Das erinnert uns an eine wichtige Wahrheit: Wir alle stehen mit unserem Glauben auf breiten und starken Schultern! – Hätten nicht Menschen vor uns an Jesus Christus geglaubt und uns an ihrem Glauben Anteil nehmen lassen, dann wäre keiner von uns heute ein gläubiger Christ. Die lebendige Kette dieser Glaubensgemeinschaft reicht gerade in Köln weit zurück, und die hl. Ursula und ihre Gefährtinnen nehmen darin eine ganz ausgezeichnete Stelle ein. Nun kennen wir vermutlich den Einwand: Wie können vernünftige Menschen im 21. Jahrhundert eine Tradition weiter pflegen, deren historische Ursprünge sich im Dickicht von Legenden verlieren? Aus dem Leben der Frauen, die in Köln unter dem Namen Ursula und ihrer Gefährtinnen verehrt werden, wissen wir tatsächlich ziemlich wenig, das sich mit Sicherheit belegen lässt. – Was wir sagen können, ist: Sehr wahrscheinlich schon im 4. Jh., allerspätestens aber im 8. Jh. hat es dort, wo heute die Kirche St. Ursula steht, bereits ein sehr viel älteres Kirchengebäude und regelmäßige Gottesdienste gegeben, in denen eine Gruppe von Jungfrauen verehrt worden ist, die für Jesus Christus ihr Leben hingegeben haben. Es kommen also gläubige Christen seit mindestens 1200 Jahren dorthin und wenden sich mit Gebeten und Liedern an diese Märtyrer. Die eindrucksvolle Kirche steht damit an einem Ort, der durch das Begräbnis und die liturgische Verehrung von Glaubenszeugen aus der frühen Zeit der Kirche geheiligt ist. Die Legende, die dann im Laufe der Zeit nähere Umstände dieses Zeugnisses weiter ausgeführt hat, ist nicht einfach fromme Phantasterei, sondern stellt in sich die geronnene Glaubenserfahrung vieler christlicher Generationen dar. Legenden fallen nicht vom Himmel, sondern wachsen aus historischen Ereignissen heraus. Das, was in den Texten und auf Bildern über das Leben der hl. Ursula beschrieben wird, ist kein historischer Bericht, sondern eine beispielhafte Erzählung, in der sich das widerspiegelt, was die Christen damals geglaubt und wie sie gelebt haben. Sicher sieht unser Alltag heute in vielerlei Hinsicht ganz anders aus als vor 1000 und mehr Jahren. Wir wissen z.B. in naturwissenschaftlich-technischer Hinsicht vieles, was zu früheren Zeiten nicht bekannt war. – Und dennoch können uns die hl. Märtyrer von Köln und ihre legendarische Darstellung eine Menge Wesentliches sagen. Jetzt nur ein Punkt: Ursula und ihre Märtyrerschar veranschaulichen beispielhaft das, was Du Jesus im Evangelium den Aposteln und damit der ganzen Kirche angekündigt hast: Der Widerstand gegen das Evangelium und der Hass gegen Christus und die Kirche, das ist kein Phänomen, über das wir erstaunt sein sollten. „Wenn die Welt euch hasst, dann wisst, dass sie mich schon vor euch gehasst hat“, sagst Du den Aposteln und damit auch uns Christen heute. Die „Welt“, das sind im Sprachgebrauch des Evangelisten Johannes nicht einfach alle Menschen, sondern das sind die Personen und Kräfte, die Gott und seinem Bund mit den Menschen feindlich gegenüber stehen. Zur Zeit, auf welche die Legende der hl. Ursula schaut, waren die heidnischen Hunnen die Personifikation dieser gottfeindlichen Welt. Im Leben des Apostels Petrus waren es diejenigen, die die Christen im römischen Reich verfolgten. Heutzutage sind es diejenigen, die in verschiedenen Teilen der Welt insgesamt ca. 200 Millionen unserer Brüder und Schwestern um ihres Glaubens an Jesus Christus willen verfolgen. Das sind 80% all der Menschen, die überhaupt um ihrer religiösen Bekenntnisses willen schwere Nachteile und Ungerechtigkeiten zu erleiden haben. Wir sehen also: Die Bedrängnis und die Verfolgung der Christen ist nicht der Ausnahme-, sondern in gewisser Weise der Normalzustand hier auf Erden. Dass uns also heute – auch hierzulande – der Wind wieder stärker ins Gesicht weht, das ist kein Grund, sich zu wundern. Denn, Jesus, dein Aufruf zur Umkehr ist immer unbequem und wird nie nur auf offene Ohren stoßen, solange die