Au Sénégal, c'est l'heure des comptes après l'élimination controversée des Lions de la Teranga à la Coupe du monde 2026. La Fédération sénégalaise de football, qui s'est séparée du sélectionneur national Pape Thiaw pour des raisons sportives s'est expliquée ce lundi face à la presse.

Pape Thiaw remercié après un mondial jugé décevant. De quoi faire réagir la presse ouest-africaine. « Le football, domaine de passions et d'ingratitude » titre par exemple Le Pays au Burkina Faso. « Les entraîneurs sont, le plus souvent, les boucs émissaires en cas de contreperformances d'une sélection nationale », rappelle le titre, qui revient, comme beaucoup d'autres, sur les conditions de ce mondial. Le Djely, à Conakry, souligne par exemple le renouvellement tardif du contrat de l'entraîneur, qui a « empoisonné les préparatifs des Lions de la Téranga ». « Comment exiger des résultats d'un homme dont on tarde à signer le contrat, le laissant travailler dans une incertitude permanente sur son propre avenir ? » s'interroge le titre. À Dakar, plusieurs figures du foot sénégalais volent au secours de Pape Thiaw. Senego relate ainsi les propos de l'ancien entraîneur des Lions, Diomansy Kamara. Pape Thiaw a été victime d'un « bashing impressionnant » s'indigne-t-il, avant de poursuivre : « les responsabilités ne peuvent pas reposer sur un seul homme ». Quel avenir pour les Lions ? Qui pour remplacer Pape Thiaw ? Plusieurs noms sont cités par Dsports à Dakar. Celui d'Hervé Renard, « l'un des entraîneurs les plus expérimentés du continent » souligne le titre, celui aussi d'Habib Beye. Mais le nom qui revient le plus, c'est celui de Patrick Vieira. Seneweb s'interroge : est-il « l'homme de la situation pour le Sénégal ? » Champion du monde 98 avec la France, il jouit d'une « aura incontestable auprès des joueurs » veut croire le site d'information, qui tempère tout de même : son parcours de technicien est « beaucoup plus sinueux ». La coopération doit maintenant reprendre. » L'épidémie d'Ebola continue de s'étendre en RDC La fièvre hémorragique s'est propagée à Kisangani, le chef-lieu de la province de la Tshopo. « La maladie ne provoque pas que des morts, elle touche aussi l'économie locale », pointe Radio Okapi, qui s'est rendu à Béni dans le Nord-Kivu. Sur place, le prix du petit bétail a « presque triplé sur les marchés ». Les éleveurs et commerçants interrogés par la radio y voient notamment une conséquence de la fermeture de la frontière entre la RDC et l'Ouganda, où ils s'approvisionnent. Il n'y a pas qu'en RDC que la maladie inquiète. La presse kenyane s'alarme du manque de préparation du gouvernement. Le Daily Nation résume la situation ainsi : « Le Kenya est prêt à détecter Ebola, mais pas encore totalement préparé à le combattre ». Le journal a mis la main sur un rapport interne du gouvernement, qui révèle « d'importantes faiblesses dans la capacité du pays à gérer une épidémie d'Ebola ». Le titre s'inquiète notamment de « pénuries d'équipements de protection individuelle, de kits de dépistage et de produits de prévention des infections », mais aussi de manque de capacité de certains centres opérationnels d'urgence. A sweet white wine from five villages on the south bank of the Dordogne, just outside Bergerac, considered important enough to be among the first six things France ever decided were worth protecting. Made from Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris and Muscadelle — the same quartet that dominates the white wine vineyards of Bordeaux — Monbazillac at its best carries aromas of honey, acacia, peach blossom and mirabelle that deepen over decades into candied citrus, spices and beeswax. The great Monbazillacs can age for twenty to thirty years or more.
