Adam Hurrey is joined on the Adjudication Panel by Charlie Eccleshare, David Walker and James Maw. On the agenda: how the BBC & ITV's tournament has gone so far, Simon Jordan treats a basic World Cup question with the disdain only Simon Jordan could, the genuine majesty of the Azteca Stadium, the very moment this World Cup "burst into life", FIFA's condiment censorship, Brazil get the customary broadcasting greeting and Tom Cruise unveils David Beckham's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Meanwhile, the panel imagine what a club "laughing off" a bid for a player would actually sound like and find a new level of "tenuous official club DVD". There have been numerous headlines over the past few days of Brad Pitt’s children dropping Pitt from their last names. So far, 3 of his 6 children have legally pursued their name changes, with his twins dropping Pitt’s name from their diplomas and playbills. We go over the only public statement one of his children has made as to the status of their relationship, and it’s brutal. Much like the situation with David Beckham and his eldest son, Brooklyn, who was a no show at Beckham’s big moment in LA this week, getting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Beckham had the perfect response to reporters who asked about Brooklyn’s absence following that eviscerating instagram post he made about his parents earlier this year. This episode is sponsored by smartwater®Ruth E. Carter is a trailblazing costume designer known for her work on Malcolm X, the Black Panther films, Sinners, and so many more iconic works. She has been awarded Academy Awards, a BAFTA, a Critics Choice Award, the Costume Designers Guild Award, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But before that, she was exploring Black literature and history in Black Studies-focused enrichment programs in her home state of Massachusetts. When she was a young adult, she was deconstructing clothing and taking notes from grunge scenes, citing Lisa Bonet and Madonna as early beauty and style inspiration. In our conversation, Ruth walks us through her life and career, explaining how the girl who dressed like a grunge artist would introduce Afrofuturism to the world. During our chat, Ruth tells us about how she has always drawn on her interest in literary, dramatic, and visual arts to design on film sets. She shared the initial culture shock she experienced at her HBCU, Hampton, and how the theater department helped her blend her artistic sensibilities with the coiffed presentation of her classmates. Ruth detailed how she drew on these experiences in her first position in School Daze, and how her dedication led to the first of many creative collaborations with directors like Spike Lee, which would shape her career. Our conversation ranges from the specific way she employs the lessons her psychologist mother taught her, like gaining and keeping people's trust, to spending time with Tina Turner. We discussed so much of her portfolio, and what compelled her to begin archiving her designs, which now make up the traveling exhibition “Ruth E. Carter: Afrofuturism in Costume Design.” Ruth is open about her painstakingly detailed commitment to historical accuracy and how her early exposure to ideas about the future being a site of freedom and exploration shaped the visual identity for Black Panther. The long-awaited memoir from country music legend, Clint Black-a raw, intimate, and unflinching story that traces his rise from struggling songwriter to chart-topping superstar and enduring music legend.Over twenty million records sold. Twenty-two number one career singles. 31 top ten singles. Nearly two dozen gold and platinum awards. Countless CMA and ACM awards. A Grammy Award. A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. When it comes to modern music, few artists have had a bigger or more lasting impact than Clint Black. Since bursting onto the country music scene in 1989 with Killin' Time-the triple-platinum debut that delivered five consecutive number one singles-Black has built a genre-defining career spanning nearly four decades. Having written the soundtrack of a generation, Clint now puts pen to paper to write, for the first time, the story of the man behind the music. In his long-awaited memoir, Black shares the unfiltered, extraordinary account of his journey from a kid with a dream on the outskirts of Houston to a country music legend. From his near-death experiences as a young boy, to his decision to drop out of high school to pursue music, to countless years struggling as an unknown young artist, playing at any nightclub or hotel bar that would have him, Black's path to success had more twists than the Texas two-step.Once fame hit and the stakes got higher, Black didn't let the pressure of big crowds, big money, or big labels steer him off course. By writing from the heart and sticking to his guns, he built a legacy on his own terms. These values proved to be Black's north star navigating superstardom, including a difficult lawsuit against his ex-manager, Bill Ham; subsequently founding his own record label; recording with heroes such as Jimmy Buffett, Merle Haggard, and Eric Idle; his whirlwind romance and everlasting marriage with actress Lisa Hartman Black; and most recently, a critical issue with a cervical spine injury, which threatened the very thing that made him a star: his voice. With vivid, deeply personal stories-all told with Black's signature charm-he recounts how his steadfast dedication to his beliefs and his passion for music led him to success after success, and through storm after storm. For longtime fans and newcomers alike, Killin' Time is a revelatory and rare glimpse of the iconic life and career of a once in a generation talent.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.