Folgen der Erbsünde in uns spürbar sind. Es ist eben nicht so, wie uns heute oft eingeredet werden soll, dass der Mensch nach der Erbsünde so wie er heutzutage in die Welt tritt, neutral oder gänzlich gut ist. Wir tragen vielmehr in unserer menschlichen Natur die Schlagseite, die Tendenz zur Auflehnung gegen Gott in uns – und diese Beeinträchtigung unserer Natur bedarf der Hilfe Gottes. Die Sakramente sind daher keine mehr oder weniger überflüssigen Ladenhüter im verstaubten Traditionsschrank der Kirche, sondern notwendige Heil- und Hilfsmittel für uns, um den steilen Weg der Wahrheit und der Liebe gehen zu können. Das verkündet die Kirche nicht, um sich wichtig zu machen, sondern weil es ihr von Dir, Herr, dem Schöpfer und Erlöser des Menschen aufgetragen ist. Nicht das, was die Mehrheit tut, ist an sich schon immer richtig und gut, sondern das, was der Wahrheit entspricht, die Jesus Christus ist und die Du uns vorgelebt hast. Dass die Mehrheit nicht automatisch das Wahre und Richtige erkennt, das sollten wir aus jenen unseligen Jahren des sog. Dritten Reiches ja eigentlich gelernt haben. So ist z.B. die Entscheidung um Jesu willen ehelos zu leben, der sich in der Legende der hl. Ursula findet, immer schon auf Unverständnis und auch auf Spott und Ablehnung der Welt gestoßen. Aber ebenso ist der Anspruch, die uneingeschränkte eheliche Treue zu bewahren, für diejenigen unverständlich, die den Menschen auf die Kategorien dieser Welt reduzieren wollen. Darum sagst Du, Herr, im Hinblick auf beide Formen solch radikaler Lebensentscheidung: „Wer es fassen kann, der fasse es!“ Das uneingeschränkte Ja der Christen zum Leben – von der Zeugung bis zum natürlichen Tod – ist nicht erst heute Gegenstand heftiger öffentlicher Kontroversen. Schon in einem Text aus Ende des 2. Anfang des 3. Jh.‘s – also etwa aus der Zeit, in welche die Legende die hl. Ursula und ihre Schar datiert – heißt es: „Die Christen unterscheiden sich von der Welt nicht durch eine besondere Kleidung oder Sprache, sondern vor allem dadurch: Dass sie die Ehe als unauflöslich verstehen, dass sie weder ein Kind abtreiben noch ein Neugeborenes töten und dass sie nicht nur für ihre eigenen Armen sorgen, sondern auch für diejenigen, die keine Christen sind.“ Lieber Bruder, Liebe Schwester im Glauben, Ursula und ihre Gefährten zeigen uns also: Widerstand ist nichts Außergewöhnliches – es sollte uns eher nachdenklich machen, wenn wir von zweifelhafter Seite keinen Widerspruch erhalten. Bitten wir die hl. Ursula und die Heiligen aller Zeiten, dass sie uns helfen, trotz des Widerspruchs heute glaubwürdige Zeugen für Jesus Christus zu sein. – DMH

As well as running the Cardiff store, Stuart also had a couple of his armies featured in White Dwarf and even won a WFB staff tournament whilst working at GW. These days, Stuart has traded in his red jersey for a Stetson, as one of the big focuses of Great Escape Games is Dead Man's Hand. For the past decade, DMH has given players the opportunity to fight out gun battles in the Old West, and it'll be given some TLC in 2024 with its new edition Dead Man's Hand Redux - coming to Kickstarter at the end of the month!

Rosy trabaja para el Consejo para la Prevención del Abuso Infantil - (DBA) Action for Kids, desde hace 7 años. (De forma voluntaria).  El Consejo es uno de los 12 Consejos de Prevención del Abuso Infantil del Condado de Los Ángeles (CAPC) por mandato de la legislatura en 1985.  El consejo ha sido completamente voluntario operado en Antelope Valley desde 1998, ayudando a servir a los residentes, y fortalecer a través de asociaciones comunitarias.  Están asociados con CATTA, OCAP, ICAN, Los Angeles Conty DCFS, DMH, DPSS, DPH y muchos más socios de la comunidad para aportar soluciones al abuso infantil.  El consejo organiza por lo menos dos eventos comunitarios anuales que traen conciencia y conversaciones para reducir la incidencia de abuso infantil y negligencia.
