On this episode of BSTV Ya Boi Shad & G. Downs sat down with one of Hollywood's best TV actors. They sat down with Omar Gooding. Omar gave them one of if not the best interview in the short lifespan of BSTV. he talked about being poor and homeless with his mom and his dad being in the band and the lead singer of Maine a gradient Cuba Gooding Sr. He also talked about being an unexpected child and what it was like growing up being the brother of Hollywood star Cuba Gooding Jr. He also spoke on getting his first role in the movie Ghost Dad with legendary comedian Bill Cosby and what it was like to work with him. He also spoke about how his brother Cuba Gooding Junior was kicked off the set of ghost that by legendary academy award winning actor Sydney Portier for giving him pointers during the movie. After that he spoke on how he got the role for wild and crazy kids on Nickelodeon and how he made himself stand out over the other kids who were going out for the role. He also talked about what it was like being a child TV star and how he adapted to Hollywood expectations. He also spoke on how he got a roll on the hit TV show Webster with Emmanuel Lewis. He also spoke on the deeper side of his upbringing and avoiding gang activity because he had good people around him to guide him in the right direction. After that he spoke on his brother winning the academy award for the movie Jerry Maguire and how he did not expect him to win due to Hollywood not giving black actors Academy awards in high volume back in the 90s. Then he spoke on getting the role in the hit TV show hangin with Mr. Cooper and how Mark Curry inspired him with his timing and acting and how Mark Curry saved him from getting fired from the show due to an incident that happened outside of filming. He also spoke on the Kat Williams interview on Club Shay Shay and Kat's allegations against Steve Harvey on wether or no Steve stole the concept of the Steve Harvey show from Hangin with Mr. Cooper. Then he spoke on getting the role on the hit TV show smart guy and why the show ended and he also spoke on what happened to That Mowry after the show ended. After that he spoke on getting the role Sweetpea for Baby Boy and wether or not it was any pressure playing the role and being in a John Singleton file due to the fact his brother was in arguably the greatest John Singleton film of all time with Boyz n the Hood. He also talked about his non existent relationship with Tyrese during the filming of the movie and how they almost came to blows at his house because he didn't want to hang out with him. He also spoke on a fight during filming with him and after Ving Rhames. After that he spoke on how he started dating his on screen girlfriend at the time Angell Conwell in real life. He also spoke on how Snoop Dogg gave him words of encouragement and how the developed a great relationship. Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth Interview with Sanford K. Sanford, Son of Isabel Sanford, Star of “The Jeffersons” About Harvey's guests: Today's guest, Sanford K. For our November show, we got a chance to link with prolific much loved disco singer Christine Wiltshire - all the way from Amsterdam! Check out Hans R. de Vries bio below for all the facts on the much accomplished songbird and take a listen to our two hour interview as Christine shares some of the memories from Disco's Golden Age! Singer Christine Wiltshire , originally a native of Brooklyn, New York started her professional career as in the Luther Vandross quintet LUTHER in 1976 and broke through internationally with the Patrick Adams's group MUSIQUE by 1978 with international hits as "In The Bush" and "Keep On Jumpin' ", which resulted in a Gold Record for album Musique and her group was nominated Billboard's “Best Girl Group” as part of the group “Musique” in 1978. She also composed for the group. Allthough not on the record cover of Alphonse Mouzon's produced group POUSSEZ! Christine did all (lead-) vocals for that project. Hits: "Come On And Do It" and "Never Gonna Say Goodbye". She got her biggest hit song with "Weekend", originally recorded by Patrick Adams' studio group Phreek of which Wiltshire was a member. The song was heavily played by Larry Levan yet it was commercially unavailable so it did not enter any charts 1n 1976. In the early 1980s, William Socolov, the co-owner of Sleeping Bag Records, invited Levan to make a new version of "Weekend". It became more successful than the original version, peaking at No. 54 on the British pop chart and No. 9 on the Billboard Dance chart in 1983. And in 2016 "Weekend" is again re-released with Blaqhol Remixes and has entered some European charts. Christine Wiltshire toured around the world with a.o. Luther Vandross, Zulema, Disco Tex and the Sex-O-Lettes, Samantha Sang, The Marvelettes & Marianne Faithful. As a session singer she can be heard on recordings by a.o.Lou Reed (female vocals on "Walk On The Wild Side"), Melba Moore, Keith Richards (of Rolling Stones), John Phillips (of Mamas and Papas), John Lennon (of Beatles) & Yoko Ono, Jocelyn Brown, Zulema, Candi Staton, Lolitta Holloway, Eddie Kendricks (of The Temptations), Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Herbie Mann, Latoya Jackson, Cuba Gooding Sr.and Robert Palmer. Through the years Christine now also developed herself as a Jazz and Standards singer and she performs songs from The Great American Songbook at Supper Clubs and intimate venues, next to her work as a Pop and former Disco singer. ​​​​​​​
