What are your work values? (why they matter + how to identify them) I have to be honest here. I didn't know that businesses had values until I sat down to write my first business plan. Prior to starting Color Resale I thought values were personal. Even when I read more about workplace values I still thought it was silly to implement when my business was just me (+ Eena, of course). So why do business values matter (even for ‘soloprenuers')? What do they practically do? Business values - Determine what's important Guide our actions & decision making process Clearly convey your company identity to customers Transform your work into a purpose driven business Add authenticity Give branding, marketing, and customer service a cohesive and heartfelt core. Are what propels every action, step and possibility Help with work relationships. Ex: postal workers, peers on IG, bank tellers, who ever else you interact with. Since I only have so much space here I have created a new podcast episode that goes into a little more detail and has 25 Work value examples to give you ideas to start off with. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Show description : Hustle mentality is alive and well amongst boss babes but so is burn out. IKNOW what I'll do," said the Green Goblin, to his friend the Will-o'-the-Wisp. "I'll give a spelling-match." "With prizes?" asked the Will-o'-the-Wisp. "Why, of course. One will be the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, another will be a wishing-cap, and the third will be—" "Shoes of invisibility," suggested the Will-o'-the-Wisp. "No," the Green Goblin objected. "If you won those, you'd disappear, and then where would you be?" "But that would make no difference," answered the Will-o'-the-Wisp; "for no one can find me when they see me; and so if they can't see me, they can't find me any better than if they could see me—could they?" "Now you're mixing me up," said the Green Goblin, "and I want to go on with my spelling-match. The third prize will be a wishing-ring. And the fourth prize—I don't think I'll have more than three prizes. Maybe we won't have more than three prize-winners. Come on over to the White Owl's tree, and we'll have the Town Crier give out the notices." So they flitted over to the tree and found the Town Crier, who for a fee of four four-leafed clovers gave out the notice at the trysting-places of Fairyland, telling all the residents that on the first of April there would be a Great Spelling-Match at the Grotto of the Green Goblin, admission free, with prizes for the three best spellers. When the day came, the grotto was filled with an excited throng. There was the King and the Queen, the Princess, and the Lord High Chancellor. There was the old Witch, the Wizard, the Enchanter, and the youngest son of the Woodcutter. There were the Knight, the Squire, the Giant, the Dwarf, the Sultan, the Genie, the Pirate, the Bandit, the Schoolmaster, and the Teacher of Dancing. The Will-o'-the-Wisp was not there, because the match was held at ten o'clock a.m., and the Will-o'-the-Wisp is out only at night. But the Green Goblin was so much interested in his other guests that he forgot the Will-o'-the-Wisp entirely. When all were gathered, the refreshments were served by some small elves dressed in the Green Goblin's green livery. Everything was most delicious. There were syllabubs, pistachio nuts, greengages, philopœnas, nougatines, nectar and ambrosia, vitamines, doughnuts, and a lot of things with French and Italian names that were most delightful and melted in the mouth before you had time to taste them—together with bonbons and frozen sweets. But since the Giant went early to the refreshment room, there was not much left for the other guests, and all were glad when the Green Goblin declared it was time for the spelling-match. So next they all counted out with "Eena, mena, mona, mi," until their places in the spelling-line were fixed, and then they were arranged in the following order: First came the Giant, then came the Dwarf and the Enchanter, the King, the Chancellor, the Woodcutter's Son, the Wizard, the Knight, the Princess. After her was the Squire, then the Queen, the Pirate, the Genie, the Schoolmaster, the Teacher of Dancing, the Bandit, and last came the Sultan and the old Witch. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hmphaudiobooks/support

Welcome (back) to the La Voix du LILA – Burbank podcast. If you have yet to experience one of our weekly podcasts this year, definitely do not miss out on today's as it is a special one and full of meaningful content. We are joined in the studio by members of our student leadership team Talia W. (12IB, ASB President) and Eena O. (12IB, ASB Vice President and Peer Mediation President) along with Cinjin H. (9 FB). Talia and Eena brought us up to speed on their plans as they relate to the 2020/2021 ASB and they remain hopeful that the ASB will be able to offer some special programming as we progress into the school year. Unfortunately, due to the current format of school, the normal activities are being amended and a lot of thought is being considered in how to adjust accordingly. Talia and Eena also provided meaningful insight on how they are both approaching college applications based on their goals and aspirations. Their insight is incredibly valuable for any student or parent to hear regardless of what grade level you are currently at LILA. If you are interested in hearing from the voices of our students, be sure to have a listen. In addition to being a student at LILA, Cinjin H. is also an aspiring actor who recently was recognized for a PSA he was a part of which received an Emmy. Cinjin joins us to speak about his involvement with the project as well as offer a deeply passionate point of view on charity work and its importance. This week's podcast (Episode 6 SY20/21): Intro 01:00 - 08:45 - Talia and Eena review of college application process, ASB virtual meetings and programming, ASB Instagram, participation in spirit days, student mediation and mentorship/Big Brother Big Sister. English/French 08:45 - 16:50 Cinjin highlights his experience with the Emmy award winning Sandy Hook Promise PSA and how impactful it was for him to be involved in this project. Cinjin also spoke passionately about his participation working alongside his family to support different global charities and how he wants us all to know that "No one deserves to need this type of help" and "If everyone just pitched in a little bit, it would make all the difference in other people's lives." He continued to offer insights which led to Ms. Harvey exploring how the school could collaborate with Cinjin to elevate this type of work and engage other students who might also be willing to get involved. English 16:50 - 18:40 - Section Mosaïque: Mr. Mondange recognizes the new elected classroom delegates, Ms. Harvey highlights a reminder to parents for the upcoming session of Dialogues on Diversity: unconscious patterns of thought and implicit bias for Tuesday at 7pm and Mr. Mondange closes out the section with a thank you to our teachers. (English/French) 18:40 - Outro. Let's also not forget our teachers for World Teachers’ Day this Monday, October 5. Send them a note or a message to let them know they are appreciated! On 6 October 2017, French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed civil protection professionals to thank them for their work on the recent fires & hurricane in the French territory. In this context, he set out his vision for the future of emergency services & the safety of citizens. In light of recent attacks and weather-related disasters, the French President highlighted the need for a public warning (reverse-112) system, considering it a “national priority”.

Within the Trenches is back with episode 34! This episode was recorded at the National NENA Conference and Expo at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. In this episode I had the pleasure of speaking with Tony, Deputy Executive Director of the European Emergency Number Association (EENA.) This is a very interesting episode in the sense of differences to the structure of 9-1-1 in Europe over the United States. Tony touches on some of the difficulties Europe is having with implementing new technologies and how phone calls for 112, 999 (9-1-1) are very similar to what we deal with in the states. For more information on EENA you can follow the links below. As always you can email the show at thejcast@thejabberlog.com.
