The Rickey Smiley Morning Show brings the heat for a full hour — starting with an opening prayer, breaking news on Trump's strikes on Iran, and Donovan Mitchell's mind-blowing $273 million Cleveland deal (is LeBron next?). Brat Tat Tat reports on Bone Thugs-N-Harmony finally getting their Hollywood Walk of Fame star, while Tristan Thompson can't stop talking about Klay Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion. Gary With the T drops tea on Jay-Z's sold-out Yankee Stadium concerts possibly looking half empty thanks to bots and resellers — and somehow blames Beyoncé washing his hair for it. Jeff Johnson breaks down Trump blocking Harriet Tubman from the $20 bill while pushing his own face onto a $250 bill. Then things get serious: veteran radio host Big Tigger reportedly stepped away from his show after an aggravated battery arrest, and his wife is facing a kidnapping warrant for a child the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children still lists as missing. Licensed therapist Spirit joins Rickey live to unpack toxic relationships, drop jaw-dropping domestic violence stats, and get emotional on air — leading to Rickey gifting her a spa day on the spot. Plus, Charles Barkley turned down Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding invite, Ginuwine got engaged at 55, and the crew debates whether Chris Brown kissing fans on stage during the Usher tour is romantic or just unsanitary. Black Tony also calls in with the most elaborate excuse for not coming to work you've ever heard. All four hours, one feed — don't miss a second.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

fWotD Episode 3349: Destiny's Child Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia's finest articles. The featured article for Monday, 6 July 2026, is Destiny's Child.Destiny's Child was an American girl group formed in Houston, Texas, in 1990. Its final lineup comprised Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams. Known for their vocal harmonies, stage performances, and themes of female empowerment, Destiny's Child is regarded as one of the most influential girl groups in popular music. Integral to the girl group resurgence of the 1990s, they are credited with helping shape the sound of contemporary R&B and contributing to the emergence of rap-singing.The group began their musical career as Girl's Tyme. After years of limited success, the original quartet—Beyoncé, Rowland, LaTavia Roberson, and LeToya Luckett—were signed to Columbia Records in 1996 as Destiny's Child, gaining recognition with the single "No, No, No". They then released their best-selling second album, The Writing's on the Wall (1999), which spawned the US Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles "Bills, Bills, Bills" and "Say My Name". Despite critical and commercial success, the group was plagued by internal conflict and legal turmoil, as Roberson and Luckett attempted to split from the group's manager, Mathew Knowles, due to his favoritism of his daughter Beyoncé and Rowland, who had lived with the family in her youth. In early 2000, both Roberson and Luckett were replaced by Williams and Farrah Franklin; Franklin quit after a few months, leaving the group as a trio. The group's third album, Survivor (2001), drew on the internal conflicts and lineup changes, yielding the US number-one singles "Independent Women" and "Bootylicious". After releasing the Christmas album 8 Days of Christmas (2001), Destiny's Child announced a hiatus so that each member could pursue a solo career. They reunited to release their fifth and final album, Destiny Fulfilled (2004), which produced the US top-three singles "Lose My Breath" and "Soldier".Since the group officially disbanded in 2006, Beyoncé, Rowland, and Williams have reunited several times, including at the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show, the 2018 Coachella festival, and the final show of the Cowboy Carter Tour (2025). Destiny's Child is one of the best-selling girl groups of all time, with estimated sales of over 60 million records. The group received many accolades, including three Grammy Awards, eleven Billboard Music Awards, five American Music Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Billboard named the final lineup of Destiny's Child one of the greatest musical trios of all time. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:11 UTC on Monday, 6 July 2026.For the full current version of the article, see Destiny's Child on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm standard Joanna.

JJ and his sister Chrissy wake up at 3:30 in the morning, fly from Fargo to Minneapolis to Los Angeles, visit the Warner Bros. Studio Tour, stop by Hollywood landmarks like the Dolby Theatre, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the TCL Chinese Theatre, the Roosevelt Hotel, and the El Capitan Theatre, and then head to Inglewood for a one-of-a-kind dome screening of the first Harry Potter movie. The episode digs into what makes the Cosm Harry Potter experience feel different from IMAX, 3D, VR, or traditional moviegoing. JJ describes the huge dome screen, the expanded Hogwarts environments, the flying Hogwarts letters, the Quidditch match, floating candles in the Great Hall, and the idea of "shared reality" as a new way to experience movies with an audience. JJ and Tucker also talk about the future of immersive cinema, whether movies like The Matrix, Jurassic Park, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Wizard of Oz, and Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey would work in formats like Cosm or IMAX, and why familiar movies might be the perfect fit for this kind of expanded theatrical presentation.

