From not being able to cope with an illness to never recovering from a personal lose many things can lead to the slippery slope of Hoarding. Dorothy discusses the fact that most do not think anything is wrong and you can not convince them that they have a problem. Mark tells a story of a friend of his that has a family member that will not throw anything away.Hoarding disorder is a persistent difficulty discarding or parting with possessions because of a perceived need to save them. A person with hoarding disorder experiences distress at the thought of getting rid of the items. Excessive accumulation of items, regardless of actual value, occurs.Hoarding often creates such cramped living conditions that homes may be filled to capacity, with only narrow pathways winding through stacks of clutter.
