This week on the She Did That. podcast we're chatting with Arian Simone, the Co-Founder and General Partner of Fearless Fund - the first VC fund by women of color for women of color - and a serial entrepreneur, philanthropist, angel investor, author, and PR & marketing specialist. Arian received her MBA from Florida A&M and shortly after was laid off from her first job, and a few weeks later found herself staring at over 150 rejection letters from numerous companies she'd hoped would hire her. For seven months Arian lived in her car, selling clothes for gas and food money until she decided to stop waiting on others to see her potential and took matters into her own hands. Since then, she managed to go from the bottom to the top - pioneering and growing a successful PR and marketing firm (with billion-dollar corporate clients such as Sony Pictures, Universal Pictures, Walt Disney Pictures, and more), authoring of multiple best-selling books, founding Fearless Magazine and the Fearless Platform in 2010, with a mission of inspiring millennial, entrepreneurial women of color. Now, with Fearless Fund, she has gained the confidence and multi-million dollar investments from the likes of PayPal, J.P. Morgan, Bank of America, and Costco, and partnerships with industry leaders such as Mastercard and Steve Madden. Produced by Dear Media

Today is the day! Episode 16 people! On today’s show, Annie sits down with the incredibly inspiring and determined, Arian Simone. If you were to look up the definition of the well-used suffix “Arian” i.e. humanitarian, librarian, you would find the following: having a concern or belief in a specified thing. In interviewing entrepreneur, author, angel investor, philanthropist, and PR pro, Arian Simone, it’s safe to say the internet got it right with this one. Listen in as Annie and Arian talk about the road to fearlessness, growing up in Detroit, and dating in LA. Also discussed: Arian’s new book, ‘Fearless - Faith + Hustle,’ the defining moment in 2010 that inspired Fearless Magazine, the first moment Arian felt God in her life, and how living out of her car inspired Arian to pivot and live her best life. Today's interview is my inspiration! The very first female entrepreneur I ever followed on social media was Ms. Arian Simone. She has no idea, but her vulnerability and “never take no for an answer” type of confidence led me to believe I could too become an entrepreneur. She shares with us how she went from being broke in LA trying to make a way and sneaking herself into the BET awards just 11 years ago to becoming the founder of Fearless Magazine and throwing parties and running PR for the same celebrities she once snuck in to see. Her story is one of my favorites, she even talks about name dropping someone in an interview that she didn't even know. Arian now has a clothing line, a magazine, two books, and hosts numerous women's conference each year to empower other women to take control of their own destiny by being fearless in their pursuit.
