Tucker Carlson is at the center of intense national controversy after his recent high-profile interview with white nationalist Nick Fuentes. The interview, which aired on Carlson's independently run streaming show, has ignited a firestorm within conservative circles as well as broader political and media communities. Florida Republican Congressman Randy Fine became the most outspoken critic at the Republican Jewish Coalition's annual leadership conference, publicly labeling Carlson as “the most dangerous antisemite in America” and accusing him of promoting Holocaust denial, supporting those who “celebrate the Nazis,” and defending Hamas. During his remarks, Fine said he was canceling a scheduled Heritage Foundation event in protest and called on other Republicans to do the same, vowing to block Heritage staffers from his office and urging colleagues to follow suit.The Heritage Foundation's response has only deepened divisions. Its president, Kevin Roberts, released a video refusing to distance the influential think tank from Carlson. Roberts dismissed critics as a “venomous coalition” and insisted their efforts to cancel Carlson would fail, even though he and the foundation officially condemned Fuentes's antisemitic ideology. This stance drew significant backlash, including criticism from Heritage staff, Republican senators, and Jewish leaders in both parties. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called the Heritage statement “deeply disturbing,” and Mitch McConnell pointedly stated that “conservatives should feel no obligation to carry water for antisemites and apologists for America-hating autocrats.” Heritage has since reassigned its chief of staff in reaction to the controversy, signaling ongoing internal turmoil.This latest uproar follows a series of recent interviews where Carlson has platformed figures who espouse Holocaust denial and anti-Jewish conspiracy theories. Just weeks prior, Carlson's discussion with amateur historian Darryl Cooper provoked similar condemnation, after Cooper denied Nazi intent in the Holocaust and blamed Churchill for World War II atrocities, all with no pushback from Carlson. These editorial choices not only drew public rebuke from the White House and bipartisan groups of legislators but also stoked debates over rising antisemitism within the Republican Party and the broader conservative movement.In parallel to these controversies, Carlson's media ventures continue to attract attention. His new startup, Last Country, co-founded with Neil Patel, recently received a $15 million seed investment from Omeed Malik's 1789 Capital, according to the Wall Street Journal. Carlson is leveraging this funding to grow his audience through video content, mostly hosted on X (formerly Twitter), and has already produced episodes featuring major political figures including Donald Trump. Since departing Fox News, Carlson has focused on building a subscription-based media company and has regained significant popularity in the podcast space. What mattered most for survivors of the Holocaust, indeed, what made their survival possible, was not only that the Allies had better ideas about democracy and civilization, though of course Britain, America, and the other Western Allies did. It was that they actually won the war. They defeated the Germans on the field of battle—on sea, land, and air, in the hills and in the streets. It's not enough for us to rest contentedly on the superiority of our ideas. We also have to fight. But at this moment, the fundamental political fact of the last 80 years—that it was an indispensable and untarnishable achievement for the Allies to have destroyed the Third Reich—is itself under revisionist assault. The Internet talk-show host Tucker Carlson last year promoted the podcaster Darryl Cooper, calling him “America's most honest historian,” and airing his claim that Winston Churchill was the “chief villain” of World War II who “escalated” what Hitler supposedly intended to be a limited conflict. As one of this episode's guests reports in the Wall Street Journal, when the Holocaust-denying podcaster Jake Shields polled his social-media followers about who they thought was “the biggest villain of World War II,” 40.3 percent chose Churchill over Hitler (25.3 percent) or Stalin (25.9 percent). Darryl Cooper or Jake Shields are teaching a new generation of Americans a grotesquely distorted view of our own history. To understand why that is, what can be done about it, and what's at stake for Jews and America, Mosaic's editor Jonathan Silver sat down Rabbi Meir Soloveichik and Andrew Roberts. Roberts is a distinguish historian and the author of more than twenty books. His 2018 biography of Churchill, Walking with Destiny, was the rare work that deserved all of the glowing praise it received, and there is perhaps no person living who knows more about the 20th century's greatest man than Roberts. On November 1, 2022, he was elevated to a peerage as Baron Roberts of Belgravia. Rabbi Soloveichik is the religious leader of Congregation Shearith Israel, the director of the Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought and Yeshiva University, and vice-chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. Mother Nature can be a monster. Also, President Trump has had enough of Putin. Putin is a genocidal maniac responsible for slaughtering Ukrainian civilians, but there are some in Fake MAGA who root for Russia. Lower federal courts are ignoring Supreme Court rulings, with judges defying the Constitution and law on immigration. In LA, a judge rules that ICE roundups are racist, alleging indiscriminate arrests of brown-skinned people at Home Depots, car washes, farms, etc., due to ethnicity and a 3,000-daily quota. In addition, in New Hampshire, a judge upholds birthright citizenship via national injunction, citing long-standing practice over constitutional analysis. The media ignore this, while actions persist. The judges have changed, not the Constitution. Also, President Trump has made enormous progress domestically and internationally, but institutions are being turned against Americans. Democrats will inevitably win elections and use the permanent government, courts, and administrative state to try to permanently embed their ideology, making it irreversible. On Monday's Mark Levin Show, the catastrophic flash flooding along the Guadalupe River in Central Texas over the weekend claimed at least 91 lives, with around 20 people still missing. The disaster struck Kerr County, particularly devastating Camp Mystic, an all-girls Christian summer camp, where 27 campers and counselors, including young teens and the camp director, perished while trying to save others.  It's disgusting that the media and Democrats immediately politicize the event, blaming climate change or budget cuts. Afterward, a district judge in Boston issued a temporary restraining order blocking the defunding of Planned Parenthood as part of the big, beautiful bill President Trump signed. This ruling, which contradicts a Supreme Court decision limiting nationwide injunctions by lower courts, violates constitutional separation of powers. Congress and the president, as elected branches, have the authority to defund organizations, not a district judge.   Finally, FBI Director Kash Patel, Deputy Director Dan Bongino, and Attorney General Pam Bondi aren't covering up a Jeffrey Epstein "client list" after a DOJ-FBI memo denied its existence and reaffirmed Epstein's suicide.
