We say we want deep relationships but often settle for surface-level convenience. In this heartfelt and vulnerable message by Director of Student Ministry Justin Ruszkiewicz, we confront the lie that we can do life alone. Through the story of personal loss, biblical truth, and honest reflection, this sermon unpacks how Christ calls us to be "A Community of Overcomers". Discover how healing, growth, and real connection only happen when we move past fear, pride, and the urge to isolate and step into the messy beauty of true, gospel-centered relationships.Message Notes: https://notes.subsplash.com/fill-in/view?page=BJ3e5hx7xx5-Day Devotional: https://www.theharbor.life/blog/tag/lies-a-community-of-overcomersDiscussion Questions: https://storage2.snappages.site/PJBKS3/assets/files/TLWL3-SGQ.pdf_______________________________________________________________________Subscribe so you don't miss a thing!Find us on:YouTube: YouTube.com/TheHarborInstagram: Instagram.com/TheHarbor_lifeFacebook: Facebook.com/TheHarbordotlifeWebsite: https://www.TheHarbor.lifeWatch/listen on The Harbor AppNew episode every week!
There are many things in the world that can overthrow our confidence. A simple act or gesture can make or break our day, and perhaps, some major life decisions, too. We sometimes tend to think that there are no ways to break through; thus, we begin to get stuck in defeat mode. But, one look at the Savior, one word of surrender and repentance, can turn the tide. Let's get our focus on God when things overwhelm us. No waves are too high when our Savior walks on water. No mountains are too lofty when it's only His footstool. No storm is strong enough not to obey the voice of the Creator. Take authority and claim the victory!

Overcomers1st John 5:4-5 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?We know that we are Christians because we have overcome the world, and we are overcoming the world! This is John's next point. So, what is the WORLD that we have overcome, how have we overcome it, and when did that happen?Read the NOTES HERE. Hosted on Acast. Our Listener asks, “About 40 years ago I joined a very legalistic church. They taught salvation by grace, but taught salvation was only a beginning. Now that one was saved they must now endure, and the ‘inheritance' was now the pursuit. They taught that not all Christians would be Overcomers, and that some, though saved, might have the door closed on them to further Christian growth due to disobedience. As God had told the Israelites that they could no longer enter the land -- He had sworn in His wrath that they could no longer enter ‘His rest' -- that God could do the same to Christians who rebel. They taught that the Israelites, though shut out of the land, decided to enter their own and were soundly defeated, for God ‘was not with them.' They taught that Hebrews 6, where it says ‘and this we will do if God permit' was teaching that some Christians, though seeking to grow in Christ, were prevented from doing so as God had ‘closed the door' on them. Though they attempt to grow in Christ, they cannot, for ‘God is not with them' to accomplish that. They are still ‘saved,' but they cannot move forward any more. I left that group years ago, but the fear still comes back. I try to advance as a Christian, but fear God has shut the door to growth because I angered Him to the point where He swore in his wrath that I can proceed no further. Again, this based on Numbers 14 combined with Hebrews 6. I realize this sounds strange and irrational, but that fear has remained for years! Perhaps I am trying to ‘move forward' as a Christian, but God (as he said to the Israelites) is saying ‘don't attempt to enter the land, for I have shut you out of it.' I don't walk daily with this fear, but it comes and goes. I just wish I had clarification regarding this. Was there any scriptural basis for what this group taught, Pastor Jesse? Or is the enemy just using that teaching to stall me in my Christian walk, and cause my relationship with God to be fractured? ... And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death (Revelation 12:11). Hallelujah!
