Hello and welcome to another episode of The Entrepreneurial Mindset Project, where I tease out the hidden logic that enables ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things through finding solutions. In this episode, I'm speaking with Dr. Meena McCullough, a physical therapist who became an unlikely entrepreneur. Frustrated by the limitations of the medical system, she found herself constantly complaining. Yet she was motivated to take action after a friend challenged her with these simple words, "Put your money where your mouth is." This pivotal moment challenged her to shift her mindset towards solution-driven thinking in a way that ultimately led her to start her own business. She began with a simple solution—creating flashcards to help caregivers who worked with patients who were suffering from dementia. Once she saw that her idea actually worked, she was inspired to address larger challenges for those who suffered from chronic pain. Today, she has a thriving practice of her own, one that is revolutionizing physical therapy. Dr. Meena's story is a master class in entrepreneurship: look for problems to solve, try things on a small scale, and continuously learn and adapt. And, rather than taking big risks, she began by experimenting in the margins, after work and on weekends, building prototypes and refining her ideas through customer feedback. She also described the difficulty of overcoming self-doubt and dealing with negativity as well as the value of persistence, passion, and embracing uncertainty. What I love about Dr. Meena's story is the simplicity of it all. Look for problems in your everyday life. Stop complaining and start solving. The ability to identify and solve problems is something anyone can do. So, without any further ado, I hope you enjoy my conversation with Dr. Meena McCullough.

In this episode of Critical Magic Theory, we begin our deep dive into the origins of Lord Voldemort by unpacking the complexities of Tom Riddle Jr. Professor Julian Wamble explores what made young Tom tick—his ambitions, insecurities, and relentless desire to prove himself in the Wizarding World. Was he a textbook Slytherin, or did his ego ultimately undermine his ambitions? Is he a victim of his upbringing, or was his villainy inevitable? From his desperate need for external validation to his obsession with rewriting his own identity, we trace the moments that shaped Tom Riddle into the Dark Lord. We also delve into psychological insights from a clinical psychologist, questioning whether he was truly a psychopath or simply a product of deep-seated trauma. Join us as we challenge the myth of Voldemort's self-confidence, analyze the sheer pettiness of his anagrammed name, and examine whether his master plan was ever as foolproof as he thought. And, of course, stay tuned for the next episode, where we transition from “Tommy J” to the fully transformed Voldemort, post-nose. The Asiatic Lion is probably India's finest conservation miracles. With less than 100 individuals remaining in the wild in the 1960s, the population has skyrocketed with an estimated 600-800 lions roaming the forests of Saurashtra. In 2018, over 50 lions were lost due to an outbreak of the canine distemper disease. Moreover, the range of the Gir lion has spread well beyond the forests of Gir National Park, with prides often found wandering urban landscapes in Saurashtra. This poses a risk of human-lion conflict, which till now has been relatively limited. In Episode 6 of The Think Wildlife Podcast, I am joined by India's leading lion biologist, Dr. Venkatraman, the founder of Carnivore Conservation and Research. She has over 20 years of experience as a wildlife biologists and studied the behavioural ecology of the Asiatic Lion. We talk about her intriguing work on lion ecology and conservation. We also talk about the state of lion translocation efforts in India and the potential impact of the cheetah reintroduction. This is the Catchup on 3 Things by The Indian Express and I'm Flora Swain.Today is the 14th of November and here are the headlines. At a rally in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted Congress, accusing some of viewing the killer of Sambhaji Maharaj as a messiah. He questioned if such individuals were against Maharashtra's pride and identity. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi responded, mocking BJP claims about his “red book” with blank pages. Gandhi defended his use of the book, while BJP's Devendra Fadnavis alleged it was a tactic to gain support from urban Naxals and anarchists.Delhi's air quality reached hazardous levels, with an AQI of 423 at 11 am, prompting serious disruptions at Indira Gandhi Airport. 