Godly Mothers Value Truth and Love, 2 John 1:1-13

Everyone is created in God's image, but only those who have been called to follow Jesus have become children of God—and that identity changes everything. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Day 2759– A Confident Life – Balancing Truth and Love – 3 John 1:1-15 Putnam Church Message – 11/16/2025 Sermon Series: 1, 2, & 3 John “Balancing Truth and Love"   Last week, we explored the letter of 2 John and Learned how to have “A Confident Life: Balancing Love and Truth.” This week, we will focus on the letter of 3 John, and as we explore the fine art of “Balancing Truth and Love” from 3 John 1:1-15 in the NIV, found on page 1907 of your Pew Bibles.   1 The elder, To my dear friend Gaius, whom I love in the truth. 2 Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. 3 It gave me great joy when some believers came and testified about your faithfulness to the truth, telling how you continue to walk in it. 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. 5 Dear friend, you are faithful in what you are doing for the brothers and sisters,[a] even though they are strangers to you. 6 They have told the church about your love. Please send them on their way in a manner that honors God. 7 It was for the sake of the Name that they went out, receiving no help from the pagans. 8 We ought therefore to show hospitality to such people so that we may work together for the truth. 9 I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to be first, will not welcome us. 10 So when I come, I will call attention to what he is doing, spreading malicious nonsense about us. A — About This devotional walks through 2 John, emphasizing genuine love expressed through obedience to God's commandments and warning believers to guard themselves against deception concerning Christ. B — Best Verse "This is love, that we walk according to His commandments." (2 John 1:6, NKJV) C — Called to Do Believers are called to live out love through obedience, remain rooted in the truth about Jesus Christ, and reject teachings that deny His incarnation.

2 John teaches that faith is believing in God and actively walking with Him in daily life. Life with God often includes struggles and uncertainty, yet those challenges are opportunities for spiritual growth. True Christian love is rooted in truth. It's not about being “nice,” but about living and loving as Jesus did, with obedience, forgiveness, and unity.

Today we're trashing feminism some more, because it obviously deserves it. Feminism is not only unbiblical, it's extremely destructive for all of society. We'll talk about why Christian podcasters like Allie Beth Stuckey shouldn't defend their feminism while claiming to follow Christ, and why Christianity itself is a patriarchy, by God's design. It's time for biblical men to stop waiting for permission from feminists and take back the authority God gave them. We'll also discuss more of the Trump administration's mistakes, including this ridiculous new 50-year mortgage idea that proves how far from wisdom our leaders have fallen.

Recently there are those who have argued that Jesus affirmed transgender identity using Matthew 19:12 (about eunuchs). In Matt 19:12 Jesus was discussing marriage and celibacy after teaching on divorce, not gender identity. Maximum glory comes from two distinct but equal genders working together, not from one gender or multiple genders. Like all things, we need both truth and compassion; we need to step away from harsh judgment and from uncritical acceptance. Letting feelings determine reality does not ultimately lead to the flourishing of life. As Christians, we must speak truth in love, support struggling individuals in community, and model healthy gender expression while recognizing that all people bear God's image and need His grace.