For many years, he sought out Grand Cru Vineyards from owners that have been selling for generations and decided to work with Paul Berthelot, a Multi-Vintage Grand Cru Producer since 1884. Kool & the Gang, officially launched in 1969, after performing for five years under various band titles, has influenced the music of three generations and the band has become true recording industry legends. Thanks to iconic songs like Celebration, Cherish, Jungle Boogie, Summer Madness and Open Sesame, they've earned two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, 25 Top Ten R&B hits, nine Top Ten Pop hits and 31 gold and platinum albumsIn 1969, Kool & the Gang released their self-titled debut album/ It was the introduction to a theme, music is the message, that Kool & the Gang stands by today. The instrumental album was an expression of their deep love of music. It was also an introduction to their signature sound and the fierce horn arrangements created by Khalis, Dee Tee, and Spike. Their debut album spawned their first Billboard R&B charted single Kool & the Gang and later Let the Music Take Your Mind. In 1970, their audacious sophomore set Live at the Sex Machine peaked at #6 on Billboard's R&B chart and yielded three hit singles: Funky Man, Who's Gonna Take the Weight, and I Want to Take You Higher. Next came The Best Of Kool & the Gang Featuring The Penguin, Kool & the Gang Live at PJ'S, Music Is The Message, and Good Times, all of which helped solidify a sound that wowed not only fans but such contemporaries as James Brown and Nina Simone.e 80's would see them dominate the mainstream, starting with the double platinum-selling album Celebrate (driven by the international monster hit Celebration, which spent six weeks atop the R&B chart and became a #1 Pop single). Celebration, which played as the American hostages returned from Iran, remains de rigueur at joyous occasions worldwide. The smashes Get Down On It, Take My Heart, Let's Go Dancing, Joanna, Tonight, Misled, the #1 R&B, #2 Pop giant Cherish and the #1 R&B anthem Fresh (these last three from the multi- platinum LP Emergency) solidified the group's international stardom. Kool & the Gang landed global commercial endorsements, supported countless charitable causes and were the only American group to participate in Band Aid's 1984 Do They Know It's Christmas project for famine victims in Africa. With the explosion of hip-hop in the 90's, Kool & the Gang's incredible catalog of grooves made them DJ favorites. They were second only to R&B icon James Brown as sources of rap music samples. Today, the group enjoys global fame and recognition and a following that spans generations due in part to the groups widely sampled catalogue.© 2026 Building Abundant Success!!2026 All Rights ReservedJoin Me on ~ iHeart Media @ https://tinyurl.com/iHeartBASSpot Me on Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/yxuy23baAmazon Music ~ https://tinyurl.com/AmzBASAudacy:  https://tinyurl.com/BASAud

