In this episode of the Searching Inward Podcast, Scott Reall, Seth Abram and Anna Bryant discuss Chapter Six in Scott's book, Journey to a New Beginning after Loss, which is about forgiveness. They draw from personal experiences to discuss three stages around forgiveness–the forgiveness of others, the forgiveness of God and the forgiveness of ourselves–as well as debunk the misconceptions around this process.“You can forgive someone without reestablishing a relationship. Forgiveness does not mean that you are obliterating your boundaries.” -Anna [07:43]“I think forgiveness is just so, so powerful in that it's for me. It's for me. It has nothing to do with the other person. It doesn't have anything to do with the events. It's for me.” -Scott [10:52]“What moves us to acceptance and peace ultimately is forgiveness, because it is feeling the emotion so that we can move through it and process it and metabolize it so that it can stop being stuck and we can keep moving as the process that we are.” -Seth [29:08]TIMESTAMPS[00:27] Intro[01:56] Definition of forgiveness[05:20] Misconceptions around forgiveness[19:50] Hard to forgive[25:31] The value of forgiveness[29:29] The practice of forgiveness[37:35] Forgiving God[46:26] Forgiving yourselfFollow and ContactFacebook: Restore Small GroupsInstagram: @restoresmallgroupsYouTube: Searching Inward PodcastWebsite: restoresmallgroups.orgScott Reall's Books:Journey to Freedom: Your Start to a Lifetime of Hope, Health, and HealingJourney to a New Beginning after Loss: Freedom from the Pain of Grief and DisappointmentJourney to Living with Courage: Freedom from FearJourney to Healthy Living: Freedom from Body Image and Food IssuesJourney to a Life of Significance: Freedom from Low Self-Esteem

Steven delivers a weighty sermon to the Pharisees. Will it turn their hearts toward God? Sadly, we know the answer to that question. On our own, our moral debt is so enormous that we are helpless and hopelessly unable to pay for what we owe. But God completely forgives us through Jesus and His death on the cross to pay that debt!

God tricked me Why does God do it for other people, but not me? I gave up asking God I know God can, but He doesn't seem to care What do you do with your hurt, frustration, and disappointment with God? 1 Samuel 1:6-7 (NLT) // So Peninnah would taunt Hannah and make fun of her because the LORD had kept her from having children. 7 Year after year it was the same—Peninnah would taunt Hannah as they went to the Tabernacle. Each time, Hannah would be reduced to tears and would not even eat. 1 Samuel 1:8 (NLT) // “Why are you crying, Hannah?” Elkanah would ask. “Why aren't you eating? Why be downhearted just because you have no children? You have me—isn't that better than having ten sons?” 1 Samuel 1:9-10 (NLT) // Once after a sacrificial meal at Shiloh, Hannah got up and went to pray. Eli the priest was sitting at his customary place beside the entrance of the Tabernacle. 10Hannah was in deep anguish, crying bitterly as she prayed to the LORD. 1 Samuel 1:19 (NLT) // The entire family got up early the next morning and went to worship the LORD once more. … A waiting season isn't a wasted season. 1 Samuel 1:19-20 (NLT) // Then they returned home to Ramah. When Elkanah slept with Hannah, the LORD remembered her plea, 20 and in due time she gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, for she said, “I asked the LORD for him.” God's delays are not necessarily God's denials.

God's Name | Our Forgiving God | 02/19/2023 by Kearney eFree Church
Today's episode will be emotional for many. It certainly was for me. We're going to talk about our need to forgive God. Yes, I know how strange that sounds, but hear me out.We all want things to make sense. It makes sense that an all powerful God can do anything. We, for good reason, expect Him to answer when we pray. It doesn't make sense when a God that can do anything… doesn't. Because of our limited understanding, it hurts especially bad when our all powerful God chooses not heal or work a situation out the way we want. Martha must have felt this way when she said, Lord, if you had been here, my brother wouldn't have died. Because we are emotional beings, this type of disappointment can easily create feelings of resentment toward God. We must forgive God. Let me be clear, God has never needed a pardon from us. He's never actually done anything wrong. However, the process of forgiving is the best way to explain the process we need to go through. Forgiving God is more closely related to releasing our pain, frustration and disappointment in His decision to answer differently than we had hoped. In this episode we'll look at biblical examples of others that experienced these disappointments and discuss how they handled it. We'll also lay out a few ways to begin the process of… forgiving God. He's truly working things for our best, even when we can't understand.Let's keep building! Think you and your sins are beyond Forgiveness? Think Again! This is Ridiculous !!!
Why do we have to suffer if God can fix it? If God is all-powerful, why does He allow me and my kids to experience all this hurt? Why doesn't He step in? It's a natural thing to be angry with God. To be clear, God is not dependent on us forgiving him, but we know that he wants an authentic relationship with us, so he embraces our hurt, disappointment, and questions… even about Himself. So what do we do with these questions? What do we do with anger towards God? Our guest is Rick Cua; he was a well-known Christian recording artist, songwriter, ordained minister, and author. Unfortunately, four short months before recording this episode, Rick tragically found his daughter dead. In this episode, we explore how to reconcile what God allows to tragically happen in our lives. It may seem strange to think that we could bless God. Many of us pray for God's blessing…we even use phrases like, “God bless you,” because it is easy to understand how God blesses us. But here, David is telling himself to bless God. The Hebrew word used here, bara-kah, describes bestowing someone with special power or declaring God to be special power. David is praising God for who He is. He declares through worship the glory of God.Support the show
