Three Out Loud hosts, one tarot card reader, and our unfiltered reactions. What could go wrong? Outlouders, this is an episode we have been looking forward to. Also, we’re not just reading our futures — Holly unpacks the vulnerable and heartfelt revelations in Liz Gilbert’s new book, including her self-proclaimed 'love addiction'. Send us a textWe start with NBC's disappointing coverage of this week's Sunday Night Football game and the handling of the weather delay. We criticize the lack of preparation by sports broadcasters, and compare past incidents like the 2013 Super Bowl blackout. This then leads into the debate on the current state of NFL commentators as a whole. Who do we like? Who do we not like? What is the impact of star commentators like Tony Romo and Tom Brady? We finish our football talk discussing the insertion of ads into the NFL Red Zone.We highlight IMBDs list of their 250 user rated shows. Specifically, we compare this list to shows that have never won an Emmy. Which shows from the list never won the coveted award? We then get into the discussion of businesses ( namely subscription services) offering better deals to new customers/subscribers than current customers/subscribers? Is this right? What do businesses operate this way?THEN: BRITISH CORNER: Rhea reviews season 2 of ‘The Marlow Murder Club' on PBS. Having previously reviewed season 1, what made her come back for season 2? Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell sit down with Stephanie Tinsley to turn up the mic—and the spotlight—on Stephanie's ‘Everything They Missed', a new, true-crime podcast series that reopens a murder case that should've never been closed. Everything They Missed is a new series retracing the cold case of Danny Harris—a father, veteran, and Tennessean whose murder became a case study in how quickly justice can be closed off. Through a cinematic, document-rich narrative, Stephanie raises crucial questions about the choices investigators made, voices dismissed, and evidence overlooked. Her work is a vivid reminder: justice isn't just about what's easy to see, but what requires the courage to investigate the inconvenient. But here's the real twists: its the railroading cops, missing fingerprints, and page-flip detective work that just doesn't add up. Stephanie's method? Relentless digging, unheard voices, and questions no one else dared to ask. We're unpacking where this case went wrong—and why none of us can look away.☕ Cups Up! ⚖️Episode References Follow Stephanie Tinsley on Instagram and X Give “Everything They Missed” a listen on your favorite streaming service!
Suffering is part of the human experience, but most of us are granted the dignity of processing our pain and healing in private. For Amanda Knox, that has never been an option. As she herself puts it, “The worst experience of my life is the thing that most people know about me.” Amanda recounts the harrowing story of her wrongful conviction for the murder of her roommate while studying abroad in Perugia, Italy. The 2007 crime sparked a global media frenzy that vilified Amanda at an international scale, branding her as guilty despite the absence of evidence connecting her to the crime. A combination of her own naiveté, coercive police interrogations, language barriers, and critical errors in the investigation process led to Amanda's wrongful imprisonment. And yet, since her eventual acquittal, Amanda has found a way to live in hope and transform her painful experience into a force for good. She now focuses on finding meaning in the aftermath, using her story to expose the realities of wrongful convictions and to advocate for others who have been falsely accused. Learn more about Amanda through her books, “Waiting to Be Heard” and “Free", and her podcast, “Hard Knox”. Watch the Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox on Hulu. Learn more about your ad choices. Grace Van Patten has one word to describe having the opportunity to portray Amanda Knox in Hulu's The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox—grateful. “I was really, really grateful to be a part of something that was giving Amanda a chance to reclaim her story,” she told Newsweek's H. Alan Scott. To capture Knox's mindset, Van Patten leaned into the confusion of the case itself. “Playing the confusion was truthful. I was so confused by what happened when I was learning about it that it was very easy to be present in those moments.” The role also showed her the impact of public perception. “I learned a lot about how easy it is for women, but all people, to be so easily scrutinized and villainized in the press.” Partly because there's money in the shock value. “It sells. It's so much about money. And we're all guilty of buying into it because it's enticing, and it's in big font. It taught me a lot to work harder on not buying into that type of thing.” Ultimately, she is eager to see if the series can shift long-held beliefs. “I'm really curious to see if it does change their opinion at the end of it.” You can watch the full chat at https://www.newsweek.com/2025/09/12/grace-van-patten-reclaiming-amanda-knoxs-true-story-hulu-2119585.html Subscribe to my newsletter: https://www.newsweek.com/newsletter/the-culture/ Follow me: https://linktr.ee/halanscott Subscribe to Newsweek's YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/newsweek See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Amanda Knox was a young student in a foreign country when she was thrust into an international media firestorm, accused — and then ultimately acquitted — of the murder of her roommate. Now an author and public speaker, she’s the executive producer of the new scripted drama “The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox”, an attempt to finally tell her story on her own terms. She has spent years grappling with the profound psychological impact of her imprisonment and exoneration, and she isn’t afraid to open up about her intentions in retelling this story once again in the public eye, or why she decided to face her Italian prosecutor years later. She joins me to discuss how she's made sense of it all, the contradictions she's observed in the systems she was caught in, and how she explains it all to her young daughter. The story of Amanda Knox has been told many times, and there have been several versions: there were the sensational allegations laid out by an Italian prosecutor, of a University of Washington exchange student who, in 2007, murdered her British roommate as part of a sex-game-gone wrong. That story landed Knox in Italian prison for almost four years; that story was fiction. Then, there were the clickbaity tabloid exploits of “Foxy Knoxy,” a sex-obsessed “luciferina.” This story, which is also wrong, kept Knox confined in another way: branded with a reputation she couldn’t shake. There were also Lifetime Movies, documentaries and countless books, including a couple by Knox herself, that told the true story of a young woman wrongly convicted and caught up by legal and media forces larger than herself. Now, for the first time, she is using a scripted TV series to tell her story the way she wants. She is the Executive Producer of a new series called The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox. By the way, the series is also EP’d by Monica Lewinsky. The first two episodes are available now on Hulu. How do you free yourself from the prison of your past? How do you get up after being dragged down? Joining us today to talk about the 2007 murder case that shocked the world, Amanda Knox recalls her wrongful conviction for the death of Meredith Kercher. Fifteen years after the gruesome incident that attracted huge media attention, Amanda gets real about the experience that turned her life upside down. Amanda is an exoneree, a journalist, a public speaker, and the author of a New York Times best-selling memoir, “Waiting to Be Heard.” She co-hosts the podcast Labyrinths with Christopher Robinson. She spent nearly four years in an Italian prison and eight years on trial for a murder she did not commit. After that, she began advocating for reforms in criminal justice and media ethics. In this episode, Amanda shares how her life has been after the wrongful conviction that put her behind the bars for years for the murder of her roommate in Italy. Amanda also recalls the police treatment she had experienced and how the media depicted her as guilty when she was on the trial for the murder case. This conversation covers interesting topics such as media ethics, criminal justice, and how core values help in facing certain circumstances and impossible tasks. **Check out Amanda Knox's new series, “The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox,” available on Hulu starting August 20, 2025. Monica Lewinsky joins Joanna Coles for an unflinching look at the new Hulu limited series 'The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox'—and why the story we think we know is nothing like the truth. From Knox's wrongful conviction and years in an Italian prison, to the media's obsession with “Foxy Knoxy” and the anatomy of bias that fueled it, Lewinsky reveals how her own experience being dissected by the press helped her connect with Knox and bring her story to the screen. With behind-the-scenes details on persuading Amanda to say yes, building a powerhouse creative team, and the haunting parallels between two women thrust into the global spotlight, this episode uncovers how narratives are twisted, who benefits, and what gets lost along the way. Blayne Alexander talks with Josh Mankiewicz about his episode, “Twisted Tale.” In March 2015, Aaron Quinn called the Vallejo Police Department to report that someone had broken into his home, drugged him and kidnapped his girlfriend, Denise Huskins. The police began searching for the missing woman, but they also seemed suspicious of Aaron's story. Two days later, Denise resurfaced 400 miles from Vallejo, and described being held against her will, drugged, and assaulted. At a press conference following Denise's reappearance, Vallejo police accused the couple of faking the story for publicity. It wasn't until months later, after a man was caught following a similar crime, that Aaron and Denise's story was proven to be true. Blayne and Josh dive into the media frenzy that surrounded the case and explore how Harvard-educated former Marine, Matthew Muller, was ultimately linked to a string of crimes. Josh shares a podcast-exclusive clip from his interview with journalist Henry Lee, and catches Blayne up on how Denise and Aaron are doing today. Have a question for Talking Dateline?