TRACI BRIMHALL is a university distinguished professor of creative writing at Kansas State University, as well as the 2025 Poet-in-Residence at the Guggenheim. She is the author of five collections of poetry, most recently Love Prodigal (Copper Canyon Press, 2024). Her nonfiction debut, The Grief Artist, will be published by Sarabande Books in 2026. Known for her poems that often marry the ordinary with the surreal, Brimhall's work has appeared widely in journals and magazines such as The New Yorker, Orion, The Atlantic, The New Republic, Poetry, The Nation, and The New York Times Magazine. Through fellowships with the National Endowment of the Arts, National Park Service, and Academy of American Poets she's taught writing workshops in farm schools, art museums, libraries, medical communities, and the outdoors. She's also received a Karnes Fellowships through Purdue Library's Special Collections to study the lost poem drafts of Amelia Earhart. She is the current poet laureate of Kansas, where her initiatives have centered on uniting the state's agricultural roots with the literary arts. Through poetry cookbooks, food-based mad lib poems, and bringing poetry to the State Fair, her literary arts advocacy seeks ways to bring the nourishment of language to all Kansans. As Poet Laureate of Kansas, Brimhall will conduct public readings, workshops, lectures, and presentations that serve communities across the state. Her plans for the laureateship will focus on connecting with Kansans through the shared experience of language, Kansas' agricultural roots, and food. “I am delighted to serve Kansas as the next Poet Laureate,” Professor Traci Brimhall said. “I love connecting with others and building community, and I can't wait for the next few years of celebrating creativity in the Sunflower State.” As the Poet Laureate of Kansas, Traci promotes arts as a public resource to all Kansans. Currently, Traci offers two prepared talks as laureate: WHY CAN'T THE HEART STOP ASKING? Poetry is an art of attention. But sometimes the more attention we pay to the world, the more astonishing and confusing it can be. The medical researcher Jonas Salk said: “What people think of as the moment of discovery is really the discovery of the question.” I believe this also holds true for poetry. What images do we see each day that excite our minds? What sounds do we hear that awaken our hearts? What poems ask for our attention and reward us with discovery? This presentation will use poetry to create surprises, explore our curiosities, and find new questions. MEMORY FEAST In so many communities there is an appetite to find language for our experiences and connect with others. Joyce Carol Oates said: “If food is poetry, is not poetry also food?” I believe cuisine can be a link to open a memory, a great way to connect with those we love, and a source of inspiration for poetry. This presentation will use poetry to connect us both with our senses in daily activities as well as help us recall memories that remind us of family, culture and community. Poetry can be a place of nourishment, a bounty of the sensory, a feast of words. The above programs are designed for a roughly 60-minute time frame but can be adjusted if necessary. Traci may be able to accommodate other program or appearance requests, but priority will be given for the listed programs. For over a century, Alfred Hitchcock has remained one of cinema’s most influential directors. Known as the Master of Suspense, this visionary filmmaker directed more than fifty films over six decades. His thriller “The Lodger” (1927) marked the start of his signature style, which was later exemplified in classic films like “Vertigo” (1958), “North by Northwest” (1959), “Psycho” (1960), and “The Birds” (1963). Hitchcock’s work received tremendous success and critical acclaim. While he never won the competitive Academy Award for Best Director, he received five Oscar nominations, two Golden Globes, the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, a BAFTA Fellowship, multiple lifetime achievement awards, and two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Nine of his films are preserved in the United States National Film Registry. His mastery of tension, innovative camera techniques, and psychological depth continue to inspire and influence modern filmmakers such as Christopher Nolan, Jordan Peele, and Bong Joon Ho. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NUJN1fq0Sc Drawing on new archival research, previously unpublished interviews, and a rigorous examination of key biographies, “A Century of Hitchcock” challenges the long-standing narratives that have shaped Hitchcock’s legacy. Author Tony Lee Moral revisits controversial claims regarding Hitchcock’s alleged abuses, scrutinizing biographer Donald Spoto’s interpretations—particularly Spoto’s portrayal of the director’s relationship with actress Tippi Hedren. With his analysis of Spoto’s 1980 interview of Hedren, Moral reveals for the first time how one key document contradicts decades of exaggeration. In this comprehensive reappraisal of Hitchcock’s career, Moral encourages readers to explore the complexities of creative collaboration and the risks of relying on a single biographical narrative. Marking one hundred years since Hitchcock’s first film, “The Pleasure Garden”, and fifty years since his last film, “Family Plot”, Moral reexamines the director’s cinematic brilliance, storytelling mastery, creative partnerships, and controversies, offering a fresh perspective on Hitchcock’s legacy in the post-#MeToo era.

This episode is sponsored by smartwater®Ruth E. Carter is a trailblazing costume designer known for her work on Malcolm X, the Black Panther films, Sinners, and so many more iconic works. She has been awarded Academy Awards, a BAFTA, a Critics Choice Award, the Costume Designers Guild Award, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But before that, she was exploring Black literature and history in Black Studies-focused enrichment programs in her home state of Massachusetts. When she was a young adult, she was deconstructing clothing and taking notes from grunge scenes, citing Lisa Bonet and Madonna as early beauty and style inspiration. In our conversation, Ruth walks us through her life and career, explaining how the girl who dressed like a grunge artist would introduce Afrofuturism to the world. During our chat, Ruth tells us about how she has always drawn on her interest in literary, dramatic, and visual arts to design on film sets. She shared the initial culture shock she experienced at her HBCU, Hampton, and how the theater department helped her blend her artistic sensibilities with the coiffed presentation of her classmates. Ruth detailed how she drew on these experiences in her first position in School Daze, and how her dedication led to the first of many creative collaborations with directors like Spike Lee, which would shape her career. Our conversation ranges from the specific way she employs the lessons her psychologist mother taught her, like gaining and keeping people's trust, to spending time with Tina Turner. We discussed so much of her portfolio, and what compelled her to begin archiving her designs, which now make up the traveling exhibition “Ruth E. Carter: Afrofuturism in Costume Design.” Ruth is open about her painstakingly detailed commitment to historical accuracy and how her early exposure to ideas about the future being a site of freedom and exploration shaped the visual identity for Black Panther. A Uhaul trailer went missing for 14 years and just showed back up out of the blue, Man accused of using chainsaw to break into store to steal $12,000 worth of Pokemon cards, homemade cannon found in car after routine traffic stop.  After the UHAUL showed up, anna has a lot of questions. She can also add in her personal experience, with her husband's college Uhaul story. What's your Uhaul  story?  Am I close is back with the smartest person in the room, Producer Justin! Today, Anna and Raven see how much they really know about the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Do you know more than Anna & Raven?  How often should you replace your underwear? If you guessed every 6-12 months, you're correct. If you actually do though, you're either rich or crazy! What's your oldest pair?  A 14-year-old is running for governor in Vermont. Anna... was not. She was doing something far more important. Raven on the other hand was doing nothing but causing trouble in his mid-teens.  It's the second to last week of FIT-BY-50! Boss Keith's big 50th is coming up in just one week and his goal is to be 185 pounds. He hasn't made much progress, but maybe things changed this week! What strange thing do you find hot on somebody? Anna reads the top 5 list and they are a bit surprised. Some normal, some strange, some have you turning your head.  Arlo drained her fish tank and claims that he took his wife, Sara's,  fish and gave them away. They live in a small apartment and it's her fish tank. She never cleans it, the whole place smells from the tank, and he's asked her many, many times to clean it, replace it- whatever. He finally said that if she didn't rectify the situation, he was going to take care of it himself. Sara's so mad that he gave away her fish, and she's not even sure if he's telling the truth about giving away the fish or if he just flushed them. He says that she had a timeline and didn't do it, she says they're married, he's not her father and she's not a child. Who was in the wrong?   Jeremy has a chance to win $1,400! All he has to do is answer more pop culture questions than Raven in Can't Beat Raven!

