Motherhood is Never Simple

What happens when a book about sex work, patriarchy, and motherhood collides with our own messy stories of choice, pregnancy, and parenting? Pure Real Talk and the reality: Motherhood is never simple. In this episode, Stacy and Daynah dive into *spoiler alert* Margo's Got Money Trouble and end up everywhere from pottery-as-therapy and day drinking confessions to abortion stigma, single mom survival, and postpartum euphoria (yes, it's real). They unpack the way beauty is currency, the patriarchy still shapes every decision, and how women just keep holding it all together. And because it's us, we also detour through tramp stamps, 90s nostalgia, and the pop culture comfort food of Netflix binges. It's sharp, heartfelt, occasionally irreverent, and exactly the kind of conversation your group text wishes it was having. Our add-on food label distinguishes soil-grown fruits and vegetables from hydroponically-raised produce, and pasture-raised meat, milk, and eggs from products harvested from animals in horrific confinement (CAFOs - confined animal feeding operations). To find a Real Organic farm near you, please visit:https://www.realorganicproject.org/directoryWe believe that the organic standards, with their focus on soil health, biodiversity, and animal welfare were written as they should be, but that the current lack of enforcement of those standards is jeopardizing the ability for small farms who adhere to the law to stay in business. The lack of enforcement is also jeopardizing the overall health of the customers who support the organic movement; customers who are not getting what they pay for at market but still paying a premium price. And the lack of enforcement is jeopardizing the very cycles (water, air, nutrients) that Earth relies upon to provide us all with a place to live, by pushing extractive, chemical agriculture to the forefront. If you like what you hear and are feeling inspired, we would love for you to join our movement by becoming one of our 1,000  Real Friends:https://www.realorganicproject.org/real-organic-friends/To read our weekly newsletter (which might just be the most forwarded newsletter on the internet!) and get firsthand news about what's happening with organic food, farming and policy, please subscribe here:https://www.realorganicproject.org/email/

Evolving Leadership in a Tech-Driven Region In this episode, Michael chats with Mohamed—an Egyptian leader based in Saudi Arabia with a wealth of experience across the Middle East and Europe. The conversation explores the region's tech-fueled transformation and how it's reshaping business and leadership. With a young, dynamic population and a high-growth environment, the demand for leadership coaching is on the rise. Mohamed shared that leaders are realizing that information alone doesn't drive transformation—coaching does. Michael added that resilient leadership thrives in spaces where people feel empowered to adapt and grow, especially in today's fast-changing world. Coaching as a Catalyst for Leadership Growth Michael and Mohamed dive into why coaching is no longer optional—it's essential. Michael emphasized the power of being coachable and how reaching out to mentors can elevate a leader's impact. Mohamed echoed this, noting that one of the biggest hurdles in leadership development is working with individuals unwilling to learn. Together, they highlighted how coaching unlocks personal clarity and drives sustainable leadership growth—though not everyone is ready to embrace the process. From Fear to the Front of the Room: A Nurse's Speaking Breakthrough Michael shared an inspiring story of a nurse educator he once hired who struggled with public speaking. With encouragement and support, she stepped out of her comfort zone, pursued speaking opportunities, and eventually landed a leadership role in the healthcare system. The takeaway? When we identify and support the unique passions of our team, we unlock potential that transforms careers—and organizations. The Human Side of AI in Leadership AI may be changing how we work, but as Michael and Mohamed discussed, it can't replace the human elements of leadership—empathy, coaching, and connection. Mohamed shared thoughtful insights on the evolving role of AI in the workplace and the need for leaders to remain adaptable. Michael noted that while AI can supercharge productivity and creativity, the true essence of leadership will always be rooted in relationships. Global Impact: Mercer's Role in Leadership Development The episode wraps with a look at the global work Mohamed is doing with Mercer, helping shape the next generation of leaders through innovative coaching and development programs. He encourages listeners to connect with him on LinkedIn for more on Mercer's approach to building resilient, future-ready leaders around the world.   Mohamed Hamza is a renowned authority on leadership assessment and development. When running a law firm, it's vital to know what's important. Results? Production? Call it “everything.” When we explore the future of law, it's important to talk about the whole picture. Today, that means AI, money, financing, and results. Guest Dan Lear, VP of Partnerships at InfoTrack shares his insights.  It starts with understanding the “hemispheres” of the brain and understanding yourself and how you think. The world is moving from a “left brain” logical type of approach to a more holistic, creative approach, tapping unconventional, big picture skills. The narrow approach learned in law school and practiced in the past is due for an upgrade.  There's a lot going on. Will AI make you more productive, or will it jam you up? Understanding today's legal landscape and the new era of work demands your attention.  Lear digs into how fast things are changing. AI is rewriting the very tech we use, and you can't escape it, only keep up. Take a new look at the future of work, and, equally important, the future of money, outside funding, and the practice of law as a business.  Join the next Community Table live. What's on your mind? In this episode Al Roxburgh and Jenny Sinclair meet Angie Allgood, a social worker whose family roots in the Bonny Downs community shaped her vocation. Her family's generational faith taught her to see Jesus as a friend. Together with the East End tradition of extended family living, this fostered a passion for working with young people and others struggling with life. A moment of transformation came when she was led by the Spirit, through Isaiah 58, to give up statutory social work and focus on those in need within her own community. It was then that she learned from a homeless man about the “proper” way to help: rather than material provision or doing for, real healing comes through belonging and purpose. NewWay, a charity with a distinctive approach, then emerged. The “new way” involves a commitment to mutuality and accountability and a readiness to be vulnerable rather than transactional. Angie describes this as the purest and most authentic form of church. Angie isn't a theologian, hasn't been to seminary and isn't ordained. She simply followed the Spirit.Angie Allgood is the fourth of six generations to live in the same few streets of East Ham, in Newham, East London, UK. Angie has been a social worker for over 35 years, has founded two local charities and pioneered many community activities. Her current role is as the Director of a small local Newham charity she co-founded: NEWway supports single adults affected by homelessness, providing purpose, belonging and safety, joining with churches of all traditions and the people of Newham to restore lives affected by homelessness.LinksFor Angie Allgood:https://newwayproject.org/https://www.linkedin.com/in/angie-allgood-535732164/?originalSubdomain=ukFor Alan J Roxburgh:http://alanroxburgh.com/aboutFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/alan.roxburgh.127/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thecommonsnetworkBooksForming Communities of Hope in the Great Unraveling: Leadership in a Changing World (with Roy Searle)Joining God in the Great UnravelingLeadership, God's Agency and DisruptionsJoining God, Remaking Church, Changing the World: The New Shape of the Church in Our TimeFor Jenny Sinclair:Website: https://togetherforthecommongood.co.uk/from-jenny-sinclairLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jenny-sinclair-0589783b/Twitter: https://twitter.com/T4CGFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/TogetherForTheCommonGoodUKInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/t4cg_insta/ Get full access to Leaving Egypt at leavingegyptpodcast.substack.com/subscribe

Chris shares how storytelling, consistency, and connection have helped Huntington Jewelers thrive in a digital age, and how the right watch can say more about someone's values than any smart device ever could.