151 flights were delayed, and 282 departures faced delays averaging 45 minutes. Environment Minister Gopal Rai called for stricter enforcement of GRAP II measures to combat pollution. He noted an expected improvement in air quality due to rising wind speeds, as the capital continues to struggle with pollution-related issues affecting public health and daily operations.Rajasthan Police arrested Congress rebel Naresh Meena after violent clashes between his supporters and the police, leaving over 50 injured and 60 vehicles torched. Meena, who contested the Deoli-Uniara bypolls as an Independent, was filmed allegedly slapping the local SDM during voting. He claimed the SDM allowed fake voters at a polling station, prompting a standoff with police. Meena's actions sparked protests, and his arrest followed a night of tensions in Tonk district. The Argentinian delegation has withdrawn from COP29, reportedly on the orders of President Javier Milei. The move, just days into the conference, raised concerns about Argentina's stance on climate action, especially given Milei's ties with US President-elect Donald Trump. Speculation about Argentina's potential exit from the Paris Agreement intensified, although no official confirmation was made. The decision marks a significant shift in the country's international climate policy as Milei consolidates power since taking office in November.Sri Lankans are voting in a crucial parliamentary election, pivotal for President Anura Kumara Dissanayake's government. Dissanayake's September presidential win, marking a rejection of traditional parties, has fueled hopes for economic recovery. However, his failure to secure over 50% of the vote has raised doubts about his party's future success in the election. On Thursday, Vice President Kamala Harris accepted the Democratic Party's nomination in Chicago. Lilly and Susan talk to two presidential politics scholars to unpack the political impact of the convention. When the Republicans convened in Milwaukee, the presidential race was a rematch between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. The four of us took stock of the race back in June and discussed calls for Biden to leave the race – but a shocking debate performance in late June rattled party faithful and donors. In June, few seemed enthusiastic about Vice President Harris as the person to take on Donald Trump. But on July 21st, President Joe Biden not only announced he was withdrawing. Biden endorsed Harris and she quickly and adroitly established herself as the only candidate. After a few weeks of strong campaigning with her VP Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Harris and the Democrats went into the 4-day convention. Meena, Dan, Susan, and Lilly have a spiritied discussion! Dr. Meena Bose is the Executive Dean for Public Policy and Public Service Programs at the Peter S. Kalikow School of Government, Public Policy and International Affairs and director of the Peter S. The Republican Party held its nominating convention a week ago in Milwaukee, formally nominating former President Donald Trump as the standard-bearer for the GOP, and also his vice-presidential pick, Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH). Just before the convention kicked off, Trump was the target of an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania. The GOP convention was unique in having the former president there over all days of the event. But since the convention concluded, President Joe Biden has announced that he will not be standing for re-election, and immediately endorsed his vice president, Kamala Harris, to become the Democratic nominee for president. As we are taping this podcast on Wednesday, July 24th, Vice President Kamala Harris looks like the presumptive Democratic nominee, about 4 weeks before the Democratic convention. It has been a head spinning two weeks of politics in the United States and the dynamics and focus of the presidential race has shifted dramatically. To take stock of where the race stands about 100 days out, we have two experts on the presidency. Dr. Meena Bose is the Executive Dean for Public Policy and Public Service Programs at the Peter S. Kalikow School of Government, Public Policy and International Affairs and director of the Peter S. Kalikow Center for the Study of the American Presidency, both at Hofstra University. Dr. Daniel E. Ponder is the L.E. Meador Professor of Political Science and Director of the Meador Center for Politics and Citizenship at Drury University. Meena and Dan are the co-editors OF a new De Gruyter Series in Presidential Politics, Leadership, and Policy Making. The first volume is Evaluating the Obama Presidency: From Transformational Goals to Governing Realities (De Gruyter, 2024) edited by Meena Bose and Paul Fritz. It includes a chapter on presidential leverage and Obama's decision making on Syria by Dan Ponder and Jeff VanDenBerg. Previously, Meena joined the podcast to discuss her book Executive Policymaking: The Role of the OMB in the Presidency (co-authored with Andrew Rudalevige) and Dan also chatted with Lilly about his book Presidential Leverage: Presidents, Approval, and the American State. They are also veterans of Postscript, having come on the show in the past few weeks to discuss the state of the presidential election and consider it in historical and institutional context. We spend this conversation talking about the changing dynamics in the presidential field, and the decisions made by President Biden to step aside. We go over the conventions, discussing the recent Republican convention and what the Democratic convention may be like in a few weeks' time. We talk about issues that may define the race or are defining the race, including the economy, immigration, and reproductive rights. We also, as good political scientists, discuss the prospective options for the vice-presidential selection that Vice President Harris will have to make over the next few weeks. During the podcast, we mentioned: Julia Azari's Substack post at Good Politics/Bad Politics on Vice President Kamala Harris's campaign kickoff event in West Allis, WI on Tuesday, July 23.
