Well, well, well...look what we have here! A sweet treat wrapped up in a bonus episode of The Skeptical Shaman podcast featuring none other than the final boss of neurodivergence himself: Scott Horton!Scott is the Director of the Libertarian Institute, Editorial Director of Antiwar.com, and the host of the Scott Horton Show. He's the author of the 2024 book Provoked: How Washington Started the New Cold War With Russia and the Catastrophe in Ukraine; the 2021 book Enough Already: Time to End the War on Terrorism; the 2017 book, Fool's Errand:Time to End the War in Afghanistan; and was the editor of the 2019 book The Great Ron Paul: The Scott Horton Show Interviews 2004–2019 and the 2022 book Hotter Than the Sun: Time to Abolish Nuclear Weapons. And I know what you're thinking: "Rachel...I thought you said you didn't want to make your work at TOTEM or on The Skeptical Shaman podcast political? So, like, what is this bullshi*t?"The answer is that it's not political, at least not for host Rachel White (Owner of TOTEM Readings). Rather, we wanted to engage Scott, who has recently been featured on Pierce Morgan, Breaking Points and the Tucker Carlson Show, to help us break out of our collective propaganda spell by sharing the tips, tricks and tools (as well as tidbits of researched, footnoted facts) he's picked up from doing more than 6,000 interviews and debates, all while not having a f*cking team.Yep, that's right. Scott Horton is the "Libertarian's Libertarian", rejecting the binary "uniparty" of United States' politics to, instead, be critical-- and skeptical-- of both. This, in turn, has given Scott a unique-- and very shamanic-- perspective, removing the burden of thought-terminating cliches and thought reform regimes to free him to think and speak for himself. The results might be a bit abrasive, or even trigger you depending on where you fall in the political spectrum. But, having spent time with and corresponded with Scott over the last two years, Rachel can assert one thing for certain: Scott is kind, human, open-minded, funny, and a very good hang. And here's the best part: he's not trying to persuade you over to his side, because he doesn't have a side.In this episode, we chat about Scott's anti-war advocacy over the years, how Austin, TX has changed since Dazed and Confused, and how he's trying to contribute to the collective dialogue by just being honest (and insanely researched) about what he really, actually thinks. Now, you don't have to be a Libertarian or right of center or even anti-war to take something away from this extra-long dialogue that explores the archetype of Prometheus appearing in our New Age-- and what that means for tyranny (spoiler alert: tyranny's f*cked!). You're a human with agency, and this "story" isn't over yet. Nihilism is just another way to let the real bad guys win, so choose the opposite: stand up tall, speak your mind, and extend a hand to someone that thinks or feels differently from you. The more we converse and team up, the harder it will be to defeat us as a species!Besides: you might find a very pleasant surprise just on the other side. (And make sure you read our little disclaimer below before listening to this episode. If you don't think it's for you, don't listen.)Please note: The views and opinions expressed on The Skeptical Shaman do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of the podcast. This week on Talk World Radio we welcome back Scott Horton, whose new book is called PROVOKED: How Washington Started the New Cold War with Russia and the Catastrophe in Ukraine. Scott Horton is director of the Libertarian Institute, editorial director of Antiwar.com, host of Antiwar Radio on Pacifica, 90.7 FM KPFK in Los Angeles, California and podcasts the Scott Horton Show from ScottHorton.org. His books include Enough Already: Time to End the War on Terrorism, and Fool's Errand:Time to End the War in Afghanistan.
