, role, position, or privilege. Near the end of his letter, John introduces two more titles for believers and also mentions, in this section, the three witnesses who testify in complete agreement regarding God's Son. All of this will help us deepen our understanding of what it means to be part of God's forever family. As we arrive at the last two verses in this section, we come to one of the most explicit statements of the gospel found in the entire Word of God. 5:1–3 Approaching the end of his ministry, the apostle John penned the fourth