For over a century, Alfred Hitchcock has remained one of cinema's most influential directors. Known as the Master of Suspense, this visionary filmmaker directed more than fifty films over six decades. His thriller The Lodger (1927) marked the start of his signature style, which was later exemplified in classic films like Vertigo (1958), North by Northwest (1959), Psycho (1960), and The Birds (1963). Hitchcock's work received tremendous success and critical acclaim. While he never won the competitive Academy Award for Best Director, he received five Oscar nominations, two Golden Globes, the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, a BAFTA Fellowship, multiple lifetime achievement awards, and two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Nine of his films are preserved in the United States National Film Registry. His mastery of tension, innovative camera techniques, and psychological depth continue to inspire and influence modern filmmakers such as Christopher Nolan, Jordan Peele, and Bong Joon Ho. Drawing on new archival research, previously unpublished interviews, and a rigorous examination of key biographies, A Century of Hitchcock: The Man, the Myths, the Legacy (University Press of Kentucky, 2026) challenges the long-standing narratives that have shaped Hitchcock's legacy. Author Tony Lee Moral revisits controversial claims regarding Hitchcock's alleged abuses, scrutinizing biographer Donald Spoto's interpretations—particularly Spoto's portrayal of the director's relationship with actress Tippi Hedren. With his analysis of Spoto's 1980 interview of Hedren, Moral reveals for the first time how one key document contradicts decades of exaggeration. In this comprehensive reappraisal of Hitchcock's career, Moral encourages readers to explore the complexities of creative collaboration and the risks of relying on a single biographical narrative. Marking one hundred years since Hitchcock's first film, The Pleasure Garden, and fifty years since his last film, Family Plot, Moral reexamines the director's cinematic brilliance, storytelling mastery, creative partnerships, and controversies, offering a fresh perspective on Hitchcock's legacy in the post-#MeToo era. Tony Lee Moral is a British filmmaker and author who specializes in film history, especially the work of Alfred Hitchcock. He is the author of Hitchcock and the Making of Marnie, The Making of Hitchcock's The Birds, The Young Alfred Hitchcock's Moviemaking Master Class, and Alfred Hitchcock Storyboards. Morteza Hajizadeh is a Ph.D. graduate in English from the University of Auckland in New Zealand. His research interests are Cultural Studies; Critical Theory; Environmental History; Medieval (Intellectual) History; Gothic Studies; 18th- and 19th-century British Literature. For longtime fans and newcomers alike, Killin' Time is a revelatory and rare glimpse of the iconic life and career of a once in a generation talent.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

Together, we reflect on our shared participation in PurpleStride, the nationwide walk to fight pancreatic cancer, and the powerful community that continues to push research forward. Jonathan shares insights into advances in treatment, the work of PanCAN, and why this cause remains deeply personal to him. From there, we dive into the world of Star Trek: the creative energy behind Starfleet Academy, Jonathan's experience directing the milestone episode “300th Night,” and the emotional weight of the season finale “Rubicon.” We also lament the current pause in new Star Trek productions—a moment of uncertainty for fans and creators alike The conversation expands into Jonathan's admiration for his longtime friend Noah Wyle, including his role as emcee at Noah's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. We also bond over our shared love of For All Mankind, and I take a moment to sing the praises of Star City, celebrating its world‑building and emotional depth. This episode blends advocacy, fandom, friendship, and storytelling into one inspiring journey. I mourn the passing of one of SyFy Sistas, Subrina Wood due to Pancreatic Cancer. Hi everyone. I'm Kanika Chadda Gupta. I'm a television journalist, podcast host of “That's Total Mom Sense,” wife and mom of three. I am having a fangirl moment right now because I am with the beautiful, talented singer, songwriter, actress, and author who has grown up alongside us. She's been singing her whole life and began her musical career as a founding member of Destiny's Child and here we are with children of our own. I'm about to “say her name, say her name.” Kelly Rowland is an American singer, performer, songwriter, actress, and television personality. She rose to fame in the late 1990s as a member of Destiny's Child, one of the world's best-selling girl groups of all time. She soon released her debut solo studio album, Simply Deep in 2002, debuting at #1 on the UK Albums Chart and sold over 3 million copies worldwide. Rowland eventually became a judge on the eighth season of The X Factor (UK version), as well as the 3rd season of The X Factor (USA) in 2013. She has continued her television career by hosting Chasing Destiny, and starred as a coach on The Voice (Australia). Throughout her career, Rowland has sold 40M+ records as a solo artist, and an additional 60M+ records with Destiny's Child. She's won 4 Grammy Awards, 1 Billboard Music Award, and 2 Soul Train Music Awards — she's also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as part of Destiny's Child, and as a solo artist, she has been honored by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers and Essence for her contributions to music. In 2014, Fuse ranked Rowland in their "100 Most Award-Winning Artists" list. Kelly and her husband Tim Weatherspoon have two sons, Titan and Noah. In 2022, she released her children's book, Always with You, Always with Me.
