The OCR World Championships released breaking news at 8:00am this morning. OCRWC is disqualifying a 2017 participant due to "violating anti-doping policy". Ryan Woods becomes the first OCR competitor in history to be DQ'd at any obstacle race for this reason. You can read the complete OCRWC article here which includes a response statement from Ryan Woods. Ryan's 3rd place, 15k finish is off the record books for OCRWC 2017. In addition, his team had won the OCRWC Sunday team relay. That team of Woods, Ryan Atkins and Hunter McIntyre, is now also disqualified. We got a hold of both of Ryan's teammates as soon as possible. Ryan Atkins told us: There aren’t many people I’ve met who have been as genuine, nice and just generally “good” as Ryan Woods. I believe he made an honest mistake and hope he remains as a competitor in the sport. We reached Hunter McIntyre via text who said: I like Ryan for his personality, not his body. Also Ryan and I shared a bed after Tougher Mudder Championship. It was a very pleasant experience. The podcast episode below is an in-depth conversation with Ryan Woods recorded just a few hours ago. Adrian Bijanada, head of OCRWC, also made himself available to answer a few questions. You can hear those conversations by clicking on the link below or Itunes link above. **Update - I also reached out to both Spartan Race and Tough Mudder to find out if this affects any past results or future participation for Mr. Woods. Neither were able to comment on the record at this time. Todays Podcast is sponsored by: Rugged Maniac – $5 off when you use the code PODCAST for any 2018 race

Part Two picks up on Friday evening June 21. We begin with Andy Weinberg speaking to the familes and crew members shortly after the athletes were sent off to build the "Stairway to Heaven". As we continue on, we give you a sneak peek inside the mind of Joe Desena as we followed him around as much as possible. You'll hear how he deals with the racers as they decide to quit, keep going, or in one case, beg to be DQ'd. We also catch some various racers thoughts and feelings throughout the next 48-72 hours. We end with two finishers, Erica Matta and Andrew Hostetler. This duo sums up their experience and the DR experience as a whole rather well. Today's episode is sponsored by Superhero Scramble. This awesome race has 3 more races to go this year including the marathon distance SuperVillian to take place in Illinois on August 24th. Housekeeping note: We now have a new permanent home for the podcast on iTunes.