On this week's episode of the Free Thought Project Podcast, Jason and Matt welcome back one of our most respected and returning guests, Scott Horton, for the third time. Scott is the director of the Libertarian Institute, editorial director of Antiwar.com, and the host of Antiwar Radio on Pacifica, 90.7 FM KPFK in Los Angeles, California. He's also a prolific author with several must-read books, including Enough Already: Time to End the War on Terrorism and Fool's Errand: Time to End the War in Afghanistan. His work is pivotal in educating and mobilizing countless individuals in the pursuit of peace and liberty. In this episode, we commemorate the 32nd anniversary of the Ruby Ridge standoff—a dark chapter in American history where the government unleashed deadly force on a family simply trying to live off the grid. Scott gives us a detailed history of the event, followed by an exploration of how Ruby Ridge became the blueprint for the Waco siege and the tragedy of the Branch Davidians. But Scott doesn't stop there—he ties these historical events into a broader narrative, showing how the government has perfected its playbook of turning ordinary Americans into "domestic terrorists" through propaganda and setups. From there, Scott connects the dots between these domestic tragedies and American foreign policy. He draws chilling parallels between the state's tactics at Ruby Ridge and Waco and the actions of Israel in Gaza, where he argues that the Israeli government carries out the equivalent of 20 Ruby Ridges a day. Scott paints a vivid picture of how the military-industrial complex employs this same playbook of deception and violence across the globe to provoke and perpetuate foreign conflicts. This episode is a sobering yet enlightening discussion that ties together historical events, current policies, and global conflicts, all through the lens of state violence and propaganda. On this edition of Parallax Views, Scott Horton of the Scott Horton show and author of such books as Fool's Errand: Time to End the War in Afghanistan and Enough Already: Time to End the War on Terrorism returns to discuss the ongoing fundraising campaign for his non-profit, The Libertarian Institute. We talk about a number of issues including the OKC bombing, Waco, federal entrapments plots, the co-opting of antiwar politics by right-wing hawks-posing-as-doves, Peter Thiel and the oligarchic war machine, where Scott disagrees with realist John Mearsheimer's assessment of conflict between the U.S. and China, and much, much more. This is a pretty free-flowing conversation that goes down some interesting avenues, particularly if you're interested in the OKC bombing and Waco, but also for the criticisms Scott makes of the National Conservatism movement that previous guests on Parallax Views such as Kelley Vlahos and James W. Carden have made recently.

In this episode I critique a recent episode of Phil Vischer's podcast The Holy Post, in which his co-hosts Skye Jethani and Katlyn Schiess discuss the Christian faith of George W. Bush and Barack Obama. I argue that they dramatically miss the most important aspect of their presidencies, during which both men committed horrendous war crimes. I review the war crimes of Bush and Obama and contrast that record with the casual conversation they had about their faiths. I also critique a conversation that took place on the show about Oliver Anthony's Rich Men North of Richmond, where a nuanced discussion about welfare is collapsed into an unfounded theory of racial ‘dog-whistling' as well as how Oliver's commentary on Jeffery Epstein is dismissed as ‘Q-Anon' adjacent. Both of these claims demonstrate my main point that even when admirably breaking with the right-wing trajectory of American evangelicalism, the commentators on The Holy Post still conform to the parameters of acceptable discourse set by the corporate press and fail to address the most important issues facing our society. On this episode, Kelley interviews the great podcast host, author, and anti-war activist Scott Horton. The two engage in a wide-ranging discussion about Ukraine, the war party in Washington, and why right-leaning combat veterans are increasingly joining efforts to hold the government Constitutionally responsible for sending men and women off to war. Always funny, but deadly serious, Scott uses his encyclopedic knowledge of U.S. foreign policy to indict the players, poseurs, and profit-makers who made 2022 another dangerous year.More from Scott Horton:Fool's Errand: Time to End the War in Afghanistan (2017)Enough Already : Time to End the War on Terrorism (2017)Hotter than the Sun: Time to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (2022) This is a public episode. #10 - False flags and dirty wars, from Ukraine to Syria w/ Scott Horton In the Syrian province of Idlib, the US has killed ISIS leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi in a raid that also left multiple civilians dead. Omitted from most media coverage is the key US role in sparking ISIS's rise in Iraq and leveraging it to force regime change in Syria — just as it used Al Qaeda for the same purpose. Al Qaeda now controls Idlib, where al-Qurayshi had found refuge. Meanwhile, the Biden administration is accusing Russia of plotting a false flag in Ukraine, but refuses to provide any evidence. We discuss al-Qurayshi's killing and the ongoing crisis in Ukraine with Scott Horton, author of the excellent “Enough Already: Time to End the War on Terrorism.” Scott's book is a thorough history of the so-called “War on Terror” and debunking of the propaganda used to sustain it. Conradding with Conrad (Brought to you by Conrad)Conrad is part of this growing phenomenon that seems to simultaneously reject and embrace everything. It’s sort of what happens when Integral