Welcome Back B-oo's Crew! This week we head down to San Antonia, TX to talk about a place we have never heard of! The Emily Morgan Hotel started its life over 100 years ago as a medical facility that was part of the Alamo plaza...However, the hotel, named after a slave woman believed to have been the reason for the victory at San Juacinta, was not given life until 1984. Being so close to the site of the Alamo battle where more than 600 men died, and the hundreds that would live and die in the medical facility, its no wonder it is believed to be haunted. But, by who? Join as we take a trip through american history and folklore and ask the question.."Is It Real!?"Do you have a story you'd like read or played on the show? As I found myself this week, staring at gargoyles in downtown San Antonio, across from the Alamo, I began a journey of remembrance. I went back to reflect upon our recent visit to Goliad, and realized the past and its abundant artifacts are as eloquent as gargoyles and their many architectural relatives. I delve into the Mission Espiritu Santo's treasures, saving the historical turmoils of Goliad for later. I conclude back at the Emily Morgan Hotel, staring at gargoyles afflicted with human illnesses. Processing some current news, I concluded that The Green Man, as well as gargoyles and concrete evidences emerging from our our past, are revealing that our history has wisdom of immense value to share with us, and we imperil our future if our present neglects this basic principle.
From its start as a medical facility to its role during the Battle of the Alamo, the Emily Morgan Hotel has seen its fair share of history—and horror. Just steps from the Alamo, the hotel has become known for the strange happenings within its walls. With rumors of haunting spirits, strange smells, and unexplainable occurrences, it's earned a reputation as the most haunted hotel in America. Jorge & friends (Adam & Jesse) go 2Hard2Fast attempting to experience some of these rumored hauntings as the stay the night in this Top 5 Most Haunted Hotel in the USA. We've covered the Emily Morgan Hotel, the Alamo, and now, the Menger Hotel. This hotel is estimated by experts to be home to 32 to 45 ghosts including, but not limited to, Teddy Roosevelt, Sallie the Chambermaid, Captain Richard King the Cow Baron, a lady in white, and a few kids running around. It's to be expected, with a long history of renovations, civil war efforts, and deaths to go around, that a place would be haunted. But large places are haunted big time and the Menger Hotel is no different. But first, Robin brings us a Something Southern and springs another Southern Geography quiz onto Zoey, and she actually doesn't do to bad.Sources: https://hauntedhospitality.wordpress.com/2023/06/20/ep-116-completing-the-alamo-plaza-with-the-menger-hotel/Visit us on Social Media! Right beside the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas, the Emily Morgan Hotel looms 13 stories tall. Originally constructed in 1924, it got its start as a premier Medical Arts Building. And even almost 50 years since the building saw its last patient, there are still traces of that hospital today. From the inexplicable antiseptic smell on the former surgical floor to the memory of a nurse walking down the hall, the Emily Morgan Hotel seems to like holding onto the past. And we haven't even mentioned the gargoyles built 100 years ago that are designed to look like suffering patients (seriously, what?!). In this episode, we explore the hotel's history, the folk legend it's named for, and the unusual happenings that have made it famous. But first, Zoey is kicking off her first Something Spooky of 2023 with a Creature Corner: Sources: https://hauntedhospitality.wordpress.com/2023/01/10/ep-93-gargoyles-and-perfectly-timed-ghostsVisit us on Social Media! Whoa it's episode 27 on the 27th! Better call Nicolas Cage to figure out the symbolism behind that and lead us to great treasure. Or at least another fantastic episode full of super high witches, scarily true spooky stories, and somehow a connection to Nicolas and pyramids? Episode 27 of The Stoned Witches Hour finds Chelle being responsible, Laylla doing ALL.THE.WEED and a polite request for cannabutter recipes. Non sweet please, we're watching our witchy figures. Naw not really, send us your favorites of whatever type!Chelle dives deep into a historic true crime tale of a woman with a taste for torture. Laylla traces the roots of The Yellow Rose of Texas and how she may have distracted a great general long enough for Sam Houston to win The Battle of San Jacinto. Remember The Alamo?Gargoyles, ghosts, and shitty people who think slavery is ok but torture is a going just a bit too far.

When it comes to the Emily Morgan Hotel it is almost as if it was built to be haunted. The historic building is thirteen stories tall, built in a beyond creepy gothic-revivalist style, and sits right across the street from the historic Alamo. The hotel was once a state-of-the-art medical facility with its own morgue which to this day is the driving force behind the majority of it's hauntings. In 2015, USA Today even listed the Emily Morgan as the third most haunted hotel in the world. Today we break down the history of the hotel and our experiences from a night inside. This Spooky Wednesday we've got a terrifying train and a haunted hotel! First, Kala discusses the Lincoln Funeral Train, a ghost train that follows the same track every year after the anniversary of the late President Abraham Lincoln's death. Is the memory of such a well-known political figure enough to keep the echo of the train carrying his corpse traveling across the country every year around the anniversary of his death? Next Brittany tells us all about the Emily Morgan Hotel in San Antonio, TX where we learned some amazing facts including why remembering the Alamo is not all that important but remembering Emily Morgan is. She was a badass. And her badassery leads someone to name a hotel after her. A hotel with a ghostly bride, a burning-flesh-smelling basement, and elevators with a mind of their own. Just between us… we think there could have been a better way to honor her memory. This episode is sponsored by Earth Rider Brewery in Superior, WI. For more information visit https://earthrider.beer.