The long-awaited memoir from country music legend, Clint Black-a raw, intimate, and unflinching story that traces his rise from struggling songwriter to chart-topping superstar and enduring music legend.Over twenty million records sold. Twenty-two number one career singles. 31 top ten singles. Nearly two dozen gold and platinum awards. Countless CMA and ACM awards. A Grammy Award. A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. When it comes to modern music, few artists have had a bigger or more lasting impact than Clint Black. Since bursting onto the country music scene in 1989 with Killin' Time-the triple-platinum debut that delivered five consecutive number one singles-Black has built a genre-defining career spanning nearly four decades. Having written the soundtrack of a generation, Clint now puts pen to paper to write, for the first time, the story of the man behind the music. In his long-awaited memoir, Black shares the unfiltered, extraordinary account of his journey from a kid with a dream on the outskirts of Houston to a country music legend. From his near-death experiences as a young boy, to his decision to drop out of high school to pursue music, to countless years struggling as an unknown young artist, playing at any nightclub or hotel bar that would have him, Black's path to success had more twists than the Texas two-step.Once fame hit and the stakes got higher, Black didn't let the pressure of big crowds, big money, or big labels steer him off course. By writing from the heart and sticking to his guns, he built a legacy on his own terms. These values proved to be Black's north star navigating superstardom, including a difficult lawsuit against his ex-manager, Bill Ham; subsequently founding his own record label; recording with heroes such as Jimmy Buffett, Merle Haggard, and Eric Idle; his whirlwind romance and everlasting marriage with actress Lisa Hartman Black; and most recently, a critical issue with a cervical spine injury, which threatened the very thing that made him a star: his voice. With vivid, deeply personal stories-all told with Black's signature charm-he recounts how his steadfast dedication to his beliefs and his passion for music led him to success after success, and through storm after storm. For longtime fans and newcomers alike, Killin' Time is a revelatory and rare glimpse of the iconic life and career of a once in a generation talent.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.

For over a century, Alfred Hitchcock has remained one of cinema's most influential directors. Known as the Master of Suspense, this visionary filmmaker directed more than fifty films over six decades. His thriller The Lodger (1927) marked the start of his signature style, which was later exemplified in classic films like Vertigo (1958), North by Northwest (1959), Psycho (1960), and The Birds (1963). Hitchcock's work received tremendous success and critical acclaim. Drawing on new archival research, previously unpublished interviews, and a rigorous examination of key biographies, A Century of Hitchcock: The Man, the Myths, the Legacy (University Press of Kentucky, 2026) challenges the long-standing narratives that have shaped Hitchcock's legacy. Author Tony Lee Moral revisits controversial claims regarding Hitchcock's alleged abuses, scrutinizing biographer Donald Spoto's interpretations—particularly Spoto's portrayal of the director's relationship with actress Tippi Hedren. With his analysis of Spoto's 1980 interview of Hedren, Moral reveals for the first time how one key document contradicts decades of exaggeration. In this comprehensive reappraisal of Hitchcock's career, Moral encourages readers to explore the complexities of creative collaboration and the risks of relying on a single biographical narrative. Marking one hundred years since Hitchcock's first film, The Pleasure Garden, and fifty years since his last film, Family Plot, Moral reexamines the director's cinematic brilliance, storytelling mastery, creative partnerships, and controversies, offering a fresh perspective on Hitchcock's legacy in the post-#MeToo era. Tony Lee Moral is a British filmmaker and author who specializes in film history, especially the work of Alfred Hitchcock. He is the author of Hitchcock and the Making of Marnie, The Making of Hitchcock's The Birds, The Young Alfred Hitchcock's Moviemaking Master Class, and Alfred Hitchcock Storyboards. For longtime fans and newcomers alike, Killin' Time is a revelatory and rare glimpse of the iconic life and career of a once in a generation talent.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.