Theory meets integrated life. I think he and the people on his path are on the forefront of what will end up being the post-postmodern era. Mike Brancatelli Opens Your MindThis is a Very Special Episode. I sometimes feel like I’m way too cerebral to have a truly spiritual experience. So I’ve been fascinated by psychedelics for years. Psychedelics can offer a kind of “shortcut” to spirituality. Of course, I’ve also heard pretty negative things about using a shortcut to get to the end. Jung warned against “unearned wisdom”. Jordan Peterson, who I respect, echoes him. Many people believe the spiritual experiences psychedelic open us up for are actually demonic. Alex Jones (and many others) believe the “demons” are aliens. I’m not opposed to any of these positions, even the aliens.According to Vin Armani and Pete Quiñones we’re entering a new “age of magic”. Astrologers say we’ve entered the Age of Aquarius. Integralists say we’re entering a post-postmodern age of oneness, a sort of collective enlightenment. The USG is teasing alien sightings. The Great Reset is underway. Conspiracy theory is hyper-ascendant. I call it the post-reason age. We’re replacing knowledge with belief, logic with rhetoric. For someone who’s “too cerebral”, it might be necessary to take a shortcut in order to survive the coming decade.I asked Mike Brancatelli of the Mikeadelic podcast to sit and talk about psychedelic fundamentals, my questions and concerns, and his experiences. Since I had absolutely no idea even what questions to ask, I invited Landry Harmon, the first ever guest on this show, to join in the chat. Pavel Trades on Why I’m All of a Sudden BrokePavel is back! We’ve been in a bit of a crypto market slump lately (I’m not actually broke per se. I’m still in the green, but man…it’s been a painful month), so I wanted to find out what he thinks is up with that. We also get into decentralized finance (DeFi), the benefits of proof of stake and why Pavel thinks Bitcoin maximalists are misguided, and why religious fervor is par for the course in everything right now. Politics, Power, and Wings with Buck JohnsonYou know Buck Johnson as host and humble narrator of the great Counterflow podcast. I’ve been fascinated by different takes on left- and right-wing worldviews. I still haven’t formed a firm opinion on the issue, but Buck definitely puts some meat on the bones. Buck thinks freedom-lovers should just give up the façade and happily identify as right-wing. I’m less keen on that, mostly because I land firmly on the left in the Malice test. (The Malice test asks, “Are some people better than others?” Right-wingers say “Yes”. Left-wingers give a speech.) Obviously, I’m not the kind of interviewer who has any interest in debating his guests, so my goal here was to dig in with Buck to learn to see, not to convince him to see like me. I think we did a pretty good job digging together.Buck is also going to be providing the venue for RU Texas, coming up in October, so be sure to sign up.Buck LinksCzech out Buck’s podcast, CounterflowGrab a tshirt while you’re at itFollow Buck on Twitter (he’s @buckrebel on everything, so find him elsewhere too)SponsorCheck out Paloma Verde CBD and be sure to use coupon code blackbird at checkout to get 25% off your order! Scott Horton is the author of “Enough Already: Time to End the War on Terrorism,” “Fool's Errand: Time to the End the War in Afghanistan,” and “The Great Ron Paul: The Scott Horton Show Interviews 2004-2019.” He's director of The Libertarian Institute, editorial director of Antiwar.com, and host of Antiwar Radio on Pacifica 90.7 FM KPFK in Los Angeles and The Scott Horton Show. The podcaster/broadcaster extraordinaire has conducted more than 5,500 interviews since 2003. I tap into Horton's vast knowledge in order to try to make sense of the Israel-Palestine crisis, its history and modern implications, especially the frustrating gaslit loyalty and heretical beliefs of Christian Zionists, the power of the pro-Israel lobby, the ignored plight of Palestinian Christians, Israel's obstruction to peace, the Deep State's fostering discord, and the US's backing of the secular regime with money, arms, and unparalleled political support. And what does the Murica get in return for being Israel's client state? Horton will fill us in. I also tell Horton about my hypothesis that the conflict in Israel is akin to the War of Northern Aggression. Since we in Dixie have been under imperial occupation since 1865, her lands destroyed and given over to settler colonialism, her collective memory maligned, her culture reconstructed and razed, and her people scapegoated and force-fed a revisionist history that not only obscures US government crimes, but now actively promotes them, I think it's a pretty good comparison, which I may expound upon in a future essay. Find out what he thinks. Getting Back Into Your Body with Juliet NailJuliet Nail of BeYou Enterprises is one of my favorite people. Her energy and enthusiasm are more contagious than some dumb ol’ virus. We’ve hung out in person a number of times (shoutouts to Cuppa Java in Minneapolis). She’s even given me a couple of great workouts. And, of course, since she’s a longtime sponsor of the show, you’ve heard her name lots of times. So I wanted to get her on to talk about her business and the way she sees the world. So what what does it feel like to be vindicated by history? We ask radio host Scott Horton, author of Fool’s Errand: Time to End the War in Afghanistan and Enough Already: Time to End the War on Terrorism about his 20-year fight against U.S. war policies, which are largely considered a colossal failure. Kelley, Barbara and Daniel also talk about anti-Russia hysteria carrying over into the Biden Administration. Subscribe at crashingthewarparty.substack.com
